Arun Leisure Centre

Negative experience: I swim in littlehampton wave all the time but have paid a visit it arun leisure tonight. The swimming pool is not clean and water is salty? The changing rooms are in a total mess and the floor looks like a toilet. The staff need to be more like littlehampton wave staff happy, friendly,and professional.

Positive experience: Looks good

Negative experience: One of the blonde /brunette worker abused his power by not allowing us to go on the astro but allowed his friends( about 7 different friends who dont work there).

Fantastic experience: Lovely pool, not too cold

Positive experience: First aqua aerobics class for me and it was great fun, felt very welcomed

Negative experience: Staff are miserable. Cheap swimming facilities but the cafe serves half a hotdog for £3 which was funny lol. We ordered 2 hotdogs and got a half each? What would happen to the other half if I ordered 1 hotdog?

Fantastic experience: Far away and wasted a years membership if anyone wants it ask me

Positive experience: The staff at the pool are always polite and helpful I'm a amputee and make full use of the fantastic disabled shower room and find these facilities second to none It would have been 5 stars if not for the slow maintenance for the building The automatic doors to enter the changing rooms have been broken for over a month I'm wheelchair bound and unable to enter without being accompanied or assisted

Negative experience: Used to be ok but they seem incapable of dealing with packs of feral kids causing mayhem and swearing loudly , really ruins it for families , thought they may have sorted this but they haven't the life guards try their best but are ignored and disrespected all the time it's only a matter of time until there is a serious incident

Fantastic experience: Very clean, staff all very nice. Nice atmosphere. I am very happy. Use only pool now as free for my age group! Bonus. Used to use all facilities when a dear friend paid my fee for helping her with shopping etc. now in care home. Used to be approx £42 monthly for full use. Love it here!

Fantastic experience: Played a football tournament here and it was organised so well and great space to have such an event. Can't wait to compete again next year.

Negative experience: Too cold water in big pool!!!

Negative experience: Too cold water in swimming pool and just one big room with shower and changing. All another rooms separate. A lot of times just 1 hair dryer works from 3. All another out of order and stuff don't put notice about it. You put money, dryer is not working and you can't get money back. Tables by swimming pool always dirty. Not recommend

Fantastic experience: Had a coffee after using the pool. Poppy in the cafe delivered excellent customer service, very happy and cheerful. Delightful experience, well be coming back

Positive experience: Good gym just too expensive. They should offer a just gym membership too

Positive experience: The aqua sessions are great but it's almost impossible to get through on the phone to book if you have the 12 for 10 prepaid option. I've tried 3 times this morning for over an hour but no one answers. The staff are lovely and do their best but with long queues it's not possible for them to answer the phone. Please can you dedicate a line for booking as its not possible to do it online either.

Fantastic experience: I use this centre a lot. I find it has everything I need. The staff are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They do their best to make your time there enjoyable. Keep up the good work.

Positive experience: Please could there be a facility for booking online when you have signed up for 12 for 10 deals. It always takes me at least half a dozen attempts to get through on the phone. I love the Aqua sessions and can miss out because I can't get through. I also feel sorry for the lovely staff who seem to have problems with the online system too.

Positive experience: frequent user of main pool and find pool staff pretty helpful. new changing area works well with good size changing cubicles, overall better than the wave at littlehampton. downside are the showers, at best luke warm, improvement needed here.

Positive experience: This lesiure center is great it has a wide range of facilities which is awesome theyve got everything from swimming pools to gyms and even some sports courts its a good place to have some fun or stay active now i have to admit some areas of the leisure center are a little bit outdated the equipment in the gym could use some modernization and a few of the facilities could benefit from some upgrades however despite that i still had always have good time here the staff were friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere was welcoming

Negative experience: Sat at the restaurant once watch so many people walk through the gate that staff decided to leave open and later met them at the gym these people did not swipe their card and went to the gym just like me yet when I do it they close the gate as soon as I am about to walk through, they ask me what am here for OTHER PEOPLE SIT NEXT TO ME IN THE GYM THAT I HAVE SEEN NOT SWIPE THEIR CARD CAUSE THEY WALKED IN BEFORE ME OR AFTER ME when the gate was open like I pay my bill in full every month I hate to bring race into this but the staff are very racist except for one person that works in the gym specifically not at the gate would not recommend other than for convenience and to upset racist people.

Positive experience: Much better after bit was refurbished however still no public acces for open swim before 6pm and small pool is only open in school hours Mon to Fri so pretty much not available for open acces at all.

Negative experience: refused my autistic child entry to the gym even though she has membership and is capable of using all the equipment on her own. waste of membership as she cannot go now and is too scared to knowing the staff belittled her.

Fantastic experience: Me and my best friend went on the slide and we wanted to do a competition so we asked the worker on the slide to host it he said yes his name was Freddie pls give him a raise for being so kind.. from harry and logan (freddy pls see this )

Fantastic experience: The refit in August 2023 had made a massive difference to the swimming experience here. New large and private changing rooms and proper shower cubicles with lockable doors are a vast improvement to what was there previously. Also new loos, which were much needed. I hope they can keep it looking this fresh. I think it's good value at £4.25 with my swimming membership.

Positive experience: We want to go swimming here but after hearing all the bad reviews have decided to try contact them to ask for times and prices, this in its own shows us what we wanted to know as have tried calling 2 days on a trot to have no one pick up, at all, I wouldn’t even know if the swimming pool is open or not and don’t want to drive down to find out !! Bad service right from the start

Positive experience: No air con in gym, There is only one place to top up your water and it's the slowest machine ever...... The Gymnasium needs a good refurb and for equipment to be always working. Also Laura Stennett's classes she has the highest followers and people travel all over for Body combat and Laura , ALC have 2 Les Mills licence's , I feel there could be more support and marketing for launches. She covered 2 classes last night Tuesday 12/11/2024 and the gymnasium was packed , so that speaks for itself.

Fantastic experience: I went to the pool this morning for only the second time since moving into the area. I have a mobility issue and used the small pool, this had to be closed due to an issue and we were all Offered the use of the big pool or money back. A member of Your staff could not have been more obliging with the offer of the hoist and made sure I got safety into the pool as the steps are not disabled friendly. I would also like to mention the lovely changing area and most importantly the well thought out disabled toilet, it is by far the best I have used without struggling to open a big heavy cumbersome door. My thanks once again to your thoughtful caring member of staff.

Negative experience: Would give it zero stars. Absolutely freezing cold swimming pool even for adults, let alone our children, both our children’s lips turned blue and wanted to get out - unenjoyable experience. Despite undergoing maintenance, the place is filthy - the carpets to the swimming pool look as though they’ve never been hoovered. Staff seem unbothered and uninterested in anything. Avoid and go elsewhere.

Negative experience: Worse experience ever! I took my daughter here yesterday evening for public free swim and I was so annoyed. I checked there website the night before and it stated one lane in use and the rest was available for public swim. On arrival after paying we was told we could only access pool via cafe and would need to walk alone the pool side to get into changing rooms. We then walked in to find multiple lanes in place and only a third of the pool available for public swim. I assumed as we was slightly early this would change. The toilet was constantly running and un-flushable the changing rooms where filthy. We then went into the pool area that was packed to point we only had space by the store. The pool was so cold that my five year olds lips turned dark blue in 5 minutes and with so little space we was unable to swim to warm up. I was then I nformed that the lesson's and swimming squad was there to stay. We got out of the pool after just 10 minutes and left. When I complained to reception staff they acted confused and called for a manager that didn't answer. We left and we will never return.

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool, currently doing maintenance so will be interesting to see what it's like when all done. Good showers. Staff were nice and helpful.

Negative experience: Very dirty changing rooms. Nappies all over the floor. This is hazard and should not be happening. We booked out first swimming lesson today so wondered like 2 lost sheeps with no guidence. When my 5 years old wanted to use a toiled he refused to touch the lid. Was so dirty. Shame,would be nice complex but hygiene is clearly an issue

Fantastic experience: Love Aqua aerobics at the leisure centre staff always friendly and ready to help if needed

Fantastic experience: The two members of staff who run the gym are excellent instructors and experienced in devising workout schedules, catering for those with medical conditions as well as those who haven't but want to train for different reasons. The coffee in the café bar downstairs is quality too.

Fantastic experience: A good and clean swimming club, good service, care and concern for children, and clean and wonderful water. We hope that its temperature is a little higher... I wish them more success and success.... Thank you

Negative experience: They don’t take swimming bookings online but NEVER pick up the phone on reception so you can’t book by telephone - I’ve tried multiple times. Very poor customer service.

Fantastic experience: The reception staff are incredibly helpful, very easy to talk to, and make great coffee. My children can't wait for swimming lessons, and we've never had a problem with reactions to the chlorine. Very reasonably priced too.

Positive experience: Only fault is the swimming pool changing rooms, definitely in need of a refurbishment. They truly are horrible. I live 5 minutes walk away and I mostly drive to the wave in Littlehampton now. Which is saying something with fuel costs being the way they are at the moment.

Fantastic experience: The Kids absolutely loved this play area, Jane was very helpful and pleasant really appreciate it... definitely worth going and we will be returning again soon

Negative experience: Not a fan... Very poor service gym membership for children are a joke not worth the £23 a month price as you are very unlikely to be able when you want as they do not have enough sessions to cover all the memberships.

Positive experience: Okay pool, changing area needs some attention as three flimsy plastic benches, that free roam as they please on the wet floor and can only accommodate two adults before getting very familiar with each is not what I would expect. But apart from that it's a okay pool for a evening dip.

Positive experience: Nice pool, although changing facilities seem a bit run down. Most locker keys are broken and can't be done up, and curtains missing from some changing cubicles.

Positive experience: Bring my son to soft play here, and it's so lovely. Perfect for him as it's not too big, and quite alot of the time it's just me and him there which is amazing

Negative experience: Swimming instructors are great and the kids love the lessons. Changing rooms are squalid and showers haven’t been working properly for weeks now. Desperately needs a proper refurbishment and a deep clean. Staff are all lovely and helpful, but the swimming facilities are pretty bad. If it wasn’t for the lessons I’d definitely not come here.

Fantastic experience: Always a lovely weekly experience, great staff, nice facilities and just so pleasant. I take my daughter for lessons and her teacher is brilliant!! Only down side (but not enough to drop a star), while in the teaching pool if the door is opened you feel the chill. But not enough to be a problem. Great monthly price for lesson and this includes any extra swims for her.

Fantastic experience: I came to arun leisure centre for a lovely swim one day and I was struggling and panicking in the water as I cannot swim properly because I'm still learning at the age of 16 and a young man who was called Toby came and rescued me, I feel safe coming back here again one day knowing there is staff like him.

Negative experience: Takes a while to get in as many people que at reception and is not an easy process. And many more. Overall I think the price is too high for the service but there are some classes that I enjoy.

Positive experience: It's the Leisure Centre so you can just pay and go although prices are punchy if you aren't a member. For some reason they don't publish membership rates on line; they want to speak to you for some reason. The facilities are good as is the range of classes. Pool is good size.

Fantastic experience: I've finally got back into the heart of fitness with les mills bodypump 3 days per week in the air conditioned fitness studio and not only the studio is air conditioned , the gym and the spinning bike classes are also air conditioned too by Samsung Air conditioning units too. But above all I am a valued member of the fitness community having been awarded member of the month in April 2018 & got a month's free membership. Above all health and fitness is very much important to us from swimming ‍♂️ lessons for the youngest members, to day camp , and spin bike classes and everything in between Arun leisure centre has it all.

Fantastic experience: Take my baby son there he loves splashing about in the teaching pool

Positive experience: The building is alright however it needs a lot of work doing. For example the men’s changing rooms don’t even have cubicles. Which is pretty poor for today. And some parts need refurbishing. And the slide wasn’t working. At least try to give people a good representation.

Positive experience: It is great to be able to go back to Arun Leisure. My first Aqua Aerobics class since March and I loved it. Not so good was that they don't warn you you can't enter the Centre until 5 minutes before the class so we had to socially distanced queue in the rain. Not pleasant. And meant class had to start late to get everyone who had pre-booked, or many would have missed the class start. All the arrangements in place offer social distancing except in the pool itself where the exercises given meant we sometimes bunched up which was a big odd. No showers available in changing rooms post class.

Fantastic experience: I swim 3 times a week. Well organised in the current climate. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. With membership it works out very reasonable as well.

Negative experience: Unfriendly, rude, unprofessional. Website had an issue with our booking but we were made to feel like it was our fault. We booked for a certain time and instead were told to come back two hours later, no empathy or apology. Staff very abrupt and unpleasant. Under 2's should be free but yet we were charged on website adult price. Staff member simply said "I don't know". No willingness to go the extra mile and find out for us, clearly missed that day of customer service training. Also dirty, unhygienic and not even told to take our shoes off before going in the changing area! Would not use again and certainly would not recommend.
