Positive experience: Safe, inclusive environment. Used by all abilities. Good availability of equipment at non-peak times. Could do with some upgraded equipment in some instances.

Fantastic experience: Best Gym Out there

Negative experience: Was swithering on joining Pure Gym and another local gym. Can't call Pure Gym to arrange to see the gym. Was told in an email to turn up between 9 and 5 and someone will happily show me around. Turned up at 10am this morning. Rang the bell twice, no answer. Waited 5 minutes incase they were busy doing something. Rang again, still no answer. Hope management reads this because your staff made my mind up for me. Drove straight to the other gym and signed a 12 month contract on the spot after being welcomed in and shown around.

Fantastic experience: I have started coming here at lunchtime, so haven't been when it's busy. It's spacious, has loads of different equipment, especially squat racks and functional trainers which are usually in short supply in other gyms. Also very clean and has plenty of parking. A+ I really like the pull up bar area they have round the back, which has dip bars and gymnastics rings which you never see in other gyms. Great wee place for a workout. It's also very clean. Have been to a few gyms and this is my favourite by far.

Positive experience: Clean, tidy, great machines but no staff here. I had to ask someone how to use the treadmill, as it was a brand I’m not used to. I’m not sure how it would work if someone had an accident. There is a lift, and two pods to get in. You enter your code or scan it from your phone. There are single human sized pods to enter to stop anyone getting in without a pass. The pods IMO are very small and a struggle for plus size people or those who carry huge gym bags. They also may be difficult for those with claustrophobia. They only close when they sense you aren’t at the door. The pods certainly couldn’t let people through on wheelchairs but I assume there is another way, as there are disabled toilets and lifts. There is a lift inside and clean toilets and showers, it would be good if there were toilets on both floors although there is a disabled toilet upstairs. You can enter this gym 24/7. Overall it’s my fav gym and I’d recommend. A suggestion would be to get the treadmills with built in TV’s but I expect this would bump up the price.

Negative experience: Avoid avoid and void this space

Positive experience: Not bad, but it's understaffed, music isn't playing loud enough... Full of kids and teenagers who occupy the machines just for fun, chatting with friends, flirting with girls and having fun and others can't exercise...(Some of us has only limited time to go the gym like me on my lunch break) Staff they do not care about anyone nor anything, they also stand together and chat with no care in the world or they're not there at all... And serious paying customers suffer because of the negligence of the staff...

Negative experience: This gym is “ok”. People in the gym are a different story everyone dirty looks you or stares at you while on a machine till you move like they will stand and just stare till you finish. It’s beyond uncomfortable. Men coming up to me dropping their stuff at my feet and saying “I’m next” then go on to stand right next to me until I’m done. When that happens I get uncomfortable finish early and just go home. Everyone else ether doesn’t wipe down machines which is vile nothing worse than going onto a machine covered in sweat or they just make you so uncomfortable. I use to love working out here but going to drop my membership because it’s so uncomfortable and unwelcoming being stared at while I’m working out. Also staff are just no where to be found. I’ve wanted to complain once or twice because I’ve said to people that I won’t be done I’ve just started and they’ve became quite rude about it but no staff to help me out or talk to. Can’t believe I’ve been spending money here for so long.

In Broxburn we have just 1 gym and so expensive and not good service I think if you will open gym in Broxburn you will have a lot of clients and also I want be your client in Broxburn I haven't car and I can't come every time by bus from Livingston and I think from another people it's also don't comfortable, we hope you will open in our city

Fantastic experience: Large gym in central Livingston For the price this place has an excellent range of equipment Ideal for all levels of gym experience Clean internally and well maintained equipment. Use when visiting home and drive past 4 other gyms to as this is much better

Fantastic experience: Good facilities

Positive experience: It's a gym that does what it needs to. Sure, it may be missing some machines, but the ones they have are of good quality and are all you'll really need. I only have one complaint, the Powerlifting racks don't have safety bars, this is pretty dangerous in my opinion and is also a pretty easy fix.

Positive experience: Overhaul a good gym with a great choice of resistance machines and cardio equipment. Let down by customers not cleaning machines and people clogging up machines whilst doing nothing but using their phones.

Positive experience: The gym / equipment are fine. Shower temperature is terrible. It was it's usual tepid temperature on Friday and Monday but on Saturday it was so cold I ended up covered in goose bumps. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to wash yourself trying to avoid the water? I wouldn't recommend using this gym if you want a decent shower at the end of it. Pretty sure the North Sea is currently warmer.

Fantastic experience: More or less u can do most of stuff . Free weights, cardio, studio, machines, lightweights. One thing whats missing is sauna- as to have after workout( would be nice to have them build it- of course for little higher price ) .

Positive experience: Plenty space , good range of equipment but the equipment needs q good scrub - treadmills were covered in dust qt the front , bikes have dried up drips of sweat or water down them . It wasn’t just from the day before - they need to regularly properly clean all the equipment - not just wipe the top . Ps changing rooms are spotless

Positive experience: Love this gym, clean great equipment there is a problem with some equipment not turning on however there is enough to move over one. App is amazing gives you easy access to the gym by scanning your own qr code.

Fantastic experience: If your independent in the gym and can confidently do your own thing, PureGym is perfect. Clean & spacious facilities. Modern equipment. The app let's you know the best off-peak times, which suits me best. 24 hour access. Can't really fault it.

Positive experience: Nice gym on way from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Good facilities with good layout. Could do with some more benches in free weight area. Also some new attachments for cables. Clean and tidy gym with quite a few team members around.

Negative experience: The gym itself is fine, plenty of equipment, clean, etc. My low rating is based on PureGym as a company - they re-activated my membership after lockdown without telling me and I've been charged for over a year without noticing (yeah, some of that is my fault but I thought the bill was my wife's gym). Incredibly frustrating that they could just re-start billing with no notice.

Positive experience: Been a member for 5 years now. It's a decent gym with plenty of equipment. They seem to have upped their game with regards to cleaning the last few months with the place and particularly the gents showers much cleaner. I don't go at peak times of day, so can't comment on that. Going through a full refurb which is needed. It's a little inconvenient, but it will be worth it in the long run. Staff are very creative with making sure spare space is utilised with equipment during the disruption, which at least allows you to get a decent workout in.

Positive experience: Awesome place. Reading reviews made me laugh. Some people might have misunderstood their doctors. If you are injured during training, it's not because 'it was too cold', but because 'you weren't warmed up enough' – if the former would be true, I would be injured after every long run in winter. About the music. Yes, it's annoying (because it's not music, it's just a generic chewing gum of sound), but very much needed. Its purpose is to mask grunts, puffs, and other sounds people make during training, which other people have no pleasure listening to for an hour (edit: plus people chatting loudly with no regard to people around them). The only annoying thing (and it's not up to the staff, it's the members!) is disappearing/migrating equipment. Missing carabiners on cable machines renders them useless! Put back the equipment to its place when you are done, people! Please!

Positive experience: Back here after moving from jd gyms (excercise4less) for a few years. Much better atmosphere, and not so many kids. Will be great once refurb completed

Negative experience: One device of each type while people listen to music and chat on the phone for long periods, blocking the device for 10mins+ frequently. It's demotivating and hard to complete a set of exercises in an allocated time frame.

Positive experience: App continually logging its self out which means having to re log in and re input PIN. Been happening for months, very irritating.

Negative experience: The place is a mess and dirty.. very disappointing compared to the other PureGyms I've visited/ used to be a member at ‍♂️

Positive experience: Recent upgrade was more of a re-paint and move some equipment about. New cycle studio looks okay and the classes area is better. Quite good having large lifting rigs in the free weights as there was a lack of squat racks before now. A few new bits of equipment have been added in like a hip thrust machine which is nice. The whole place could do with some better lightning though it's all just a bit office-like. The staff all seem lovely though.

Fantastic experience: Customers were cleaning machines as advised by the signage. Felt safe. Social distancing in place. Staff were also seen cleaning the machines. Sanitiser available.

Fantastic experience: I've been using this puregym and the one in Stirling for a couple of years now and it really is a great gym. The equipment is great, the staff are always friendly and ready to help, the workout spaces are great and there's quite a nice sense of community in there as customers are usually very polite to each other too. I'm a trained PT myself so I there may be a bit of biased there but I really enjoy this gym. Overall great gym, would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: I have recently been attempting to train at Pure gym Livingston only to be harassed by the PT's and supposed management for no valid reason other than they are bullies and were bored. I have been questioned on 3 separate occasions in 2 training sessions if I was a PT. I suppose this can be taken as a compliment of course in one aspect, however whilst actually training this is not a pleasant experience to receive especially when you are trying to de-stress and get fit. As far as it goes for the actual PTs themselves they must felt either intimidated by how well I set up a circuit with my sister in law and her friend, or they felt like being bullies and had no way to let out their frustrations. However, to the point of why I am writing this. NIGHT 1, Occasions 1: Near the end of my training session I was taking a break from training and was asked if I was a PT I of course replied no, because I'm not a PT. That then was the end of that... Until a younger girl who I can only assume is a cleaner decided to chase me and tell me that bags aren't allowed on the gym floor. I made a mistake there I have to admit but I was leaving anyways. That same cleaning girl was hovering around us for most of the night making it uncomfortable as she was watching us train. Not exactly a place for de-stress if you ask me. NIGHT 2, Occasions 2; During my training session I was asked twice if I was a PT. First was the "Manager" who was actually the guy I spoke to the first night. I made it clear to the "manager" I am not a PT. Then later on in the training session during a circuit (I was participating in) I was asked again by a different PT if I was one. I explained to this person who questioned my integrity that I am not a PT and I was training. I wasn't rude and I wasn't raising my voice but this guy decided to stay and attempt to lecture me even though my sister in law and I told him 6 times I wasn't a PT and I was training. Now I am very aware that you need liability insurance and to pay rent for the use of the gym and of course I don't have to do any of that because I am NOT a PT. I just need to pay my fee like anyone else who wishes to train at Pure gym with friends/family or alone. I can honestly say I have never seen such clique tactics by staff in a gym. If your face doesn't fit then don't train should be Pure gyms slogan.
