Ward Road Gym

Welcome to Ward Road Gym, a vibrant community sports hub located in the heart of Dundee. Contrary to its name, this is not a traditional commercial gym with weight machines; rather, it is a premier sports hall dedicated to facilitating access to physical activity and sport for everyone, regardless of age or ability. Operated by a passionate team of volunteer directors as a registered Scottish charity, Ward Road Gym is committed to providing a high-quality, accessible venue at affordable rates, ensuring that sport remains within reach for the whole community.

The facility features a spacious main sports hall with marked courts suitable for badminton and netball, as well as ample space for up to eight table tennis practice tables. The venue has been significantly upgraded with modern, energy-efficient LED lighting, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere for all activities. For participants’ comfort, the hall is equipped with separate male and female changing rooms, complete with shower cubicles and toilets, as well as an accessible toilet and lift access to all levels. A cozy cafe area on the viewing gallery offers a spot to relax and socialize after exercise.

Ward Road Gym is the home base for several active local groups, including the historic Nomads Badminton Club and the Dundee and District Table Tennis Association (DDTTA). Whether you are a competitive athlete participating in league fixtures or a beginner looking for social 'Active & Healthy' sessions, there is a place for you here. The hall is also available for hire by community groups and individuals for a variety of sporting and social events, operated flexibly to meet user requirements through volunteer management.
