Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, and good reminders via mail for motivation. Good value for money.

Positive experience: Great place to take the kids, the inflatables and pool are brilliant. Bad points are the shared carpark with the stadium so you struggle for spaces and secondly make sure to bring flip flops for the changing rooms because they are lifting

Positive experience: Visited for the first time yesterday at family time between 530-630, visited at this time bcos the rest of time is booked for swimming lessons or party’s, I thought this was for the public?? AND the water was freezing, so back to Havent Point bit further away but worth it as water is nice and warm and leisurely with slides and all the lockers work and pleasant staff

Positive experience: Decent activities and brilliant inflatable for kids. But needs a good clean throughout. One of the dirtiest leisure centres we've been to! From the pool side to changing rooms, hair...sand....muck...and general dirt and general uncleanliness. It's a shame for such a new-ish building .

Negative experience: Soft play is good but nether open to the public…. Out of the 10 times I’ve turned up with my daughter I’ve only been allowed in twice. It should be called private party soft play not public, it’s a council lead establishment open for public use but can nether get in. I was told to ring before I arrive to see if there’s a private party on but can nether get through to speak to anyone, just rings and rings. Should have an online schedule to see when private parties are on etc but I give up now it’s a load of Tonk.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant lane swimming slow medium n fast, also accommodated for family swimming with floating obstacle courses n more family swimming in the shallow end. Great all round entertainment for all walks of life in one huge Olympicsize pool! Excellent n the staff are so helpful.

Negative experience: I mean the changing rooms are ok i think they need a clean and they have get cameras above the changing rooms

Positive experience: Im a member and mostly the facilities are ok but weekend's arent good no classes on a lot of the time the pool is used for gala's the lockers are constantly broke and could do with more cleaning

Negative experience: Expensive. Nearly £27 a month to just go swimming, in a pool that's always half closed. They share a car park with the stadium, so you've got no chance on a match day. The business model seems dated.

Positive experience: Great pool for all levels of swimmers, plenty of lockers & great showers. The fitness centre is on 2 levels & has loads of brilliant equipment to suit all. The only downside is the men’s showers. Dirty flooring, dirty walls with Elastoplast on them ☹️ Not been properly cleaned for ages.

Positive experience: Staff are friendly, premises clean and tidy, and classes professionally conducted. The only issue is parking as there is none specifically for the leisure centre- it's shared with the football stadium and out of use on match days.

Fantastic experience: An excellent centre with many amenities. They have a large soft play area for the children, a large gym and swimming pool, fitness classes and karate and much more. They also have a nice little cafe and excellent, friendly staff.

Negative experience: The soft play area located in sunderland aquatic centre is disgusting! The layout of the play area it's self is very good for children and there is plenty of choice for activities. However I was appaled and disgusted at how unclean, unhygenic and unsafe the area is. In almost every corner and edge of the play area there is big clumps of dirt, dust, fluff and mould that clearly hasn't been cleaned in quite some time, this was obvious by the actual build up of it. The netting on the floors above had loads of loose hair dangling from it which also appeared too of built up over time and never been cleaned. I was concerned for the children's safety on the top floor as many of the mats had separated which is a huge tripping hazard and also between the separated mats was more dirt, fluff, crumbs and mould. Just between the ball pit and the window there was actual rubbish, a bottle and Crisps lying around on the floor. I was also unable to use the highchairs as they were also disgusting and full of old food and dirt. It was early morning when I attended so it seems like it hadn't been cleaned since god knows when! It is such a shame because it is a nice playarea but the sheer uncleaness really made the time hear extremely dissapointing and I left the place feeling dirty!

Negative experience: Went to the soft play area which is lovely for smaller children however the cleanliness ess of the place was absolutely appalling, when you have to stop your child playing with a giant fluff / dust ball it's not really acceptable...every area was so dirty it's such a shame

Fantastic experience: Good hygiene and good services. Metro station is near. Only a few minutes' walk to the swimming pool and gym room. A standard international swimming pool and fitness facilities centre in Sunderland.

Negative experience: Tried ringing reception multiples times. Nobody ever picks up the phone. It's now been constantly ringing for the last 10 minutes!

Negative experience: Cancelled my gym membership as it's just simply overpriced. I don't want a bundle, just gym, but their dumb council business logic forces you to pay for swimming with the gym. It's a good gym but they seriously need to drop the price (£27.99 a month) and revise the service. I can get a gym for less than £20 that has 24hour opening - no wonder it's quiet.

Positive experience: Great swim set up, wide lanes and lots of them to accommodate for all swimmers and capabilities. Changing facilities could be better, I attended at the end of the day so perhaps would be cleaner earlier in the day. Pool definitely made up for this. No getting stuck behind people chatting doing breast stroke

Negative experience: For it being state of the art, it doesn't have any sauna or steam room facilities, South Tyneside have the choice of 3 pools equipped with steam rooms, on a Sunderland membership you have to travel to Washington if you want steam rooms, this has put me off getting a membership

Fantastic experience: Alex was so friendly and helpful when me and a friend signed up for a gym and swim membership. She really went out of her way to make sure we had all the info we needed and made us feel really comfortable about starting, when we had felt quite nervous. Also I really hope I remembered the name right, she was the Sales Manager that was working on Sunday.

Negative experience: Weather forecast bad for the morning of 6/9/21 so we decided to take our 2 yr old grandaughter to the Soft Play area within the Aquatics Centre at Sunderland. Checked online and everything was open without a need to book so we headed off in the car with the toddler in the back looking excited. That didn't last long. We arrived at 10:15 am with no queue and asked for a ticket for a single 2 yr old for a Soft Play session at the desk. The girl got up from her desk without saying a word and went behind the scenes, my wife and I looked at each other and wondered what was going on when she came back after 2 or 3 mins to say they were closed due to maintenance. !!! We looked around and saw there were already 4 or 5 other kiddies playing within, when we politely asked why other kids were playing she said that they had pre-booked and they had to honour their bookings. We were a touch dismayed at that and had to explain to a miserable toddler who was turned away. We asked if she could join their session even if it was for only 10-15 mins but we were refused. We did inform her that we had checked online before our arrival and it said nothing about "closed for maintenance" but all we got back was a blank expression !!!. We totally understand maintenance is important especially with kids' involvement but is it so difficult to update your website stating this. ?? We're lucky, we jumped in the car and arrived within 10 mins but some families with 2/3 kids could travel from 2 bus rides away and take an hour and a half getting there, an expensive waste in bus fares and time. Come on for goodness sake, is it so difficult to do a quick update on your website to avoid this, it just amazes me how so many people nowadays can't seem to complete even the simplest of tasks which are part of their job. !!! So our first and definitely our last visit to Sunderland Aquatics Centre.

Positive experience: Went here for swim meets in the past, both the 50m and 25m pools are really nice. The 50m pool is quite deep too which is exciting, the soft play looks fun for little kids to play. The cafe is nice and the food is okay as I have went to go eat there in the past. The changing rooms are spacious and the showers have a nice view as you can look at the pool. However, whilst i was on poolside I saw a lot of green fungi between the tiles.. Please sort it out as it is quite disgusting.

Fantastic experience: Good measures in place. Cleanest I have seen the changing area for a long time and hopefully this continues with regular cleaning. Water temperature better and hope this also continues.

Negative experience: Lovely staff but it's a shame the pool gets prioritise lessons and lane swimming you end up with less than a metre deep area stuck right in a corner filled with everyone saying "is this it" its a real shame but not surprised South shields is a lot better

Negative experience: Need to hire a cleaner the group changing rooms are disgusting inch of dust on the fire alarms across the dividers and in the fans and the showers are filthy. There is also a singular private shower which looks like the roof is peeling off with mould

Negative experience: Poor management - ie for swimming start times. Suppose to be able to swim for 7Am Monday to Friday, lucky if you can get in to swim for 7.05, this morning 10th June 10 past 7 before we got into the water. Regular occurence where paying members of the public queue before 7, but never get in for 7. Management do nothing about this - happens regualrly, so why should the staff care about people / customers who pay there wage!!!

Negative experience: Very disappointed. Told to arrive at 1.45 for a 2pm start to allow for safety briefing. Kids waited 45mins before they even got to queue up for life jackets whilst staff put the course together. Staff were disorganised and ridiculously restrictive about when kids could go on. Fun police! Have been to several inflatable courses in other pools but this is by far the worst even if it is the biggest. Will not be returning.

Positive experience: Average a best. £4.20 to swim in one half of the pool and if you don't use the lanes it's effectively a quarter of it. Changing rooms smell of wee.

Positive experience: Loved the introduction to scuba diving course taken by my daughters. Was a very good starting point for them. The only problem I had was having to try and lug all of the very heavy equipment my two girls needed all by myself and daft that I had to drive us between the shop and the pool without knowing the area. Was a bit stressed but worth it seeing the delight on my daughters faces.

Positive experience: Not been to the pool, the soft play area is nice and big but it's a little dirty. A few months ago the family and I went and there was ants on the children's high chairs. Mentioned to the staff and the next time we went it was considerably cleaner compared to before.

Know how unreliable so glanced at website main page said not busy so thought might be third time lucky. No, twenty min wait till admittance. Only uzed for swim lessons and galas. Will not try again. Manager unavailable and no comments or suggestion box. Very poor

Negative experience: Website sadly does not include vital information. Just looking for a single swim price while not a member does not exist. Rang a premium number to find out the price or if this even possible, to be directed to the site that does not state the enquiry information.

Negative experience: Don't take any children here outside of kids playtime! the lifeguard "Neil" is a real jobs worth and wouldn't let my 3yr old grandson play with any toys the had placed beside the pool. We had to cut our visit short because he was heartbroken. The manager informed me that they have " A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY regarding 3yr olds playing with a plastic bucket in the pool" PLEASE? Shame because the reception staff are lovely.

Negative experience: Something happens everytime you try to swim there, 50m pool which is great you would think, but never open to swim freely, only lanes twice a week, widths the rest, 3 width lanes only open last night as swimming lessons on, in the half of pool you have left, the other 25m also had swimming lessons on, come on Sunderland Council thought this was a PUBLIC POOL

Negative experience: Tried to get a swim in during the week. Lanes were full, people were having confrontation whilst the other half of the pool remained closed and empty. What a waste of time and money.
