Radisson Blu Hotel, Bristol: Opinions
Positive experience: Very conveniently located for city centre nights out
Fantastic experience: Here for a Christmas stay four days of bliss,a beautiful room with fantastic views, great location,so clean, great check in,I was greeted by Ivy a new member of staff, who was so polite and professional a great asset to the hotel,in all highly recommended to others, take advantage of the special offers in 2025,Happy New Year to the staff
Positive experience: Very goood place if you want to visit the city centre. Close to everything and lovely staff.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place to stay, rooms are large and airy. The bed is massive and v comfortable. The breakfast is very good indeed! Superb location, we will be back!
Positive experience: One member of staff available at peak check out, this would be ok at Fawlty towers but not at a city center business hotel.
Positive experience: Great view from the room but it smelled a bit "drainy ". Staff informed but was told it was due to wind direction and excessive rain.
Positive experience: Good location and great service. Breakfast was good too.
Negative experience: Three friends and I stayed at this hotel for three nights this past week, it was a distressing experience. My room was dark, grubby and the carpet was appalling, filthy, - stained- and more bleach than carpet in the entrance and bathroom area, the room was absolutely nothing as per the promotional photos. What made the experience even more upsetting was the attitude of the reception staff, as if to say 'tough', that's your lot! I asked to see the manager several times to voice my complaint, in the three days stay she was not available, that is not acceptable or professional. They will dispute my complaint by saying I was offered a room on a separate floor, I doubt they will say why this was not possible. The four of us all had incorrect final bills which took forever to resolve. We were all charged c£140 per night plus £13.90 per breakfast we would rate it as a £65. per night. All in all it was a ghastly stay and if we had not paid in advance we would have moved elsewhere.
Negative experience: For £177+ a night for single occupancy I was expecting a room that looked less dated. Clean, but shabby with tired decoration and furniture. Towels very crispy and hard, not pleasant to use at all. No working TV, I had to get them to come up to the room to try to fix it. They only tried new batteries in the remote and when that didn't work, no alternative solution available so I was stuck with no entertainment all evening. Breakfast was ok, same as all other breakfast buffets. The later you go down for breakfast, the older, colder and more congealed the food is. The selection is ok, but with limited vegetarian, vegan or GF options. Ok Hotel but would not stay there again.
Fantastic experience: Really good stay, massive comfy bed Good WiFi Tea/coffee and iron in room Could be more light! Could be plug sockets by bed Spacious room Bar in foyer
Negative experience: Sadly this was not up to standard at all! Check in was very slow and clunky. I had checked in online so expected to just pick up a key, but ended up having to wait in a long queue like everybody else - what is the point of having an online check-in if it make no difference? The whole building is in dire need of a refit. Lobby area and rooms are very dated. I was given the disabled room for no reason at all, which at least was spacious, but it the worst night's sleep I have had in a hotel in many a year. The bed was two single shoved (badly) together and was lumpy and uncomfortable. Walls so thin you can hear any movement around you and air con that is not really fit for purpose. Breakfast was fine, but nothing more. Served with a scowl. NOT up to the normal Radisson standard!
Fantastic experience: Best views in Brizzle and really comfortable, clean rooms with great facilities
Negative experience: Stay elsewhere I would like to tell the experience my partner and I had staying at this hotel. The blows get even lower after you checkout. We stayed in this hotel, the night of a fire. It wasn't a positive experience from checkin to this day. We get that stuff happens, but if you have a business that positioned in the hospitality, perhaps train your staff , particularly your after service staff, that's the industry they are in. We are a couple that had resided in Northern England for many years and decided to return home to Australia. This involved us doing a "goodbye tour" which lasted for about 3 months while we saw a lot of the country before we returned to Australia. We stayed at many Radisson blu's along the way and this was by far the worst and it wasn't due to the hotel fire. From checkin, we we're told our carspace that we reserved was no longer available and I had to transport all our worldly goods from our car to our room, about a mile away, which was a decent amount as there wasn't a place to set-down in front of the hotel. Mistakes happen, we get that. My partner, who was waiting for a back operation was annoyed, but understood, another unnecessary and exorbitant cost to our accommodation. We'd reserved a space so I could take all our luggage to the room, by myself. We get to the room, which was knackered and shrouded in darkness. Once we opened the curtains, a lovely view appeared. Until the time of the fire, the hotel was rather uneventful, which was appreciated. When the fire arose, we were evacuated by the hotel manager, while rather understandably hostile, did a great job getting us all out. We assembled in the evacuation zone and about 100 people were there, many "fans" too. We were told to go to a nearby hotel, where we were given refreshments and told to wait for further instructions. This all unfolded in the late evening. The receiving hotel was gracious, and accommodated us well for several hours. When it was time for us all to return to the hotel, as directed by the Radisson Blu staff, we were left outside in the rain with the police for close to an hour while the staff continued to check the hotel was safe for entry. The hostility that was met by at least 10 guests was unsafe and we questioned our safety standing there. I get that the hotel can take bookings from whoever, but, one guest was clearly on methadone and needed their medication, older alcoholics kicking off with the police as to when they could resume their schedule and another stating their didn't care their room was on fire as they're entitled to stay there as they'd paid for it. It was a totally unsafe environment for people to be at that point. People were about to kick off. We used the stairs to return to our room. The fire alarms were still going off for several hours after our return. Sleep wasn't exactly possible that night. The following day came for us to checkout. We were given no information as to what had transpired or any gestures of good will. A couple in front of us were given a 20% discount on the spot and felt the need to tell us about it, which, we heard from the staff member. We were offered nothing, no explanation of even an apology, not that we'd asked for anything at that point. We enquired as to what happened with the fire and we were told that they couldn't talk about it, absolutely egregious, brushing it over like it never happened. After having to transport all our luggage back to the car, I was indeed unimpressed with the hotel. My partner who made the booking, reached out to the hotel with hopes of receiving a discount. He was met by an out of office that said they will take 5 days to respond as they're simply too busy. By this point, I couldn't have cared less. What an insult to injury. Upon response from the alleged busy person, they told us they would offer us nothing and we were basically made out to be liars, even though, we heard from a from desk team member that a discount would be applied. We paid full price for a smoke smelling and alarm riddled room we couldn't really use.
Positive experience: Stayed here for one night. Room was spacious but nothing much of a view. Thermostat would not turn on or off so at times I was cold and at times hot in the room. The sink was so slow draining and seemed to have a leak and the toilet was slow to flush so seems to be a plumbing issue. Amenities such as free water and things in room good. Ordered a baileys in bar and always served us a minimum 50 as a measure but guy only applied 25. Had to explain to him 50 is usual as standard size. Breakfast variety was good but a lot of the hot food was lukewarm and no fried eggs etc. Everything including having a tea and coffee was self service which I didn’t expect from a 4 star hotel. Location good but found a lot of noise going on till nearly 5am from street outside.
Negative experience: Just came back from a weekend break here. The hotel is in a great position and has secure parking. Although our room was of a good size, tge standard was poor. No fridge, the sink was broken ( we couldn't let the water back out) toilet seat broken, no proper shower (just the old fashioned hand held rinsing your hair with a hose type) crappy pillows and finally our 2 measly tea bags and milk not replaced after night 1. So pretty poor all round.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, great location. Staff (especially Yusita who checked us in) listened to our specific needs as a touring party & was most helpful & courteous. Would stay again!
Positive experience: No hot water available from shower :( Great location, nice breakfast, pleasant staff
Fantastic experience: Good hotel with paid parking.. all shops nearby.
Fantastic experience: We stayed here over the weekend after visiting London. It was in a great location next to amazing food, bars and transport so made our stay so easy. The beds were super comfy and the staff were lovely. Buffet breakfast was also amazing would def stay here again.
Fantastic experience: Amazing stay. The staff were lovely, the breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. The location was right in the centre of things but wasn’t loud from the outside. The rooms were spacious and clean and very modern. With the bed giving me the best sleep in a hotel ever!!! Would stay again
Positive experience: Comfy rooms with decent large windows. Equipped with hair dryer, iron pod, safe locker, large TV. Big enough study tables. Morning breakfast is worthy .
Positive experience: The hotel seems a bit outdated but still quite OK. Rooms are big. Comfy bed. Good water pressure and relatively quiet. Breakfast is good. Stringency of check-in a bit annoying but hey, many hotels do enforce it draconically. Location: prime for city centre. All and all, good experience and would come back again for sure.
Fantastic experience: Nice hotel in Bristol centre! Great views on Cathedral and Cabot Tower. Good, but a bit monotonous breakfasts...
Positive experience: Carpet hadn't been shampoo... in months No microwave in the building No fridge in rooms
Positive experience: The staff are warm, the rooms are more than reasonable for the cost but the real star of the show is the location, which is slap bang in the middle of town.
Positive experience: The rooms are somewhat outdated and show signs of wear and tear. However, the bed was very comfortable. The hotel certainly has beautiful views because of its height. Breakfast was excellent. Parking is at the rear of the hotel!! When traveling by car, you best check your arrival route!
Positive experience: The hotel certainly doesn't add anything aesthetically pleasing to the town centre around Broad Quay - it's a massive tower! Good points: =========== - Clean room and bathroom, cleaned discreetly and efficiently every day. - Very comfortable bed - Spacious room Slightly annoying points: ==================== - No power sockets or USB charging sockets either side of bed - Bathroom mirror too far away from sink to do close-up things like floss teeth or shave - Only a shower attachment on a hose, instead of a nice rainfall showerhead - Odd bench/sofa thing directly below TV shelf that wasn't really a seat nor was it really a luggage rack. A small sofa would have been a much nicer touch - View from 9th floor was mostly of a rather ugly building next door - just a narrow glimpse of the harbour was visible. Bad points: ========= - Clean towels every day but they all smelled very odd, as if they'd either been left to dry near a kitchen, or tumble dried to death in a drier that needed cleaning. They smelled a bit like gravy! - Only one coffee machine in the whole dining area meant long wait to get one halfway through my breakfast, during which time my table got cleared away and someone tried to sit there - Only two lifts serving all the floors - long waits for lifts during busy moments.
Fantastic experience: Rooms are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very easy to access and close to many of the city's most interesting places to visit.
Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful stay at Radisson in Bristol. Our room was on the 12th floor and had a beautiful view. Room was big, clean with a nice bathroom. The reception staff went above and beyond especially Mikaela helped us a lot! Overall, we had a great experience and will return in December.
Positive experience: Room was ok, apart from looking worn and a whole in the carpet is never a good sign. Checking out too ages as we had a early check out, so the person on the desk literally had no clue what to do
Positive experience: I was staying with my parent for approx 3 weeks. The room view was looking at the harbour which was beautiful and the room itself was very spacious. The staff were very friendly too. However , house cleaning was horrible . By the end of the first week , my asthma was horrible as dust was flying everywhere and you could wipe it off the surface with your finger . Surfaces are not wiped and the mug we drank coffee in was not replaced for three days.We also only recieved water bottles at the end of our stay. Overall the experience was not horrible however if you’re a germaphobe or have asthma or allergies , I would not recommend staying here.
Fantastic experience: Excellent hotel. Staff all extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms excellent with everything you need. Location perfect for centre of Bristol. Cannot fault anything.
Fantastic experience: Great service from Mikaela Dimova ! What a service level :-) From the selection of the room untill great tips for restaurants and places to visit. That's what hospitality is all about ! We will be back !
Negative experience: Bad, bad, bad, old room, dirty, you need to jump if you want to get a shower, they don´t give complaints sheet of paper, Maria, the recepcionist was very very good, the bed dirty, etc.
Positive experience: Great central location. Friendly check-in staff. There is some on site parking which isn't clear on the website. Very limited however but useful if you have a disability. Ring and ask. Rooms are large and comfortable with good aircon. Four star not five as carpet has seen better days.
Positive experience: Room was clean and tidy. Shower was advertised as walk in but was over bath. My wife has mobility problems so that was a no no. Gluten free breakfast turned out to be two slices of pre packaged bread. Very poor. The only bright spark was Mikaela in reception who was very helpful.
Fantastic experience: The Radisson was our over night stay destination for a mate's stag. It's very central for bars, clubs and restaurants. I shared a double room which was only £60 each, the room was just what we needed, very comfy beds plus it was nice and quiet.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel and and absolutely lovely experience. SARA at reception very kindly accommodated my request of an early check in Aswell a nice room with a view of the city.
Positive experience: Great location for a brand I use often and like very much. My room was a basic twin, however the view from the 16th floor to the river was amazing. I arrived earlier than check in time but was able to use the facilities to continue working. The beds were comfortable and the room came with a Nespresso machine and free bottled water, though the air conditioning does appear to do a minimal job at cooling the room on a hot day. (Several other comments were made on this subject) The overall room was pleasant and comfortable although the carpet did look somewhat worn and stained in a few places. (Doesn't help being beige) The bathroom also had complimentary soap, shampoo etc. I didn't use the restaurant or breakfast however I'm sure they would be up to the Radisson high standard. One piece of advice is to reserve parking in advance as they have limited underground space . All on all a great location and a clean, friendly and modern hotel.
Negative experience: Bed bugs, avoid!! I stayed for two nights and ended up with bites all over my body. I was told that it was investigated and no bed bugs were found, but they can hide very well and the bites stopped when returned home and I did not get any during the day when I was outside of the hotel. I had to quarantine everything I brought with me and was not offered any compensation.
Positive experience: Lovely one night stay. Fab corner room with stunning views. Staff lovely. Breakfast reasonable quality and price. Not the most soulful hotel but a lovely, comfy place to stay.
Positive experience: Lovely view from the 12th floor with the perk of 2 views if you manage to get a corner room. The hallways come across as a bit dated, but the breakfast and lobby are temporary and more modern. Very spacious room and bathroom. Definitely missed some plugs near the bed, glad I always bring an extension lead.
Fantastic experience: Really good location and the staff are so friendly! There’s also a small amount of parking which was a good price, something that’s hard to come by in Bristol. The rooms really vary in quality so I’d say they’re in the process of updating them but it’s all really clean and tidy so can’t complain!
Positive experience: Rooms are as described in other reviews, musty, in desperate need of a refurb & not enough plugs. If you're used to Radisson hotels, this may have the name but the rooms are way off that level. Service upon arrival was disappointing, also the room card frequently stopped working so I had to keep getting a new one throughout the stay. Also breakfast is self serve unlike other Radisson hotels. Location is great, very central.
Fantastic experience: I strongly recommend this hotel for both vacations and business trips. The staff is welcoming and very friendly. The location is very convenient, as it’s located close to the most vibrant area of the city. Also, as there are different bus stops just outside the main entrance, the commute to other areas is easy. The breakfast is very good.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff bed was wonderful room was a bit dated but what a lovely hotel
Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bristol city centre, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel's prime location makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the city, but what truly sets it apart is the outstanding level of service. The staff at Radisson Blu were both professional and incredibly friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. From the warm greeting at check-in to the attentive assistance throughout my stay, every interaction was marked by genuine hospitality and care. The room was immaculate, well-appointed, and offered stunning views of the city. I also appreciated the modern amenities and the attention to detail in the decor. Overall, my stay at Radisson Blu in Bristol city centre was nothing short of delightful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect blend of professionalism and friendly service in a central location.
Positive experience: Gen Z won’t stay here, due to a lack of sockets by the bedside, which is criminal in 2024. Staff very friendly. Rooms a little dated. Breakfast is good apart from the croissants which are always a bit stale tasting.
Fantastic experience: Always nice to be in the hotel. Rooms are a decent size and clean as you would expect in a 4-star place. The gym is available 24/7. It is situated right in the centre with a great view of the town. One of the best things in the hotel is the breakfast. Always stocked buffet with plenty of continental and English dish selection. And lastly, the staff, as Always was nice and helpful. Always a pleasure to visit.
Positive experience: Decent room, bathtub and view. Suggestion to hotel: 1. Missing Wall shower, the hand shower hits sharp with high flow. 2. Keep electric sockets close to bed and table. They were very far and had to ask for extension cable from reception. 3. Lights are dim and all are yellow. Keep white light for working at the desk. Overall good stay.
Positive experience: Superb situation in centre of Bristol. Good rooms with lots of space a little tired in need on renovation such as walkin showers.
Fantastic experience: Lovely hotel, in the perfect City centre location. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms, and excellent buffet breakfast. Will definitely stay here again.
Negative experience: The one star is a bit harsh as this is in regards to one staff member. 99% of the staff are lovely and the rooms / facilities were great, location is better than any in Bristol! Hold tight because this is a story about about my experience with one staff member. Me and my friend got back late to the hotel, maybe 1 or 2am? We were just playing around a little bit in the main lobby, nothing serious, didn’t hit anything, nor damage anything, nor make loud noises, we weren’t being an inconvenience to anyone, partly because there was NO ONE around. All of a sudden this extremely angry small blonde man came out of no where and started accusing me of things I had not done. He was extremely uncooperative, very unprofessional and quite frankly just utterly rude and deluded. He told me I had to leave multiple times to which I replied no as I’ve done nothing wrong and all my belongings were in the hotel room and that he should watch the CCTV. He said if I did not leave he would call the police, he picked up the phone and started dialling! Me and my friend could not believe it, managed to talk him out of it because it would have been a waste of everyone’s time as nothing had happened. He stated my friend could stay and I couldn’t which was bizarre. Maybe it was because I had a black eye from rugby? Not sure, all I know is he did not like me at all. He then called security over who threatened to kick me out but then the security guard recognised I wasn’t the angry, insane, deluded one and just stood there in silence. During our conversation, he referred to me as mate multiple times, as soon as I called him mate he got offended and demanded I stopped calling him that as ‘I am not your mate’ but then kept calling me mate? This is the most EXTREME part, he asked for our room number which we gave him and he then started frantically typing keys into the computer and replied “GoOd lUcK gEtTiNg iNTo YoUr rOom’s!!! ” the most insane and unprofessional encounter I’ve had in a while. He stated he locked our rooms? He hadn’t, it was all a bluff. After about 20mins of this angry little (European? Maybe Dutch? Not sure) individual going off on one, he eventually left. Another (very pleasant) staff member smiled and said “you guys will be good to go to your room now”. I looked at him and the security guard, we all smiled with a mutual agreement that the blonde angry weird fella was INSANE. I saw this individual the next couple nights, he wouldn’t look at me and when I greeted him and he would reply with one word not lifting his head up from the computer screen. Maybe he was angry because he should have been in the lobby and wasn’t doing his job? Maybe he has short man syndrome? What I can say is I’ve NEVER experienced customer service like this. Genuinely think this guy didn’t go to hotel school and his mums name is Karen. Horrible experience, how he has a job in hospitality is absolutely beyond me. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk x
Positive experience: Smack bang in the centre of Bristol.. 10th floor with great views. Restaurant on the 7th floor with panoramic views was a great idea... breakfast could've been better but dinner was very good. Lovely helpful staff too
Fantastic experience: On arrival were given an upgrade to a superior harbour view room. You could see many of the sights of Bristol from sitting on the bed! Sime furniture looking a little tired. Great staff, brought us up a lovely cake for our anniversary. Fantastic, central location
Positive experience: Rooms are ancient and carpet looks like was put down in the 70s. Fridge wasn't working so baby food went off. They couldn't print an invoice. Said they're email, a week later I chased and nothing. Top floor views are awesome. Bar and breakfast staff were excellent. Reception staff also really good and solved issues fast.
Positive experience: Damn nice Hotel, only here for a few weeks but good location to visit stores and get the train from the station. Awesome coffee and hot shower, will recommend to others visiting Bristol. FW.
Negative experience: Not one member of staff at this truly terrible hotel had a clue what they were doing. I booked the room asking for allergy free bedding, on check in they told us this had been carried out. But they hadn't, they then lied to us that they were going to change it, 2 hours later, we were still waiting and in the end they offered us a single duvet cover, we had a king size bed in the room. We gave up. Truly awful.
Negative experience: Was very disappointed to find room 700 had a revolving door and our room didn't . Cookies at reception where a nice touch , and the large cat with the furry chest on arrival in reception was beautiful. 3.5/10
Fantastic experience: We stayed here again to go to the Theatre, just across the road. Lovely clean large room and bathroom. Parked in car park.
Positive experience: Good location for a theatre visit to stay over night with friends. It’s clean and quiet enough to have a decent sleep so I will book here again.
Positive experience: Not one to leave reviews but I just have to mention this. To start with the positives, the location is great, staff are friendly & the buffet service was a treat! The shower in the room had a broken button, clearly a maintenance issue but it did not bother me much since I only spent 15 minutes of my day in the shower, however, not up to 4-star standard. But what really bothered me was the blood-stained linen & the torn bedsheet, I spoke to the lovely receptionist about this issue & offered to call a manager, I was in a rush so I emailed them instead, it has not been several days & no response, which leaves me to share my negative experience. As an industry professional & background in hotel management, I know exactly how these issues are meant to be handled & the way this case was handled is very disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Lovely room and a fantastic view. We had the best weekend away this hotel was so clean and staff very friendly.
Negative experience: Radisson Blu normally has a good reputation this one inBristol not worth the supposed 4 Stars they have Needs an urgent Refurbishment!!! Room basic & old furniture Dirty table with marks Toilet not flushing properly! No sympathy saying fully booked which I know isn’t true! See pics
Positive experience: Great location for central Bristol. Within a few minutes walk of mist areas. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean, just looking a bit tired - and that was a suite which should be the best room. Limited plug sockets and none near bed.
Negative experience: Would never use Radisson hotel group again for business or leisure. From time of booking with central reservations to arrive in at the hotel appalling service. Having booked the hotel for a weekend away, they completely got my name wrong. Having spelt my email address five times to central reservation. They still couldn’t understand it. We arrived for a weekend away, having booked a restaurant and theatre, unfortunately we were delayed to the restaurant. On arrival 17 people stood in the queue to check in with 2 receptionists. 30 minutes later I’m told they hadn’t got room to have our cars which she could see had been pre booked in.so asked us to park in a NCP car park only five minute walk the receptionist says.20 minutes away and £24.50 each car! They agreed to pay for the NCP but spoilt the whole weekend.
Fantastic experience: I spent almost 30 days in this place & it is such a cozy comfortable place to be in with all the vibes & really helpful staff. It is placed in the centre of Bristol, the location is perfectly apt. The rooms are spacious with a beautiful city as well as a harbour view. Its just an amazing experience. I loved the spread of the breakfast menu with the orders which can be done instantly from the live kitchen. They also provide cookies near reception which is super yum. The cleaning staff cleans the rooms perfectly. It almost felt like home when I stayed for 30 days, one of the most recommended places.
Negative experience: Room good, breakfast good. However, reception is not so great asking for something so simple became so time-consuming, unnecessary and complicated.
Positive experience: Conveniently placed in the centre of Bristol, a modern and comfortable hotel. Excellent service, I took my wife for a romantic weekend and took the supplement for the bottle of champagne and rose petals on the bed and it worked a treat. Rooms are clean and spacious, the view over the harbour and the cityscape is stunning. The reason I didn't give a 5th star was that the parking is through a neighbouring multistorey car park, which is narrow, and expensive (the hotel doesn't have its own facilities). The breakfast was a bit disappointing for the hotel standing.
Negative experience: I feel absolutely appalled with the disgraceful service I have just received. I’m a support worker supporting an extremely challenging young lady, who desperately needed the toilet as she had problems with her bowels. They refused her the right to use their toilet and were extremely discriminatory against her. In a result to this it caused an awful lot escalation and made her feel very disheartened and upset. As a support worker this makes our job very difficult as we have to de-escalate the situation and then find another place to go to the toilet before an accident was to happen. There needs to be a change in this as it is absolutely horrific to be turned away especially when people have disabilities and are desperate! I will not ever be supporting hotels and other businesses that turns away people with disabilities who just need a bit more understanding. And to add to this not only did they say no, they were extremely rude about it!
Fantastic experience: This, for my wife and I is the perfect place to stay in Bristol...it's right next to the quays, breakfast is excellent..the rooms are clean and warm...a nice selection of tea, coffee machine...iron and board available ..the bathroom is lovely ..staff are helpful and professional ..
Positive experience: I would say we have a conference there today and it all went well. The only down side was a gentleman in reception. He was unhappy and his response was less thank friendly. What a shame!
Fantastic experience: First time at a Radisson Blu and was quite pleased with everything. The room was very clean, all amenities were available. Staff were very pleasant and overall a night stay.
Positive experience: I heard of this chain about 2 years ago, nearly went to your Hotel in Glasgow but location was not right . You really need to do something regarding your communication to guests when they arrive, was not made clear when i arrived when breakfast was, and when i complained we were taken to an area near the bar, where soon after coffee was brought for me and my friend which was not hot, and some pastries and that was it!!!! We had Dinner at the restaurant, i ordered dessert which took like 25 minutes to arrive i mean how pathetic is that? Why the bar was not manned all the time beats me, how about getting a drink? like do you want our money ? Also i was not told about the other entrance/exit ? I ordered an accessible room due to my mobility issues, why is there no fridge even a small one, you have a safe which i did not need but you claim to be 4 star, but i disagree. where the kettle was there was sachets for tea, coffee/chocolate but no biscuits , very very basic . The tv should be bigger and 2, should be mounted WHY? last year i bought myself a Samsung 43 inch 4k television, our tv not mounted no guide, looked very old and i would guess 24 inches . The bathroom is in the wrong place instead of near the bed, should be near the door. Guess what ? i could not use the shower because it was too small and i need to take the walker in with me, so the walker goes by the divider, so if i wanna sit down i cannot because theres not enough room, and you think these rooms are adequate , wake up people what about someone who is in a Wheelchair i shudder to think, nooooo they would say the bathroom is too small. Why is there a space in the corner of the bathroom (507) like who designed this room? cos whoever it was has no clue over peoples needs, oh by the way where are we supposed to put our toiletries when we arriveAlmost enough hand rails except big gap between shower and wash basin. Oh by the way if the Duty Manager thought i believed his excuse for the gap in the bathroom, Where was the Actual plug hole for the wash basin was it missing or ? i actually felt fobbed off, OVERPRICED, UNDERSTAFFED, LACKS COMMUNICATION, theres nothing in the room regarding breakfast, restaurant/bar openings, and where to go locally from the other entrance, i wish i stayed somewhere else better priced and a more bigger bathroom, where can i go for a partial refund ?
Fantastic experience: Great hotel with a great view from the 16th floor, great selection for breakfast and helpful friendly staff. I will definitely be staying here next time I am in Bristol!
Fantastic experience: Had a 1 night stay in November for a trip to Bristol. Great location, friendly team and right next to a supermarket. Can't fault it. Decent ninth floor room, a little grubby in places but that could be age related.
Positive experience: One of the cheaper hotels, and so I didn't have very high expectations, there was no view on our 6th floor room which is ok. But there were some questionable stains on the seat, one of the lamps was broken. Check in was not smooth due to IT issues and then the cards stopped working after only one night. Soap and water wasn't replenished for the second night
Positive experience: Fantastic view location superb few signs of wear in room . If going by car parking expensive up to £25 fir 24 hours at nearest car park .breakfast Fantastic worth the extra £12.50 pp pre book as £17 on day disappointed with housekeeping didn't replenish teas and coffees water . Reception made a mess of charging and seemed to have no idea ,contacting hotel was terrible call center in Dublin was via the Philippines had no idea .
Fantastic experience: Amazing and comfy as always one of the ladies on reception were dead lovely last night too. Not a fan of that back door not being in use during the night though as we got dropped off there in our taxi and sent round the other way instead of just opening the door for us to come in that way. P.s. please bring the old coffee that you used to use, it was THE best
Positive experience: Paid just over £200 for 1 night with breakfast, £18 to park at the NCP half a mile away. Booked a Superior room.... Wardrobe door kept banging the room door hinge. No mirror by table/desk to do hair and make up :(, pretty basic room... 2 positives Bed was comfy Air con For the price I expected more Breakfast was average, nothing special. The staff may as well have been automated, no personalities! When we checked out, a person had a room booked for that evening but was told she couldn't check in until after 3, she tried to ask about earlier check in but, unhelpful staff said she can come back but if it's not ready it's not ready! Computer said no! Might as well be automated, no help, no assistance, unsure if they were actually human useless!
Negative experience: My worst experience at my favourite hotel. The bedroom window was broken which meant it could not be shut and their maintenance team had bolted wooded planks around the window so they knew it was broken. Woken up at 3am since main bus stop was across the road. Noise was unreal.
Fantastic experience: The hotel is ideally situated but the area outside of it is, in part, a bit grim. For some reason the hallways leading to rooms were really hot. The Restaurant was so hot I had to leave. It doesn't need to be that warm. My air-con control panel was broken when I arrived. I reported it, and within an hour it was replaced. I had a great view on the 12th floor. The hotel was very clean, not just 'clean'. Breakfast choice was impressively plentiful, with someone for everyone. I went for the cooked breakfast and it was superb. It was noticeable how many times they changed certain receptacles because they had been out too long, even if they were not empty, so as to keep choices fresh. It's a five minute hop from Bristol Temple Meads station and a quiet drop-off location outside the hotel - on the other side of the building meaning easy drop-off and collection but still very centrally located. A definite thumbs up from me and we would stay again. Pictures, the room and the view from it.
Positive experience: The hotel rooms feel tired, but the location is pretty good. Try and get a higher floor (9+) otherwise your view will likely be restricted. My colleagues first room was very poor (even using a twin bed pushed together to try to make a double), thankfully, they were able to change rooms and get something a little better.
Positive experience: The evening food menu was a disappointment. The rooms, breakfast, and location are all spot on. Excellent city view from my room on the 14th floor. There are lots of other places to eat in the evening, so you'd be better to head out rather than relying on their limited menu.
Negative experience: Really poor response to a traumatic nights sleep when a guest on our floor decided to kick off after coming back at 3:45am. No compensation offered as ‘not our problem’ it was the worst experience in 35 years of staying in Radisson hotels. Will never stay with them again.
Positive experience: Excellent breakfast. Great central location. Had a couple of issues with my room key (one failed, was was cancelled early!) but overall a good place to stay. Clean and efficiently run. A little impersonal but would stay again. Very tall and easy to find. Don’t watch towering inferno before your stay.
Fantastic experience: First time we've stayed at a Radisson Blu and I've got to say we were very pleased. Our room was on the 15th floor with a city view, lovely spacious room with tea tray and a coffee machine. Great bathroom. Very good breakfast (included) with everything you could want even a gluten free section. The hotel is perfectly positioned for the city centre ..only draw back there is no parking however there is a multi storey car park (Trench street) only a few minutes walk. We will definitely stay there again.
Negative experience: We wanted to explore one of the Radisson Hotels so as to make a change from our usually preferred group we have booked with for years. We wanted to take what we receive up in experience, even if it cost more. Firstly, the taxi dropped me off around the back. As I entered the door one of the paper bags I carrying broke with the contents spilling put everywhere. I hoped not to get in the way of anyone possibly exiting or entering, but that wasn't an issue and no one was around to assist. Check in was backed up, once I was in the room, I settled and the room was ok. The Hotel has an old feeling, possibly in need of a post covid renovation. On the second night I finally settled asleep, only to be woken up by the fire alarm, blaring down the whole corridor and above my bed. I went to reception to find out what the problem was as people from other rooms were saying it was a false alarm. Staff said it was a false alarm due to a drunk person pressing the button. This false alarm went on for half an hour. I asked them if it was possible to mute it? They said they were waiting for a maintenance team member to come. From where they could not say and how long they also could not say. I then asked why they didn't mite it themselves, to which they replied they weren't sure it was a false alarm! To which I replied that if it was actually a fire, by now, half an hour later we would all be burnt . The staff on duty were untrained and in capable. A fire alarm going off in your room doesn't just wake you, it startles you. I could not settle properly. Then in the morning I engaged in a polite conversation, the team on duty were a new ream, they were overly protective of the night shift staff and almost aggressive in their demeanor, except for the young man I spoke to. We were offered a discount for our stay. But I feel the whole night should have been credited or more. It wasn't about the incident of someone pressing the button, but more the appalling lack of management. A shocking experience. On departure the Sainsbury Quick Shop downstairs also had a fire alarm. The staff locked up and stood outside waiting for Fire Assistance. It too seemed like a false alarm and was all connected to the Raddison building. I thought the UK took fires and fire alarm's seriously?
Negative experience: I want to share my unfortunate experience at this hotel to alert fellow travelers. Regrettably, my stay was marred by the theft of my belongings and the complete lack of consideration from the staff and management of the establishment. During my stay, I fell victim to a theft in my room where someone took all my valuable possessions, leaving behind only those of little worth. When I reported the theft to the hotel staff, their reaction was indifferent, showing little empathy towards my situation. The managers were particularly disappointing. Despite my efforts to find a resolution and receive compensation, they did not take my issue seriously and only returned half of my belongings, the ones with less value. They made no attempt to conduct a thorough investigation into the theft or take measures to prevent it from happening again. Faced with this impasse, I had to take matters into my own hands and turn to local authorities. I reported the theft to the police, hoping they can find a solution to this unacceptable situation. In conclusion, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Not only do thefts seem to be a recurring issue, but the unprofessionalism of the staff and the indifferent attitude of the management towards a serious problem make this experience nothing short of a nightmare.
Positive experience: Lovely hotel with comfortable room. Great location for the Hippodrome Theatre, directly across the road. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant time. We booked a good room for a romantic stay and were given a chocolate brownie each, presented beautifully, with chocolate hearts! Thank you.
Positive experience: The service, location, view from the room were all tremendous however this is one of the most dated and poorly equipped Radisson Blu’s I’ve stayed at - no minibar, early closing bar downstairs, dated lobby but I suppose the lower price compared to other hotels does reflect that. I wouldn’t mind paying more if they refurbished the interior a bit more and built out more hotel facilities but overall a pleasant stay.
Positive experience: I recently stayed at this Radisson, and I was no more surprised or disappointed than I have been in many of the Radissons I have stayed in in the past. In short, the hotel chain is a brand that can be best decribed as, "needs some upgrades" and this is represented in every one I have stayed in. There were a few positives to my stay, there were also several aspects that left me feeling frustrated given most are easy fixes if a little consideration to the guest experience was involved. Let's start with the good: the bed was spacious and comfortable, the shower had excellent water pressure and temperature, and the bathroom was decently refurbished. There were however, a number of frustrating issues that cpuld do with some attention. First and foremost is the furnishings. Throughout the room they were worn and in need of replacement, everything was just, old, and FELT old. Right down to the carpets that despite my seeing the Henry the Hoover from housekeeping in the hallway, still looked (and felt) dirty and outdated. The lack of plug or charging points near the bed was inconvenient and inexplicable in this day and age. Additionally, the placement of the bathroom door opening against the bath/shower was puzzling, as it prevented the bath mat from being placed on the floor. The anti-condensation screen on the bathroom mirror was poorly positioned, making it practically useless for anyone taller than 5'8. The cracked sink, instead of being replaced, was only filled in, further contributing to the room's dated appearance. The bathroom lighting was insufficient for tasks like shaving or applying makeup. And the in-room safe had worn-out numbers that could easily be replaced. As a rewards member, I contacted the hotel 90 minutes prior to my arrival to inquire about early check-in (one of my benefits). Unfortunately, the staff member I spoke to seemed strangely eager to inform me that check-in was only available from 3pm. It felt like it was the bright spark to her day to tell me that. It was only when I explicitly mentioned my loyalty status, that early check-in was finally offered. And upon arrival, I had to once again mention my premium membership to the same eager member of staff, in order to receive the early check-in, which was a bit tedious. With that said, it's worth noting that when I called the front desk to request a better room with a view, a different receptionist was very helpful and promptly arranged a room upgrade. They even quickly switched the key cards when I returned to the reception, despite being engaged in a meandering conversation with another guest. The bed itself was comfortable, although a bit low to the ground. Noise was a minor concern, as sounds from the cleaners' room adjacent to mine (1404) could be heard, along with intermittent clicking noises from the ceiling above the bed. While these noises didn't bother me too much as a deep sleeper, they could be a nuisance for lighter sleepers. Overall, this hotel has potential, but it requires some attention to details and slight improvements in customer service especially for loyalty members. With a few adjustments and updates, it could offer a more enjoyable experience for guests I think.
Positive experience: The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's just across the road from The Hippodrome & practically on the harbourside/waterfront with bus stops right outside the hotel entrance. We stayed here for a gig at the Lloyds Amphitheatre & it was about an 8 minute walk which was ideal. There's no carpark at the hotel but there is an NCP multi-storey in the adjacent street (by the Bristol Hotel) which was £26.95 for 24 hours. The reception & bar area of the Radisson are very modern & stylish. However, check-in wasn't particularly efficient even though we had already checked-in via the link sent by the hotel. We initially asked if our room was available when we arrived at about 1.50pm. Admittedly check-in is from 3pm so we understood when we were told it wasn't ready & accepted the offer to store our luggage there whilst we went out to get some food. We then returned at literally 2 minutes to 3pm to try again. Reception tried to ring housekeeping but couldn't get an answer so we were sent away again. When we went back at 3.45pm we were finally able to get the key to our room, although that took 10 minutes or so of waiting whilst we were checked in & our payment was processed. I'm not sure what the purpose of checking in online is as it wasn't any quicker or easier than not doing so. Our twin room was on the 3rd floor &, although it was clean & spacious & had the usual facilities such as a tv, aircon, free wifi, tea & coffee making facilities etc, it was very dated & the furniture was old fashioned & scruffy. We paid £167 for a Saturday night stay without breakfast & felt that we were paying for the location rather than the quality of the accommodation. The standard of the rooms doesn't reflect the high price to stay here. The staff were adequate, not particularly welcoming or enthusiastic. I've stayed in much better city centre hotels for a lot less money. If it was cheaper I'd stay here again purely for the location but would look elsewhere first.
Positive experience: Ideal location if staying downtown Bristol. Within walking distance to pretty much everything. The hotel looks alright, the room was not real clean (see photo of coffee stained wall) and didn't feel like it was of any quality (see photo of damaged table). Also, no on-site parking. They'll validate for a shady garage, 10 minutes away. The Marriott across the water at least has on-site parking if you plan to be in and out offten.
Positive experience: Lovely sized rooms, very clean, great position for middle of Bristol. Buffet breakfast great value. Would stay again.
Positive experience: Great location. Decent view. Room a bit tired, could hear noise from a bar around the corner (harbourside view rooms are probably better for the view and noise).
Fantastic experience: It was my 2nd stay hear at Radisson Blu lovley hotel Very nice friendly staff, room was lovely clean and tidy. the beds was very comfortable nice soft we had a Grate night sleep.. we will definitely be returning soon. Thank you blue.
Positive experience: Service is great and it's a nice hotel, but; - How does a 4 star hotel in 2023 not have power sockets near the bed? -Fridge is not cold - Towel warmer is not hot
Positive experience: Nice hotel is part of a reliable chain. The room was fine and service good. Had a few issues with TV and key cards that were rectified. A lot of noise till 4.00am on Saturday night made for a restless nights sleep. This is one of the main reason for choosing a hotel so hence why marked down. But overall usually a good choice.
