Positive experience: I’ve been using this PureGym for a year now and all things considered, I think it’s a pretty decent gym. There’s pros and cons but for me the positives outweigh the negatives. The price is obviously a major factor considering I paid nearly £70 for my previous gym and it genuinely wasn’t as good. There’s a decent equipment selection and the staff are lovely. Yes, it can get VERY busy at peak times, evenings more so than mornings which is super frustrating when you’re on a time limit, but unless you’re paying £250 a month for an exclusive gym, don’t they all? I’ve definitely noticed a considerable amount of waste like used paper towels, empty bottles and cans being left on the floor more recently but this just makes me disappointed with the lack of respect by other members rather than an issue with the gym itself. I understand that there are cleaners but come on, to leave your own dirty towels or plastic bottles on the floor is just bummy behaviour. This may just be me but my biggest annoyance is that they don’t have a seated hamstring curl machine - it drives me nuts! The laying hamstring machine is no where near as good. All in all, I think it’s a pretty decent gym, 4 stars :)

Fantastic experience: Parking is perfect, staff are superb and friendly. Most of the gym users are friendly too and often share weights or kit during sets. Hideously busy at times but the app gives you an idea of when to go and when to avoid….have just notched up 150 visits for 2024…

Negative experience: Inconvenient location, weird layout (why are the treadmills facing a blank wall?!) not enough classes… the fact it’s cheap is probably the best part about this gym.

Negative experience: Upgrade is completed, but the gym is now overcrowded and there are not enough machines to support us customers, you need to limit the numbers and don't accept anymore new members!

Negative experience: Good gym. Could use better cleaning but for the cost not bad. Would give 5* but why have the cleaning stations been removed? Bit of a downgrade in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: Hi everyone, I found these earbuds yesterday 9 of November at the gym. Please contact me through my website "Babulis Photography" to arrange a pick. I bring the serial number of the earbuds which you can find on your phone app, or any photo you have with this case, so I know are yours. If nobody will contact me in 30 days I will bring these to a charity. Thanks
Positive experience: If the most important thing for you is the price (which is great) and a place to workout every now and then, then it's for you. If you want to build a weekly workout routine it's going to be a pain as the only real downtimes where you can do your workout quickly are before 7am or after 11pm, and the capacity tracker proves this point.

Positive experience: Started going here and I must admit, I enjoy it, however there are some issues. During the unstaffed hours the gym is often very messy, and equipment is left lying around The lockers don’t have a lock for you to use, you have to bring your own The treadmills face the wall which is a very unusual choice. There are two that have a slight view of the window, however you have to turn your head for it and one of which was broken. There is no heavy bag, which is an odd choice given boxing is one of the best forms of cardio There is no air con Other than this, the gym is great, and if any of my issues are ever fixed I’ll be more than happy to upgrade to 4 or 5 stars. The location is great, as it’s open 24 hours and served by a night bus that serves central and south Croydon, making it accessible to all, and there is a wheelchair accessible entrance too.

Negative experience: Over crowded with no real down times. The price is too high for how unavailable equipment is. Plus there is always deals on the encourage new members making the problem worse. There isn't enough plates so unable to load machines enough especially when all machines are in use.

Negative experience: Look you cannot argue with the price at £22 compared to most other gyms charging up to £120 a month. However the BIG issue is the fact with a great price comes the cost of always being busy. There are not enough machines and you really have to change routines as no equipment available. Even at 6am on a Sunday morning can be waiting. If I had money I would go somewhere else but I don't so suits my needs.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to PureGym for over a year now. Although big with a large amount of members I have found it always has something for everyone. Classes are really good, I enjoy Razvam and Amish’s classes with them pushing you but also supporting you when needed. Classes around 5:30 are perfect as you have time to finish work and then come to the gym, getting a healthy lifestyle. With the updated changing rooms having cubicles to change in as an added extra. Zumba is a great class too. Sometimes slightly dirty in the studio but with the fast paced climate and people in and out this is expect. Having a lovely large carpark and free parking is ideal. Would highly recommend to family and friends.

Negative experience: Have been using Purley pure gym for a couple of years but since it has been revamped, it has gone down hill. I stopped going here a month ago because it’s always a mess, used it this morning wow it’s worse these pics are just from the free weights area dirty tissues, drink bottles everywhere, weights all over the gym and the new drinks machine doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned ever, the manager really needs to sort this out

Positive experience: This place is always busy, always messy and generally too hot. It’s recently had a bit of an overhaul which makes it a bit nicer and it smells less. What it makes up for is that it’s cheap, super cheap and it’s 24 hours. The app isn’t bad and helps plan around the busy times as well. But it’s cheap.

Negative experience: This place can’t even afford air conditioning.
Hi Aydin, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We have recently made slight changes to this area, looking at improving energy efficiency. This is both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. Fantastic experience: Sam is the HERO of PureGym Purley, ABSOLUTE LEGEND, FITNESS WIZARD, ANGEL ON EARTH, brought me from rock-bottom, major bummer low to SOARING HEIGHTS of JOY AND BLISSFUL ECSTASY. He won't accept a pan of brownies as thanks, even if I make black bean brownies with honey instead of sugar, because he is "eating healthy at the moment" so please, please, please corporate overlords, see this and heed my plea to jack up his wage accordingly to reflect commensurate value for his service to this gym and this community. I would suggest something adequate to afford a large house on a farm with space for many ponies and puppies to roam freely. Even this may not be enough to do Sam justice for the work he did today. BLESS UP SAM!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I have been training with Warren Beale and the experience has been amazing and transformative .From the start , Warren took time to understand my fitness goals , current abilities and any limitations I have . His approach has made all the difference in my fitness journey .There has been days when I feel less motivated but Warrens positive attitude and encouragement keep me going . Training with Warren has been a game changer for me and I have gained a newfound confidence in my fitness journey .

Positive experience: Gym location and being 24/7 is good for me. However, machines have been out of order and too busy due to which I cancelled some time back. I appreciate you reply and the fact that machines do get broken but if not fixed for 2 month plus that is not a good sign as a fitness business, specially as that was only one in the gym for thighs. And with all this prices gone up.

Negative experience: Having only recently moved to the area, I wanted a gym close to home - so chose PureGym. I’ve found the gym far too small for the amount of people who have memberships. Often every single piece of equipment is in use so you can’t get a proper workout in and a half hour workout could take an hour! While it’s good to see live numbers of users in the gym, I don’t really want to go at 4am to avoid the crowds.

Negative experience: Who is the designer of this PRISON CAMP!!!! Seriously who designed this ??? I had my first run today and it was the biggest TORTURE OF MY LIFE , FACING A WALL LIKE A PRISONER. Why you can't turn them on the other side so runners have some space Infront of their eyes. Or at least place few TV monitors so is something to see not PLAIN WALL !!! UNBELIEVABLE

Positive experience: Great updated venue, plenty of exercise classes, they get busy but it’s straightforward to book a place. Amanfi’s classes are brilliant and all instructors are good, my only complaint is the level of mould building up on walls and in particular in the changing areas - I’m told management are aware and working on it!

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to Tony's class for years (possibly about 5/6 yrs) and every time he pushes me to my limit! His classes bring all ages which I love the diversity. It becomes a gym community and good vibes! My only complaint is there's not enough classes of his running as I can't always make the evening for work commitments. Morning/daytime would be helpful In regards to the gym itself, the Aircon! It needs to be on and at its highest at all times because it's a health hazard. Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this gym since the day it opened! I absolutely love Tony's classes and the vibe and community it has. I wish the studio was bigger and had better air con . There should be more classes like this on through the week with more times available.

Fantastic experience: Tony's classes are epic. The vibe and the connection in the class is great. I've been doing them for thr last year and it's lively which motivates me more. I love that it's busy cos it really gets the energy going and it's great to see all types of fitness levels working hard together. Wish he could do more classes and earlier ones too like a 6.30am! Or more classes like this in the week before or after work.

Fantastic experience: Very cheap for what it us....very big as budget gyms go.....clean as alot of people do use the gym. Spin room... studio....dedicated weights area and cardio machines. Resistance machines may be busy from time to time, but overall, it is an excellent option considering when Nuffield charges over £70 for an outdated gym and better gym is soooo small and uninspiring.

Positive experience: Great gym now the refurbishment has happened, patrons have the worst gym etiquette of any gym I have set foot in. It's constantly an absolute mess. The other day people were rolling dumbbells across the floor across where I was working out to save them carrying them to the racks. This guys just left these 1 m from the store

Positive experience: Love the classes on a Tuesday evening but as classes overlap there is a massive issue with parking. My friend had to go home last week because of this and I have had to park on a road ages away tonight. There were at least 8 cars looking for spaces in car park and no free spaces

Fantastic experience: Circuits with Warren is a great work out. All exercises explained and demonstrated well structured class and full body work out. Warren is a great teacher he goes round and ensures your doing correctly and helps those in need.

Fantastic experience: Really like the place! Good vibes, helpful team members, very many equipments. I like the layout of the place, you get to see others working out and trying to be their best. Fantastic experience: Very clean, well maintained. People are generally quite friendly and usually offer to share machines between sets if they've got a way to go. Appreciate being able to use the different spaces, including the studio when there's no class. Downside is that it can get really busy during lunch and peak after work hours, including a busy (but free) car park. Outside of these times it's much quieter and more manageable. We generally go outside of peak hours and don't tend to wait much. Overall a positive member experience since joining and great value.

Fantastic experience: A newly renovated gym. The layout is good and the positioning makes sense. Plenty of classes to choose from. Free car park (register your car at check in). Spacious changing rooms with lockers. The gym is busy but there is a lot of equipment and machinery you can use so not a problem, if anything this gives motivation. One thing I'll say is space to stretch but you're able to use the studio when there are no classes. Please don't forget to clean your workout area clean and put away weights once finished.

Negative experience: I've been a regular gym-goer for over a decade now, and I must say, my experience at Pure Gym Purley has left me deeply disappointed. While the facility boasts a spacious layout and a commendable free weight section, it's unfortunately marred by severe overcrowding issues. Weekday evenings at this gym are reminiscent of Dante's Inferno, with hordes of people vying for limited equipment and space. It's not just busy; it's overwhelmingly packed to the point where it's nearly impossible to get in a decent workout without constant interruptions. Despite its affordability, the constant struggle for equipment and the chaotic atmosphere have rendered my membership at Pure Gym Purley virtually worthless. From now on, I'll be going to the Pure Gym in Croydon, it is further for me to travel, but offers a more manageable environment and a superior overall experience. If you value your sanity and actually want to enjoy your workouts, I strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs.

Positive experience: I just want to update customers driving their cars to Puregym at Purley. You now need to enter your car registration number (part) when you arrive inside the gym. The car park operator requests this otherwise your going to be charged for parking.
Negative experience: Recent refit freshened up the gym but unless you want to double or even triple the time of your usual workout this gym isn't for you. Every machine is always taken and hogged and you're left wandering around trying to be the first one to dibs something. If there were any other nearer gyms I would probably go elsewhere so they're lucky in that sense. Obviously no limit on new signups vs capacity.

Positive experience: Over all is a good gym , however the music is horrible. There is no motivation to work out with Kiss fm hits and pure gym ads . I wish someone will look into it and play some motivation gym music as there are hundreds of playlist on YouTube.

Negative experience: Went there this morning, went to buy water from the vending machine and their wasn't any available. Also the feels like a construction site with construction workers rewiring the place at 5.30am

Negative experience: Generally poor in all regards, few cleaning stations and they've removed most over the last 2 years changing rooms generally unkempt, literally only one member of staff has even said hello to me in the years I've been coming here. Machines regularly out of order and most in a poor state. If this wasn't local I would not use it at all.

Positive experience: Nice food shame about the location but you probably wouldn't take a date there like I did
Negative experience: Poor! I know an upgrade is coming soon, but these are not the conditions any gym never should be training on. Respectfully you should be letting all purley home gym members have a month off free whilst you get yourselves together. Several machines out of action caused congestion. And where are the mat racks The upgrade better be high quality.

If you will not use the temporary access please get in touch with Member Services through email or a DM. Staff undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers and/or parts but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns or suggestions about equipment you can speak to staff, to the Gym Manager in the gym or use the feedback box which is regularly reviewed. Positive experience: Been using this gym for quite a few years in the early morning. The gym is small and can get very busy but you just have to work around it with different exercises. The people in this gym and the staff are great but the facilities let it down. The women’s showers are often out or order, no hot water or the doors don’t close properly. Issues with the toilets which stink and the sanitary bins are overflowing. Things inside the changing rooms don’t get fixed quickly but they are however pretty quick with getting machines fixed. It is a reasonable price so you get what you pay for.

Positive experience: Cheap as chips and Everything you need but too busy.. struggle to get a bench or squat racks etc before 11pm unless a Friday or Saturday night.

Positive experience: It is busy and crowded, but I understand that it isn't the fault of the authorities. However, there is still a lack of equipment for example no T bar rows and other very useful machines.

Positive experience: I has it busy days and it's quiet times. Can't fault the app to gain entry nor the free water station. You have to pay for sports water as an add on to your membership but its good. Most equipment is available. The free weights and weight machines are sometimes busy but it's not such a long wait for them

Positive experience: Nice gym. My only complaint is that there are only 3 benches for Bench Press and only 1 platform for deadlifting. Meanwhile, there are loads of unused cardio bikes and treadmills.
