Fantastic experience: I've been getting a massage from Vivien every month for a while now, and I can honestly say she is amazing! She knows exactly how to work out tension and always tailors each session to what my body needs. Her technique is both therapeutic and relaxing, leaving me feeling completely refreshed every time. Vivien is professional, attentive, and truly skilled at what she does. I always look forward to my appointments with her—highly recommend!

Negative experience: Very bad experience. The one in Milton Keynes is very dirty. I made a subscription but the first time I went the water is very cold and dirty. The staff is rude and unfriendly. They force you on a 12 month agreement even though I no longer want to go. Disgusting! It's not worth the money!

Good Afternoon Ionut, thank you for your feedback, I have looked at your membership and can see that you joined online away from the club on a 12 month contract. Our Swimming pool is kept within temperature parameters and I can see that on this day the pool was within the correct temperature parameters. To cancel within your initial term if you can cancel on grounds of medical/relocation or financial but you would need to provide evidence. To discuss this further please contact [email protected]

Fantastic experience: I was scrolling through these reviews and came across a review I don't recognise in mk. In my experience all the gym team are super friendly and helpful and professional. I have been having regular p/t sessions with scott for a long time. When it comes to phone usage all my workouts and results are on my p/ts phone so yes they do use phones for legitimate reasons. Always happy coming over to mk.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of Bannatynes for years and regularly have PT sessions with Scott. I have always received excellent service. The personal and friendly approach from all the staff is part of the reason I continue my membership. I have read the previous reviews about the ‘unprofessional behaviour’ of the PT staff and, in my experience, this is not true. The relationship I have with my PT means we can joke and keep the sessions fun! Keep doing what you’re doing, thank you!

Bannatyne Health Club & Spa
Bannatyne Health Club & Spa

It’s fantastic that you’ve had such a positive experience at Bannatyne for so long! Your loyalty to the gym and to Scott as your PT really speaks to the quality of the service and the professional yet friendly atmosphere there. It’s also great that you can enjoy your sessions while still making progress – having a good balance between fun and hard work is essential in keeping up motivation. It’s disappointing when reviews don’t reflect your experience, especially when it comes to something as important as professional relationships and effective training. It’s clear that for you, the personal touch from the staff and the rapport you’ve built with Scott has made a big difference, and it’s nice to see you acknowledge that. Hopefully, your positive feedback can help provide some balance for others who might be reading those reviews. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Fantastic experience: I’ve never had an issue with the MK Bannatyne! The staff are all lovely and friendly! They take time and always hard working! The head PT is amazing and puts in the work and you see results and at the same time have a laugh so you feel like you’re working out but also enjoying the work out. I seen a review in regards to PT and I think people who work out while PT’s are happening need to mind their business! In a PT session the sets are timed and are explained to us when we join for private PT so you will see them on their phones because they are doing their jobs and as for yawning it’s a natural body thing doesn’t take away from the hard work both myself and the PT put to get to where I want to be so please mind your business and if you’re not sure ask instead of leaving a crappy review when you don’t know the truth! I don’t have a bad word to say about the level of care! Not everything is perfect but they do their best and that’s all we can ever ask for!

Bannatyne Health Club & Spa

It sounds like you’re really happy with the service at MK Bannatyne and appreciate the dedication of the staff, especially your PT. Your perspective is a reminder that constructive feedback is always better than jumping to conclusions without knowing the full story. Sounds like the staff truly do care about their clients' progress, which is so important in a fitness setting! It’s nice to see you standing up for the gym, and it’s clear you’ve had a great experience. We look forward to seeing you soon, and we hope you continue enjoying your sessions

Negative experience: At the moment I’m not happy paying a premium fee for this gym. There’s a massive safety issue where the chest press machine is situated. It’s a trip hazard as the floor has bubbled. I’ve raised this issue twice and just been ignored. Secondly the staff are unprofessional, as in the personal trainers. Shouting across the gym at each other and gobbing off among themselves. It’s pathetic. Also it’s been noted that when they are with clients, they ignore their clients and piss about on their phones and I saw one yawning and shaking his head….as in mocking the person their supposed to be training!!! Disgusting behaviour. I’ll post a pic next time to show how idiotic these guys are

Positive experience: Got a full body Swedish body massage. Massage was good but was not full body - it felt like a third of my body was not massaged. Below, I will list the muscle groups/body parts that were and were not massaged. Were massaged: Traps (upper back) Rhomboids (mid back) Lower back Rear delts (back of shoulders) Medial delts (sides of shoulders) Triceps (back of upper arm) Forearms (lower arm) Hands Quadriceps (front of upper leg) Hamstrings (back of upper leg) Calves (back of lower leg) Were not massaged: Head Face Neck Chest Abs Obliques (sides of torso) Front delts (front of shoulders) Adductors (inner thigh) Abductors (outer thigh) Hips/waist Feet Again, the massage was very good but for your money it might be worth just getting a package deal of arms, back and legs rather than a full body massage.

Fantastic experience: I came here today with my other half for a couples spa day. We had a fantastic time ❤️ When we arrived we was greated by a friendly member of staff who showed us around. Me and my partner both had treatments in the spa (mini back massage, head massage and food massage) absolutely amazing and felt so relaxed. After our treatments we used the pool facilities. There were 2 Saunas, 1 Steam room, jacuzzi and a pool. It was a little busy today and due to this the jacuzzi was very full all the time. As soon as one person was out then next was in. Definitely would be better to have a other one. There was lots of sun loungers around the pool and seating areas. The changing room facilities were outstanding! Extremely clean and spacious. The showers were warm, they also had shower gel available. Lots of lockers, hairdryers and even a huge vanity area. There are two privacy changing rooms if you didn't feel comfortable undressing infront of people too. Overall we were extremely happy with our visit and will be recommending this for family and friends ❤️

Negative experience: Very disappointing day... we booked for a half hour massage. In fact the massage only lasted 15 minutes. I was already in my underwear with a dressing gown . The masseur showed me to room, told me to derobe and lie on bed. She took so long to come back into the room, I was about to get up and see where she was... the actual massage was poor .. definitely, would not recommend Bannatyne spa...

Negative experience: Went for a spa day as a birthday gift. Firstly rang up as we couldn’t find a car park and was outside, told to just park outside and pay on machine- £16 for the capstone. Not a great start . No towels provided, no complimentary drink. Not spa day vibes at all. Overall a very old run down vibe. Went for lunch ran out of jacket potatoes when we went to order. The massage therapists were rubbing ten minutes late and our treatment was meant to be 25 minutes. They put us in a room with my mum who I was on spa day with , so we were both next to eachother and could hear eachother talk about pressure. The massages were the worst we’ve had and cut short. Was f even offered a water after our massage. Such a rush . Avoid.

Negative experience: DO NOT BOOK AT BANNATYNE MILTON KEYNES - booked a gift treatment for a family member. We were randomly assigned a time, which was not convenient, and were then completely unable to reschedule despite both myself (payee) and my mother (recipient) contacting them repeatedly over email and telephone. When she did rearrange her plans and go to the very early appointment they had assigned her, she was literally turned away and told they were 'fully booked'. The treatment had been booked for two months at this point. Staff are unbelievably unhelpful and endlessly difficult. Wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Afternoon Molly The voucher you purchased was with a 3rd party supplier, they then have booked in your day for you, unfortunately to re arrange or reschedule this has to go through the 3rd party supplier. Whilst I understand the frustration you may of received due to it being purchased through another supplier, as it was not directly through us we have to follow the terms from that supplier We did accommodate the treatments on the day as we received a cancellation on the day and offered for the treatment to be done and this was fulfilled Kind Regards Bannatyne Team

Jay 8 months ago

Negative experience: I booked this place as we were given a voucher for three treatments and lunch for two. Thank God we didn’t purchase the voucher ourselves, as I would have been fuming. I genuinely feel sorry for the people who have memberships here and most likely pay a high premium for what can only be described as “prison” conditions. Where do I start? The Lobby and Reception: After finding out you have to pay for parking (£2 per hour), we thought at least it could only get better from here… We should have known from the “lunch” menu that the day would be a disaster. What we thought would be a proper lunch turned out to be a choice of soup, a jacket potato, or avocado on toast. The drink options included tea, cappuccino, espresso, and a few other hot drinks—there were no cold drink options. We ended up buying more food due to the poor portion sizes and lack of quality. I’ve attached a photo of the “avocado and toast” we ordered, which is made by the same receptionist who books you in, touching the phone and keyboard in between. The tiny kitchen is just behind the front desk where you can see your food being reheated. The chairs and sofas in the lobby are in appalling condition, with furniture I wouldn’t even let my dog sit on. Everything is worn down. The biggest surprise, however, was having to pay £3.50 each for a towel, which is non-refundable. You also have the option of a “spa bag,” which costs an extra £20 for a robe, towel, and disposable slippers—£10 of which is refundable. Lockers cost an extra £2 for a wristband, which, luckily, is refundable. So far, from what was supposed to be a gift, we had already paid: • £10 for parking (5 hours) • £4 for wristbands • £7 for towels The Gym & Locker Rooms The gym itself is spacious with plenty of cardio machines, which was great. However, the majority of the weights need replacing, and cleaning should be maintained more regularly. The locker rooms are spacious with plenty of locker options, but both the shower and toilet areas were grim. There were bits of hair and skin flakes on the floor. The showers are tiny, with hardly enough space to turn around, let alone avoid the bits of hair stuck on the walls. The men’s locker room had beard hair left around the hair dryers, and I won’t even go into detail about the state of the men’s toilets. The Swimming Pool and Facilities The pool area was probably the worst part of the entire experience. The grime and dirt built up around the pool were appalling. There was rust on the doors, and the paint was chipped everywhere. The sun loungers were filthy, and one of the saunas was broken. The sauna that was available was only “warm,” not hot, and the steam room seats felt slippery with oils and body sweat. The Jacuzzi was tiny, with chipped tiles, and the pool water looked dirty. I’m baffled how people can sit around and “relax” in a dirty place Treatments and Spa The treatment choices were decent. The facial was good, and the use of Elemis products was a nice touch. However, the massage was dreadful, with poor pressure. Overall Experience I would avoid this Bannatyne location at all costs. I know I’m just another number in their reviews, but I was truly disappointed with my experience. I would never come back, and this location should be removed from the Red Letter Days experience.

Positive experience: We went for a back neck and shoulder massage and full body scrub, the staff were friendly, although the reception was understaffed for a Saturday. The massage and scrub itself was very relaxing, we would come back. We didn't really use the other facilities apart from the showers (these were fine, however the cubicle I used was out of soap), but the size of the gym was impressive. Really like the outdoor greenery too.

Negative experience: DO NOT BOOK THIS FOR A “SPA DAY EXPERIENCE”. The one star is for the polite staff members. I purchased a voucher through Wowcher for a “premium unlimited spa day with 3 treatments” as a gift for my mums birthday & what we received was one treatment in a health club with a treatment room. Upon arrival we were instantly disappointed because this is very clearly NOT a spa. Walking in from the car park (which you have to pay for) is really grubby and rundown. The health club itself also needs a really good clean up if they’re going to continue advertising it as a spa. The pool area is like any other health club pool with a jacuzzi at the side and sauna to the side and that’s it, unless you want to go into the gym in your robe & slippers which you’ve had to pay £20 upfront for (£10 is refunded upon leaving). Id recommend taking your own flipflops and towel because it’s really not worth the £10! We had planned to be there all day but left after 2 hours, most of which was spent in the changing rooms getting undressed/dressed! The swimsuit dryer was also not working on our visit which they have subsequently denied but take a bag for your cozy just incase! We were only booked in for one of the three treatments we paid for which is an ongoing complaint through Wowcher/Bannatyne group as they are refusing to refund me. DO NOT BE MISLEAD BY THE PICTURES ON WOWCHER & BOOK THIS LOCATION FOR A SPA DAY.

Negative experience: DO NOT BOOK FOR SAFETY REASONS. UPDATE: The therapists here are not fully trained to perform massages and cannot provide professional qualifications. According to the managers, “All the girls that work with us are either VTCT or NVQ Level 2 and 3 beauty qualified.” BEAUTY qualified—this is not sufficient for safely conducting massages. Regarding our eyes: Both my partner and I have been seen by a medical professional, who confirmed that we likely contracted an infection from the towels used during the massage. Additionally, I have trauma to my eye, which would have been from the excessive pressure applied during the treatment I have another eye appointment upcoming to confirm this - it explains the severe headaches that lasted for 7 days. I've attached pictures below this is 7 days after the treatment with redness still not going. - I visited on Monday, 6th January, with my partner, expecting a relaxing massage, but the experience left us both in significant discomfort. The therapist applied excessive pressure to my neck and shoulders, leaving me with severe headaches, nerve pain, and a sore, red eye. My partner has also been left with a swollen, bloodshot eye, which may have been caused either by the towels we were lying on or the pressure applied to the neck area, behind ears which is where the nerves are. It has been over 48 hours, and the discomfort has not subsided for either of us. When I asked to verify the therapist’s qualifications, I was told by VIVIAN the manager that it could not be shared due to GDPR. This response felt dismissive and unacceptable, as GDPR does not prevent the confirmation of professional certifications. This leaves me questioning the standards and training of the staff. This experience has not only been disappointing but has also negatively impacted our health. I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking safe and professional care.

Negative experience: Very Disappointing Service and Appalling Experience. I recently joined Bannatyne Milton Keynes, expecting a professional and supportive environment, but unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. The poor service and lack of attention to detail have made it impossible to enjoy my membership. The so called manager Nicola is hell bent to make money out of sick patients and expects to pay the full month's fee even if I had the sick note from hospital and provided them just after three days the money was taken. Nicola is the most unhelpful and lack empathy. seems uninterested in assisting members. On multiple occasions, my questions were ignored or dismissed. This gym is epitome of poor management: There were unexpected fees added to my membership and the discount was not applied until I complained. Additionally, the management is disorganized and dismissive of complaints. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, professionalism, and basic courtesy makes this gym a poor choice for anyone looking for a quality fitness experience. I strongly recommend exploring other gyms that prioritize member satisfaction and well-being.

Negative experience: It's absolutely shocking. My daughter bought me an experience for a birthday gift. The entrance is poor, and there is no signposting. Checking in takes too long. There are no toilet facilities near the spa. And then the treatment. What treatment? I was booked in for a back massage, a facial, and a foot massage. My therapist and I use this term loosely, was totally hopeless, she didn't speak to me at all before she started the massage, which was more like a rub, I made it clear to her that I would like more pressure, this was not even acknowledged, there was no reaction at all. She sniffed throughout the treatment. Then, the face massage started. Ten minutes in, she left the face to do the foot massage!! The face treatment hadn't been completed. The foot massage involved a rub on the instep only, oh, and a big toe. You couldn't make it up. Then, she went back to finish my face. What should have been a relaxing experience, was the worst experience I have ever had. Please don't waste your money here. We tried to tell them, they wouldn't listen and were very rude. Don't go here, they are not worth it.

Positive experience: Once again, the pool was shut due to staff sickness. Why always keep to a minimal staff level, I understand is cost saving but please have a solid contingency plan for the future when a member of staff is off sick, the solution is not to close the pool every time.

Yumie 10 months ago

Negative experience: Instructors are on a power trip. I got delayed at reception as I waited to buy a bottle of water because there was only one person at the reception desk and she was looking after someone else, which took some long 5 minutes. The result was I got late by 1-2 minutes for my Bodypump class, to which the instructor said in a very rude tone “You can’t just enter at my class 5 minutes late and think it’s fine” (I wasn’t 5 minutes late). I’ve seen people arrive late at Bodypump and other classes before and no one had issues or was refused to join the class. Actually, last week a late comer was very welcome to attend the Bodypump class with the SAME INSTRUCTOR (the late comer last week was 5-10 minutes, not 2 minutes, but well). I felt embarrassed and ashamed because she stopped the whole class just to be arrogant to me, putting me into the spotlight for a negative thing. She told me to speak to reception, and even the receptionist agreed to me that I wasn’t that late to be refused. Anyways, this happened at the 19:15 Bodypump class on 17/12/24. One of the most expensive health centres at the region, and you’re met with this kind of behaviour from the instructors ‍♀️

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs. Terrible location. Terrible inside and terribly cold. First having to pay for parking. Do not be fooled by the "tropical images". It's absolutely freezing inside, dodgy steps nd homeless men sleeping outside the Spa! Booked a "spa" day and was asked to pay additional £20 for all the spa experience which I thought I had done so. Spending this on a robe and slippers is a joke. The images of the pool and spa area are not as they seem it's very small and dirty. It needs a good Chose to NOT take advantage of the gym facilities and it felt super awkward walking around in just swim suit and with it being so cold inside. The food and drink was not great. Very basic and boring. Staff were just standing around and caught swearing. The furniture was also very tired with the tables peeling and sofa smelling of chlorine. When it came time for my treatment the therapist told me she was not well and I put a stop to this session. I shared that while I had filled in the medical form why would I then be happy to have a therapist who is unwell touching me and potentially coughing over me? The manager came and offered another therapist. Treatment was fine however i should have used my voucher for something else. Do not waste time or money.

Negative experience: Real time review! This underground gym that wants to be spa it’s actually very dirty, mouldy with facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, etc) that they are broken all the time! Also with a bad management that they don’t care not even when you flag faults, like flashing bulb ( which they can trigger a crisis for epileptic customers) air-cons that they are not clean with years! I’ve split my foot skin in jacuzzi because of a broken part I flag it to management ( so others don’t get hurt they didn’t even cared about it) I didn’t have not even a call from them to check if I’m ok or to apologise! So think twice before commenting for a subscription or before you bring your little ones Update on 08/01/2025 for owner Trying to get in touch with you (on the email address that you give me) from the point that you left it here and looks like it’s not valid (you can see the last picture that I’ve uploaded) Also nothing changed in the gym, the same mess, same thing faulty, unfortunately google doesn’t let me upload video, so I can show you that you didn’t change not even the faulty flashing bulb! It’s that expensive a bulb? Unbelievable the level of indifference!!!

Negative experience: Receptionist staff were lovely and the main entrance was very pretty. We started our massage and it was not good. Terrible treatments almost comical. Me and my husband could not stop laughing after the treatment as it was so bad with no effort on massage part. There was no pressure applied and she kept hitting my spine. We decided not to use any other facilities and just left. We were there no longer than 45 minutes to do the treatments. The jacuzzi was crowded anyway but the standards were too low for my liking and didn’t feel like a spa but more like a leisure pool. But saying all this the staff really do try and can see their efforts. Tired looking place!

Negative experience: 17.11.2024..Very disappointing tired surroundings...had to pay for robe and towel that were not good quality. Pool and Jacuzzi was busy with children.. Positive experience: We had booked a Virgin spa day. Had email beforehand to say we would need to pay £20 extra each for access to facilities. I challenged this and was told it was a mistake. When we arrived, they again wanted to charge extra. Disappointed, we had our spa treatment and had left in just over an hour! Used the accessibility toilet on way out. The rails were rusty and the room was unkempt. I would not return. I scored 3*, because the girls who did the treatments were lovely.

So apologies if this was miss communicated to you as your day was inclusive of the facility use. I will pass on your feedback to the therapists.

Positive experience: I was given a voucher for a day spa here as a present and was a bit worried having read some poor reviews. Actually, I liked it and had a very good time. I would say that it's really a nice gym/ health club with treatments rather than a luxurious spa but if you understand this, you will be very happy. Positives... 1. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff everywhere ( reception, kitchen, gym classes and treatment area). 2. Nice pool area with a big steam room and two saunas plus a jacuzzi that was warm enough! Plenty of loungers. 3. Attractive area outside the club ( but still indoors) with sunbeds, plants and a fishpond. 4. Good range of reasonable food for lunch and service was quick and friendly. 5. Nice looking treatment area and rooms 6. Wonderful massage! 7. Well equipped and clean gym and good range of classes 8. Changing rooms and lockers good 9. I liked the feel of the place. Negatives... 1. Not the fault of the club but I ended up paying £8 for parking 4 hours! 2. Robes not included. You really need one to make the most of the time here. I think paying extra takes away from the "feel good" experience and it would be better to include the £10 upfront in the purchase price. 3. Not a high end spa experience. This is absolutely fine if you know what you are getting but I think some people have been caught out- particularly if they have been bought the experience as a present and haven't done any research. Overall a very good experience for me and I would go again. Thank you

Negative experience: Absolute crooks. This is one of the worst organisations I've dealt with from an administration perspective. If your personal circumstances and you need to cancel your membership, they make it impossible to do so. You are hassled and threatened by daily automated emails from head office chasing you for missed payments (all from no-reply emails). There is no direct email or contact number for the head office to deal with a human being - computer says no approach They refer you to a 3rd party credit agency for debt collection after 2 months of missed payments. So even if you are unable to use their services and facilities due to a change in circumstance, they will still make you pay for them. I will never use a Bannatyne's again.

Negative experience: Purchased a 60 minute treatment for £72 and received a 40 minute treatment. Only reason why it's not 1 star is due to the fact that the actual massage itself was ok, just work on timing the treatment better but plan to go to my normal massage parlour where the whole experience is worth what you pay for. Before customer service decide to reply, as I received an email saying it was 50 minutes, I took pictures before and after with a timestamp which does not indicate the treatment was 50 minutes.

Positive experience: Bad experience. Booked through virgin experience days and me and my mum had a treatment booked which was then cancelled due to staff sickness. We were able to book the treatments for another time. Massages were good. I would've preferred a refund for the treatments but they couldn't offer that. The other facilities are tiny and not worth paying £78 for the day for 2 people.

Negative experience: Had a visit yesterday, bought back and neck massage. Lady only used oil on my back and kept her hands in my lower back. She did not do a proper massage only passed the oil. Never touched my neck and my upper back even that I mentioned that I needed my upper back and neck. Very disappointing service. I did not pay for passing oil on my back but to have back and neck massage, my children would make me a better massage. Will never come back. Waste of money

Negative experience: Disappointed! Not the spa day we had hoped for - had a reasonably nice time using the spa facilities. Both my partner and I had a 30 min treatment booked in (Swedish massage). We were called through 5 mins later than schedule and the massages finished nearly 10 mins before it should have. This meant we had approx 15 min massage each! Won’t be recommending or returning.

Negative experience: My partner and I had a spa day at Milton Keynes yesterday 9.9.24. Very disappointed with standard. Firstly it says free parking and it isn't, your have to pay via Ringo App. The entrance isn't very well signed. The botanical garden area where there are fish ponds are lovely to sit outside despite the weather with a selection of comfy chairs and tables. Staff are friendly and clearly try their best, However, the facilities are very tired and are in need of a deep clean, although floors are cleaned with machines it doesn't do the corners, they are very grubby, doors again are black with finger marks. Unfortunately even the treatments rooms were dirty! The smell and the treatments were lovely by the staff who try to accommodate as much as possible However, as soon as the door to the treatment room was opened the 'grubby' corners in the room took away from a pleasant experience. I know this isn't the standard of all Bannatyne spa's because Chafford hundred is far far better with much much more to offer, with a relaxation room, outside hot tub, large jacuzzi with TV and free parking...definitely recommend. So MK site is only a 1 star although all issues could easily be sorted. Couldn't add photos as no mobiles were allowed due to health & safety (no glass) respectfully.

Positive experience: If you come just for the treatments its a lovely place, the treatments we received where top class and the people where very kind. The pool was ok a little bit small and the steam room was out of order but the hot tub was always busy.

Hayley Wilkins 1 year ago

Positive experience: First visit. Very strange to be told to walk through the gym to the changing rooms, found this a bit intimidating. Female changing room was not clearly signposted. Very few private changing facilities. Pool had private swimming lessons at the time of our arrival with only a handful of weirdly placed loungers. Massage treatments were outstanding! Would recommend to friends for the massage but not as a day experience.

Jo Howe 1 year ago

Negative experience: Came for a spa day... and wow it's the pits a dirty dirty place. There was mould and green slime built up on tiles on side of the pool. And a sludge build up on the pool water . Nothing was diasbled friendly..the lift was broken outside. Cafe was very expensive 3.quid for a small muffin. Treatment was nice but nowt to right home about would of been nice if the 2 of us could of been at the same time but no so had a hour wait. Reception staff rude and unhelpful..

Katie Chan 1 year ago

Negative experience: This spa is an utter disappointment, and I would go as far as to say it’s worse than a council gym. The facility is very basic, no better than a standard gym with a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and workout area. The jacuzzi is always overcrowded. Don't be fooled by the pictures—the exterior might look decent, but inside, it resembles a YMCA gym filled with screaming kids. The area surrounding the gym is desolate, as other reviews have mentioned. It’s like a deserted Sahara with no one around.

Ricky Sawyer 1 year ago

Negative experience: Monthly price way too high for what it is, changing rooms are disgusting 90% of the time (showers barely work and locks broken on changing cubicles for months), some (not all) personal trainers extremely rude and reserved a whole area of the gym for a 1 person class. Weight area is small so usually struggle to use any equipment. Reception also acts as the cafe so you can be waiting 10 minutes just to ask a simple question. Wouldn’t recommend, been to nicer PureGym’s!

Positive experience: I come here yesterday for 3 treatments and to use the facilities throughout the day! The staff was helpful on arrival with the area being clean and tidy ! The massage was by far the best I’ve ever had! Only thing I’d fault on, is contacting the receptionist, took 4 attempts of getting in hold of them just to ask a question! All in all, I would return to this spa!

Negative experience: I actually thought this was a pank, it was so bad it was hilarious. Reception was terrible either nobody there or totally ignored. Treatment was basic, the tour was so funny I couldn't breath for laughing it was so bad. Ordered a coffee and a chocolate brownie, both coffee the same size but arrived in different sizes, the lid was covered in black dust inside and out. The brownie never arrived.

Negative experience: The person on reception was not engaging and appeared uninterested. The back entrance to bannatyne looks like an abandoned building, seriously in need of a revamp,.not inviting at all and the wellbeing add on only operated from Monday to Friday

Fantastic experience: Bannatyne health club and spa is one of the best places for you and children. You can enjoy everything like gym, swimming. Sauna, spa. If you’re member then you can got 10% discount in Spa and Cafe. The monthly fee for membership is £45 which is very reasonable. I recommend you. Atleast one time you should visit the Bannatyne club club.

Negative experience: Terrible. Unfortunately i purchased a wowcher for my girlfriend to have a day in the spa with a massage for her birthday. The fine print wouldn’t allow me to have my local spa so I had to drive 2 hours in heavy traffic to get to this spot. On the way I was held up in traffic so I called to spa informing of the delay so they would rearrange the massage appointment. They refused. I arrived with 20 mins left of a 30 min appointment time. I had to wait 15 mins to be seen because the front desk had one staff member who was busy. Then when we tried to get the massage they said we were too late they have other appointments. We didn’t bother to argue we thought let’s try and enjoy the spa. Well it’s no more than a gym with a sauna and steam room. I have nothing against kids but when they are screaming it’s not the best venue to relax. It was overcrowded. Some of the staff were young and acted like they had better things to do. It wasn’t very clean and you have to pay extra for towels and slippers. Never again.

Marianne Santis-Spilling 1 year ago

Negative experience: The bar staff weren't very knowledgeable or friendly. The dairy alternatives weren't great, which is odd for a health spa. We weren't asked about any allergies when we ordered food. The toilets are shabby and not well maintained. The whole place needs a spruce, the carpet is stained and tired, the light fixtures were hanging and stained, chairs were stained with rips in the fabric.

olga prentice 1 year ago

Negative experience: Our whole family were members, some for over 3 years. The place is poorly managed. Facilities at the pool side are taking turns in being broken down. Sales staff are always scrolling on phones whilst reception staff are struggling with guests waiting to be served. Showers covered in hairs. Wowcher people are treated better than long standing members and are allowed to be in the swim lane, on phones, not shower between using poolside facilities, take up all loungers and not even use them or wear micro bikinis during family swim times. What an eye opener it was when we visited Nuffield where facilities are modern and clean, there's an order and simple rules everyone follows, so much more in terms of equipment and classes, free parking and reception staff who are exceptionally polite and professional as opposed to substandard Bannatyne. And we have even saved £25 p/m as a family. Why we didn't look around before is beyond us. Would give Bannatynes -100 if i could

Negative experience: It was a disgusting experience. Had visible evidence was going through hell with my health, from GP to oncologist, and they still drugged me through mad to get a letter from the doctors for cancellation.Even explained was going for treatment abroad as no help here at the moment, provided letter from there still drugged me through mad and very bad, stressful experience. I needed to pay for the letters from GP and wasted time someone could use it the appointment. Only to discuss the letter i waited some time for the appointment as under care of specialist. Send photos emails. It is very sad that they put people in this stress in the most difficult time. Very sad, stressful, disappointing experience ever. Though this will be my tranquillity place but my health deteriorated. Think twice as they are all so nice when only selling.

Negative experience: Came here with a friend for a spa and it's very... meh. I mean if you want luxury spa this really isn't it, go elsewhere. The spa was OK but felt very rushed and didn't seem like they could be bothered massaging. Very unorganised, didn't like the fact you have to walk through the gym to the female changing rooms and up the stairs to the treatment room ... bit awkward when there are loads of men working out seeing you in your robe. Not enough beds for the pool .. it's OK just wouldn't waste your money ..pay abit extra and go luxury. Also was given a rushed tour ( again like they couldn't be bothered) was nearly late to our treatment for them taking their time at reception checking people In and giving tours. I just wouldn't call this a spa at all such a rip off

This was suppose to be a relaxing day for us all..Disaster from the time we started our Journey this morning..The Spa very dated , dirty and floors sticky with a musty smell so disappointed and I hate complaining. No Manager in to complain to so was just given a email.I wouldn't waste your money ..

Fantastic experience: The spa is incredible. Me and my sister came in for the deep lava shell massage for back, neck and leg. Negative experience: Avoid this spa!!! I’d give it 0star if I could. Rude staff, unhelpful and unkind. I got a buy gift voucher for my birthday. First of all me and my mum had facial&back massage booked it lasted no longer than 15minutes and was not relaxing staff was rude and just wanted to get it over and done with. We had cream tea booked and it was just plain scone nothing else awful!! We had to pay £40 for spa day bags which was not stated in confirmation email or phone call day before £20 was refundable but £20 for towel and robe that we gave to return anyway?? What the point! You have walk through gym to get to spa so it’s uncomfortable. It’s also very dirty! This spa day wasn’t cheap , what a wasted day with rude staff. Never come here!! Save your money

Negative experience: I joined Bannatyne Milton keynes in 2022 and would only give half a star to it. Cons - Parking is paid, Jacuzzi, steam and sauna either if them is broken each day. Steam room needs a deep clean and washrooms are very unhygienic. Limited machines in the gym, due to paid parking if you go after 6 p.m you will hardly get chance to use machines. Lockers are unsafe, I kept my stuff in locker and wrnt for swimming. Someone took my toiletry pouch, complained to reception but they blame you as if you didn’t locked the locker properly. All gyms offer cancel anytime, however here you need 1 month notice period. Staff is rude and changing rooms are always under repair. I gained 10kgs after joining this gym, regretting leaving PureGym. Pros- it got swimming pool.. haha I shared this in other groups too, please choose wisely if you want to waste money or really want to get into fitness.

Negative experience: Had a Swedish massage- upgraded to shell massage at entrance & had sharp neck pain for a week after. Facilities aren't as nice as other Bannatynes and the staff left me at the counter to check in / out, they couldn't care less.

Positive experience: Slightly dated pool/spa area. Very popular/busy on weekends. Ok/average treatments. Fabulous tropical garden area for relaxing after the treatments. Convenient location. Decent little cafe. An enjoyable spa day out with friends.

Louise Hankinson 1 year ago

Negative experience: I personally would not recommend this place for a Spa Day. There are a number of reasons why: You walked through an empty/desserted shopping to get to it and its the more welcoming experience. To get to the changing rooms you have to walk through the gym. The changing rooms are not overly clean and only a handful of private cubicles to change in. When having a spa treatment (a facial) I had to share the room with my friend having a back massage, not a problem but would of expected separate rooms. The towels on the spa bed felt damp. After the treatment we went in a very cold pool and only lasted 10 minutes before needing a warm shower. After going back to the changing rooms to have a shower I found them full of hair, again not overly clean. I was expecting afternoon tea once ready but this consisted of a plain scone with cream and jam. I wanted a decaf drink but they could only offer a decaf coffee nothing else. A scone and a drink is not afternoon tea! Also ordered jam and toast and it said it came with butter. But it was in fact cheap margarine after checking. So not as advertised. Overall, fairly disappointed with the whole experience and would not recommend. The only element I enjoyed was the facial but that was it. Feel they need to look at the guest experience. Much nicer places to go so don't waste your money!

Positive experience: Myself & my partner were gifted a spa day here. When we arrived the lady behind the desk looked very miserable & said "yes, what are you here for ?". She then said she couldn't show us around as there was no one to cover her. We were directed to the spa desk where another lady there looked at us approaching and walked off. We waited 10 minutes before she reappeared and even then ignored us. We approached her to ask what we needed to do and where to go. I can say that the facilities are good and very clean, but customer service leaves something to be desired. Although the guy on the desk when we were leaving was very lovely, polite and helpful.

Positive experience: Me and my boyfriend visited today as we received a buy and gift voucher for a spa day. I’ll start with the positives: lovely relaxation area with all the trees and water fountains. Pool area was quite clean Gym and changing rooms were decent My spa treatments were amazing, I wish I paid extra to have them extended! Negatives which sort of ruined the experience for us: They were renovating the steam room so we couldn’t use it, which would’ve been totally fine with us if it wasn’t for all the loud drilling when we were trying to relax, it was so loud and frequent that we had no chance of just chilling out, would of been nice to have a pre warning of this so we could’ve either chosen a different date to come or chosen a different Bannatyne to visit. On arrival we had to pay £40, £20 of which was refundable at the end when we drop off the robes and towels. We explained we already had our own flip flops so essentially we paid £10 each to borrow a towel and robe. I fancied a coffee, I’m dairy and soya intolerant, there coffee machine can only do coffees with cows milk I was told. I was offered an instant coffee with some soya milk which I also couldn’t have. My partners spa treats were cut short, was supposed to be 46 minutes, started 5 mins late, she left the room for a few minutes and also finished early essentially giving him a 35 minute treatment. Bit of a shame really as we were really looking forward to it as we’ve had some really pleasant experiences at other bannatyne locations.

Kinga Ma 1 year ago

Positive experience: I had a spa day booked for my mum and myself. The place was very very horrible and ugly and overwhelming with outdated decor. I read the reviews now and wish I saw them earlier so that I could prepare myself mentally for what to expect. If I could rate the place and the actual treatment separately then I would give zero stars to the place, cleanliness of it and state of it and 5 stars to the spa girls and the treatment. Ruby and Madeline were absolutely amazing and the massage was really good and they had a very professional approach. It’s a shame they have to work in such an ugly place. The staff at reception were very neutral with their attitude so a little smile from them would have been nice.

Andrew Hobden 1 year ago

Negative experience: We booked for a Spa day and we were glad we decided to only go for the treatments and leave. The decor was shabby and resembled a 1980s public pool. Stained ceiling tiles and rusty fittings. The hot tub was tiny and packed with limited relaxation areas or even seating. Mr Bannatyne, you really need to pull your socks up mate, this location is disappointing and we won't be going back.

Dani 1 year ago

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience. The facilities were dirty, with both lifts out of action and steam room not working. The massage I received was far from relaxing; I left feeling bruised instead. Charging extra for basic amenities like towels and dressing gowns was unacceptable. Considering the prices, I expected better maintenance and customer service. I won't be returning, and I advise others to think twice before investing in a membership here. It's time for Duncan Bannatyne to invest in improving the facilities and staff training.

Negative experience: Where do I start......Don't go for a spa day! You wonder through a deserted Mall that feels like a horror movie. The lovely indoor plants and goldfish ponds have nothing to do with the relaxing spa. The first thing you see is a tiny pool with a jacuzzi stuffed with people. You are shown around on a tour, through a warren of corridors and endless doors. Paraded through the gym in your spa gear while people are trying to work out to thumping music. The food is limited and was cold. Had to ask 3 times for our drinks. The staff are nice enough, but there is no communication and they are very disorganised. The massage was painful and not relaxing at all, I had to ask her to not be so rough. I was very disappointed as this was a treat that I had waited for, for a while. If you want a gym great, go. If not, do not waste your money here.

Negative experience: Not a spa environment. At all. Staff are pleasant but young and disorganised. The pool and 2 saunas (that’s the spa) are packed with locals and every deck chair was claimed with a towel. The whole environment is taken up by a large gym with loud club music.. I could have gone to my local pool and used their sauna at a fraction of the price because this is essentially what it is, spa day, this ain’t Don’t waste your time or money

Positive experience: A visit to the Bannatyne Health Club and Spa in Milton Keynes was a delightful experience. The serene garden set a peaceful tone, and the staff provided a warm welcome and detailed tour. However, accessibility for people with disabilities needs to be greatly improved. The spa treatments and café offerings were exceptional, and the facility provided luxurious amenities and a picturesque outdoor area. The Pure Pamper Spa Day for 2 cost £129, and the facility offered a variety of food and drink options.

Negative experience: Ok gave it 2 stars at that was for the treatments Can’t say a lot about the rest of the experience Outdated decor lots of steps the ones going down into the pool very slippery, accident waiting to happen. The pool itself was cold the sun beds if you managed to get one, sitting relaxing reading a book but with above dripping on you and all over the sunbeds with water. Had to pay for towels and robes £10 complete waste of money i thought they refunded you but no they don’t. We eat in the cafe was ok was expensive but what we expected to pay for a leisure centre. The treatments the best part lovely ladies. Apart from that wouldn’t recommend going here plus £16.00 to park.

Negative experience: Worst spa experience in my life. I normally dont post reviews. I brought a spa day for two with them and they said 45mins in total out of which they said 5 mins will be consultation which I was okay with. Booked in for 2.30pm and got there on time. First of all, the two spa ladies came 5 mins late(2.35pm). They went out for 8 mins "so we could get changed". They came back in at 2.44pm and started the treatment at 2.45pm. They stopped at 3.09pm which was in total 25mins max out of the 40 mins which is 15mins less than what was promised. I wouldn't have posted a review if it was less than 5mins. Its not about the money that was wasted it's about the principle. A reputed company like Bannatyne should employ people who atleast do 10% of the effort what they are paid for.

Positive experience: I have recently attended the joint massage session with my sister and it turned out the massage for two we had meant we are having a massage in two separate rooms. It was a pleasure anyway, however what is the point of having a massage for two if we were not able to at least see each other.

Positive experience: It gets extremely busy on weekends when they allow the public to use the spa facilities, which I think is unfair for full paying members. The evenings are also very busy. There is no parking, you have to either wait until 6pm or park in Sainsbury's for free. It's very difficult to book classes as they get full almost instantly as the slots open. The members are quite friendly there in comparison to other places I've been to. The staff are very helpful and can't fault them.

Positive experience: After reading really bad reviews I was nervous about coming but actually apart from looking old in decor, it was a nice clean place to be. Staff really helpful. I would reserve your judgement and come and see for yourself. We came 11 am on a Wednesday. Not busy at all You pay for parking. We did it via the app on phone, much easier. I bought a Groupon voucher for 2. We arrived and were met by a lovely young lady. She explained where everything was. My son paid for a towel and robe. She took what time we wanted lunch. Downside not much of a lunch choice. It was poached egg on toast. Jacket potato or soup. Food was nice. Jacket potato skin tasted really salty. We made our way to gym to get to changing rooms. These were big clean and bright with toilets , showers and hairdryers. There is a lift to take you down if you have mobility issues. Spa treatments were hot stone massage and bamboo one. Both of them were amazing. Jacuzzi was like a hot bubbly bath. Could have sat in there all day. Pool, sauna and steam room were great. My son highly recommends them Son returned his towel and robe and had some money credited back. I recommend coming here and judge for yourself. I will be going back.

Negative experience: WORST EXPERIENCE The worst decision of my life is joining thia club, I was never in a contract with them, but they looted a big sum of money when I ended my membership citing medical reasons, same thing happened to my wife as well, I would not recommended anyone to join this club its very expensive and lots of hidden costs and clauses in their membership. I even ended up in an injury because of their faulty equipments which theu have in their records

Negative experience: Been recently for a day spa with my boyfriend and I will say never again. The worst experience ever. I got a full day spa for two with light lunch and this is something I got, the picture itself explanatory. If you can call it as a lunch , never seen a pure toast in my life like this one(RIDICULOUS ) The service it was awful and not really helpful staff ,at the checkout even though we had done the payment and the checking when we arrived we been waiting for long time to do the checkout and because ‘´couldn’t find the payment’’ when it was the same person who have done the checking in our arrival and it was all right with everything and the payment too. Hidden fees like the towel you need to pay extra money and it wasn’t mentioned at all at the booking. The massage it wasn’t best. Not enjoyable and relaxing day at all! I wish I read the reviews before.

Negative experience: Went here with my girl friends - Had a “spa day” - we all did different packages - I chose the package of 40 mins - salt scrub and body massage.. The entrance to the spa was the only nice thing about this place. There was a lovely tropical vibe walking in. the spa it self was very dated, dirty, and just needed a good scrub all round. Ceilings were rotten in the pool areas / hardly any lounge beds to lie down for us all. Wasn’t allowed your phones anywhere had to be in the locker, to where two members of staff literally shouted no phones in the pool area as we had them there like anyone else would and didn’t realise that was even a rule. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. my review is for my personal experience and I found the actual treatment was terrible, rushed and I was in the room by 5.30 - nothing started til 10 mins later or so.. had the scrub - the salt scrub itself was okay - the massage wasn’t at all good. I generally thought oil was put on my body softly and then the massage would have started. But no the massage (what I’d call a massage anyways) didn’t even begin. The oil being put on my body softly was the massage! I was out the room by 6pm so I was in the room half an hour 10mins less than booked for - to which about 10 mins of that the girl was out the room out of the 30 mins I was there, I also showered in that time to rinse the salt scrub off me. 40 mins - was pretty much like 15/20mins in total. - the therapist herself was lovely an friendly enough Plus the staff at the reception weren’t the best! - at one point we were eating food in the cafe - what I’d assume the manager was shouting out of the office to other staff for a drink! - the whole place is baffling I also paid £12.50 for parking for 5h added extra cost to the day! And you have to pay extra for robe flip flops and towel £10pp (you do get this back but it isn’t stated when booking)

Negative experience: Extremely poor customer service, highly disappointed. NEVER GOING AGAIN! I had received a voucher for my birthday for a spa day and 3 elemis treatments. I did arrive a few minutes late due to lack of car parking availability nearby. Once I arrived at the Reception I waited for approx 10 minutes, when I finally spoke to Receptionist to check-in, she said “oh hurry up to the spa area”. When I arrived at the Spa area a couple of team members were chatting, then gave me a medical form to complete. Then one of the members took me to the spa treatment room, and said as I was late I only get 2 out of the 3 treatments. I was very annoyed and said that is nit accetable as I admit I was a few mins late, however was waiting at the Reception for long period of time, and Im sure you can see that from your cameras. She said there’s nothing she can do about that, I’d have to speak to the Manager. If I speak to the Manager immediately I would loose more of the treatment time, so I opted to speak to the Manager after my already “shortened” treatment. Throughout the treatment it felt very rushed, barely spoke to me, the customer service is absolutely appalling. After the treatment she asked “do you still want to speak to the Manager”, I said yes of course. The Manager was pretty much the same, extremely bad customer service, facial expressions looked like she was annoyed at the fact she was having to speak to me, and just said there’s nothing they can do. I’ve never come across such appalling customer service, disgraceful!!! Never going again!!

Negative experience: Sadly I wouldn't reccomend. After reading the not great reviews I decided to give MK Banatyne a chance as I like to make my own opinion. And I have to say, although I didn't have high expectations it was definatly worse than I first thought it might be. Credit where credit is due the receptionists and spa staff were friendly. While being guided by a lovely receptionist a couple of metres in to the facility just passed the turn style's we were greated by a lovely work man (who took up most of the corridor whilst filling a whole in the wall). I was then shown the toilet/wet room... VERY dated and unclean. Our massages were not the best. And we were definatley short changed on the time taken for our "mini" massages. Not that we complained as we just wanted to leave ASAP. In addition to this during my massage the body combat class started so music was blaring. Far from the relaxing experience that I'd hoped for. My friend and I arrived at 5.10pm and were back in the car at 6pm. So I that time I went to the toilet. Had my "massages" and then swiftly left. We didn't even want to try the pool and other spa facilities... I didn't dare. But from looking in to poolside the hot tub was over crowded and only one person in the swimming pool so I can only assume that was cold. I hate having to leave a bad review but for anyone who might be going for a special occasion, anniversary, girls trip etc I am sure you could find nicer spa's for the same money.

Negative experience: Needs refurbishment, very tired looking. Spa towels were like rags and grey in colour, so unable to judge cleanliness, very poor standards. Out of an hour of treatments received 45 minutes at best. I will not be returning.

Negative experience: I've been to many spas but this place is probably the worst one I've tried. Firstly there was a mix up with the booking, then after spending ages filling in questionnaires, nobody told us the lift didn't work. If you are disabled like we are that's a deal breaker. Then we were given a lightening tour of the place and we couldn't help but notice that it's in a bit of a shabby condition all round. Had a massage and was laying down looking at the mould in the room. Laying by the pool we were staring at the leaking ceiling and ugly stained ceiling tiles. Every where we looked was dated and dirty. I'm not blaming the cleaners as I only saw 2 of them and you need much more than that for the size of the place. We had a lovely massage though by a pair of lovely friendly young girls, nice lunch and friendly reception people were great. For what they charge, they are not up to standard unfortunately. We won't be going back.

Fantastic experience: Came for a spa day and really enjoyed it! The massage was lovely and all the staff were kind. I wish the gym was bigger though

Negative experience: Myself and my partner visited your Milton Keynes site yesterday (3/12/2023) it had been purchased for my birthday. The massage itself wasn't too bad although the girls poured the oil directly onto our backs which was freezing and being in the beauty industry myself, I know it's supposed to be warmed in the hands first. My main upset was your facilities, we came onto the poolside and the jacuzzi was out of order, being fixed by a personal trainer and instructor? They didn't have a clue what to do by the looks of it. We went to have a shower to wash off the oil from the massage before entering the pool and your showers were freezing, we got in the pool which was so cold it was a shock to the system. Most uncomfortable after having a relaxing massage. We couldn't stay in the pool as it was too cold so got out to sit on the most uncomfortable loungers with air conditioning being pumped into an area that people are already cold and wet, we waited and waited for the jacuzzi to be fixed to which it seemed to be but everyone going in it said it was freezing so we didn't bother and just left early. Your showers in the changing rooms were also freezing so I just got dressed and left feeling so stressed and cold that I burst into tears once we left. This was the most unrelaxing time that was supposed to be a joyous time for my birthday and paid hard earned money for. You need to update your tired and dirty looking building and I will never come back and advise anyone else not to use bannatyne too.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with this ‘Spa Experience’ from the moment I walked in. Not an inviting reception. It was so cold. No hearing on, anywhere. Needs a good clean and updating. Mould. Broken beds. Out of order steam room. Badly laid out throughout. Went for lunch in the reception cafe/restaurant. Out of what we wanted. Cheap sparse and tasteless. The massage was the only thing that was good about this visit. At 3pm the pool turns into an after school club. Not a nice experience which was really a shame as was a treat for my daughter. I can honestly say this is the worst Soa Experience I’ve ever had!!!

Positive experience: In the spa Staff amazing!, treatments amazing. Couple of things Celine tile cracked near wires. Looks like an accident waiting to happen. I reccommend a timer on Jacuzzi on weekends or maybe a future investment for 2. one lady and partner sat in there a full hour and half and still in when i left and did not move. Had her back oposit to the usual way you would sit in a Jacuzzi staring at the pool area the whole time too. Which was a little uncomfortable. Not really fair on others so timer could work out a good thing and beneficial for all.

Fantastic experience: The spa was located in a quite uninviting building, however when you get to the health club and spa, you're greeted by this internal mini forest which is a really fun experience as you're walking to the spa. The facilities, two saunas, a steam room, jacuzzi, swimming pool and pool side chairs, all in good working order, the showers were clean, the locker rooms and toilets were all a good standard. Staff at reception were helpful, informative and friendly. The spa was incredible, the treatments lava stones and a facial, both executed very well, the therapists were professional, courteous, and personable. All a very good experience. It's just a shame we live 100s of miles away or I'd be a regular visitor!

Negative experience: It’s a joke how awful this place is Staff- (Billy Courtney on name badge) in particular very rude dismissive, unhelpful member of staff. So unwelcoming and unprofessional upon arrival. Very disappointing as this set the day off to a very bad start. Showing no customer service Facilities were shocking, smelly, old, mouldy, grimy. Didn’t feel comfortable using facilities, such as pool, jacuzzi. Steam room tiles are all cracked, hairs everywhere. Food was shocking, coffee not good. Treatment was the only reason we stayed until the end of the day, treatments times were changed without any contact, Billy seemed to find this funny laughing in our face. Not the best treatment I’ve had, far from it, but therapist was nice. Avoid this place at all costs

Negative experience: 1 STAR - IS 1 STAR TOO MANY! My friend and I arrived at the Milton Keynes Bannatynes on the 03/11/23 at approximately 11:30 to be greeted eventually by an unwelcoming and unhelpful staff member (name badge states: Billy Courtney). Of whom, we were later surprised and disappointed in the fact that he was the duty manager responsible. Initially, my friend questioned the parking situation (having not been before) of which his response saw him laugh in her face, followed by the answer we required of it is pay and display. However, and more disappointedly, we were asked what time our treatments were of which I provided email confirmation of 15:30. The response given was that we were wrong and that due to staffing issue’s treatment times had been changed. Of which I explained we had not been informed, his response was sarcastic in tone “well someone should have.” We followed with a request of any flexibility upon treatment times (ie earlier), to which we were once again laughed at and told no. Essentially, meaning to get the treatments we had paid for we have then had to change our childcare plans to accommodate this change in treatment time that we were uninformed of. As a whole, the most shocking part really was the duty manager’s overall customer service. His complete dismissiveness, aggressive tone, sarcastic attitude and lack of helpfulness, really set what supposed to be and advertised as a relaxing spa day turned into quite the opposite - and was unfortunately from the moment we arrived, which ruined both of our days. Furthermore, the facilities themselves were not adequate, to the extent neither of us felt comfortable to enter the swimming pool or jacuzzi. This due to the extreme smell of chlorine and the abnormal colour of the water, combined with the physical dirt upon the what was supposed to be the colour red lane divider. There was chewing gum also on one of the only remaining loungers. In addition, the cafeteria offering was far from relaxing with damp stained ceilings. The so called “waiting room” was simply the gym’s access corridor with 3 or 4 ripped brown leather sofas. This general state of decline was evident everywhere, leaving hygiene standards questionable, making our experience far from the relaxation promised. Despite this, our therapists were friendly and our treatments were adequate but could not change the overall effect of what was sadly an extremely poor experience. Avoid at all costs.
