Fantastic experience: Great facilities and wide range of equipments, and friendly staff.

Positive experience: Only been a member here for a month or so but already suitably impressed. The gym has a great range of equipment that is well-maintained and clean. There are plenty of free weights and benches; there are more than enough cardio machines to go around too. The changing rooms are largely clean and there are always plenty of parking spaces - even at peak times. The location is ideal by car, or tram - there is a stop across the road. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a budget gym with plenty of value.

Fantastic experience: Best place to be

Negative experience: Theft occurred in the gym and the manger has don’t nothing about this incident not even help check the camera located outside the changing rooms. Another rant is the place is always messy with equipment being placed everywhere, which is a trip hazard

Positive experience: It is a well laid out, large and useful gym. Overall not busy unless at peak times and broken equipment gets rapidly fixed. My one criticism is that there isnt a separate area for punching bags, its just thrown out onto the floor and the 3 bags dont fit in with the rest of the gym nicely.

Negative experience: The initial experience was positive, however, the quality has significantly declined. Several machines are out of order, and the mats are torn. The most concerning issue was the state of the showers. One shower was blocked, causing dirty water to overflow into the adjacent shower unit. This unsanitary condition persisted for several days, which is unacceptable, especially for individuals who use the gym to prepare for work. But yet prices have gone up also electric vehicle charger never turned on anymore

Fantastic experience: I use this gym on a daily basis and has everything I could ask for including a sauna.

Fantastic experience: Best Gym in Manny Friendly Staff Loads of Machines/Equipment (Some you won't find in the other chains) Good Vibe and It's a Huuuge Gym Definitely would recommend joining!

Negative experience: Amazing gym unless you are disabled. The members just use the disabled bays whenever they feel like it and management after repeated complaints choose to do nothing about it.

Positive experience: The gym itself is good, but the toilet can be messy and no soap to wash hand in, there isn't any a/c when in treadmill,

Negative experience: I want my money back from Personal Trainer Mark!! Absolute filthy scammer!

Negative experience: Got scammed by a personal trainer MARK. Asked for a personal trainer at the desk and offered and said he can be one. We contacted via phone, and I paid 10 sessions with him in one payment. Afterwards I tried contacting him many times and he kept stating he is busy. Took a long time to manage to book one session with him, but then he didn’t show up and messaged me last minute stating he had to leave due to personal reason, which is understandable. Then after two weeks we’ve only done one session with him. After that session, I tried to book another via message, but he wouldn’t reply. And he would also ignore me at the gym. I messaged him many times but I would not get any reply. After a few months he finally messaged me stating my sessions has expired and I’ll have to payment extra 100 quid or so for 10 sessions. Despite many contacts and no reply I have not manage to complete my session and been robbed. So please be careful with the personal trainers there

Fantastic experience: Take disabled client a couple of times a week he gets a good upper body work out wants to sleep afterwards!

Positive experience: A good and well equipped gym with a solid range of equipment and weights. The staff are helpful and the facilities are useful. Main issue is the people - too busy for my liking, and most lack gym etiquette. Also the staff occasionally puts on terrible music quite loud. Overall solid gym that serves its purpose.

Negative experience: Pleeeease clean up the car park, it cannot stay like this!! Terrible influence on all the kids training here.

Negative experience: pathetic gym , dont join they will mug u up,with hidden terms and conditions they did not bother to refund my money after i cancelled it rather charged me extra for one month extra making stupid excuses! dont let your hard earned money get ripped off when you ask them to cancel your membership!!!

Negative experience: "Although the staff is nice and the gym itself is great, I've been disappointed by the lack of hygiene at this gym. Despite multiple attempts to address it, the car park is always littered, taps have been broken in the men's room for months, hand soap is often empty, and the toilets are consistently out of paper and dirty. Management needs to improve these basic facilities for a better experience."

Negative experience: A great selection of equipment, and facilities however they are now somewhat lacking in quality. Most of the equipment is either damaged or missing parts, the sauna is hardly ever turned on and the changing areas are not cleaned throughout the day. It’s not uncommon to stand on a random screw near the cable machines, it’s also not uncommon to scratch yourself on the ripped floor mats, if a machine or rack has some form of plastic on it, it’s probably broken. The changing rooms are “checked” throughout the day, they are not cleaned. Too often I see Burn classes that are being ran by other members of the gym because a PT hasn’t bothered to turn up, and good luck finding a spin bike that is in full working order. I have been a member of this gym since day 1, and other than some new equipment here and there, the maintenance has been absolutely shocking, the place just feels dirty and scruffy, the cobwebs and dust is near that of a haunted house. You need to hire more cleaners, you need to maintain your equipment better and you need get some bloody extensions poles to clean up high. If it feels scruffy and dirty, people won’t respect it, I know it’s a budget friendly gym, but budget doesn’t mean dirty. You need to do better

Positive experience: Myself and partner use the 24hour service and are disappointed that there are no toilets available this has now happened 2 days in a row (disabled toilets locked), on one of the days there wasn’t even any water as we brought our own bottles and couldn’t even fill them up so ended up spending money on a small bottle of water which isn’t what I came to the gym for. Other than that equipment is good and is fairly clean would just wish people put things back where they got it from as a bit of respect to others in the gym.

Positive experience: ❗4 WEEK UPDATE: Unfortunately, still no progress has been made on hand soaps running out for days at a time. So you still have men walking around the gym after using the facilities touching all of the equipment. This serious lack of hygiene needs to be addressed as it's risking the health of Members. If you are having issues with a soap supplier please just pop to Tesco for the time being! Pics attached to highlight the issue.❗ I've been a regular at this gym for a number of years now. There's lots going for it - Membership is relatively inexpensive for what you get ✅ A good selection of equipment for cardio, spinning or weights. Lots of benches and free weights available in addition to various machines. ✅ Car park is massive, although can get busy at peak times, as can the gym itself. ✅ A handy app with a QR code for easy entry ✅ The temperature of the gym is not too cold in the winter, and air con in the summer helps to deal with the worst of the heat ✅ If you do want to hire a PT, there are plenty available and most really know their stuff ✅ However, in the last year or so some areas have really gone downhill, namely hygiene: Both hot water taps regularly break in the men's toilets, and BOTH soap dispensers regularly run out for days at a time. (How hard is it to pre-order a number of soaps when you know the rate at which they're used??) So you effectively have men walking around the gym with unwashed hands touching all the equipment. ❌ There used to be blue roll and anti-bacterial spray located throughout the gym to clean your equipment or wipe someone else's sweat off - this has also been removed in what I can only imagine is a cost saving exercise ❌ Both issues I've raised multiple times with staff - always met with a distinctly unbothered response. ❌ Which brings me on to my next point - the gym used to be full of friendly staff available to help, even with a posted policy on the staff door outlining a "out of the office and on the gym floor between certain times" policy. This has been massively cut back since Mark, the previous competent manager, left, and therefore as other reviewers have alluded to, it's sometimes impossible to find anyone. ❌ And finally - the time to fix broken equipment has greatly increased. This used to get sorted quickly, sometimes it's up to two weeks now for some of the best kit to get fixed! ❌ Overall a large gym with plenty to offer and friendly PT's, let down by a lack of management , hygiene, and diligence. If these areas are improved I would be happy to upgrade my review.

Negative experience: Could be nice but managament of this gym leaves a lot to be desired, toilet paper and soap are constantly out, sinks broken, locker hinges broken, dirt on the floors, gigantic spider webs on the windows, the car park is full of pot holes and there is litter everywhere, the bike parking has years old abandoned locks lying everywhere. They don't even bother to reply to email complaints. Please do something!! The equipment and classes are good.

Positive experience: Great gym, but sometimes people sit on the equipment using their phones so preventing others to use the equipment. Also last week, my keys fell out of my pocket and I was unable to enter back as the QR code didn't work. I was ringing the bell and calling the office and waited 20 mins until a personal trainer let me in. They mentioned none of the staff turned up which is a health and safety concern.

Negative experience: Disgusting changing rooms and toilets. No soap or toilet paper. Floor doesnt seem to be mopped for weeks.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I’ve been to. There’s usually a lot of people in there but there is enough equipment to make it feel like it isn’t.

Negative experience: Solid gym with great staff but c'mon, the locker rooms being closed at 8 o'clock at the weekend and 10pm weekdays is a joke. Been in several other JD's and never had that kind of an issue.

Negative experience: It has taken a lot for me to come out of my comfort zone and start my fitness journey at this gym. It’s a lovely environment for the most part but I am so disappointed by the way I was treated by a member of the gym staff today. I plucked up the courage to ask a male member of staff (who seemed to be the most available at the time) for help with adjusting the safety on the squat rack. He took one look at me up and down, and clearly I didn’t fit his criteria of the type of person he would wanna help. He turned around to his colleague and went ‘er.. she’ll help you.” and walked off. I feel very humiliated by the way I was spoken to and will be looking for alternative gyms.

Fantastic experience: Literally just deleted my previous review to update it to 5 stars. Very happy with opening times at the gym and that we managed to get it going 24/7. Very very friendly and helpful staff. Some funny characters around the gym that will put a smile on your face, but overall very good atmosphere. I don’t want to give 5 stars place will get overcrowded, but yeh it’s a very well maintained gym.

Positive experience: Great facilities with plenty of cardio machines and a large weights section. However it's not the cleanest gym I've been to. Could do with being hoovered and I couldn't find any tissue or sanitiser spray to wipe down my equipment after I finished.

Negative experience: Buyer beware. Had to amend my rating despite being advertised as 24 hours the gym wil not allow you to access normal sized lockers, showers or sauna on the weekends (between 0600-0700) despite EVERY OTHER JD GYM being fully open at these times. When raised I was told this was due to cctv restrictions. I would hope there aren’t any cctv stations in the changing rooms anyway. No clear reason why wythenshaw members have it worse than everyone else, there is no clear signage or information anywhere or on the site despite Gyms+ being pushed at every opportunity. Either we can’t be trusted, no one knows or the managers of this gym don’t know what they’re doings that may also account for why the changing rooms continuously smell of excrement regardless of what time you go. For a bare bones gym experience on the weekends there are better, cheaper and closer gyms available.

Positive experience: Been coming to this gym since it opened. It is a top gym, but the cleaning has really gone down hill. The place is filthy. So much dust and dirt all over the floor around the free weight and squat rack section.

Fantastic experience: Good gym, clean, good enviroment, nice staff, good range of machines and classes; a bit busy a peak times but it to be expected. I definetly enjoy my gym sessions there.

Negative experience: Hii. Ive written a review for this gym a month ago and i am happy with what i said however, over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed that whenever i go to the shower at around 7-8 pm. There is a foul smell. I thought this was just for a day and let it past me but everyday i would still come and it was still there. Ive had friends tell me that they were noticing it. And i would say i am very disappointed because it really ruins your relaxing experience in the gym showers. I believe this is either due to the pipes and/or the drains so please can you sort this out. I have never experienced this before until last week. Thank u!!

Negative experience: I joined JD Gyms awythenshaw last 4 months ago and my stuff is being taken by one of members of staff they broken my locker and the toke everything’s I had left in there without my permission also I went to the reception day after ask for my bag and stuff they show me something which is not mine, so I will recommend JD gyms is not safe and cancelled my membership never came back , my friends left also after me

Positive experience: I dont have any problems with the equipment and some of the staff members but i have lots of work to do so I genuinely try to find time to go to gym. I just hoped that this gym would be open 24/7. Please do something about the timings JD GYM Also, ive been going to those cycling classes and there is a teacher, (dont know her name) i think shes a bit ginger butt I absolutely love her. I think she covers for her colleagues. She puts a smile on my face and i leave the classes feeling proud. Her communication skills and her understanding is so impeccable. Shes my motivation ❤️❤️☺️

Negative experience: My mother had the worst experience at Wythenshawe JD she is a vulnerable lady who does not speak English but she can fully understand. staff treat out really disgusting and very disrespectful she’s an elderly person she didn’t need to be speak to the way they did treat her that disrespectful manner. I have never experienced this type of behaviour from a big company like this All she did was walk around the aisle I’m looking for some items to buy and she sneezed and this was not during Covid time so I did not understand a human being cannot sneeze so they escorted her from the whole shop and screamed kicked her out for no reason she was confused vulnerable asking people why why and when she asked why the lady disrespecte she said you are disgusting Screaming at at her like she was stealing-have been living in Wythenshawe for five years My mother is 62 years old how can you be profiling people like that I don’t understand

Negative experience: The staff treat you like you are a joke! The worst place I've ever been!

Negative experience: I went to the gym with the intention of improving my mental health. I paid for 10 lessons with a PT (Mark). He is an irresponsible professional who always canceled classes at the last minute and on top of that we only did 8 classes with me and refused to refund my money or finish the classes! It took me 3 months to do these 8 classes. In conclusion, I had a horrible experience and I will never go back to this gym and I recommend you guys look for another one! I was practically robbed...

Negative experience: the gym is ok, but I don't recommend taking classes with a personal trainer (mark). because I paid for 10 classes and besides him always canceling classes at the last minute, he refused to give me the last two classes that were missing and he didn't want to return my money. Fantastic experience: Well organized GYM with lots of equipment and facilities.

Positive experience: It's ok, well equipped and new equipment but it's busy and can be difficult to get on the machines or weights. It would be a good idea for them to expand the gym with a second floor and move cc equipment upstairs and double up on all equipment. Also they need to recruit PT's that actually know what they are doing and not just been on a PT training course, everyone is different and things need to be adjusted, plus I ha e seen customer failing to engage their glutes etc and the PT's don't raise it or guid them to do so meaning they aren't getting the best out of their exercise. You can't fault it for being a good starting point but they didn't think about expansion if/when it became busier, also make a decision on the windows and stick to it.

Fantastic experience: Busy at times, but friendly environment with great equipment.

Positive experience: Just started here so can't put in a lot of detail but I would like to see longer opening hours for people like me with school runs and working hours that are awkward.

Positive experience: Good gym but needs a better vetting process when taking on members under 18. A lot of the "16 year olds" were obviously younger. Very crowded way to many members for that premise had to carry on waiting to use equipment.

Negative experience: Im a regular at this gym, has never been as bad as it has recently. Very understaffed and very rude especially the cleaning staff. Not a friendly gym environment at all. Closed showers alot earlier than usual, leaving people frustrated and annoyed and when asked why cleaning staff argued in a rude manner that it was protocol? When they have always been open all the other times I’ve used them during this time frame. Recently foul odours in the showers for the past few weeks (egg, vomits??!!) everyone complaining about this a lot! (men&womens). Cleaning staff swearing out loudly at how he hates his job and was being rude to us and turned off the water mid showers ! Never really complain but this was truly the worst gym experience I’ve ever had.

Positive experience: Great gym for the price! The equipment, design and layout are brilliant. Needs to open earlier at the weekend though - 8am too late which let's it down

Positive experience: The gym overall is good, great price, car park, and lots of cardio equipment - however I get anxiety when I have to go there because I mainly do strength exercises, and 50% of the time at least i have to queue to access the leg machines. Switching to 24 hours or extending the opening times would be great to curb that issue, as there would not be enough space to add more machines I guess. Certainly 5 stars for cardio lovers and class goers!

Negative experience: One star is lucky, the management in this gym is beyond ridiculous. Unprofessional, stand around all day starting at those on the treadmill and encouraging a toxic culture. It’s actually embarrassing that I have to write this.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff, very clean and tidy & good music when you forget your headphones I’ve been a member since 2018 but always been a yo-yo member due to not knowing much about exercise and being too shy to ask questions! I started to attend spin frequently and met Jon who answered all my questions since having Jon as my personal trainer, not only has he helped me smash my Weightloss & started me on my fitness journey properly, He has helped me to not only love being in the gym but to love myself and find my confidence. His pt sessions aren’t easy! But so they shouldn’t be , they are so enjoyable due to his personality and jokes. Even when I want to give up he pushes me and. my body to our capabilities and makes me believe in myself and with that I’ve learnt to trust him and to keep myself out of that comfort zone.. I cannot thank him enough :) even with my daft questions or goals he remains professional and helps me with his answers. I cannot wait to see what I can achieve alongside him & I will recommend him to everyone. Thankyou Jon

Fantastic experience: I cannot fault it. The place and equipment is well maintained. There is good space. The staff is knowledgeable. I get the sauna I have been longing for and even classes I can join. The only thing I am missing is hot yoga, but that would be the absolute cherry on top. Happy I tried it!

Positive experience: Great gym! Highlight of my day when I go here. The female changing rooms are very clean with a more than suitable amount of lockers. There are spray bottles of antibacterial situated around the gym so you can clean equipment/machines before and after use. A good selection of machines and equipment that the JD team are more than happy to show you how to use. The only downside being that it can get super busy given its location and it being a commercial gym. If you time it right though you can get in a really good workout.

Positive experience: A great gym with loads of cardio machines available separate biking and fitness area availble. The only draw back is body building areas lacks some equipments and space is an issue it's cramped. Overcrowded at peak times.

Positive experience: This gym is well equipped and even on peak times there is enough equipment for everyone. The cost is an absolute bargain and customer service is excellent. The criticism I have is the lack of cleaning sprays dotted around. We need 2 on the back wall at least near the treadmills. I do bring my own wipes/towel as a norm but it would be good to have access to more, I don't want to be using equipment after someone has sweated all over it. Also the treadmills need that little more space in between again even if it means relocating 2 to achieve this, they are just that little too close for comfort. Minor tweaks that can be achieved easily. Apart from my points I'm really happy to be a member.

Fantastic experience: A better gym than 99%

Positive experience: One of the better commercial gyms around but still definitely just a commercial gym. No proper bench press stations, not allowed chalk (can use liquid chalk though), no bags on the gym floor, standard stuff. Staff very welcoming and friendly and for 95% of people will be absolutely perfect. For any serious strength or powerlifting training not really suitable but for 95% of people it would be great. For the amount of money put into the gym it’s just a bit disappointing there isn’t a proper bench press combo rack or something!!

Positive experience: Unfortunately I have to change my review of this gym. I have been going here for years and is slowly getting worse. Gym itself is stell great with wide range of equipment and friendly staff but the men's showers are often disgusting with grime and used razors all over the place. Also the sauna is a mess a lot of the time. Often not turned on and always has empty bottles and even old fruit in it. It is obviously the customers leaving this mess but there needs to be staff always cleaning too. There is one great cleaner, when he is on the place is spotless, if he isn't the place is pretty grim.
