Positive experience: Excellent well equipped gym...but paid £10 as a pay as you go customer to use the gym and unable to access the mens changing rooms...I was told that's for premium members only! I think that's absolutely rubbish. I need to at least get a shower for that price!!

Negative experience: I rang up the front desk to enquire about the sauna opening times and was told to check website. Website does not provide this info hence me ringing up. Rude woman on phone told me if I can't be bothered to check website then she can't help, told me info was right in front of her. I asked her to just read it out then, refused to. I then asked if i could speak to another member of staff and then had the phone put down on me. I was in no way rude or loud. Totally unprofessional and was constantly being called "babe" so someone must know who I am talking about.

Fantastic experience: We visited the leisure centre recently for a birthday party. The party was located in the pool and we had use of the big inflatable. Everyone at the party had a great time. All of the staff were well organised and helpful, especially Amy who was one of the lifeguards. Amy went over and above to help encourage and support my daughter when she was apprehensive about getting in the pool. My daughter recently had surgery and she has a GJ tube. This is the first time she has been swimming, post surgery. She was terrified, to say the least. Amy made her feel at comfort and at ease. She gave her the confidence and encouragement to pass the swim test and continued to support her verbally throughout her time in the pool. Amy you’re amazing! You really made a huge impact on the outcome of our day. You turned a negative experience into a positive. Thank you!

Positive experience: Would love to give 5 stars however women’s showers smell really bad and usually dirty. Swimming pool showers are located awkwardly right in-front of the pools so hesitate on showering there. Overall though lovely gym with amazing staff. Class instructors are amazing too

Negative experience: You are not able to view your child at swimming lessons, no viewing for the main pool at all. No space to drop off and collect children at the start and end of sessions, everyone squashed into the bottleneck at the small shower area. Only one hour slots for free swim at the weekend, should be allowed longer for kids fitness and fun. For the gym there are hardly any classes during the daytime, only two on Tuesday? 43 of the classes are virtual cycling so they are pressing play on the DVD for you, why would you pay for no instructor. The classes are only 30 minutes long, very short. Only 3 classes on sat and only 2 on Sunday? Very poor choice when you want to train at the weekend.

Negative experience: I have called in 4 occasions to speak to the manager, and on each occasion I was told I will be getting a call back which has yet to happen. Discusting customer service, will never recommend to anyone. Gym/weight area is the size of my bedroom and also over crowded by young teens sitting on the phones. appalling especially the manager

Negative experience: Musty smell in the steam room "no scent", no fresh water fountain for dehydration outside. However, the sauna and steam room are very hot.

Negative experience: I’m a member of the leisure centre from the day they opened. Used to be good and clean. After covid this place is dirty and smells like mould and blocked pipes. Toilets are dirty and smells like mould. Changing rooms dirty. The cycling room looks like they never clean. This place became so filthy.

Positive experience: Never any disabled parking spaces in the evening, people with no badges park there and there is no policing of this.

Positive experience: Quick self check in, very clean, good machines. Missing a couple of weight machines that could really help training. However in the main it’s great. Friendly staff on the first floor in the main gym area. Nice atmosphere and equipment always available even during busy times.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Tayler as a pool teacher for children. My son has been taking swimming lessons with Tayler for the past few months, and the progress he has made is truly impressive. Tayler's teaching style is engaging and supportive, making each lesson enjoyable for my son. Tayler has a natural ability to connect with kids, creating a comfortable and safe learning environment. My son's confidence in the water has grown tremendously under Tayler's guidance. Not only does Tayler possess excellent technical knowledge and skills, but also the patience and understanding needed to work with young learners. I am grateful for Tayler's dedication and commitment to helping my son become a stronger swimmer.

Our leisurezone doesnt do a swim and steam/sauna option as a membership so Waltham abbey was the best option. And really enjoying it. 3 months plus now and still loving it. Staff friendly and so are the people using the leisure centre. Harlows loss my gain

Negative experience: Please add more machines in the gym and longer opening hours, and more public swimming times

Positive experience: Second time in the the pools and my sons lips turn purple withing the hour, the pool is freezing

Positive experience: Love this leisure centre, staff are super friendly and it’s always in a clean state. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the very limited sauna and steam room availability during the week.

Positive experience: The pool area is really clean and big. Staff is very professional and friendly. The only thing that makes us stopping going there is both pools are cold and my baby has purple lips and hands in the pool. In general really good place

Fantastic experience: Travel 30 mins to get there but so much better than Southbury Leisure centre which Enfield council have left to become run down. No lockers, filthy pool. Disgrace. Waltham Abbey is well run

Negative experience: After years of membership, I asked for a new card as mine broke over time, I was told there was a £5 charge and when I said that we had been members for years and have never lost it before a young girl called Amy, full of attitude said that was how it was and if I didn't like it, well that's up to me, my fiance and I went for a work out and tried having a swim and steam after only to find out they shut! Again, we asked Amy why she hadn't informed us on it closing only to be told we should have known whilst smirking. Absolutely disgusting service, and they have now lost two members. Management didn't care at all about losing us at all, so if you're thinking about joining, there are much better places around that care about their members and have staff with a brain.

Fantastic experience: My son swims at the leisure center and its not close to my house but I prefer to go here as the swim staff are excellent and push thr kids to learn. They are professional and keep you informed along the way. The changing rooms are always clean.

Positive experience: Great place BUT the water of the swimming pool was TOO cold (my one year and a half daughter was purple because of how cold it was) and the young lifeguards that supervise from the edge were impolite and looked super bored

Positive experience: Fairly new complex, with lovely staff. It can get quite busy as there are swimming lessons and other sessions for the teenagers who sometimes hug the equipment in the gym. This can be frustrating as most time they are chatting and not using the equipment. The same goes for the steam, pool ( land swimming), and sauna. They get quite busy.

Positive experience: I would love to add 5 star but only reason I didn’t because the flor in studio1,2 usually dirty. However the gym is lovely and I enjoy the classes.

Negative experience: Never answer the phone. I've even stood in the reception while several people who work there ignore the phone. Tried to make a booking online (tickets unavailable despite there being 18 left. Tried to call 4 times and every phone call went through to voice mail. Lovely place, can't make a booking even if I wanted to!!!!!! Arghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Swimming lessons used to be good on a Sunday but they only go to stage 3 so have started coming weekdays and it's terrible can't watch you child swim if above stage 3 crowded to try and drop off and pick up your child no opportunity to speak to your child's teacher prices gone up but now spend less time being taught as they've added more kids per lesson

Fantastic experience: Fantastic leisure centre! Free parking, modern, spacious and clean. The inflatables birthday party is exceptionally good value for money and the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go again!

Fantastic experience: Moved here from Nuffield Chingford and I would recommend it. The membership fee is very reasonable, especially for what you get. Classes are easy to book with spaces for all. The instructors and equipment are great. Sign in, via the machine at the front, is very simple. I haven’t looked back since joining!

Positive experience: Find some of the reception staff unhelpful and rude, they don’t seem to acknowledge you when waiting. Even though they’ve seen you. I found one lady argumentative and lots of attitude when confronted . Gym good though.

Positive experience: The gym is good enough. Basic equipment, limited quantity, too many cardio machines and quiet small with ques on most machines. The pool is alright although you need to book it and that takes long.

Negative experience: Yet again poor customer service from the team. Only one person on reception, I was looking to get a coffee which was never going to happen. So I walked away and sat watching the world go by. Then the next thing that happened just goes to show the lack of integrity of the staff. A woman walks behind the counter from the seating area pours two slush drinks, talks to the blonde woman on reception and walks away giving the two drinks to her children. Now, this where I suspect she may have been employee, but the fact remained that the customer service in the centre that put its prices up is shocking! And I mean shocking! This is a good facility, it could be an excellent facility but while the staff are unchallenged by their actions and attitude the customer service remains poor. Plus on the actions of what I saw today (14/7/2022 @ approx 1550hr) I will remove my swimming subscription and go to another facility.

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely gym. Always clean and tidy. Really enjoy all the classes, lots of choice and the instructors are lovely. Pool is great as is the steam and sauna. Reception staff are all so friendly, helpful and smiling. My only comment would be I wish some of the classes like killer core were also available in the evenings not just in the middle of the day (so that people that work full time can attend). Otherwise 5 stars in every way!

Positive experience: This was a good gym/swimming pool etc but since covid things have changed, opening hours have been shortened, teaching pool hardly ever open for a general swim NOT EVEN during school holidays. Classes have been axed or times changed ,pool is no longer open on a Thursday evening and to add insult to injury they put the prices up. Please get your act together WALC otherwise you will start to loose members and they are your bread and butter income.

Positive experience: I learned to swim in the original Waltham Abbey pool when I was child, so naturally it was the first choice when I decided to take up swimming again as an adult, even though I no longer live there. The new pool, that must be getting on for four years old now, is a nice pool, clean and spacious, and manned by the same lovely staff as the old one, which is a big reason I still go there. The steam room goes off the boil (literally) a bit too often, but when it’s working it’s a lovely way to spend a post-swim afternoon.

Fantastic experience: Went swimming with my 2month old. The lady at the desk was extremely helpful and showed me where to go! They have family changing rooms, which has a baby changer so you can put down your baby when changing yourself. Only problem I found was the training pool had a ladder rather than steps into the pool, which made it difficult when juggling a baby, but the facilities are good!

Negative experience: Small gym and not enough machines, have to queue for equipment at busier times meaning having to spend longer in there to get a full workout. Swimming pool has very limited public swimming times meaning unless your child is booked on for swimming lessons you wont get them in after school for a swim. DD memebship not really worth it when you dont get full use of the facilities.

Negative experience: The leisure centre is nice and clean. But sadly its run by unprofessional muppets who make single cell ameba's look intelligent.

Negative experience: Very clean, but too many people for too small gym/fitness . You have to wait for the equipment or do other parts of the body than you want.

Positive experience: Nice, bright and clean decor from the changing rooms to the reception. Reception staff are lovely and very helpful, even though this sometimes leads to a bit of a wait in the queue!! I took a star away because twice I've turned up to use the baby pool and it has been unavailable.... once due to technical issues and once due to staff shortage...

Negative experience: So disappointed with the Locker App, never works properly, Phones are never answered at the Leisure Centre if need to cancel a lesson, then issued with non attendance fines, its really offending when Im unable to use app or speak to anybody, poor show guy's!

Negative experience: Very limited choice of the equipment. Nothing at all for stomach. Al lot of machines missing. You need to play with your imagination when its full. Newly builded. Was expecting more. Not the cheapest by the way!

Fantastic experience: Take my daughter (baby) swimming lessons here every week, class is great as well as instructor. Took my eldest two in the pool for a general swim too, nice pool and facilities are modern and very clean. No issues at all. Staff friendly.

Negative experience: Poor Service. Never answer phone and when you enquire in person in reception, they don't want to help. I've been 3 times now and always get the same message, the person you need is not here today (they then gave me a number to call on). Tired 2/3 times and left voicemails. over a month later still no answer or call back.

Positive experience: Great place for work outs . Some staff at the reception area are great I.e. Rashid - he was not only helpful on the day but also followed up by calling me to ensure everything went ok. And on the other hand, some staff sadly aren't great and shouldn't be at the reception area for sure . No smiles or polite 'hello'. Just a blank face and surely can't wait to get rid of you, even when it's not busy!.
