Negative experience: Smells awful and missing basic handles and broken machines

Fantastic experience: Best gym I've been to, if I'm honest. Shame it doesn't have a pool, as it would be perfect then!

Fantastic experience: Spacious inside. Plenty of machines and can usually get on what you want. Kept reasonably maintained and clean. Good changing facilities and lockers.

Fantastic experience: My second home. A great calisthenics area that's got me hooked till this day.

Negative experience: Just had my first session here and while I can't fault the equipment or facilities it has to be a 1 star as I have never been in such a filthy and stinking shower and sauna in my life! The sauna had an odd odour, could over look this but the showers smell like the urinals go straight into the same drain! It literally made my eyes sting! I have never experienced something like this in a gym. Can someone let me know is this normal or you guys having issues? This feels like a serious public health issue some feed back on this would be greatly appreciated

Negative experience: Probably one of the worst gyms I’ve been to. Overcrowded, equipment is too close together, especially the free weight section so constantly tripping up over eachother. 100% avoid.

Positive experience: Excellent variety of machines and other exercise options, love that it's open 24 hrs so I can get down there early doors, Reasonably priced for the monthly fee too so highly recommended. Does get extremely busy at certain times of the day, so I suggest to find a time that suits you.

Positive experience: Overall a good gym with good equipment and well maintained. But it's baffling to me that a gym would install a full gymnastics rig and then prohibit the use of loose chalk, really limiting for people who train calisthenics. I train at JD gyms all over the country and have never had this issue. Feels very counter intuitive

Negative experience: Really overcrowded, could be waiting for equipment even at 9pm. Patrons leave equipment / weights / dumbbells all in wrong spot but given no penalty for it. Parking is atrocious with people parking in disabled bays cause they don’t wanna walk the extra few metres. Same for EV charging. It is a good gym but the people let it down massively.

Positive experience: The overall condition is acceptable but some machines are old. Super busy between 5 to 7 pm.

Fantastic experience: After leaving the Village gym I decided to make a change to jds gym which was same distance to where my home is. The price you are paying at jd gym South Leeds well worth the money. It comes down to the friendly staff members who actually respect they customers. Hygiene standards is upto date. Even the cleaners on the night shift are amazing too. This jd gym in South Leeds is the one to leave any gym in this area defo recommended They exercise equipment is amazing too love it Staff members are friendly, respected, and allways smiling not like village health and fitness who don't respect they loyal customers. Thanks to Tom who actually sorted my entry out so I didn't have to keep pressing the button. Well done Jd gym south Leeds you are doing a amazing job Thanks

Negative experience: Hi, I've given 2 stars not because I don't like the gym or equipment but my problem is the gym is just very unsanitary. I go there and there's either dirt or dust everywhere which makes me get really bad allergies. Also every time recently I'm leaving the gym with bites on my legs as if there's bugs in the gym biting me. I think it needs a really good clean and bug spray. I've noticed I'm not the only one to experience this issue. It needs fixing. I've been a member for 2 years and only recently over the past few months been having this problem.

Negative experience: I have been a member of this gym for several years and while I appreciate the convenience and variety of equipment offered, there are a some areas that need attention. Firstly, all foam rollers have been broken for quite some time. Foam rollers are essential for pre and post-workout routines, and having functioning ones would greatly enhance the gym experience. Secondly, the cleanliness of the toilets could be improved a lot. Keeping these facilities clean and well-maintained is crucial for the comfort and health of all members. Lastly, some of the electrical equipment, such as hand dryers, are often out of order. Reliable hand dryers are important for maintaining hygiene standards. I hope these issues can be addressed promptly to ensure a better experience for all members. Staff as well are great and always willing to help. Thank you!

Negative experience: Partner paid for a 1 off visit at £10. Staff member let her in without saying hello, introducing himself, asking if she had ever trained before, didnt show her the bathrooms, showers or where anything was. As a personal trainer your job is to make people feel comfortable and confident to attend the gym. Clear attitude from the young man was ‘cant be bothered.’ Shameful staff you employ JD gym Leeds south! And to clarify we saw another person pay for a one off who was alone and received the same lack of service.

Positive experience: Was good gym few months ago but lately been very bad service, people always waiting for attention for long time and equipment is not getting serviced quick enough, simple thing as hand dryer been broken for over 3 weeks‍♂️

Negative experience: I started going to this gym 3/4 years ago after starting my new job in Leeds & because I’m from Huddersfield I was signed up to there gym so I upgraded to a multi membership, I have recently reactivated the membership after a few months off but jd south gym is no longer included so I requested a transfer & was happy to pay the increased monthly amount as I have always enjoyed coming to this gym how ever you have terminated my membership, given me a refund & now asking me for a joining fee which I think is ridiculous & unfair, on top of this I came to the gym today to see if we can get the fee waved & get me signed back up where I was given an extremely cold greeting by a male staff member named DOM who recommended I try signing up tomorrow when the website doesn’t have joining fee, instead of trying to get me signed up there & then so I could have a session, he didn’t even offer me to train until this issue was resolved - I will be signing back up to gym for convenience purposes, this complaint is to express how unwelcome that staff member made me feel, I left feeling embarrassed, upset & unmotivated when I just wanted to train, it’s a shame because the staff in that gym have always been really welcoming & can’t believe how unwelcoming & cold his demeanour was towards on BOTH occasions THIS WEEK when I have had to deal with him, so now I have no membership at all & can’t attend any gym & when I have tried to come in to try get it sorted I’ve left u able to train with no membership AT ALL - the amount of months I’ve gone previously without attending the gym & still paid my membership new once asking for the money back & this is how I’ve treated because you want to charge me £6 extra & £10 joining fee? The amount of money your business makes & you’ve terminated my membership over £6 it’s disgusting

Fantastic experience: Great gym with plenty of equipment. My personal trainer seb is amazing!!! Could not recommend him enough to anyone. So knowledgeable about his job and is incredibly kind, understanding and any questions or struggles even after a session is finished, he's only more than happy to help. Would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Fantastic experience: My first ever experience of going to a gym and I love it. The staff are exceptional and very supportive, as a very unfit woman it was very daunting to even walk through the door but I have been made very welcome. I have been having PT sessions with Sebastian, his amazing knowledge and constant support will help me achieve my weight loss and fitness goals, I’m already seeing progress after only a few weeks.

Positive experience: I recently joined JD Gyms South Leeds, as my gym in town closed down. Here's my honest assessment of the experience: Pros: Ample Space and Equipment: The gym boasts a generous floor space, providing plenty of room to move around even during peak hours. It's refreshing to have breathing space while working out. Diverse Weight Selection: For weightlifters and strength trainers, The gym offers an extensive array of weights, catering to various fitness levels and training preferences. Cons: Maintenance Issues: Unfortunately, the equipment maintenance falls short of expectations. Several machines are in need of repair, and the overall upkeep could be improved significantly. Strap and Cable Concerns: The abductor machine, cable matrix machines, and other equipment requiring straps or cables are particularly affected. Many of these components are worn out and overdue for replacement, or not available at all, detracting from the workout experience. Room for Expansion: While the gym offers a decent selection of equipment, there's potential for further expansion, especially in areas where machines are lacking or outdated. JD Gyms South Leeds has the foundation for an exceptional fitness center with its spacious layout and extensive weight collection. However, addressing maintenance issues and investing in equipment upgrades, particularly for machines like the weights machines and cable matrix machines, would elevate the gym's appeal and enhance the overall workout experience for members.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best gyms that I've ever trained at in the UK! It's massive, there's a lot of equipment, machines etc depending on what your training regime is and the sheer amount of options are staggering! I much prefer the music here than at my current gym near where I live as it seems to have a more vast variety of tunes! The ceiling lighting both neon and bright is perfect for photos after my training sessions! The staff have always been super friendly to me and I get a lot of motivation from seeing them train and teach their classes! Special thanks to Seb Brunet, my main core PT and one of my great friends for selling me on this place! I have trained with him for 4 years now and he is one of the nicest and absolute best PT's that I've ever had! I was very lucky to find someone like him to do this as we have so much in common and I owe him a lot for helping me to stay motivated enough to work on the figure that I have now! I only train here in the mornings so I'm never really around during perk time which means that I never really have to wait to get onto anything but I can imagine that it can be pretty manic! But either way though I would definitely recommend this place especially since it's 24 hours so you can come in whenever you want!

Positive experience: I’ve been using this gym for some time now, over the years I’ve used various gyms and JD Gyms has been my favorite by far. Decent atmosphere inside and a good range of machines and equipment. I tend to utilise the a number of the classes where they fit around my work schedule and have met a number of really good trainers who run the classes such as Nicole, Katy, Matt and Greg and I always these guys friendly, informative and professional whenever I attend the Gym and I find their classes challenging but enjoyable. There is always a good variety of different exercises within each class so it doesn't really feel repetitive. In September/October 2023 I decided to add personal training sessions twice a month and as he had taken classes that I had attended, I decided to work with Sebastian. He took the time to discuss what I wanted to achieve and work on so that he could deliver the right content for each session. He is a really friendly and amenable guy, has great interpersonal skills and maintains a good level of professionalism throughout. If I need to change the time or date of the PT sessions its never a problem. In general I would recommend this Gym to anyone, I think it represents great value for money for what you have access to. Yes, at peak times its a nightmare to park and it can become a bit of a free for all but I am not too sure that there is anything JD can do about it, there is only so much space available... !!

Have had really productive and innovative coaching sessions with Sebastien and pleasant encounters with all other staff members I've met

Fantastic experience: Have been back in this gym since October. Using Seb Brunet as my PT. Seb is an excellent personal trainer, his sessions are always varied and challenging in equal measure and they fit my requirements perfectly. He is a really great person and is very patience and encouraging. I would definitely recommend him as PT to anyone who is looking.

Negative experience: Cancellation is a nightmare. I requested to end the contract, there is a 30 day notice period, which is OK. My issue comes from jd emailing me to notify me that I may not be able to access the gym from today. But I've paid for the rest of this month. To be fair you have stole my money. I say this as no one answers the phone when you click option 3 or 4. So I have no way of discussing with jd, and I can't wait on hold any longer. Bit of a joke really. Goodbye JD Gym

Fantastic experience: Love this gym, best gym out of all the big ones in Leeds. Been to all of them and this is the best vibe. Everyone’s serious doing their own thing. Lighting is dim and perfect. Shame about no monkey bars but a good callisthenics area nevertheless.

Negative experience: No wash facility after midnight or toilet. The stair master machine been skipping (jumping) for last few weeks when using it doesn't feel safe two of them. No air conditioning or wash facility to wipe down equipment.

Negative experience: Can someone please explain why, in a heatwave you have removed the cleaning stations? For a company that seems to pride itself on its cleanliness, I find it difficult to believe your commitment to keeping your gym that way.

Positive experience: Great gym with lots of options, just wish they had a few more of some of the weights machines. They have saunas in the changing rooms which is nice. If you need a padlock for the locker they sell them in a vending machine. They also sell little towels if you sweat a lot, and you might as it's quite warm in there

Negative experience: Started going here when it originally opened and it’s gone down hill since the start of this year, it’s manic regardless of the time you go, even 9pm on weekends it’s full and having to wait, members are lazy and inconsiderate, don’t re-rack weights/plates, park all over the place and staff are just as bad not tidying up the gym

Negative experience: It is announced everywhere that it works 24/7. But really, the changing rooms with showers are locked at midnight, which is very wrong.

Positive experience: Its ok here. Toilets and changing rooms need more care and attention and they really need to manage the parking situation. People park anywhere they like including the wheelchair accessible bays without displaying a badge. Imagine being so lazy and entitled that you drive to the gym and park in a bay designed for people who are less abled than you because you are too lazy to walk the extra 20 meters to walk to a place you exercise. Blows my mind.

Fantastic experience: So easy to join without the usual induction faff. Classes are great with loads of choice. Gym has loads of modern kit. Only gym I’ve been to where your not hanging around for a spare bench. They have loads! Pretty sure JD will take over the gym world.

Negative experience: Freezing COLD SHOWERS !!! JD Gyms Leeds South seems that can't afford to provide warm water... Sauna smells very bad !!! Worst JD Gyms ever I've been.

Negative experience: Been a member since it opened was a decent gym.. but for the past year they are not really bothered about machines working or not. I do alot of cardio treadmil and cross trainer. Most of the treadmil show wrong figures of how many calories u have burned etc. 5mins on treadmil shows I've burned 300 calories maybe more sometimes and done like 6miles and that's with most of the tredmils.. i think they need servicing or something' same with the cross trainers. U could be onit for 10mins and while still using it. It turns off and that's with most of them again. In summer no ac was on was boiling in the gym. And winter gyms very cold. The music either always to loud or to low with stupid songs playing like rock music. Music should he decent at the gym to keep u going but not at this gym.
