Negative experience: Unfortunately since around 2019 the quality of this place has dropped and dropped. Equipment is not well maintained especially machines are not oiled well so an incredible amount of friction. Broken equipment too that they don’t seem to bother fixing. With their half price student deals the place is absolutely rammed all day and late into the night. No serious lifters left it’s just full of uni students having chit chats in groups of 4 plus or people sitting on their phones for ages stoping others using equipment. The gym at stack retail park is now far far superior. It’s a shame cause 2017-19 wasn’t a bad gym at all.
Hi Duncan, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. Fantastic experience: I have been a member of this gym on and off over the past 6 years but now I've actively incorporated workouts into my life. This puregym in Dundee holds two floors with a grand variety of gym equipment, friendly staff who hold to themselves a plethora of knowledge on how to use the equipment and nutritional information to help you reach your goal.

Negative experience: Decent equipment but the average punter here is incredibly rude (they will literally take weights off the bar you are using between your sets without asking) staff should do more to manage polite gym etiquette

Fantastic experience: Lots of equipment, very friendly staff (manager always says hello with a smile!) and at a price that's a fraction of what I used to pay at a similar gym. The downsides are the parking and the showers can occasionally be a little dirty, though its a 24 hour gym so tricky to always be spotless. Would have no hesitation in recommending the place.

Positive experience: Tried Free pass for 2 days. This gym has good equipment. Washrooms were very untidy on 26th, 27th December 2023. There is no free parking either.

Negative experience: The showers are terrible and are not cleaned often. I reported mould and 2 weeks later still showing. Staff are really nice cannot make excuses for showers. Update: received message advising they are AWARE of issue and discussing with contractors. Which basically means you pay full price for a service you can’t use! Unreal response

Fantastic experience: Possibly one of the best pure gyms in the UK. Has massage chairs which I haven’t seen in any other pure gym.

Negative experience: Plenty of equipment not the best variety, have a corporate membership via work and asked a personal trainer a question regarding accessing the corporate WiFi, as opposed to the guest - which is shocking. Still don't know how to access it after being referred to the manager. Cancelling membership as soon as the year membership runs out.

Fantastic experience: Lots of high quality machines for every possible sort of strength exercise. Classes are regular and of a high standard. Free weights zones superb. Very equal gender balance of patrons.

Positive experience: It’s a good gym, I recently moved up from glasgow so it’s a lot smaller than the one I used to go to, but it still has loads of variety! There’s loads of classes available and it’s never really that busy which is a bonus. The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is I’ve had so many strange experiences in the changing rooms with people. There’s been several occasions where I’ve seen people on laptops which a bit weird when people are showering and changing. As well as people staying in the changing room the whole time I’m working out and are still there when I come back but don’t leave nor change. It makes me uncomfortable, so I don’t use the changing rooms anymore.

Fantastic experience: I loved everything about the gym. It has every machine I can use and I love it. Only one thing I don't like is that people on there phone often and not using the machine which I find annoy at times. Overall I enjoyed going at night time.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, personally prefer this to TheGym due to the friendliness of staff, more equipment which staff tidy regularly, more space and plenty cleaning being done. Only downside is the parking however it's not difficult to either attend pre 8am in which case you have until 845am to move your car from the spaces out back or park within a 5/10 minute walk for as long as you like.. call it your warm up. I've been to Puregym for 6 months then TheGym for 6 months and now back to Puregym, much better all round.

Positive experience: Very decent gym…. Think the only thing putting me off is the parking. Feel a gym of this size should have a car park for its members. The 45 minutes on the street is ok but restricts your time in the gym & paying for pay & display every time you visit the gym can prove costly. Unless I’m missing something & there’s a car park everyone uses?

Negative experience: Equipment all over the place. You have to go downstairs and upstairs to complete you workout. Machines in odd places like corridors, yet they have like 20 treadmills all lined up perfectly. Makes me think they only care about cardiobunnys. Also, no parking and don't even think about going there during the day, very busy.

Positive experience: I've enjoyed this gym. The layout is good with freeweights cardio and machines all in their own areas. Spin studio upstairs and I've already tried the classes. Both instructors were very good and kept me motivated. The gym is well set for covid with cleaning stations allover the gym. Staff are very helpful and pleasant.

Positive experience: Place is well organized and has some day light, good cellular coverage compared to others. Has all machines you need Downsides, the great number of levels, rooms and metalic stairs makes you feel like in a spaceship, and no free car parking for members wich is a deal breaker for me

Unfortunately due to the situation of our gyms this isn't possible, however if you're coming by car, pop DD1 1NJ into your SatNav and park in one of the nearby pay and display car parks or you can get 45 minutes free parking on the road at the back of the gym. Negative experience: Weights are always all over the place and the staff are too busy eating rice cakes to care.
Hi John, It is in the Gym Rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times or outside of staffed hours especially it can be hard to police this. Staff on site do everything they can whilst we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights area and are always looking for new ways to combat this. Thanks, PureGym

Positive experience: Massive gym with a good assortment of equipment. Busy at peak hours but you can check how busy the gym is before going by using the app, helping you to avoid the busiest times. Only downside is the lack of parking so if that's a major consideration for you then another gym could be worth thinking about. Wouldn't park in the attached car park as you will be ticketed.

Fantastic experience: Good price for good classes. Had a good experience with James at spin. I felt a click/pop in my knee during class and spoke with him after. Turns out my bike wasn’t at the correct height for my size. James positioned the bike to all the correct measurements for me.

Positive experience: It was great but the lockers on the main floor don't work anymore. It's quite annoying if you're working out after midnight.
