Stantonbury Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Good to be playing Badders in the main hall,but the other unit round the back should be opened up asap after works completed, update to the original post, NO BADDERS in the back hall as is now for basketball,be nice if they fix the lighting to the car parks area's,someone's going to trip,as no lighting there,builders in other car park may have cut the street light cable BUT should not be in darkness when walking back to your car. Maybe the bosses here only work in daylight so wouldn't know about this fact. Update for Jan 2025. After speaking to management in November 2024 about the condition of the badminton nets(so large the holes,you can get a shuttlecock thru them) they still have not been changed, people pay good money for a court,so peeps be aware not good on providing decent gear.

Positive experience: Estuve en lecciones de natación con mis niños desde 2021 desde el último año empezaron a subir el precio cada 3-6 meses dizque para conservar los estándares de de calidad cosa totalmente opuesta....Xq los cambiadores tenían basura en el duelo olían mal y dos o tres veces no había ni agua para ducharse ..por esa razón decidí cambiarme espero mejoren y cambien la actual administración,me quedó con lo buenos mis hijos aprendieron y le sacan gusto al agua ahora.

Negative experience: I have been sending my children to swimming lessons at Stantanbury Leisure Center since January 2024, with one child in Stage 1 and the other in Stage 2. While the teachers—Katerina, Julie-Ann, and Gracely—were extremely great, but our recent experience with the reception has been extremely disappointing. Without any prior notice, the center suddenly removed my children's names from the system, claiming they hadn’t been paid, despite the fact that they had been charging us extra. When we tried to re-register them, we were told to pay immediately and come back the next day before 2 PM to get booked. However, when we returned as instructed, we were informed that they were fully booked, and to make matters worse, they refused to refund the payment we had made the previous day. This is completely unacceptable, and we are left feeling frustrated and cheated. The lack of transparency and the poor customer service is very disappointing, especially for a service we had trusted for so long. I would not recommend Stantanbury Leisure Center based on this experience.They also charged us for a extra month tha we did not attend

The receptionist was extremely rude she asked us a question and when we were giving our response she said I'm not speaking to you I'm speaking to finance. Another receptionist said over 100 times we can't give your children free swim lessons. We're as they cancel lessons after every week which they don't bother about because the don't refund for the lessons . So won't recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic experience: **Stantonbury has Outstanding Swimming & Gym Facilities** I had the privilege of learning to swim at Stantonbury Leisure Centre, and I can’t praise it enough! The swimming teachers are fantastic—patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. They played a huge role in helping me gain confidence in the water, which ultimately led to me completing my first Ironman 70.3. Their dedication to every learner makes all the difference. The life guards deserve a special mention too. They are always present and attentive, ensuring that safety is a priority at all times. Their commitment to being available every day gives an added sense of security and shows how much they care about their work and the swimmers' well-being. The gym is also a great space and plenty of options for all fitness levels. It’s clean, spacious, and never feels overcrowded, making it a great place to work out. Finally, the reception staff are always welcoming and friendly, happy to help with any questions or bookings. Overall, Stantonbury Leisure Centre offers an amazing experience for swimming, training, and fitness. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: Do not join this Gym/Leisure centre. I have been going to Stantonbury for a long time but the place is as bad as I have ever seen it. No staff, dirty toilets, dirty pool, bad management, no communication and this is just for starters. A few members got together earlier in the year to complain to management but nothing has been done...... People get up early to go swimming but the lifeguards can't be bothered turning up. I will be looking at alternative options.

Negative experience: Very disappointing visit. Please do not take your child or adult if they have any SEN. After a therapy pre visit to Stantonbury Leisure with the manager Connor to discuss the needs of a client of mine with autism who is 21 we discussed the reasonable adjustments required- quieter session ideally with no children therefore wanting to come midday, during a lane swim session, we were told as long as try and keep the session as structured as possible that should be fine. We completed a risk assessment- and there was 5 members of staff with this client, 3 competent swimmers 2 of them therapists in the pool and 2 floating carers on the sides. We arrived, got changed and got in the pool. We explained the above to the lifeguard-Jordan, he suggested the end empty lane and advised ideally try swimming up and down- explained it may take our client a little time to warm up to this as our client can swim but hadn’t been swimming for a while and it was a new environment, he said he understood and had a nephew with additional needs (please bare in mind it was very quiet there were 5 lanes open and there was no more the 6 people swimming across these lanes the whole time we were there). 10 minutes in our client had walked up and down the allocated lane 3x he had started to dip his shoulders in and lean into the woggle and tread water we were definitely building confidence and trust in the water. The operations manager Leigh arrived on pool side and started speaking with carers on pool side, I got out the pool to ask what the problem was, Leigh explained that we had to leave the session as this was lane swimming, and the people who access this session have to be competent swimmers, and only continuously swim up and down the lane during the session and if the leisure staff were unsure of the clients swimming abilities, they would want the client to have had completed swimming lessons to a certain level before coming swimming. I checked all the boards and the website, I couldn’t see this documented anywhere and wasn’t what we had been told on the pre visit. I explained that this was very disappointing and that swimming up and down is the ultimate aim but will take time with this client. He suggested we come on the weekends at the open swim session if we wanted to do what we had done today, I explained we had avoided these sessions as there is normally lots of children and it’s a lot more busy and our client struggles with auditory filtering and crowded unpredictable environments. Needless to say unfortunately we will not be returning, it is especially disappointing that this facility is on the clients door step and as a therapy service we had hoped to build future positive connections and working relationships with this leisure facility.

Positive experience: Main sports hall has multiple badminton courts - refurbished in 2023.

Negative experience: The lighting being provided for community use in the evenings is so poor and the fuel generated lights being used are pumping dangerous fumes across the pitch. Instead of maing people healthy, people will end up with breathing and other health complications. Why are the lights in such poor condition. Given the revenues generated from the communty usage, this is unacceptable and needs to be urgently addressed as this a health ans safety risk having the generators on the pitch. Our team played last night and the conditions we are paying for are not made for anyone.

Positive experience: Thoroughly enjoyable experience friendly staff great value however did find a used disposable nappy in one of the lockers.

Positive experience: Watched a great show with my grandaughters in,only complaint far to hot in theatre.

Positive experience: Its ok but starting to age. Saw a photo club here and itwas a good night.

Negative experience: Poor experience of badminton booking and staff wasn't really helpful. We booked a court on Sunday 1pm and somehow when my friend and I showed up they said it wasn't booked in, eventhough my friend showed them the transaction records on his phone. Ridiculous.

Negative experience: The place is a joke. Swimming very rarely open mainly because of poor management. They couldn't run a bath never mind a leisure centre. Don't bother joining....

Fantastic experience: The swimming is good

Positive experience: Leisure centre has been improved over the years. Both indoors courts have been resurfaced, lighting replaced so indoor sports hall is as good as anywhere else..

Positive experience: Easy to book badminton courts. Newly refurbished courts are excellent to play on.

Negative experience: Gym is too expensive for what you get. Parking is a nightmare. Too busy. You can not get in without login at reception first so you have to queue up for a very long time before you can get in. Very dated equipment. Very few slot for swimming. Classes have to be pre-booked and you are not guaranty a place. The toilets are not very clean in the swimming area, it doesn’t smell nice at all. It really put you off. Not a good gym.

Positive experience: Badminton courts are really nice, their swimming classes for kids are also very good and very reasonably priced

Negative experience: The gym is not maintained properly and they don’t even have class as part of the gym only Memebership. The staff lacks empathy.

Negative experience: Never answer the phone. Never any lane swimming. You'll have little choice but to avoid, because nobody answers the phone!!!!!!

Positive experience: Fun place to go for a swim Instructors are nice and friendly Only downside is when it gets busy it gets busy

Negative experience: One of the worst leisure center, poor and discriminative management. No clear polices and poorly managed courts with terrible light and no cleaning at all.

Negative experience: Badminton courts are poorly marked/nets loose/way too close together. People walk all over the courts. Fine if you want a little knock around with family/friends but for anything more serious, it is not appropriate.

Positive experience: The birthplace of champion swimmers in MK. This is in my opinion where you go to learn how to swim... Properly.

Negative experience: Avoid. When call for badminton court nobody answer and staff always stalking you. Can’t bring more than 3 people.

Fantastic experience: (Swimming pool only) Took the family to Stantonbury for a swim. We all really enjoyed it. Decent facilities. Pool was perfect temperature. Friendly staff and life guards. Will be back again soon.

Negative experience: Costumer service is very disappointing and knowledge of talking to clients is not in order. Demanding to speak to the manager kept turning questions around like staffs with know ability "like kids". Staff really need proper update and ability to deal with clients at time needs.

Fantastic experience: It's great for all activities and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Positive experience: Absolutely incredible staff, so happy and happy to help with any problems you have had. Changing rooms I really clean and fantastic signage. Just make sure you use cards as they don't except cash at the moment.

Fantastic experience: I have only just signed up to this gym and I really could not fault the staff. The level of customer service is fantastic. After having difficulty phoning through to the main reception to book onto a class, I messaged them on Facebook to see if I could do it through there and instead they rang me straight back. The class itself was great. Instructor was lovely and genuine and other members were extremely friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: The spin bikes are old and run down with no digital display, You will have no idea what gear you're in what your heart rate is or what your RPM is and on top of that the studio is dark With no fans or air conditioning. The spin bikes are horrible they feel so heavy and run down they are the worst exercise bikes I've ever been on. The table tennis sessions are ok but they could do with longer sessions it only runs for an hour. The leisure centre itself doesn't look very advertising and looks a bit dirty and also run down, it doesn't surprise me to hear about the changing rooms being dirty or the toilets being dirty, the Swimming pool doesn't particularly look clean. I'm in no rush of going back to this Leisure Centre.

Negative experience: Run down, poor customer service, changing rooms disgusting, lack of care. Milton Keynes has a lot of other leisure centres and I would recommend using one of them.

Fantastic experience: Great place as a Leisure Center Since I moved to Milton Keynes I been visiting Stantunburry leisure centre - it’s an amazing place for sports like 1. Very large swimming pool + Kids pool as well 2. Badminton courts with good lighting ( floor bit worn out) 3. GYM and Studios Over and above amazing front desk staff, all staff are very committed and make ur visit most memorable Also, Stantunburry campus got very very large indoor Hall which can host upto 1000 people. Overall it’s an amazing leisure centre. Love to visit again and again...

Positive experience: Pool is too cold. It out my child off swimming (the teachers are excellent!), setback of almost two years to get him to swim again. My car was keyed by Stantonbury school children at the end of their school day. I now avoid this place, but still would like to try their theatre.

Fantastic experience: My 5 year old was previously petrified of water and it made going on holiday excruciating. She has since been having swimming lessions at stantonbury for just under a year now and has become a water baby. She is confident and aware water safety due to their hard work and I can not thank them enough. During our time at the leisure centre she had a number of different teachers as she goes up the stages all of which been exceptional. They tailor their teaching styles to individual children needs to ensure they make the best possible progress. As a primary school teacher I would really recommend the Leisure as the whole team is passionate about ensuring the children learn but in a fun and enjoyable way. I would like to say how professional the management team are, you can see how they support their staff in recognising a childs potential and love to hear about your childs progress.

Fantastic experience: Great swimming lessons my 5 year old looks forward to his lesson every week. Teachers are friendly and very professional.

Positive experience: Great facilities and the team know what they are doing.

Negative experience: Half off the changing rooms locks are broke , no steps to get into the pool only one which is nearly broke.. thought I would try this swimming centre out, but don't like it. Would not be coming back. I will be sticking to my local swimming

Fantastic experience: Great venue for model railway show back in February

Negative experience: Many better leisure centres, we are experiencing difficulties every time my son is coming for the swimming class. He is not on the system, problems with payments, we had to change time of our classes because of chaotic system on their side. Price is great but that's it. I would rather pay more for quality. Its absolutely annoying to come for a class and have to deal with issues every single time. We are happily leaving this place.

Positive experience: My Dad and Mum tack me and my siblings here quite often, almost every Sunday we go and I don’t regret it. The pool is nice and warm and it has lots of pool equipment such as, flooties, pool noodles and even boats that the kids can sit into ( they’re a few little floot boats everywhere) they have swimming lessons there too! Thx to this pool (I have been to hundreds and this ones my fav) I now have more confidence in my swimming and so does my 2 year old sister❤️

Negative experience: Probably THE WORST LEISURE CENTRE in Milton Keynes based on personal experience. Crumbling infrastructure, badly staffed, careless attitude, blocked toilets, extremely bad communication, lack of automated emails and uninterested staff. When passing feedback about poor communication, manager implies I as a customer am at fault for not checking a random post stuck on a notice board and justifies the action by saying the remaining 1690 out of 1700 customers did not complain! Only 10 did! Well, it is still very early in the morning! Leave it the entire day and see how many come to you! Or maybe they won't because they are fed up about passing feedback! Do not disrespect customers who make a valid point about poor communication! Who in this day and age checks a notice board for important information about centre closures, change of timings, schedules etc? Also lied about website having information about the centre closure during the winter snow, when the website did not have any information. I was on the website, and I also made instant complaints through emails and on their FB page about it. So I KNOW and I am not lying! When you imply your customers are lying when they pass feedback, something is seriously wrong.

Negative experience: Shabby, understaffed and limited facilities the epitome of poor management and chronic underinvestment. I loved this place as a child and seeing it like this breaks my heart. Communities need places like this rather than lots of private gyms. But for some reason, I would suspect so that it can be justified for a sell off to a private firm, it's being let go to ruin. A crying shame.

Negative experience: This leisure centre is a breeding ground for bacteria! Changing rooms are disgusting The whole place needs a revamp, when queried about where is the cleaner the manager replied we cant afford one!!! Children have swimming lessons here, removed my son from here due to the dirty disgusting changing rooms, chewing gum stuck to floor, baby changing stations/bins filthy and stink. Even staff sitting behind the desk look very bored half time chatting on there mobiles.there not helpful either not in the least interested to help you! Avoid this leisure centre go elsewhere where other leisure centres definitely have a cleaner and standards are up to what they should be.

Negative experience: I was member for more then three years,,to stop your membership for the gym can be a pain..I was going backand fort fore more then four times to ask wy my membership was not being stopt,They said then they would solve the problem,but stil no phone or email from them,and I canceld my member ship in the 2nd week of november 2014,and still no answer about the refund of the two months.. I will go back on Saterday the 10th of Januari to see wat they have don...
