The Apollo Gym: Opinions
Negative experience: poor hygiene. members dont re-rack the weights. owners dont care much about the gym
Fantastic experience: No pain, no gain! Good gym with all the equipment you need to work all muscle groups
Negative experience: I used to workout at the apollo gym there is no space to workout and there is no privacy in the bathroom that y I left that gym cus it too small for me
Negative experience: I'm not sure how they have a rating of 4.2 out of 5 but I'll give my honest take. I've been a member of the gym for 2 months in the past but I didn't renew . 2 months is plenty of time to make a fair assessment. The good: 1 - No joining fee and no contract. You pay using the app and you're in for a month. 2 - Parking. I rarely used the gym in busy periods but whenever I needed to I found parking just in front of the main doors. The bad: 1 - Smell - as soon as you enter for the first time there is a smell and it's always there. It could be damp or maybe some old damaged sewage pipe. Whatever it is, it's an awful smell. 2 - The price, for £15 you get access for a month, but when you realise what that access is to, you'll agree it's not worth it. 3 - The cardio equipment, it's in a terrible state and they don't have much. The rowing machine is filthy and they haven't replaced the batteries. The climber is out of service and has been broken for at least 3 weeks. One of the treadmills has a damaged belt and the other a broken arm. The cross trainer is somehow still standing despite the plastic covers being off. They have 3 cycling machines which are working but due to space, only 1 can be used at a single time. 4 - Space - there really isn't much space in the gym, too much equipment for such a small space. For the amount of weights and strength equipment they need a space twice the size. There is a reason why the pictures online are black and white. 5 - Strength equipment - so many of equipment pieces are filthy, they haven't wiped them down probably since the gym opened. The hip adductor has been broken since I joined and despite them saying they would fix it they haven't. 6 - Weights - many of the members just don't put the weights back to the original location. There is a good amount but should you have to go around the gym to find 1 dumbell is nowhere near the other. Conclusion: Don't bother joining the gym, it's in a terrible state and even at £15 it's overpriced. Since then I have joined another gym.
Fantastic experience: Great old school gym, very friendly no posers taking selfies every 2 min holding up the equipment.
Fantastic experience: super salle de sport très propre et convenable. Ambiance et vestiaire au top
Thank You
Fantastic experience: Great strength gym with none of the modern pitfalls so many have fallen into. Cold, iron everywhere, polite staff and members just getting on with workouts. Some might accuse it of being 'basic', but that's nonsense. It has everything you need for any work out.
Positive experience: Ste logan and the lads try hard to keep the place on top
Fantastic experience: Proper old school man's gym
Thanks Dean
Fantastic experience: One of the best and most easy going and friendly gyms I've ever been to weldone
Fantastic experience: Proper gym, not another fitness club where you have to wait for equipment cause people are busy taking photos on Snapchat
Positive experience: Great friendly little gym the basics are there for a good work out.
Positive experience: Great old school gym — 5 stars Poor hygiene and a constant trip hazard — 1 star. Gyms like this are rarity. They can be both old school and clean at the same time. Weak enforcement by staff on members. Some consideration should at least be given to those that are unhygienic (often training topless) to clean up after themselves.
Fantastic experience: Great gym....hardcore training. Staff are very polite and helpful . Lots of weights and equipment. £20 per month..open 8 till 10 great hours.
