Negative experience: They cant even display there when staff is in the gym without a qr code

Negative experience: Too noisy people talking over the phone and disturbing other especially on treadmills they are next to each other quite annoying and loud. Should use microphone or go to the side when on call.

Negative experience: A lot of dust and around mashines, the cealing, everywhere. They should clean better around the gym.

Fantastic experience: The gym have variety of good equipment

Positive experience: It's a great gym but dont know why they dont pay attention to small issues like there is no hand sanitizer in the gym. I asked the manger a few times and she replied that we couldn't get from our supplier. There r two bottles of senitizors at the entrance which r empty since ages. You can remove these bottles at least if you are not going to fill them. If any machine gets faulty it will take ages to get it fixed.

Negative experience: At night it's not staffed abit of a security risk, too many people using each others qr codes and pins. Some of the equipments tired.

Negative experience: Canny rough for a puregym. Very busy and not the best resourced of the puregym family.

Negative experience: So much potential going to waste here! The equipment is dirty! Rusted and old! The roof is leaking from multiple places! If they spent some money doing the place up, got some new kit, made it less cramped- this could be an amazing gym. My other issue is gym etiquette! There is none here, people just leave weights lying around, gym looks a mess! Seriously up the monthly price, sort out the gym conditions and get rid of the people who can’t be bothered to put their weights back - and this could be a good gym.

Fantastic experience: Friendly local gym part of a large gym chain. Recently had few upgrades with new equipment and things moved around making it easier to get around now. clear areas for stretching, cardio etc. The team are very friendly and helpful and whilst there may not be many of them the gym is relatively clean and tidy. Of course its a 24 hour gym and the staff cant be there all the time so when it is messy this its down to other members. The changing rooms are dated but functional for what you may need, i shower at home so cant comment on them too much. Ample parking which is free. Good range of classes. Air temp is fine. All in all, a pleasent gym and great price for what you get.

Positive experience: My annual updated review as of 25/12/23. Last review was met with a generic bot response and clearly wasn't read. First bring back the comments box at the front of house. Secondly there has been updated new cardiovascular equipment added, very appreciated and impressive. However the weight resistance machines apart from a cable leg press have not been updated. Machine still require maintenence and oiling, machines are also rusting, rope grips are on their last thread and bacteria ridden. Despite many pictures being uploaded nothing has been done. Most importantly the benches need updating, definite death trap and serious injuries coming soon if not, the benches are not sturdy in an incline position m, feel very weak and flimsy and unlevwl with the ground. You do not feel safe doing a heavy weight shoulder press on them Upon adding all the new CV equipment a lot of open space was created, enough space for a much needed hack squat or equivalent, request for hacksquat was denied, without proper reasoning. Probably because of their yearly budget, well I've found the issue, probably stock being stolen when the stock room door is left open through out the day into early hours and creating a deficit in equipment budget. Positive experience: Positive: They have replaced all the machines in the gym. New, shiny, with USB chargers, even fans to keep the athletes cool. Negative: In just one month, my son and three of his friends have had their bikes stolen from the bike racks . PureGym should make a small effort and invest in secure bike racks so that users of the gym can exercise with the peace of mind that their bike will be there when they leave the gym. Keep in mind that the Fallowfield Loop is right next door. Many of the gym's customers cycle there.

Positive experience: It's Just About Doable This review has been a long time coming, having been a member for quite a few years. The equipment isn't always up to scratch, there always seems to be at least 1 item that has an 'Out of use' label on it. The overall appearance is just about adequate. But the men's changing rooms... OMG! There's been times when there's been no hot water for showering and remember the heatwave summer we had (2022 I think)? Well you guessed it, the air conditioning was broken all the way through it! To be fair it was because it was so unique it took them months to get the parts made, so they brought in some blower fans... But still, it wasnt ideal. And then there's the issue of guys pissing in the showers... RANK! For God's sake, have some respect people! The people who go to the gym are the best thing I reckon. Although Ive seen disputes in the past on the whole they're a friendly bunch who you can have a laugh with. There have been many times arrived alone then Ive ended up with a training partner for the evening whilst talking about techniques and different training regimes. They have a bit of a turnover of staff, but it's very easy to get tips off them and strike up a conversation, especially when they get used to your face. If I'm honest, the main reason for me staying is because it's in a convenient, local location in Debdale Park, with plenty of space to park. Which also means in summer you can chiil in the park after or before training , or even go for a run! To summarise, just about enough interior and equipment wise. People and atmosphere OK when you want to just get on and train.

Negative experience: So i use the gym daily and I picked up an injury forgetting everything was in the men's locker my headphones and everything else to come back after 5 days with the lock cut off and everything taken I asked members of staff and they have no idea security is very bad and need improvements I will definitely not be doing this again

Positive experience: It's not too bad here. The only thing is people don't tend to put the weights away after using them. They can be all over the place in the evening. The staff are helpful here and I've never had any problems with the type of people that go here. It has decent parking.

Negative experience: This gym has turned into a disgusting mess, changing rooms are used for charging laptops and phones and hammering WI-FI while someone uses the hand dryers to air out their balls, not even joking.

Positive experience: Was great staff were intelligent incisive and friendly I'd go again

Negative experience: The equipment is very old and worn out with some of it having tags from 2009, lots of ripped padding & no ventilation in some of the areas so it gets very stale very fast.the cleaning stations to wipe down some time people leave tissue on equipment v important last night guys make video it’s not good pls make sure for privacy.

Positive experience: Ok puregym in a strange area full of people who will give you weird looks and disobey usual gym etiquette. Worth the risk? Perhaps

Negative experience: It's a tiny gym but it's not that busy, the equipment is very old and worn out with some of it having tags from 2009, lots of ripped padding & no ventilation in some of the areas so it gets very stale very fast.the cleaning stations to wipe down the benches have now been removed from the free weights area so that's an infection waiting to happen & the bathrooms are disgusting often with urine and tissues all over the floor and seats

Fantastic experience: Good gym plenty of machines of variable types. Nothing flash, just able to do what you do at a gym without overpaying and being tied down.

Negative experience: Don't fall for the 'free upgrade' trick. If you later downgrade, you have to pay an additional monthly 'downgrade fee'. This coming after they'd already increased my fee just a few months ago.

Positive experience: Good gym, has pretty much everything you need with high quality equipment. Nobody puts their weights away though, really annoying.

Negative experience: As show from photo, gym is often messy and people don’t return equipment where is supposed to be. The gym put signs that people will be suspended from not returning equine to right place but people are still doing it. If you look at the photos you will be able to see that is pretty bad and not just that is not in place but is trip hazard. Equipment itself is really old and it seems like Puregym does not care because of the location of the gym as the ones in city center have new equipment. If you like classes there is not many classes, sometimes they will be two classes a day and that is in the morning.

Positive experience: Not many machines, all a bit old

Negative experience: Classes are constantly being cancelled on the day! Poor really when people are paying.....

Positive experience: It's very compartmentalized making it very different and kinda small compared to its size from the outside. Still very good value for money.

Negative experience: Gone right down hill all but 1 pts left at same time says alot.

Negative experience: All the equipments at this gym are so old and in very bad condition, which makes it hard to use the equipments properly. They keep increasing their membership prices but still failing to maintain their gym in a good condition. TV screens are always turned off. There was a clock on the wall which was broken few months ago and instead of fixing it they just took it off and never placed it back. The gym overall is very dirty and cleaning sprays are always empty. This gym needs a renovation!!

Positive experience: Ok, wish it had more sit n cycles

Negative experience: I am a regular 2-3 days a week in this gym as its local. Recently some changes have been made which I found very irritating. Loud music that blasts as if nobody else is in the gym. This is only for those special paid classes members so what is our fault here while management pays no attention. Repeatedly noticed some members won't name them shouting and screaming but nothing was done about it even though some people complained to managers. Although lots of trainers but I hardly seem them giving any free advice to anyone even if people are doing weights totally wrong. I feel this is wrong at so many levels. No new machines were introduced for years so old!

Positive experience: Used to go to this gym but most of the times the machines are faulty , such as the treadmills and the other machines are usually broken . However there’s a lot of machines to choose from . The gym gets busy a lot but it’s still a very good gym, definitely going to return soon

Negative experience: Honestly never been to a more scruffier gym! Everything was a mess, the Mens toilets was disgusting, used toilet tissues on the floor, p!ss all over the floor. The gym staff clearly don’t try maintain the gym. The staff should try to maintain the gym and keep it orderly… Yano what you’re paid to Do, lazy people.

Negative experience: Worst equipment ever look like 150 years old, weights all over the place , shower not open midnight what about people like me they work till late and want to have a work out and shower, whats the point of 24 hours gym? Very weird smell all over the gym aswell, I get my membership yesterday and today I am gonna cancel it.

Positive experience: Good equipment at gym and good location,however, check for busiest times as it can get extremely full and hard to get access to machines. There is also times when machines are not repaired for some time, this needs addressing as can be quite annoying if it's part of your fitness regime. The classes are great and included in your monthly fee,however, I feel they could extend on classes such as including Zumba.

Positive experience: Has the same equipment as 20 years ago When it was fitness first also free weight area dumb bells left all over the floor

Fantastic experience: Love the classes at Debdale, although we could definitely do with a few more on Fridays and weekends. Agi, Matt, Joshua, Alex, Nicole and Dom are all great and friendly PTs - Kelly and Josh are great at making sure moves are done the correct way. Love Debdale PureGym!

Negative experience: My experience of this gym is nothing short of sadness....To see how its gone downhill with lack of investment since day one is shameful from such a large gym group/ corporate ..

Positive experience: I don’t know what to think, there’s good and bad. They gym is okay … the showers really really really need an upgrade ! The equipment is okay but still in need of a upgrade. It’s the people in the gym mostly who disrespect it. Leaving weights around. Not putting stuff back. Blocking toilets ! It’s sad. Overall I would say it’s worth the money but needs a massive improvement.

Negative experience: The gym is super messy all of the time, people leave their dumbbells everywhere and don’t return them to their places. People who don’t return their dumbbells need to be held accountable like at other gyms I’ve been to and there needs to be a sign telling people this. It’s gone to the point where I have abs to go out of my way and tidy the area I’m trying to work out in. There’s also a lack of machines unlike other puregyms I’ve been to for example a hack squat.improvements need to be made and fast

Positive experience: Seems like a very well kept gym compared to some of the pure gyms I've visited, everything is kept clean and tidy, the free weights are usually all over the place but that's due to customers bad etiquette, not staff, they've got plenty of equipment to use so no waiting for people to finish.

Negative experience: it’s more than 2 months hip abductor is not working and staff is not helping out

Started off really nervous and full of anxiety due to suffering really bad with mental issues.. all I can say is the staff are amazing and so helpful jai was the one that help me a lot. Negative experience: Of all the gyms I have been to this is the worst by far. The layout of the gym is strange and inconvenient with loads of dingy little rooms with bits of equipment in them. Free weights are scattered around the place like confetti and are NEVER even close to be in order. The roof leaks in certain areas. Very poor ventilation. Full of people who are more interested in sizing you up than working out. The barcode scanner to get in and out of the gym is temperamental and doesn’t work sometimes. Certain areas of the gym smell absolutely disgusting at times. There is no deadlift area. Need I go on. Anyone who gives this gym five stars needs to go and try another gym and then reconsider their initial review. The only positive I can give is that the membership is the cheapest around and the gym doesn’t get too crowded even at peak times. Apart from that though it’s dreadful. I advice that people dig deeper into their pockets and go somewhere better.

Fantastic experience: Well laid out gym with plenty of spare room a studio and cycle room extra. Friendly members and staff. Even located so you can grab a cheeky takeaway after your sess

Positive experience: It could be 5 stars, but equipment needs an upgrade. Apart from that, the gym is great. Its spacious and not crowded even 5-7pm. This is the time i usually go and never had to wait for the equipment so far

Negative experience: The management should start putting their efforts into sorting out the place rather than finding excuses for why nothing works! Been reading the reviews people have been leaving on here and on their official page, over the last couple of months (which are poor for good reason!) but based on the management's responses it sounds like they're more interested in quoting irrelevant notifications and useless procedures than actually listening to the members and changing things for the better. It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be any genuine interest in customer feedback and satisfaction. Classes and/or instructors should be rated individually as some are great whereas others don't even bother turning up for their own classes on time. Class cancellations should be announced in a timely manner, ideally via email or at least a push notification rather than having to play a guessing game every time you want to head out to the gym. I'm very disappointed with my gym experience since I went back a few months ago, the only reasons I still go to this particular gym are (some of) the instructors and the fact that it's within walking distance from my house. I'm seriously considering moving from next month if no improvements are made. Such a shame

Fantastic experience: My second home. I work out 6 days a week. Can't fault then. Lovely gym. Enough equipment and the fact that it is 24/7 makes it lovelier.

Positive experience: Air con has been broke for over a week... other than that all the same as usual.

Negative experience: I don’t know what’s going on with this gym recently but you can 100% tell it has changed ownership or management because the place is being run like an absolute joke. No aircon for getting on 3 weeks now. Football prints on the windows for 3 weeks before they were cleaned off. Urine on the men’s toilet floor which is then being walked back out onto the gym floor where people are on their hands and knees training! Gym equipment missing off the gym floor. Broken mirror upstairs in the free weights that has been like that for weeks Litter all over the Car Park. Shambles. The PTs however are all polite, friendly and knowledgeable which makes the experience much better

Negative experience: I have been asking about the air con for weeks now as it was not working properly and yesterday was broke and will take 2 weeks to fix it was horrendous and so hot everyone was complaining, peoe will stop comin its only because of the great pts there why people go

Positive experience: It's great the gyms are able to open again, however, I went at a quieter time and the only things I could access were the cardio machines as all other equipment and workout space was occupied.

Negative experience: Avoid like the plauge joined up went to use the gym for the first time took ages for me to get my access code to work then got in to find no gym staff to be seen anywhere. After 25 mins I decided to leave, needless to say my direct debit is cancelled and I'll be pursuing a full refund.
