Our comment from FitFit UK about Tandridge Leisure Centre:

Welcome to Tandridge Leisure Centre, a family-friendly facility located in Oxted, United Kingdom, perfect for a fun day out with your loved ones. Many visitors commend the excellent gym facilities, a spacious pool, and the relaxing steam and sauna rooms, along with the jacuzzi which promises a great experience for relaxation.

Families enjoy the lagoon pool with its gentle incline, making it ideal for younger children to build confidence in the water. The centre provides great value for money and has plenty of activities tokeep the kids engaged.

While the centre boasts numerous positives, some aspects need improvement. Several users noted that the changing facilities and showers could be cleaner, with some experiences highlighting hygiene concerns in the changing rooms. Additionally, it has been reported that certain amenities like the water slide, wave machine, and other features are often out of service, leaving visitors disappointed.

Moreover, issues with customer service were highlighted, particularly concerning the lack of communication around facility closures and limited online booking options, making it frustrating for guests who arrive hoping to enjoy the amenities.

Despite these challenges, many affirm that Tandridge Leisure Centre remains a good choice for family outings, especially for those looking to enjoy swimming and leisure in a welcoming community environment.

Fantastic experience: % recommended, very nice place to have a fun time with the family

Rosie Real 9 months ago

Positive experience: Excellent gym facilities, very nice pool, steam and sauna and nice jacuzzi too. Shower facilities not good, one hot shower in ladies toilets, poolside showers cold.

Vicki Phillips 9 months ago

Negative experience: Pool, sauna and steam is regularly closing due to lack of staff with NO notice to members or users at all! Bubble pool is never on or open! Don't get me started to the hygiene of the changing rooms and toilets in the changing area as they are rotting away!

Negative experience: Looks like the schools have 99% usage, same for caterham pool.

Fantastic experience: Great place to take the family for a swim. The lagoon pool has a gentle incline to it, which has massively helped my 3 year old with developing her confidence in the water. The family swim times are not in sessions, so there is no mad rush for changing rooms in and out, which was a massive positive. Oxted also has some good lunch options so you can easily make a trip out of it.

Lucy Chasing the Sun 10 months ago

Positive experience: If we had listened to the reviews, we would not have gone. But I’m glad we just lowered our expectations and went for it. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful, changing rooms are decent enough, saw staff mopping floors twice in our short visit. Pool fun for the kids, wave machine was working, it wasn’t too busy. Overall thought it was a nice local pool

Positive experience: There Is something here to keep every member of the family fit and occupied. I'd recommend getting active here no matter the weather.

Negative experience: The older lady on reception (not the one with the blonde exstentions) is so uninterested and unhelpful. It was our first time visiting as we wanted to join a local leasure centre, so we thought we would book a swim session to see if it was worth purchasing a membership each. I can tell you that after the appalling customer service on reception, we won't be returning. We parked the car and went to pay but the machine didn't accept the card, which was fine, so we went into the centre and asked if we could potentially get some coins. The lady in question responded and said,'No, but morrisons have a machine'. She then followed up with 'but it's not working' so I asked how we were expected to park if there is no way to be given coins or no tickets that can be given, we basically got a shrug of shoulders. I have to stress that it isn't WHAT she said its the 'how dare you expect me to do what I'm paid to do and actually provide customer services' attitude that came with what she said. We then went back outside, and a man who was also visiting the centre was kind enough to give us a pound coin for parking, as he had heard the conversation. So we thought great! Let's go swimming! Alas, we were met with another issue! The lockers take coins, and the woman in question made it clear that she wasn't prepared to help in any way. There was, however, a younger girl on reception who really did try to come up with solutions, she was actually great. She mentioned that they have tokens for members and suggested that we might be able to use one of those, at which point the older woman shut the conversation down with an agitated 'no'. Long story short we did manage to get a coin for the locker in morrisons and came back, the lady with extentions was on the reception computer and the woman with the bad attitude was on the computer next to her. So now we are standing there looking at each other, waiting for someone to take payment for the swim session (being ignored). The lady with the extensions then directs us to the other woman after being stood there awkwardly. You had to have been there to understand the attitude, because in reading this, you might be thinking it's not a big deal. Like I said, it isn't what was said it's how it was said. I was a receptionist for over 15 years, and I can tell you I would have been fired for less. They made us feel like we we had an audacity for asking for any kind of help, very short 1 word 'hurry up' type responses. Generally appalling customer service. We won't be proceeding with a membership. A terrible way to treat potential new customers.

Negative experience: This place hasn’t been refurbed in about 30 years. Very tired and run down. The Costa coffee is shocking- awful watery coffee and the man behind the counter is so miserable he can barely speak! Terrible service. None of the fountains in the pool work.

Fantastic experience: Great for young kids, bit pricey

Negative experience: Needs a strong focus on customer service and cleanliness from the management.

Positive experience: Visited the Leisure Pool's Little Splashers session here and my little one had a great time! Just enough to keep him entertained in the water (wave machine, little fountains, small slide & flume). I would definitely return again because its not too far from us and the little one enjoyed it in the pool but, it could do with a major refurb of the toilets within the swimming area which were probably the worst I have seen in a long time with tap fixtures completely missing from one sink, no soap in the dispensers, huge areas of mould spores on the suspended ceiling tiles, rust on cubicle doors and walls, holes in doors and walls where fixtures had been removed, toilet role casings missing and just a general untidy and unclean look and feel (this was in the ladies toilets) - pretty grim! The changing rooms are quite small but thats not that unusual in these pools. Many of the lockers were unusable because the keys had no wristband attached to them. Parking was OK, it was busy but we did managed to find a space in the parking area itself. You need coins! Couldn't seem to pay any other way. Top tip: Bring £2-£5 for parking and a £1 coin for each locker needed. Bring hand sanitiser! ; )

Negative experience: Attended at 12pm today to swim on my 1 hour lunch break, however I had to queue for 10 minutes upon entry. I was then advised that I couldn’t swim as it was full. Poor customer service and no apology. I looked on their website last night, and it states that you can’t book a slot online in advance either. I was really looking forward to a swim, so I am really disappointed. Recommendation would be to open an adult swimming lane (or two) during the lunch period.

Positive experience: I took my grandson for a swim at this pool because it was easy to enter the pool. But I've notice is very grubby it needs a good clean up. The staff are not very happy seem a bit put out if you ask a question. It a shame that the up keep seems not a priority.

Jan Spencer 1 year ago

Positive experience: I think the sessions should be for 2 hours, not 1 hour and 20 minutes. The pool is not packed. Shame the slide is not working and hasn't been for years. Happier staff would be good!

John Mason 1 year ago

Positive experience: Great family swimming pool

Kevin Ludbrook 1 year ago

Positive experience: It's ok! A local pool with a good layout for swimming or larking around. Water features and a wave machine that my kids loved 25 years ago. Sadly it's hardly been updated since then and is a bit grubby. Now with a granddaughter and it's the same water toys, rust on the door signs, plenty of broken lockers and showers. Staff always seem a bit grumpy. But it's got warm water in and you can swim which is the main thing.

KATIE JANE HENRY 1 year ago

Negative experience: Not recommended. The slide is closed during the week, and we weren't told before paying to go in. The prices are higher than shown on the website. The wave machine is extremely weak and only lasts a few minutes, once an hour. The showers don't stay on for more than three seconds. I had no idea what coin to put in the hairdryer as it wasn't indicated.

ejs355 1 year ago

Positive experience: It's ok, does the job I guess for what we want although the prices have recently gone up for swimming! And the the standards have hardly gone up to match the price increase! Also, literally every time I ring them they never answer!! That's just basic and terrible.

Positive experience: Car park contactless not working. No change for lockers

A S 1 year ago

Negative experience: Expensive for what you get. Pay for the car park, lockers and hairdryers. Plus haven’t seen the white flume working in over 4 visits in the last year. Staff are friendly, and facilities clean. However, there are better places to take a toddler swimming.

Beccy Lovegrove 1 year ago

Negative experience: Misleading website We arrived an hour before the splash pool was advertised as closing, but were told the pool was already closed for lessons, even though there were clearly people still in there. Reception staff couldn't provide any logical reason as to why we couldn't use the pool - we knew we'd only have an hour in the water anyway, why not take our money and let us in. If you need to arrive more then an hour before the session ends, this should be clearly indicated on the website.

Negative experience: My son was wanting to go swimming somewhere with a slide and wave machine, as other pools like K2 and Horsham were not open today, I decided to take him here, hoping last years issues would be rectified. I last visited a year before today and once again we were met with a slide which was once again not in use for the entire time we swam , toilets still filthy and all, but one was out of action. Toilets still have the same sanitary bins placed on top of the toilets to indicate they’re out of use. There was one toilet in use with a broken lock on the door. Last year their sink had no taps attached, just a redundant sink and today the pieces were just left next to the second broken sink, first sink is still sat there with two holes where the taps used to be and second sink was the same with half an attachment. The floors were filthy and rubbish left in almost every changing area. The showers were faulty with few anctually working and when turned on, the spray lasts for 10 seconds until you are required to press it again. My son was told the wave machine would be on in 5 minutes by the staff, 20 minutes went by, then he asked again, was told to wait longer. They did not bother with the wave at all, for the entire time we were there. Staff were rude to my children because they dared to ask about the waves , stating “if they break when we turn them on, I’ll blame you!” I have no idea what that even means …. Strange! She also held her fist up to my son, after blowing the whistle because he dared to go behind the rope whilst playing. Strange behaviour and dirty place with lots of issues. I called before I arrived, to try and book , in case met with disappointment with “sorry we’re full!” But no answer, several times, so we took the risk. I mentioned this upon arrival Guy on desk sarcastically commented “that’s weird, I have been answering calls all morning”, clearly trying to make me feel like a liar, but a blatant gaslighter who knows they never answer the phone, as clearly that system isn’t fit for purpose either. I’d suggest opening up an online booking system , but I honestly won’t be returning, so it’s irrelevant, now.

Andrew Rix 1 year ago

Positive experience: The pool is a little run down, especially the changing area and showers.

Paul Miles 1 year ago

Negative experience: Why is it no one Ever answer the phone at oxted branch. Clearly no proper management there. What a joke. This has been the case for years. I wouldnt waste my time ever again..try it for yourself. It will ring for hours..and no i havent called the wrong number. Sort it out !! I had to highlight a star to get it to post but not worth any stars

Faye k 1 year ago

Negative experience: Total joke. There's no point having a timetable if you don't stick to it. No one ever answers the phone. The young girl working at the front desk needs some serious communication skills. Zero ducks given at this establishment. I think they need to read the reviews. Embarrassing

Paula lewin 1 year ago

Positive experience: Dirty changing rooms, keys missing in lockers, other keys with string attached.

Jo Compton 1 year ago

Negative experience: When the pool facilities are actually up and running it’s a great basic pool for the kids. Frustratingly these are often unavailable because of staff shortages but there’s no means of finding out until you arrive. No one answers the phone so you can check or updates the website! A note on the website to say no inflatable or slide would save a lot of stress and frustration. It’s also a pretty dirty facility.

Phil W 1 year ago

Negative experience: This is an OK facility but let down by poor organisation / management around the booking system and in need of some investment. The website asks you to call to reserve a slot however no one picks up the phone when you call (we tried yesterday and today). So we arrived a few minutes after it opened and the pool was already full. Obviously very frustrating and disappointing for the kids. Please either have someone available to pick up calls or provide an on line booking service..... When you can get in - you'll find that the facilities are rather tired eg. some of the coin operated lockers don't have keys or the key will be there but the rubber wrist band broken / missing (remember to take a £1 coin). Also everything feels like it needs a bit of a scrub. But the wave machine and inflatable are great. Finally it would be great to be able to pay for parking with a card or via an app (not many of us have piles of £1 coins readily available anymore....).

Negative experience: They wouldn't let me and my nephew go swimming even though its there policy of 8+. Ignorant rude staff. I offered to prove he was 8 but they wouldnt listen. Really unhappy with the ecperience.

Negative experience: Visited twice.. both times I was greeted (if that's what you call it) by a member of staff called Jackie. I don't usually call people out but she was highly unprofessional I also overheard her having a go at a younger member of staff who was also on reception. Wont be returning!!!!

Positive experience: In need of refurbishment but best option for swimming in the area

Yilmaz Jones-Mahmut 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Took our son there for a swim and it was fun seeing him in the water regardless of it being half term. Out of all the showers 4 were cold only otherwise great experience.

James Kinnell 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice leisure centre and friendly staff. Lagoon pool is defenitly worth a visit with children. Centre is slightly tired unfortunately.

Greig Cave 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good pool and atmosphere for kids. Changing area could do with being kept cleaner and with less broken lockers.

Elly Parkin 1 year ago

Negative experience: It's gone down hill. We used to love coming here for a swim but this visit today was so disappointing. Water is so much colder than it used to be, but I know that so kids were in there short and rashies ro stay warm. However. There has clearly been more damage to the pool recently, which is covered in plastic. There are more broken lockers than working ones, there are 4 non working showers out of 8 and the changing room are in need of a good deep clean! Some of the hairdryers are brocken too, as on the hairdryer is actually missing from the unit! It's all just a bit yukky. Off to find a new pool to take the kids.

Paul Armstrong 1 year ago

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed after visiting your swimming pool today with my 14 month old son. The changing rooms were absolutely freezing - it was like getting undressed in a meat locker! Who wants to get into a cold pool after changing in an icy cold room? The locker situation was utterly ridiculous too. Requiring £1 change this is outdated. And of course I didn't have any £1 coins on me, so we had nowhere to put our belongings safely. You even had to pay 20p to use the hairdryer this is absolutely despicable and a little sad. Even the pool itself was too cold for a children's area. My poor son was shivering after we got out and his lips turned blue while I tried to get his clothes on quickly. This is unacceptable for a pool meant for babies and toddlers. Frankly, our entire experience today was miserable. The facilities clearly need updating a dam good clean and better maintenance. The changing rooms should be kept at a normal temperatur, a deep clean is well overdue and lockers should accept modern payment methods. If the children's pool cannot be heated properly, then you shouldn't be billing it as kid-friendly. I wanted to make sure management was aware of how unpleasant our visit was, so these problems can hopefully be addressed. Until then, we will not be returning to your establishment.

Andrew Norfolk 1 year ago

Positive experience: We had a good time, staff were friendly and the changing rooms were clean enough. But the place has clearly seen better days and is in dire need of some investment. Parking meter wasn’t accepting cards and didn’t appear to be any alternative to pay by app…

Julie G 1 year ago

Positive experience: Water in the pool was quite cool. Not suitable for younger children and the showers were freezing. About £13 for 1 adult and a child. The session was only 75 minutes. A lot of the lockers were broken. You need a pound coin to use them, which is returned. Changing rooms were not very clean. Close to the train station.

Peter Ibbotson 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have been a gym member here for 30 years and can honestly say that I have never seen the gym and mens' changing room so dirty. I fully understand the cost pressures on a facility such as this but they should at the very least keep the place clean. The gym machines are in a reasonable order but the floor is disgusting, especially around the edges. Hygiene ought to be their number 1 priority but sadly it has fallen to the bottom of their agenda. While I was in the mens' changing room yesterday a member of staff came in, signed the so-called inspection log, and promptly left. I managed to call out as she was leaving the room that the floor was filthy but she was gone in under 15 seconds. Absolutely no inspection was made. I am seriously considering whether or not to renew my membership.

Michael Bond 1 year ago

Negative experience: Water was cold, sauna & steam room shut, lots of broken tiles around the slide area, very dangerous for kids, they've attempted 'repair' some of the broken tiles on the roof pillars by covering them in a PVC plastic, lots of mould around the place, I cant imagine it will be open for much longer. Shame, it was a great place 25 years ago.

Nick Pepper 1 year ago

Positive experience: Clean and well-run municipal leisure centre. Water is often a bit cold, but that’s down to heating costs these days I guess. Swimming lessons are good, my child is making great progress

Kaya Bingham 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: A brilliant staff, very helpful and flexible. The swimming pool is a bit too shallow for me at the shallow end, but I worked out a technique to swim nd it's ok. It is a great place for families, a bit less for strictly swimming, but the water is lovely and clean, the changing rooms spacey and the lockers are just there, and many. A nice place to shower before and after the swim. I did not use the gym, so not able to review it. Worth noting: I'm here only for about 2 months, and not like in other places, I was offered a pay-monthly membership which can be cancelled when I leave. Easy parking too. So, all good.

Positive experience: Marked it down a star as the water slide wasn't open, but generally very good particularly if you go with kids as they can switch from the fun beach to the main pool easily Looking a little bit tired inside thou

Sophie McDonagh 2 years ago

Negative experience: Went for "Little splashes" which is an under 5s session. It was absolutely freezing. My 1 year old had blue lips within seconds. Its also one of the higher priced pools but for what? I had to leave after 10 minutes as it was so cold. The slide wasn't working (but then I dont think it has been for 20 years), freezing temperates, floor in chnaging rooms was filthy and 90% of lockers didnt have wrist bands for the keys. This used to be such a nice pool but sadly i wont be returning. Oh and there was a ederly man and women dry humbing the bubble seats along with touching a kissing eachother. Sadly acid in my eyes wont remove this vile image!

Fantastic experience: Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience celebrating my son’s birthday party. Thanks Chris and all the team!

Negative experience: The pool it’s self is okay… the slide wasn’t in use ( and to be honest I can’t remember the last time it was?! Except when I was a child myself and I’m now 33!) the changing rooms were adequate but the toilets were absolutely disgusting!!!!! Doors were broken and the toilets themselves were vile and dirty! All in all we won’t be rushing back!

Phil Prydderch 2 years ago

Positive experience: Have taken the kids here a few times for a swim on the weekends. They enjoy the wave machine and fun pool, including slide. Can get very busy at times, especially holidays and when weather is bad - so make sure you plan ahead as it might be full!

Keziah Mulholland 2 years ago

Negative experience: The flume is STILL out of use, so also the whirlpool is. The pirate bucket was also not in use. The cafe had no hot drinks, due to the hot drinks machine not working. The car park STILL doesn't accept card payments even though the machine has a contact less pad and a card slot. Real shame as this used to be the best swimming pool and facilities for miles around. Staff at front desk were very apologetic and looked embarrassed with all the " sorry its not working" to every request.

Rachel Lidbetter 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great place for swimming with the kids. Wasn’t too busy which was great. They seem to only allow a certain amount of people in at a time, so we had to wait about 15 minutes before we could go in, which went really quickly. Highly recommend

Ben Morrison 2 years ago

Positive experience: Not a bad facility but for the prices charged for swimming you would expect the place to be spotless and fully working. The slide has been closed for a long period of time, the changing rooms are very tired, not very clean and in general the place needs a bit of a refurb.

Negative experience: Appalling. We arrrive on bank hols Monday at 10:10 as the normal swimming is between 10 & 12. Once we get to the front of the queue, we’re told that there is an hour’s wait!!! What an awful way to try and run a business. Especially during holiday times. There’s nothing leisure about this place with other reviews stating how bad it entirety is. AVOID IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY!

the sing cory 2 years ago

Positive experience: Has a big pool with water features and wave machines. However, they have lost their respect because they have closed the slide for almost two years. The cleanliness is very gross. Loads of hair everywhere, drains, toilets, floors attached to everything, most keys are either really rusty or missing a strap. Please improve as this isn't acceptable for such a busy and popular pool

Jason Smiley 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great pool. Perfect for little ones but also has a separate area for serious swimming. They have a wave machine and other various fun bits for children that starts at around midday I believe.

Negative experience: I called them about 5 times this morning and no answer. Just wanted to know if they had lane swimming cause it doesn’t say on their website.

N 2 years ago

Negative experience: Facilities in desperate need of upgrade as DIRTY, SMELLY, & run down. Clearly just general maintenance would of helped but it’s been left to deteriorate. Unsure why so much money was spent on the reception area & not on the repulsive toilets/changing areas.. WATER SLIDE NOW CLOSED PERMANENTLY! It’s a real shame that this is our local leisure centre, as it always so dirty, the ladies toilets are disgusting with broken/worn fixtures & the smell is overbearing & nauseating. I never see staff cleaning, I’ve seen urine on the changing room floor & it was still there an hour later even after I had reported it. On a positive note, the lagoon pool is good for pre schoolers, but really it’s only saving grace is the friendly reception staff & some of the amazing swimming teachers, especially Sarah. I’ve stopped both of my kids swimming lessons now as kids don’t want to use the facilities. I appreciate currently we are riding the hard times & Freedom leisure obviously don’t want to invest in a refurb, but please CLEAN UP! The changing areas/floors need a mega deep clean, & continual cleaning through peak times. A lick of paint on doors etc would really help to freshen it up. I’ve now started to use Edenbridge leisure centre which is further to travel & although more old fashioned in looks is IMMACULATELY CLEAN & cheaper fees. I have used Tandridge leisure centre for years, & this is the 2nd time I’ve taken the kids elsewhere for swim lessons due to its dirty facilities. I will not be returning until refurbishment’s completed.

Nicola Visagie 2 years ago

Negative experience: Half the facilities were closed/not working. No waves, no slide, no jacuzzi. Yet no signs or mention of this before you are charged full price. Most lockers not working, either missing keys or key has no wrist band. Only one hairdryer working. Generally, place is run down and not been maintained. Won't be returning.

RADU NICOLAU 2 years ago

Positive experience: Great to bring kids for fun in the pool. Not all rides work. You need coins for parking £2 for 3h,£1 coin for each locker and 20p for the hair drier.

Stephen Ryan 2 years ago

Negative experience: I visited Tandridge leisure centre with my husband and two grandsons to go swimming. The pool is great for children and babies but could do with being a lot warmer we could only stay in the water for 15 minutes as the children were shivering. The big slide has also been closed for months. After warming up in the shower we then had to endure sub zero temperatures in the changing rooms it was unbearable. Needless to say I will be finding another pool to visit.

Alex 2 years ago

Negative experience: Would not recommend the kids swimming. Lessons are average and they take extra long holiday breaks so poor value for money and lack of consistency. We’ve had trouble with the cancellation process and them continuing to charge, then not responding to emails.

Chris Vowles 2 years ago

Positive experience: My 6y/o and I tend to go here a couple of times a month. It's "okay" and does the job. Few things to note. The slide (which we both enjoy) is most likely open 0.005% of the time we go. The lockers tend to work 10% of the time and the selection of food in the cafe isn't anything to write home about. Apart from that it's okay. Wave machine and bits for kids in the the pool is good and has plenty of parking (not free).

Positive experience: Great place to take your little ones swimming

Marjorie Marsh 2 years ago

Negative experience: They are absolutely complacent. The Leisure regularly change their criteria without giving enough notice to the users such as the sauna & steam opening times.

Paulo Vicente 2 years ago

Positive experience: It was OK! The (one) big slide and the relaxation pool were not working. The kids pool was a good size and the pool lanes were as expected. Wasn't really crowded and you can tell why. Kids were happy and that's what matters.

Ingrid Duck 2 years ago

Negative experience: We used to go regularly but we wont be back anymore im afraid. £20 for a swim for 2 adults and a child. Paid extra for the inflatable session to find out over14 were not allowed on it anymore. Flume was shut, bubble bath and seat shut, waves were on for about a minute and stopped, no floats to use... the place is in need of a serious refurb. Tiles missing everywhere, cracks in pool walls, pool side tiles covered in scum and green mold, paint peeling, lot of lockers broken with no keys, hair dryers gone(one left),skirting boards coming off the walls....its a shame it used to be a great place but far too expensive for a swim in a run down place

Negative experience: Useless website. Can't book swimming online. Try phoning, nobody ever answers. Reading the other reviews not even going to bother to try and turn up.

Positive experience: Quite disappointed. We've been before and enjoyed it,but this time, due to shortage of staff apparently, the wave machine was only on once in our hour restricted session, the flume wasn't in operation, and the shower was ice cold! The kids did enjoy themselves, but adults view things differently!

Negative experience: Really disappointed with my visit to the pool this week, water was much colder than usual so we didn't stay in there for our full session as it was much too cold, slide and water features also weren't working and sandwiches that we bought from the cafe were really dry. A waste of £16 entry, I wouldn't bother going again.

Positive experience: Grandaughter loved the swimming pool. Being able to walk in at her own pace really helped her confidence. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Avril Daplyn 3 years ago

Positive experience: Well organised with sessions controlled with coloured wrist bands. Water flume wasn't working but the inflatable was out between 12.00 and 1.00pm and the wave machine was used twice during our visit. Lovely big family changing rooms available.

Negative experience: AVOID. Completely useless ticket system that makes you wait for 1 hour. Staff have absolutely no clue. God knows what management are doing.

Simone O'Connor 3 years ago

Negative experience: Awful. No booking system, 45 minute drive over here for 10am to be told they were at capacity already and there was a 60 minute wait. Toddler distraught, parents angry, no mention of this on the website that this might happen. Such a ridiculous system. How is this even allowed to happen in this day and age where everyone has a booking system.

Alex Fox 3 years ago

Positive experience: Good pool for toddlers, lots of supervision, changing rooms and things to do in the pool. Slide unfortunately not operational

Anthony Abrams 3 years ago

Positive experience: Oxted pool is handy to park, close to local shops and has a pool, wave machine, steam room and sauna..winning!

Fantastic experience: Great to go to the swimming pool here, waves on regular interval in the play area. dedicated lanes area, if you want to focus on the normal swimming.

Negative experience: I have been going with my two year old daughter for the past few weeks, but we’re going to start exploring alternatives as the pool activities are hardly ever working. My good and bad points as follows: Good points: + It’s about £6 for me and my daughter, which for a 1.5hr - 2hr session I think is pretty good. + The changing rooms are pretty clean and spacious. They have quite a few family changing rooms with changing tables and nappy bins, and they have a “no shoes past this point” sign which people mostly adhere to. However, we go first thing in the morning when it’s probably been cleaned from the day before. I can imagine at the end of the day there’s a bit of accumulated grub around as it doesn’t appear to be cleaned throughout the day. + The staff are friendly and helpful (one of the guys on reception helped me out with a token for the lockers when I had ran out of change). Bad points: - This first one starts before you even get in the building - the car park! It’s a bit small, but the main problem is that you have to pay…with cash…like we’re still living in 1972. It’s only £1-2 for a couple of hours, but nowadays few people carry cash and they need to GET THE BLOODY MACHINE TO TAKE CARD PAYMENTS! Maybe there’s another machine that takes card that I’ve missed. - remember that last pound coin you found in your car footwell which sank in to the machine to be able to park? Yeh well that would have come in handy if the bloody machine had taken card because you also need a (albeit returnable) pound coin for the locker. The trolley tokens you can buy do work, but with the car park and the lockers, it’s best to prepare with a bucket full of change before you go like you’re about to hit the arcade on Brighton pier. - the staff are friendly, but being young and most likely inexperienced, they don’t seem the most organised. As we get there early, we can wait in the cafe. But then a queue forms round the front. You would assume the staff would let you know when they’re letting people in and let you go in first, but no, you’re left to discover the queue and then, so you don’t have to go right to the back of the queue, you have to sort of make your own queue from the cafe exit round to the front desk and look like you’re forcing your way in from the side. It’s just awkward an unnecessary. - probably my biggest gripe with this place is that they have some nice toys and facilities, but they don’t ever seem to work. Young kids slide? Cordoned off - the slide surface needs to be replaced. Water jet cannon? Never on. Water bucket waterfall things? Not working. I’ve had sneezes that lasted longer than the amount of time the wave machine is on for. Bearing in mind we get there at 10am, a couple of weeks ago they didn’t turn the wave machine on until about 11.30, and then for only about 1 minute. Other points The big floaty thing - I’ve never seen it out, so I can’t say whether it looks any good or not, or the amount of time it’s out for. Time limits - you get a coloured wrist band when you go in. They call you when your time is up, although if you go in at 10 you’re more likely to get at least a couple of hours because it’s emptier at the start of the day. They have a steam room and sauna in the main pool area, and seating around the sides of you want to watch but not swim. A couple of weeks ago my daughter was allowed to go down the big slide with me. Then the next week she wasn’t. I’m not sure why the rules suddenly changed overnight, but maybe they decided if we went down one more time she might explode. Oh well, saves me carrying her up the big staircase over and over! Well, that’s my review. Hopefully it was clear from the above, but if not, I really do not like the car park ticket machine. It’s stupid!

Negative experience: This place has gone so badly downhill. I last visited in 2019 and the water was a comfortable temperature, the changing rooms were clean and all showers were functional. Visited in May 2022 and everything was filthy. Balls of dust and hair were flying up around kids faces every time the automatic doors opened indicating the place isn't regularly or adequately hoovered. Visitors were made to queue through the cafe and come back around to the front desk but there was no signage or direction from staff everything was chaotic and visitors were guiding other visitors. Staff were disinterested and mono-sylabic. I was there shortly after opening but the changing rooms were filthy which suggested to me they weren't cleaned the night before. The pool water was so cold my son's lips turned blue within 20 mins of swimming. The smaller toddler slide was out of action and so were the showers. Nowhere to warm up after a really unpleasantly cold swim. Toilets were disgusting and most of the lockers had no keys or the wrist straps were missing. Just completely chaotic and disorganised. The place is so run down. It's in dire need of new management and a good clean up. Such a shame.

Positive experience: Looking very tired. The pool seems clean and there is always room to just swim in lanes. The gents disabled shower was broken - flow lever missing - when I was there; I'm told the ladies wasn't much better

Positive experience: Took my granddaughter last Wednesday, haven't been for years. Good facilities and a v friendly and helpful receptionist.

Curtis Glover 3 years ago

Negative experience: Awful place to go, extremely run down and tired. Staff are absolutely amazing but unfortunately there’s no investment from freedom leisure. Especially with the local competition you’d have thought they’d have made some sort of effort to compete however they have just chosen to raise their prices as more and more members have left, as a result they have priced themselves out of the market for the product they provide. AVOID ….

Positive experience: Great toddler pool! Classic council leisure centre feel, easy access lockers, communal showers and splash pool for little ones. Only downside is needing cash for the car park.

Sammie A 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Clean facilities with cleaning stations provided in the gym. Staff not always in the gym but easy to find someone at the front desk if needed. Swimming pool changing areas are usually fairly clean but not always perfect but what else can you expect when so many people visit every day because it’s such a great pool! Worth visiting with children or families, there’s a nice cafe here too. Solo swimming also good availability as swimming lanes are often open and separate from the open swimming side.

Fantastic experience: Love it here with work we take oul customers here and they have such a good time.

Dale Johnston 3 years ago

Negative experience: Staff do not answer the phone. On multiple occasions (during open hours) we have found it impossible to get through to the centre to book swimming sessions. You can let it ring for 5 minutes and nobody picks up. There is no option to book a swim session online, which must be the last swimming chain to offer this. Forces you to turn up in person, to find no space and a 30min wait. Such an archaic system.

Fantastic experience: Great center. Pool has fun and lanes areas plus big slides. There's also a gym.

Context81 3 years ago

Negative experience: If you go for a family swim that can’t be booked in advance, look forward to a 45 minute wait. If you go for the inflatables which is advertised as 12-4, they finish at 1.30. If you go for the slide which is advertised as 3 years and above and confirmed at reception, it is 5 years and above. If you go for the wave machine, get ready for big fun that lasts 2-3 minutes!
