Negative experience: I would not recommend this pure gym. I am avoiding a one star review because the changing rooms and cleanliness is great and I trained here myself for around a year. I also love the pure gym in Loughborough and Bournemouth town centre which I would train at sometimes However, I cannot stress enough how RUDE the staff can be at this pure gym, the two ladies that train here are lovely and one is a pretty good PT as well. My first complaint goes at the PT 'Jack' who was extremely rude to both me and my girlfriend when we were waiting for someone to finish on a machine he just instantly started setting up and when we told him we were waiting he was rude and told us too bad we should've spoken to the guy, I could visibly see that his client was uncomfortable. Although we should've said something there was no reason to be rude. The manager, unsure of name is also rude, he walks around like he owns the place yet all he does is complain if anyone brings a bag to the gym but then he's totally cool with leaving a belt wraps straps jumper whatever all lying on the floor. I understand pure gym has this policy but I have trained in a few and I had never been outed for having a small bag tucked away in the corner with some personal belongings, especially since they do not take responsibility for stolen items from lockers this is a stupid rule. To add to this I broke a finger training in this gym around a year ago and the manager just said "you should probably go home it will be fine" which led me to driving home and ignoring the pain until finding out I had shattered the bone to bits. If you want to train at this gym, go in unsociable hours and book in with the female PTs.

Fantastic experience: Great budget gym, lots of equipment, off peak times it’s great as it’s never too busy. Been going to this gym for over a year now, super happy with the staff and never had any issues.

Fantastic experience: Great selection of equipment
Negative experience: Mens changing rooms disgusting at 6am always dirty sinks toilets and floors needs proper cleaning.no toilet paper.staff dont care.when i complain they day the cleaner hasnt turned up! Its a disgrace .no standards.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym just over a year now and i cannot imagine going anywhere else. The gym is always clean and well looked after, there is rarely equipment out of order and there is just about any machine you could think of. The app is brilliant, it tracks your visits and allows you to see how busy your gym is. There are water points dotted and cleaning stations for the equipment. Really recommend!

Negative experience: Toilets always dirty and smelly, soap box broken and hasn't been fixed in 4 months (would take about 60 seconds to fix). WiFi works about 25% of the time. Busy at most times of the day. Go to a different gym

Negative experience: Never been a fan of this gym but unfortunately it’s in a convenient location for me. Recently been trying to get my friend in with me as I have plus membership. However, there’s never staff available to help and when you do press the help button nobody responds. So I’ve wasted two trips now trying to get myself and a friend in with no luck.

Positive experience: I've only been here once but I'm comparing this visit to The Gym Group which is my normal gym: PROS - Lots of machines and benches. You'll almost always have one available to go to. - Gym area is kept clean - Dumbbells go up in 2kg increments up to 50kg - Less strict about rules CONS - Changing room was a bit dirty - Benches feel too stiff and are a bit uncomfortable to use - Water fountain is slow (it takes a long time to refill a water bottle)

Positive experience: The gym is nice, they have a good space and a mix of equipment, but for me the worst thing over there is the male lavatory, which smells terrible everyday, certainly that system is rotten and nobody is taking care to resolve it, unfortunately.

Negative experience: Been going here since 2021, usually late in the week and in the evenings and the only good thing about this gym is its location because of the free parking. The air flow is awful at this gym. There's zero air conditioning and it is always stuffy. The women's toilets and shower room are horrendous. FILTHY. On the same level as unkept outdoor public toilets. Smells like something has died in there. Only three toilet stalls and sometimes one is out of use. The showers, also not hygienic or welcoming. Zero hangers to put your towel. No privacy. I see cleaners around but they can't be doing a good enough job if it's still this way after years. Some kind of air filter in the toilets seriously needs to be looked into. No phone signal and their wifi is unreliable, sometimes cannot connect at all. Limited cleaning stations which are often out of paper towels and sanitiser spray. Not a very big gym and very limited choice of machines. They need to invest in more of the machines that are the most used by people. You can be waiting around for a while to get on the one you want to use because there's only one of that machine. The music that is played out of their speakers far too loud, the bright white lighting, and the small crowded rooms are too distracting for a satisfying workout. Someone at the gym will read this review, respond with a generic message apologising and saying that they understand the importance of a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment and that they want to improve their services. No you clearly don't. You don't take on board any complaints, just look at the amount of reviews you have saying the same thing. You don't care. And no I do not want to talk about it further with you in your DMs either. So my review is just a warning to anyone looking to sign up to a membership here. Unless you want to pay £20 a month for a loud, crowded, dirty unpleasant gym experience. Cannot stand it anymore. We're looking into leaving this gym and going elsewhere.

Positive experience: Gym looking like a a bunch of toddlers have run through it today with plates, dumbbells and bars lying around all over the place. Send the lazy boys’ mothers in to tidy up seeing as they are completely incapable of doing it themselves. I feel sorry for the staff having to tidy up after all the big babies. Otherwise it’s a great gym!

Negative experience: Leaving this place after over 2 years of being a member. During this period of time I’ve been brining and carrying the gym bag with me on the floor and it’s never been a problem. But it is now. It’s a good place for people who are starting their gym journey, but for those who use a lot of equipment - this place may not work well.

Positive experience: PureGym Mallard Road is in a great location with free parking and many shops nearby. I found the cold water fountains very handy and the staff are always there to help. The gym can get VERY busy, making it hard to stick to a workout plan when everything is in use. During busy periods, large groups of people can use certain machines for 1hour+ making it unusable to anyone else. Some gym equipment can also be ‘out of use’ for very long periods like the leg extension machine. Overall, decent gym.

Positive experience: Great & handy gym being open 24/7 unfortunately not on Christmas Day when you might like a morning blast but that’s life. It’s pretty clean most of the time but there’s a lack of lockers there because members are allowed to use them as personal storage and most of them have padlocks on even when the gym is empty which is inconvenient.

Positive experience: Gym is great mostly, plenty of equipment and space when I got at 4-5am, tower park had the same issues when it was peak times with no equipment, luckily for me I am not able to go in peak times so always plenty of things to do/use, although every time I go in the women's changing rooms the smell from the sink drain is dreadful, it was the same at tower park when I used to go there, drains need cleaning out, just smell awful

Negative experience: Use the gym at night time. Constantly no tissue refills or spray bottles are constantly empty or broken so don't work. Which makes it hard for us gym Gower's to keep it tidy some clips and accessories are broken and not replaced on the down stairs cable machines. I go here as there is a good group of people who train at the gym. Cleaners - terrable and some but not all of the trainers are rude but generally not helpful. Again good atmosphere with the users and I would rate it over the triangle PG just a few rough edges need sorting out. AS A member if I see the above worked on I would really like to change my rating.

Negative experience: This company only cares about money way to many members so unless you go very early or very late you can't get on the machines or weights, but you can always get on the treadmills because theve got may more then what they need but way to little of everything else...an the toilets/changing rooms are a stinky mess much better gyms out there cancelled membership

Positive experience: Good Gym, however it would be nice if the A/Cs actually worked. Feels like a sauna after 5 minutes.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: I’ve been actively going to the gym for about a year now and it’s very disappointing. Had to go outside to write this as there is no service or Wi-Fi at this gym. Edit based on the reply below (the Wi-Fi won’t even connect and open the page where you can connect to it. Have tried restarting phone, forgetting the network and everything else. Also, have spoken to quite a few members and they are having the same issue. Clearly it’s your awful Wi-Fi rather than anything else). It’s very very dirty especially the bathrooms (and if this is how the girls one looks like I don’t even want to imagine the boys). Agree with all the reviews it’s too crowded most of the time and the gym is not designed to have that many people in at the same time. Honestly if they don’t sort out their Wi-Fi I’m leaving.

Negative experience: The gym is so dirty it seems like it has not been cleaned since it opened yes they have pushed a vacuum around but the machines are so disgusting and the changing room/shower area is vile if I could add pictures you would be shocked

Negative experience: I've been to this gym for over a year, it was ok, staff are nice, but now there are lots of kids, teenagers, they keep the equipments busy while they chat or stay on their phones. Today, i asked 2 kids how many sets they had left, was told 4-5, waited more than 20 min to use the equipment because they actualy decided to work more exercises despite the fact they saw me waiting, and i ended up without finishing my workout as i had to come home to my baby. Today it was the day when i decided i would rather pay more money but use a clean gym, with no kids who can't afford paying more just to come and chat (you should get the student discounts off peak, not when it's busy). Even when they have cleaners in the building, the changing rooms and toilets are still dirty, they only get mopped and not cleaned. Not recommend at all!

Negative experience: Dirty and non-working toilets. Poor quality of machines. Too crowded, especially children. The system does not work properly, starting from the application ending with WiFi. The air conditioning is not working properly. Thank you

Negative experience: Its a alright gym. Decent equipment and facilitates. Only problem is how overpopulated it is and especially with school kids who are just there for the fun of it. I used to go in the evenings, when it was really quite, but recently there has be 130+ what is just stupid for how small the gym is.

Positive experience: It gets way too busy weekdays for the size of it so unable to use anything. It's alright to use when it's quiet. Annoying in and out system. Too many people trying to come out as you try and get in, nearly took me 20mins.

Negative experience: The gym is ok, equipment in free weights area is alright there could be more however the upstairs machine selection is terrible especially compared to other pure gyms. Multiple of the same machine which is very poor anyway and not enough variety of machines. How many shoulder press machines do you need there is 3 and that not included any free weights. The changing rooms are disgusting. It’s probably not safe to even change in there most of the time?

Positive experience: I really enjoyed this gym but since their promotion aimed at student and kids that are still at school. It really is over subscribed students most the times I go. The changing rooms and showers could do with being cleaned more regularly and the equipment it pretty good if you can get on it. To many people sat on their phones instead of getting on with their exercises. If you are students getting 30% discount. Then you should be restricted to off peak times. It’s that simple.

Fantastic experience: I go to this gym as my regular, tried other commercial gyms around but this one has great staff despite being unstaffed on quiet hours. Its a 24 hour gym so its really of convenient for any schedule. Special thanks to Carlos and other staff who helped me recover a lost item of mine. Overall good gym.

Negative experience: The Gym area and machines were fine. The shower area / cubicles were disgusting. This is my fist month with PureGym. If the shower area is not vastly improved - this month will be my last. The photos do not really show how bad it was.........

Positive experience: The gym is not as good as tower park, the lay out is a bit all over the place so you can't plan your sets in good time because the equipment is dotted all over the place the lack of mirrors to help with your form is not great. The only reason I switched gyms is because I moved. However though its still a good place for a work out, and I'm sure I will get use to the layout.

Negative experience: One of the worst gyms I’ve been to. No sanitiser or towels to wipe the machines after yourself, weights scattered all over the gym, all the grips scattered everywhere and all damaged. The gym is dirty and not taken care of at all and there is definitely not enough equipment in there.

Negative experience: Sadly classes get cancelled last minute. Last night the scheduled instructor and then the cover instructor didn't show up. We were sat there waiting and ended up doing our own thing. Don't expect a phone signal as it's diabolical. Update. Another day and again another class cancelled last minute.

Negative experience: Equipment is decent. Set up is poor, not sure who designed the layout. Trainers spend 1 on 1's talking the whole time and hogging equipment. Will be switching back to Bournemouth Triangle asap. Very poor.

Positive experience: Great gym, new equipment and clean. You need air fresheners round the place especially near the changing rooms as it smells really bad of sweat and body odour at times. Also it could do with being slightly bigger with more weight equipment options.

Negative experience: Generally, friendly staff that are approachable with a variety of well-ran classes. Most clear issues for me, seem to be the lack of air con in the gym. Within minutes of training I am sweating beyond belief and partly that's due to my training. The other part, is that it seems the air con is turned off, or not to an appropriate setting for people to train properly in. The other issue is that equipment is often not positioned in a well thought-out manner. Any machine that requires an element of balance should face directly into a mirror. This is gym set-up 101. There is space for it, and, without impacting the conditioning zones upstairs and downstairs. The microphones also need to be set to an appropriate sensitivity or speakers in studios significantly reduced. For those of us with sensory issues, it is quite distressing and negatively impacts training. Upon mentioning this to someone, I was told to train at a different time of day, avoid the studio areas, or wear headphones. This potential resolve doesn't improve matters. Other than that, it has been kept a bit cleaner in recent weeks so I'm very pleased with that. Perhaps I'm being pedantic, but these are the most clear issues at the moment. It might just be me, but I have been asked to provide feedback, so there we go! Take it or leave it Edit: have unfortunately had to leave this gym due to unwarned and unnecessary disability access route being cancelled from my plan. I was told it was because I did not check behind me to see if other people snuck in under my access route. Not one person has ever got into the gym from my access behind me. Senseless and ridiculous at best. I had spinal fusion surgery and kept having problems accessing the gym. I have been given strict instructions not to twist excessively which is mandatory in order to fit through the turning doors. Studio noise is excessive and often disturbs my workout. I have noise-cancelling headphones but I just hear screeching from the classes which is grating to hear. I mentioned that mirror positioning was far too distant from where it was needed on the weightlifting platforms. The apparent assistant manager at the time Carlos decided to email me and tell me that I basically need to learn how to train and get on with it. These things have all been mentioned to management with nothing rectified. The responses from other members are often met with 'leave a note in the feedback box'. How about the staff members responding actually addressed these issues as they come in. The management whoever they currently are, have a non-tactile approach which cannot be met with logic. It's a shame as I used to enjoy training at this gym and seeing friends. Now, I have lost out on this enjoyable and sometimes social event because the managers are too arrogant to accept flaws within the gym itself. I did speak to head office about these matters and they were embarrassed that all this has happened. Nonetheless, too little, too late.

Negative experience: Fix your cable machines instead of concentrating on not allowing people to have bags, only lockers they have are upstairs so everyone will just have loads of items which doesn't really make sense Since opening is slowly getting worse with multiple machines out of order.

Positive experience: The gym is good and staff are nice but the maintenance of the machines is poor. There have been multiple times in recent weeks when a machine has broken and it has taken hours/days for an out of order sign to be put up, meaning people keep wasting their time trying to use machines that don't work. This is even after reporting the machine to staff. The upstairs pull-up machine still doesn't have a sign after about a week. Also it takes a long time for machines to get fixed and as it's all the machines I want to use that are broken, it's quite disruptive and frustrating. I would also strongly recommend getting another seated cable row - the machine is always busy and there should be at least 2 for a gym of this size.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: Wife keeps getting a problem with the door and no one in counter is ever there to help. The button on the left calls to no one, it’s like the staff just hides somewhere no one knows. It’s an alright gym, 0 star for staff

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling service. The app crashes every time I come. I asked for assistance once and was told the member of staff wanted to leave. Today I was told that the only free member of staff didn’t want to help me and that I should wait until a class finishes and my friend should just stand outside and wait until then. Totally disgusted

Negative experience: After over 12 months attending the gym unfortunately I have to say it has become a shambles hence my downgrade on my experience and stars, WiFi doesn't work, which would be fine if you different offer it as a free service, but you have an app with workout routines on it that can't be viewed as the WiFi is down.. I've been told it's due to the amount of people using it, I would then suggest changing provider as no other establishment has a problem with over 100 people connected!! The place is full of kids who hog machines in droves of 4-6 people and spend more time taking pictures for Instagram than working out..I appreciate Puregym will not care about the bad reviews looking at recent responses, but your "staff"that are also PT's will and are, losing business over your lack of attention to everyone's complaints, which will ultimately lead to an even worse service. I have just heard you have been turning away regular customers from mallard Park because the triangle gym in Bournemouth is flooded and you have tried to merge the two...it's an absolute shambles and I would suggest you offer direct contact details to discuss this?

Negative experience: Awful gym. One member of staff was so rude I walked out and requested my money back. As an older person who lacks confidence I was nervous going in and did not expect such a rude response from a member of staff. Just to make matters worse they are supposed to be dedicated to people who are middle aged wanting gym advice
