Fantastic experience: Great swim teachers for little ones

Negative experience: What tf is up with calling you. 3 calls and just running in circles choosing numbers only for it to eventually say the lines are closed. I just want to speak to someone ffs

Negative experience: Staff are lovely, however the swimming area was filthy. Not only do you walk filth into the pool, there is green slippy algae around the pool that needs a good scrub. The floats of the pool are breaking off and floating in the pool too. The worst bit was the the filthy toilets and the filthy changing room floor. I complained to the manager who gave me a free soft play voucher. We did not enjoy this experience and would not recommend nor go back again.

Fantastic experience: Took 20 Explorer Scouts towards end of the week for (bath) swim. Does what it says on tin decent pool for 50 minute session water was same colour as we found it! Thank you to the team there for safe, clean, fun session in pool

Fantastic experience: Polkyth is amazing. It's always clean, impeccable refurb, great cafe, lovely instructors and swim coaches, friendly.... I could go on. This place feels like a treat every time. It's helped me lose three stone and greatly improved my wellbeing. It's also a social enterprise with a wider social good. JOIN.

Fantastic experience: Gym swim classes activities for children bit of everything. My only gripe when you want to go some of the equipment the younger men in groups do seem to hover over multiple equipment and so it’s just not clear if it’s being used and they are quite intimidating in bulk I’d imagine for some people to ask if they are using. But they are friendly and if you smile and ask they are great but it’s the perception. I feel as if there could be a completely separate weight room too. For me having used multiple gyms this isn’t my top rated. But fantastic for which it offers. :)

Fantastic experience: Few questions l wanted to know about

Positive experience: The staff are very friendly and Adele who gave me my induction is just so lovely and approachable. The free weights area could be a lot bigger considering it's a leisure centre. The cafe could have more healthy options considering people go here to improve their mental and physical health. Something to consider as to me it doesn't make sense. Do a workout, eat unnutritious food? It's also a shame there isn't a scheme like snap fitness does where they pay for your first 2 hours of parking as it adds to the cost.

Positive experience: Lovely but a bit pricey

Positive experience: Went softplay, good selection, facilities good. You do have to pay to park. Tables and chairs needed cleaning but easy to watch your kids. Not overpriced, seemed to be able to stay for as long as you wanted

Fantastic experience: Great Leisure centre with amazing activities, which i am loving attending and i do hope more people will join this amazing centre not just for keeping active but also exercising can HELP our mental health.

Negative experience: Website clearly states there is a hydrotherapy pool...there is not...and if you want to go for a normal swim, best to go in and take a timetable as the website is not up to date on this either and seems to only accommodate walk in swimmers twice a week for an hour or 2. When I phone better they mis advised me also. Totally wasted trip with my little person.

Negative experience: Really outdated and dingy. A £40 a month gym membership would put this gym at the high-end range, but that is not what you get. The gym is small with too many cardio machines and not enough weights and most of the equipment seems cheap. If you happen to go late afternoon you will be sharing the very small gym with about 30 school kids, which is not fun! I've used the pool a few times and it feels like you will get verrucas just from looking at it. I am happy to pay a decent price for a membership but the facilities here don't match up to what is being charged. It very much seems like they are just taking people's money. Parking should be provided free if you are paying to use the facilities.

Positive experience: Visited for the soft play which was a small but fun setup. Reasonable price compared to others. Had a couple of good slides with the usual bits and bobs. Kept the kids happy for two hours to avoid the stormy weather outside. Noted as a future option when visiting next.

Fantastic experience: Really nice and clean

Negative experience: AVOID. Our booking was cancelled twice in a row (3rd time in total) due to over booking. The first time we received a generic email out of the blue confirming our booking was cancelled 3 hours before our time slot with no explanation as to why. The second time they waited until we arrived and tried to sign in at reception before informing us that they had once again double booked our slot so we would have to wait an hour if we wanted to use the hall. I requested a refund as I no longer wished to use a venue that was so badly organised and the receptionist played around with the computer for a few minutes and informed us that she had processed the refund and we would receive our money back in a few days. 2 weeks later I still have no refund so I made another refund request through the contact option on the website and was told that someone would get back to me shortly. That was 5 weeks ago and still no contact or money. I am unsure whether this centre is intentional trying to keep my money or if they are just incompetent but either way it is disgusting that they feel it ok to not only cancel/overbook slots that have been paid for, lie to customers faces and then ignore my attempts to chase up a refund in the hopes that I just give up and they can keep my money. We have now found another leisure centre that offers more time for less money and more importantly hasn't cancelled our booking at the last minute. I advise using Tregorrick Leisure centre instead of this place as it's only 6 minutes away and is actually trustworthy.

Fantastic experience: Cool place with great slides. My 2.5 year old loves it. Even just for an hour. A tad pricey but great fun. And it's very close to train station. Near ther aslo you can get another 30 mins play in a quite cute park with swings and carousel.

Positive experience: Used the pool. Not too crowded. Pity cafe was not open. Vending machines available though

Negative experience: Not worth 6 quid, used to be 2.50 somewhere us mums could get to easily and afford for our kids especially when it's such a small play area and so boring. Pay the extra couple quid for kids world instead

Fantastic experience: The Carlyon House is close to the St. Austell Leisure centre. The Cornwall Council office in St. Austell operates from the Carlyon House. The place is easily accessible. The staff members are welcoming.

Negative experience: Soft play wasn't available Cafe wasn't available Baby changing facilities were poorly thought out and dingey...

Positive experience: Nice friendly staff, loads of good equipment for the youngsters, sadly when we went yesterday there was litter all over the soft play, crisp wrappers, empty orange juice cartons, sweet wrappers and so on, obviously these things happen but it's also clear to see things aren't sterilised everyday All these people saying g they drove so amd so distance for it to be closed with no way of contacting them, they are stupid! You book online simple, only idiots would just arrive and complain that they didn't get what they want,

Negative experience: Arrived after driving 30 mins with three small children to find out the soft play was closed for a party. No direct phone number to call, no way to know that in advance. Please fix this as it was very disappointing for the children and stressful for the grown-ups.

Negative experience: Tried to visit soft play with a 4 and 2 years old only to find it was closed for a party. No phone contact available so no way of knowing in advance. Really poor service

Positive experience: Great people. Only 1 squat rack which doubles as a bench press and 1 deadlift platform. One member of staff is very awkward keeps leaving door open so gym is freezing! but apart from that, it’s a solid for beginners

Positive experience: The water is way too cold. The times for families to swim are also very sparse

Negative experience: Took my grandchildren to the soft play today, I was appalled that the Centre didn't see the need to have any heating on even though it was only 5degees outside. When I asked why I was told that because it was such a big space to heat they had decided not to bother!! It was absolutely freezing in the soft play area, bearing in mind it's for children upto the age of nine, and they weren't willing to do anything about it. When you consider how much they charge?! One thing is for sure they won't make any money because nobody will want to go there! Apparently the, what was a heated pool, isn't any more either, great!!!

Positive experience: Biggest frustration to me is I tried ringing the number which essentially is a St.Austell code and number but ended up being put through to the Better company that now owns Polkyth. I needed to speak to someone there. Plus the cafe doesn't accept cash. Cash is legal tender!

Positive experience: Great place to keep fit, a variety of different activities, easy to use app and booking. Parking permit for £9 for 3 months so no worrying about having enough change or checking the time.

Fantastic experience: The pool is pretty standard and a bit on the cooler side but the kids love it and always hard to get the out again. The swimming lessons offered have been a nice help and a good step in the right direction to get them to be confident in the water. Shower cubicles and big family changing rooms too!

Fantastic experience: Trying to get volleyball going again and the st austell team have been amazing! Its been so nice just to have people here me out and help me with wanting to get volleyball going there again. Staff have been super helpful and are pointing me in the right direction. I want to say a special thanks to a guy who i believe is called steven. He helped with a minor injury i had and there was another guy who took great care of me also:) steven also gave me ideas on how to get a club going and making things potentially happen again with volleyball. Thank you all. You all have been great ❤️

Positive experience: Was a good place to take my kids,for an hour, they enjoyed ,running around.

Positive experience: So busy that it’s impossible to get a decent work out anymore- not big enough for huge amount of people in the area. Have tried all different times of day and evening and it’s almost always the same. Shuts at 4 on weekends too, which is ridiculous when many people work weekends now. Have given up and cancelled membership, but now have to wait 20 days for that to happen! Waste of money. Given it 3 stars because what it has is good, just not enough of it or allowing too many people in at once.

Fantastic experience: Very good facility with an excellent online booking system. Well priced with a handy car park ticket scheme that is truly excellent value. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. Would it be nice if the showers were a little better? Of course but it costs a fraction of the local hotel pool membership so that's a small price to pay. Happy to recommend Returned recently after an absence and pleased to say it remains a great facility at a great price

Fantastic experience: Polite friendly staff. Always helpful! 3 badminton courts, trampolines, basketball and 5 aside footie, a well appointed Gym, a large soft play area and a swimming pool! They also run fitness and dance classes.

Positive experience: We went to the soft play area, its good and there is a good space for toddlers/ younger children. However £5.50 for an additional adult is quite expensive!

Fantastic experience: The water in the pool is at a cool but appropriate temperature. The staff are polite & the changing rooms are clean. I do Dance exercise classes here along with Pilates and core conditioning & legs bums tums, all are highly recommend & well instructed by the instructor (Jess). Joining is easy at the reception I got assistance from the lady serving. She was polite, didn't rush me & was on hand if I needed help. No complaints from me 5

Fantastic experience: I personally loved this place when I lived in the area. Swimming pool was a great size with 4 lanes plus free swim and deep corner area (3M if i remember correctly). My Sunday sessions were always the best. Yoga class used to be les by a lovely lady with really soothing and calm voice making you feel relaxed. Workout gym had plenty of cardio machines but free weights and machines area was small. There is a great hall for badminton, big group classes etc. And best of all was the price for swimming, fairly cheap. I only have good memories from this place.

Fantastic experience: 1st swimming this morning for 19 weeks, tad bit nervous, but no need to be. So well organised, one way system, socially distance changing facilities, which were being cleaned, while I was there. 2 wide lanes for fast and slow swimmers. So good for my mental health, I'm buzzing. Booked again for Wednesday and Friday. Thank you so much to all the staff for all your hardwork to enable us to enjoy again.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic. So clean, and really friendly staff. Good cheap food menu with choices for kids. Much better and cleaner than other pools we've been too. Also really appreciated that there was a sectioned off shallow part for the very little ones so they could swim in peace with some fun water jets. Great looking soft play too.
