Active Nation Gym - Runcorn

Negative experience: Everything is always broken, doesn’t get fixed or just stays out of service for literal years. Sauna and steams are turned off most the time. Then if you cancel your membership they harass you for payment and it’s like having a bounty on your head over a gym membership honestly don’t bother.

Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I have ever been to, staff and management very friendly and helpful. Prices are great also. Plenty of equipment for either weight or cardio training. And most importantly never too busy, no waiting around for equipment, even at peak times. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Always amazing, had it where the qr code doesnt work on my phone. Staff always very accomodating and let me in, i won a years worth which is unfortunately over now, i will definitely be purchasing an annual.

Positive experience: Been to a few gyms and its tricky as they all seem to excel in one or two places but lack in others... on the whole I would say that it is hard to beat this gym for the money - it has a good selection of machines (but could do with a few others in areas its lacking). It has a steamroom and sauna, which is great for the price. But I ended up joining another gym because of Active Nations opening times... its just no good that it opens so late and closes so early. I have kept my membership here temporarily thought as I cant avoid the fact that this gym is really local and does have a lot for the price (But I would gladly pay a little more for it to have better opening times).

Fantastic experience: Go 3 times a week staff so friendly go atmosphere can't do enough for you and a good price for what you get

Positive experience: Active Nation Runcorn is an amazing gym with all the basic needs to help you get started, including a ladies only room. The ladies locker room is spacious and a lot of lockers! They have plenty of equipment, as in... If someone is on 'yours', there are plenty of alternatives! The ladies only room (on the left side after entering) has quite the basics as well, and its nice and quiet a lot of times :) it misses quite some pegs in the different weighting machines, so you'll atill be kind of forced to use the ones in the general area The gym could work on some things though: Hygiëne: the machines look rather dirty. A lot of dried up sweat from previous users, you can see the way it ran down machines... Dirt on the ground behind the treadmill (people wearing dirty shoes) that doesn't get removed. Machines that could use some repairing/new fabric on parts of it. A lot of locks in the locker rooms could use some WD-40 or replacement as well. Its all rather small things but it can make quite a difference! There is no 'cleaning code' for users. In my previous gym they made sure users at least wiped the machines with cleaning wipes to help maintain a hygiene standard. Or that people atleast wear indoor shoes, and not the shoes they use outside. I haven't seen any cleaning staff around, could be timing / not sure if there are any..

Negative experience: Very badly managed gym facility. Steam room ,dry sauna was not working over 9 month .when finally working. manager decided not to switch it on . Only to be making pre booking for members that was never communicated. Gym equipment not working or consistently out of order . Stay away as only thing that this guys are interested in is to take your money on monthly basis and not provide any service.

Positive experience: So far amazing, really really nice atmosphere and there's tons of things to do. I feel great after only going the gym twice, definitely going to try to go at least 3 times a week =). I will say though the only negative is the changing rooms, I wish there were more lockers to choose from and the ones that aren't locked by people hogging them are really broken.

Friendly environment, great/helpful staff members A good variety of machines Never really busy at all Sauna and Steam room Air con Ladies only gym Cons: Have been missing quite a few weights for a very long period of time now, but others are available so not a big deal When it does get busy however, probably best to comeback another time so try to avoid around 2pm-3pm & 5pm-6pm Very strange how early they close on weekends

Fantastic experience: This is my gym. Ots local, near food places. It has everything you need to smash your fitness goals although its a bit small and doesn't have everything but who needs all the fancy machines? This has everything. It doesn't get too busy, don't need to wait for machines/equipment etc. It does multiple classes daily whi h are all different and the instructors are very friendly. Lovely and helpful staff. Caring Personal Trainers. Has a sauna and steam room too inided in membership and they are modern and big and it's a massive plus compared to other gyms. Huge changing rooms and all facilities you need like water fountain, weighing scales etc.

Negative experience: Omg they've reduced their opening times again (see the image I've uploaded). Shuts 8.30pm weekdays. Reduced access but no reduction in fees!! Guess I'm joining pure gym for 24hr access instead

Negative experience: They traded the kit for even worse cheaper rubbish. Being a charity gym things break and takes years to repair too. Joined Pure gym for that reason

Negative experience: Needs a kick, not interested in clients, well staff are but the company aren't. Staff are fighting a losing battle trying to make the place fit for purpose

Positive experience: This gym has really nice, pleasant, helpful staff and is good value for money. The equipment is in good condition and there has been a recent refurbishment. The showers could do with a complete overhaul.

Fantastic experience: I have been going for a while now. It's a very friendly gym that really isnt busy or not the time I go which is normally between 10 - 1pm. Has a female only area which is great for the less confident of us, or doing hip thrusts. I haven't ventured upstairs to the weights because I have no idea of the equipment or how to use it and Im imitated I wish one of the staff would offer me a walkthrough.

Fantastic experience: It's a good gym. Lots of space, good variety of machines / free weights/benches and friendly staff. It doesn't matter if some of the equipment is a little old, a 10kg weight still weighs 10kg whether it's 1 year or 10 years old and the cardio machines all work well.
