Andover Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Don’t get me wrong i absolutely adore the gym but the parking situation is absolutely awful. They should make the car park just for the gym users ,which should be included in the membership price. Otherwise i waste so much time just looking for parking space not to mention i have to pay for it .

Fantastic experience: Great climbing place, my granddaughter had her 8th birthday here and her friends and herself had a brilliant time with the various climbing walls, really helpful staff looked after them and the room provided afterwards was a good size so we could seat 20 if we needed them and plenty of room to put out the food we provided.

Negative experience: Have spent months trying to book plates and aqua classes but they are always fully booked. Finally got a spot last week, arrived 20 mins early only to not get a parking space, resulting in not making it to the class and loosing my money. Have managed to book another class for this week so plan to get there at least an hour early to allow time for parking so fingers crossed

Negative experience: Gym area is okay, there are way too many people sitting on equipment while staring at very very important nonsense on their mobile phones. Some people go to the gym to exercise on that equipment. Front desk staff are generally rude with a smattering of the down right obnoxious. Moving on thanks.

Positive experience: Really nice, clean and modern. The mocha and hot chocolate in the cafe is delicious. More opening hours for learner pool would be very beneficial.

Positive experience: Went to use the soft play centre with my granddaughter. Equipment is great & she loves it there. My only 3 gripes are - 1) the café is way too expensive which means lots of people bring in their own food to eat at the tables in the general area. This results in lots of mess as the café staff are not responsible for cleaning those tables or sweeping up debris. 2) the ticket scanner is a bit hit or miss - mostly it doesn't work at all which is frustrating. 3) The session which is paid for is 1 hour, however lots of parents stay way longer than that. I'm assuming the scanner doesn't accept the tickets after an hour but parents were telling their children to just wait for someone to come out & just go on in. Because the parents inside know the scanner doesn't work well they tend to open the door when they see a child waiting outside anyway, assuming the ticket just isn't scanning. I did not see a member of staff inside the play area at any time so I don't know how they monitor how many children are inside.

Positive experience: times open are limited and the gym lacks a lot of equipment that you could find in other places in andover, small gym. but i like the amount of activities, you can go swimming, do tennis, play badminton, go to the sauna etc

Positive experience: Good place, lots of services

Negative experience: The quality of the centre is ok, my issue only sat with staff members, very rude, mainly the elderly (50s/60s) lady receptionist who’s was very rude and needs to learn the customer service smile and good communication skills, maybe some retraining would help this issue for the centre and make people feel far more comfortable when arriving.

Negative experience: Not a terrible leisure centre but it’s let down by a lack of maintenance and managements seeming unwanting to pay for staff and upkeep. Lockers broken for months at a time, locker keys either missing or no/old broken straps, gym equipment that is literally falling apart, swimming changing rooms and showers that are gross. The whole centre is in need of an extensive deep clean and overhaul. Squash courts were resurfaced recently so there’s that….. Good luck trying to get in some of the classes though, even trying to book 2 weeks ahead, most spaces are gone.

Positive experience: Gym equipment is ok . But the parking situation. Absolutely terrible. 90% of time there is not one single space to park. Its very small car park . And it even paid . I already pay for my membership and still have to pay for car park….

Fantastic experience: Probably the most important place in the Andover community. Always kept very clean and greeted by the warm and friendly staff at the front desk, who are always willing to help.

Positive experience: Was a rainy day, so wanted to take grandchildren swimming, no places left so did soft play instead. Kept them amused for an hour so we'll worth the £11.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and friendly place,with plenty to do.

Positive experience: I have been using the gym for a while, it has a good weight section as well as a good CV suite. I question the deep cleanliness of it sometimes. Mainly the padded core and stretching areas. They look fairly dirty and don’t often see them being properly cleaned. Bearing in mind they soak up a lot of sweat and dirt.

Positive experience: Did the clip and climb with my son. Excellent facility and good safety briefing. 2 out of the 3 staff were good, the other was fairly gormless and just wanted to talk about his car.

Negative experience: Joke of a place! Staff do not understand starting times, booked clipped and climb, 8 other kids suppose to start at 1430, due to the useless staff just standing there they did not come out to climb till 1500! Only gave them half hour and no apology so kids got half hour climb and not 1 hour! AVOID this place! Soft play full to the brim too many kids kids crying and older ones allowed in again joke of staff!!!! AVOID or watch your kid cry

Fantastic experience: The active play and bounce is fantastic, my child truly enjoys it with his friends.

Positive experience: Clip"n"climb This is a great little place to come and play. It wasn't very busy today, but the two instructors were too busy chatting to each other to pay attention to the climbers they had. Making the children wait for help, just because the instructors were disinterested. Such a shame.

Negative experience: Shockingly dirty and no visible cleaning for months.

Negative experience: Cleanliness is very disappointing. Kids swimming waiting area is disgustingly dirty and floor hasn't been cleaned for months. I have given several feedbacks for months, sent several emails and no response at all, no improvement. It is getting worse week by week. Kids walk there barefoot but still they can't be bothered to at least sweep it. Shocking lack of interest and ignorance.

Positive experience: Facilities are good however I think their pool time table needs reviewing longer time to just swim would be better

Negative experience: I went to the gym here for months and can finally say I quit. The gym was constantly overcrowded and would constantly struggle to get on any equipment aside from cardio and even that gets busy despite going at earlier hours or the less busy hours. I'm not surprised considering how limited the opening hours are. There's alot of steps to my routine so not being able to get on any equipment even early on felt uncomfortable, and that includes some cardio which even got busy. Because of this I had a trip to the gym which ended up being 30 minutes longer. If I wanted to go to a gym were standing still was the exercise this would be it. I don't understand how they could or are allowed to let so many people in at one time. That being said the staff are friendly and kind!

Positive experience: Love going to the gym just a shame that the bottom end is mostly full up, I can never get on the benches and do my weights.

Negative experience: Awful service. The gym was nice but changing rooms awful: smelly and dirty. Random things like sanitary wrappers and plasters on the floor. Most showers didn't work which is disappointing for a fairly new facility. Membership is advertised as rolling but on my receipt stated I had a minimum join of 2 installments. Was told membership could be cancelled any time but when I asked to cancel was told that I needed 2 weeks notice. I only wanted to cancel because my card was lost and contacted them about it 7 days prior to payment being due. Stung with a 45 pound bill for 'lateness fee'.

Negative experience: The gym is going downhill fast. Prices are constantly going up, yet equipment breaks and doesn't get fixed for several weeks, the aircon has been permanently switched off (which is actually a health hazard in hot weather) and they keep cutting staff hours, so the gym isn't manned most of the day. They send out feedback surveys but never actually take the feedback on board. I used to enjoy training here but I would actually recommend training anywhere else now.

Fantastic experience: Took 2 grandsons for clip'n'climb. Very good experience - safety film first, waivers signed, harnesses fitted & off they all went. Lots of people to clip them on lines. Well organised - greatly enjoyed by all.

Fantastic experience: Only used the soft play area with my grandson. He loves it so it must be good. The appearance of the leisure centre looks great, I just can't comment on the facilities.

Positive experience: Went to watch my granddaughter (4) swimming and she did very well. Good looking class with plenty of equipment and at least 2 teachers per group, one of whom was in the water....excellent

Fantastic experience: First time using the leisure centre since it reopened a couple of years ago took my granddaughter to soft play she had a lovely time plenty of seats outside and the cafe and toilet right opposite

Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming, good changing facilities, a lovely splash area. We have also done the active play and bounce for parties which is fantastic for 5 and under.

Positive experience: The center is grate clean tide and staff are very pleasant. If your going to go swimming with a baby or toddler, be warned the pool is very cold. Paid for a full hour slot but ended up leaving after about 30mins as everyone was cold and are grandchild was blue lipped and shivering. So value for money at the moment is very poor hence the 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: The roller skating disco (Sk8 House Disco) on Saturdays between 4pm and 6pm are great for the whole family! Adults have to be brave to join in but they have a number of helpers to assist you to settle in and find your balance. There were free skates available to borrow for the small £7 entrance fee on that occasion, with lots of protective elbows, knees, and wrists pads to choose from. If you want to wear a helmet as well then you can probably use a bike helmet. It shouldn't be necessary though. Even on my first ever visit I was able to learn to stay up in the special learning area that they have set up with helpers on hand. The music is great and children really love it! We will definitely visit again!

Negative experience: Got told I can't have a replacement membership card.

Positive experience: The clip and climb is fantastic. Relatively small but nicely intimate. Plus the Leap of Faith is included

Positive experience: The leisure centre has pretty good facilities overall. The gym is really well equipped and would say that's the best part of the leisure centre. The centre seems great for families as it has soft play, a small climbing wall for children, lots of family sessions in the pool and a cafe. The pool is ok but the changing rooms are very cold, and it would be great if there was a woman's only swim session. The "just swim" sessions are also very busy and it's difficult to get a full length in without stopping to let people on either side of you coming towards you through, which can get really frustrating. I got kicked in the pool by a passing swimmer so feel as though the amount of people let in to each session should be far more limited. Especially as I've seen pregnant ladies using the pool. The classes are good and the instructors seem great, but they get so busy I haven't actually been able to book onto many. There is an option to be notified when a space becomes available on a class, but even with notifications enabled on the app they only send an email, so by the time I see an email the space has gone. However, considering it has the most expensive membership in town, you would expect free parking and as far as I know it's the only gym in town that doesn't have free parking. So it can get really costly if you add the price of parking to your membership costs. Not only that, but the pay and display car parks aren't big enough. I was booked in for a Sunday morning yoga class and ended up being late because none of the car parks close by had any spaces. If I'd have known about the parking before signing up, I would have got a membership elsewhere

Positive experience: Went swimming with my son and he thoroughly enjoyed it. There ddidnt appear to be any showers other than those in place for entering and exiting the pool which is a downside but otherwise it was a good experience.

Positive experience: Great facilities, and plenty of classes. Water fountains and small cafe aswell as great changing facilities and both padlock and coin lockers.

Negative experience: Nice pool ,just shame they don't do family swimming in the evenings on weekdays,not everyone available take kids just on the weekends. Its not required much,just keep a lane or 2 for parents to come and enjoy water with their kids.

Positive experience: Been going with my wife and 2 small kids to the swimming and soft play. Changing rooms could really do with having at lest double the amount of family changong areas, it's frustrating trying to find a free one and the lockers are tiny and a lot are broken. Soft play could be bigger, it's not great when 12 and 13 year old kids are charging around while your 2 and 4 year old are attempting to enjoy themselves. It's not horrible there but it's not amazing and for Andover it's on par with everything else I suppose.

Positive experience: Nice new leisure centre. Has pool, gym, spin classes, squash courts. Worth signing up for membership to get beat value if your planning in using alot.

Positive experience: I only use this Leisure Centre for swimming. I used to go to the gym but found it a very unsociable place. Swimming has more friendlier people.

Positive experience: Little disappointed if I’m honest. Really looking forward to the family inflatable session but really disappointed that there is no option to go in the pool unless you are actually on the inflatable. The two pools are booked as separate activities so no opportunity to just be in the pool. The only water time is swimming from the end of the inflatable to get out of the pool. The kids enjoyed themselves with their dad but the description of the activity on the website should be clearer. It’s also a shame the two pools have their sessions starting and finishing at completely different times as this would make it really awkward if you had children of different ages/swimming abilities. The reception staff were really helpful and apologetic and arranged a refund for my booking.

Fantastic experience: Andover leisure centre looks like an impressive facility. My 2 year old grandson was there for a swimming lesson which looked very well done. They have at least two pools, a soft play area and other facilities we did not see, there is also a nice cafe.

Fantastic experience: My two boys (7, 10) had a great time with their friends at the centre's Clip N Climb and Soft Play. It's a regular day out for them...

Positive experience: The gym is a good size, and pool is well maintained. Good variety of swim lane times around clubs/lessons. However parking is not free before 4pm. I would expect parking to be free or refundable for centre users as is the case at most lesuire centres I've been to.

Positive experience: Based on pool side only. My kids do their swimming lessons here. They have been going for a couple of months and seen huge improvements. Although, the children seem to bunch up and teachers don’t spread them out as well as as they could. Facilities are great and clean. Family fun is good with lots of toys for kids to play with. Family inflatable is a waste of money. £6.80 pp and we got about 4 goes on it and their risk assessment is extreme to the customer’s detriment. They also play music and I wasn’t impressed one of the songs had swearing in it. I won’t be doing this again but will still go for the lessons and family fun. Clip and Climb. Kids have been twice and love it.worth the money and the instructors are really good with the kids.

Negative experience: Hardly any parking nearby. Oddly laid out. Strange place.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful leisure centre, really friendly and helpful staff. There are loads of different activities apart from the gym, sports hall and swimming pools including an extensive group exercise program with freestyle, yoga and Les mills classes. Good prices with discounted full memberships for under 25s and option to add children free of charge plus when joining you automatically become a member of Romsey rapids too!

Fantastic experience: For a small town leisure centre this facility is up there. Lots of stuff for the kids, squash and badminton, decent gym, swimming pool and sauna and lots of studios, all of which are in a new(ish) state.

Fantastic experience: Great for the children of all ages. 12 & 8 year old went on clip n climb, while 2 year old played in the soft play area with mum & I sat between the two areas, watching while looking after the baby, with a coffee. Great. Tables were a little dirty with drink spills, at 10am but easily remedied

Fantastic experience: The biggest compliment I can give is that my daughter wants to come again tomorrow. A great time at a nominal cost.

Negative experience: Happy with the facilities but it’s a struggle to cancel the membership. The staff had confirmed on the phone that they have cancelled the membership only for my account to be debited at the end of the month. This has happened to me twice in a row. I am not sure if it’s the training issue but I will suggest to go in to cancel your membership.

Positive experience: Brilliant pool, swim a few times a week

Fantastic experience: We went to a step class, and it was very good. Changing rooms are reasonably clean and receptionists kind. On saturday, the coffe shop isn't open for a long time.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the new leisure centre, it's big and fresh and open. It has a lovely professional finish and has so much on offer! The gym has incredible equipment and machines and typically has good availability (at least at the times I go). The large pool is lovely, it's just a shame there are no areas to dive/jump in as I miss that very much and am hoping to start teaching my LO soon. The learner pool is brilliant with a floor that changes height and a splash area that is good fun (especially for toddlers!). The last time I visited we attended a toddler play session in the main hall which was awesome. They had an enormous inflatable assault course and a smaller inflatable bouncy castle as well as lots of soft play items and stuff to do. The two toddlers I brought along had a blast and it was well worth it. The soft play area in the main reception is always a hit with the kids as well and there is a fun clip-and-climb section for the bigger kids too. Their exercise class offering is great with plenty of choice and plenty of spaces too. All-in-all a very well thought-out leisure space and I'm super impressed!

Positive experience: Working in the construction industry, Andover leisure centre is the perfect example of what happens when the main contractor is given the budget before considering the place's actual usage requirement. Under the guise of spending public money well, public money is misspent long term. Shame.

Positive experience: I love going to the gym here. I also enjoy swimming and badminton too. The staff are helpful and accommodating. The only letdown is that they shut so early at the weekend

Negative experience: The place is nice ! You have everything you need for being an active person. The problem is the parking ? I mean if you pay your membership for example 30 £ and go at the gym before 4 pm , you pay for parking every single time 1 £ , which at the end you have spent here 50 - 60 £ ! I wish they have a policy or a parking for gym , or to refund the customers the parking !
