Brookvale Recreation Centre

Positive experience: Been using Brooky Rec since i learned to swim at school over 40 years ago. Used for 5-a-side, swimming, badminton and kids parties.

Fantastic experience: Good 3G pitches, friendly staff.

Positive experience: Changing area awful small and half of the lockers don't work. Pool small but great for aquafit

Fantastic experience: Great recreation centre with a gym, football pitches inside and out, badminton courts the lot.

Positive experience: Some friendly staff but overall a bit of a rundown sports centre.

Fantastic experience: I took my son swimming lessons and I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the changing rooms .

Negative experience: Mediocre equipment at best, just noticed my membership was charged at £18.30 this month, just for access to a below average gym. Used to be an acceptable £15. £18.30 is unreasonable, and ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: Having iftar for Ramadan with my husband there. Well organized place.

Fantastic experience: Nice quiet gym. Plenty of parking. Craige is a fantastic personal trainer!

Negative experience: Understand the policy of Astro bookings only being 55 mins. However if the previous booking slot isn’t tannoyed to come off at all and they don’t leave til gone the hour mark. Our booking being tannoyed off at 5 to so you can close the building isn’t 55 mins

Negative experience: I had a membership for a year as a teen gym member, they started adding wristbands and loads of unreasonable rules along with not letting us go to the gym for up to 6 days as they don't have enough staff. I no longer have a membership along with many other ex-members leaving due to this. Other than that the gym wasn't even good anyway, mediocre at best.

Fantastic experience: Excellent visit to a smashing and modern sports complex,,although bucketing rain until our match on a superb AstroTurf pitch...plenty of parking and amenities..we'll run and maintained....AND we won our away game...Irlam Vale U'17's "COSMOS".⚽️

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff ... needs more showers and more lockers in swimming changing rooms but other than that it's always getting cleaned and gym is good .

Positive experience: Went with 3 of my children we enjoyed it other than a young life guard said my daughter age 7 could not use her tiny rubber ring she can not swim and it was helping her calm down and get used to the water as this is a new experience for her

Negative experience: Classes aren’t taught by very experienced instructors as they used to be, A lot of changes not for the better unfortunately, I’ve spoken to a few customers and they comment that they’ve no variety and make do with whats available. No good

Negative experience: Attempted to swim on 3 occasions. First was limited to 40 minutes because the guard didn't want to stand there, the second wasn't available because of staffing issues and the time was "a privilege anyway" and the 3rd was refused because they were full. They had 35 people in! It is actually shocking and will be taking my money and service elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Great place to go for gym classes. All the instructors are really friendly. Good value when booking badminton courts.

Positive experience: Just started early morning swimming, part of my physiotherapy workout. Staff are always helpful, welcoming. Changing rooms are clean and not too cold. Well setup

Positive experience: I only went to a children's birthday party that had been booked here. It was very noisy- but children's parties are!!

Positive experience: Facilities are decent, but nowhere to buy any refreshments, no card payments for any beverages or anything

Fantastic experience: Great place for a kids party. Bouncy Castle was big and great space for them to all run around.

Fantastic experience: Good facilities, overall would recommend for sports mainly as I myself play in a five a side team every Monday , staff are well trained and very helpful. Especially as I had an incident there just over 2 weeks ago they were very quick to react and assess the situation and try to resolve asap. Overall brill experience I've had there with the football team.

Positive experience: It's a fab little gym and the pool is absolutely wonderful. I split my time between the 3 sites available but mainly use Brookvale because it's a happy medium. The only thing is it is missing some key equipment which it could do with. Also I thought it also had a sauna/steam as its advertising is extremely misleading - it doesn't but it really needs one.

Negative experience: Not great dirty in swimming pool and outside of pool, an very cold. Missing first aid box an staff opening fire exit to make it colder to make you leave early. Not good at all.

Negative experience: Helpful staff and plenty of parking. For swimming lessons the changing rooms are too small when you are expected to collect and leave your child at a tiny entrance whilst others are getting changed. There is a small "viewing" window to stand and watch the lessons with no seated provision, so end up sitting on the stairs which impedes access and egress for gym users. Hairdryers are limited and expensive, whilst they come free with lessons at the other Halton pool, and showers/toilets are very limited.

Positive experience: Great facilities for football etc. Swimming pool which is more often than not freezing. The only issue I have is the nets on the goals outside and in need replacing. They're not in the best if condition.

Negative experience: Loved this place, then they got rid of all external staff which means all group classes I attended have stopped, still wanted my money, no communication, I left feedback on there website but has disappeared, obviously only aloud leave positive comments. They want to charge top price but employ everyone on minimum wage. Not fair I don’t believe you should treat people like this. See if they remove this comment.

Positive experience: I have been a member here for many years and seen many changes. The gym has got good facilities accounting for number of members. Although small the changing rooms are adequate and don’t get busy. Limited number of cardio equipment and at peak times can be full. Free weights are good but again at peak times you wait your turn as only 2-3 benches and one of each machine. The change of authority running the place has been bad, staff hours cut, staff cuts, classes cuts, some of the experienced friendly staff have gone, I will give it 2 stars if I was things don’t get better but have given 3based on facilities and past experience.

Negative experience: Pool freezing . I went with my 13 yr old and 3 yr old we lasted a whole 15 minutes as it was freezing far to cold for children let alone myself . Changing rooms smelt of urine real bad making us gag . Freezing also in changing rooms. I literally had to dry my 3 yr old under the hand dryer to keep her warm or she would have been full of flu . Shame as it's really put us off going again
