Meadowbank Sports Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: Fantastic venue for the snooker that I attended and many other facilities there and it was very impressive. Electric chargers are not managed by venue and non electric cars park in them spaces, stopping electric cars from charging. Had to park at the Hibs stadium which had charging - only 10 min walk back.
Fantastic experience: Just a nod to Craig and the other front of house, Edinburgh Leisure staff, who were all incredibly helpful on a recent visit.
Fantastic experience: Amazing facilities, much better than old building
Fantastic experience: They’ve done a great job of updating the old Meadowbank, which holds fond memories but was in dire need of modernisation.
Fantastic experience: Really good gym nice cafe
Fantastic experience: Fantastic new facility with all you need and more , staff were friendly and knowledgeable
Positive experience: Great selection of gear.
Fantastic experience: Well kept grounds
Fantastic experience: Fabulous new place worth checking it out for yourself
Fantastic experience: Great facilities Lovely centre
Positive experience: Edinburgh City v Falkirk A ground with a difference as there is a running track round the pitch.
Fantastic experience: Ronan Mill was absolutely fantastic at helping us organise and deliver a media event at Meadowbank, and I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with Ronan if you're looking to host an event of any kind at the stadium. Thank you to all the other staff too for their support in delivering the event.
Fantastic experience: It was very nice
Positive experience: Disappointed to see car park charges coming
Positive experience: Pretty good got all the equipment I need
Positive experience: It’s alright
Positive experience: Not very good for watching a game of football....
Fantastic experience: Its a newly built sport center and state of the art equipment and facilities are here. Very good place for playing badminton
Positive experience: great vibe
Fantastic experience: Great facility and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility, plenty of parking
Fantastic experience: This is better than most of the private sector gyms in Edinburgh. Very clean and massive place. Staff seem friendly and changing facilities and toilets are immaculate.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant facilities, brand new massive huge big. Staff are helpful and great with kids classes
Positive experience: Good sports centre, pity about the Coffee in the cafe, very bitter.
Positive experience: I am giving the sports centre 4 stars as an important centre for local people. However, the home ground of Edinburgh City fc is very disappointing. The running track means that fans are too far from the pitch. There is only one stand of covered seating in 3 rows. There is a burger van and people seem friendly. Not really a football stadium in my view.
Fantastic experience: Amazing sport facilities in Edinburgh.
Positive experience: Nice
Positive experience: Modern centre with great facilities though the parking is chaotic and there needs to be a bit of enforcement on blue badge spaces when there are events on.
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Biggest sports centre in Edinburgh
Fantastic experience: A modern gym at a decent price.
Fantastic experience: Used the cafe facilities, they’re very clean. Friendly staff. Latte was great as was the lemon muffin
Negative experience: Terrible place to see a football match
Fantastic experience: Brand new and a massive place for sports and leisure in Edinburgh. They have a holiday club for kids and, a gym for all ages in a spacious venue. They provide bicycle parking spaces and also car parking spaces for the customers. They have an electric vehicle charging station in the parking. They don't have swimming here.
Negative experience: Worst gym, no ethics
Fantastic experience: The best sport centre in Edinburgh
Fantastic experience: Great venue for snooker
Fantastic experience: Definitely one of the top 10 snooker venues in NW Edinburgh.
Positive experience: Good venue, parking poor
Positive experience: Here for Scottish open
Fantastic experience: On my travels from Lands End to John O'Groats, stopped in Edinburgh for a few days on my way back down and was recommended here to take showers as I was struggling to find somewhere. The building is hugely impressive to start, it's got everything under one roof, the staff were really helpful, really chatty and couldn't do enough for me. The shower facility I went into was more than I expected. It was a very big room, private, with a toilet and sink as well as a chair which was handy to sit when I was getting dressed. Appreciate the help and would definitely come back.
Fantastic experience: Best leisure centre in Edinburgh by FAR. Honestly a luxurious experience when you play here.
Negative experience: Worst stadium in League One. Kelty and Ainslee beat it hands down. Food and softies are alright.
Fantastic experience: We (Pickleball Scotland ) along with Edinburgh Pickleball and East Lothian Pickleball Clubs recently held a Pickleball Festival at Meadowbank Sports Centre where we had 104 players and many spectators. It was a great venue, super helpful staff, great access for setup and breakdown, good feedback from participants and we will definitely go back. Thankyou Meadowbank!
Negative experience: It’s almost impossible to make a booking. Been trying to use the tracks for several years and it is always busy. The process is more complicated and the app is rubbish. I find it ridiculous back in the days before the refurb things were more simple and efficient.
Positive experience: The new one seems nice, I only ever pass it on the bus though.
Negative experience: Quite an achievement from Edinburgh Leisure to make it worse than before being knocked down - I'm here for badminton. On courts there's one end where visibility is awful, facing away from centre of hall. Parking terrible, allow extra time.
Fantastic experience: This centre is excellent. Fantastic equipment in the gym and a huge selection of classes. Good on Edinburgh Leisure
Negative experience: Not great over expensive
Negative experience: Very Expensive Gym.They are built with public money and the prices are much more expensive than private gyms. It seems very bad to me that only rich people can be members.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place.
Fantastic experience: Place is good but I got pumped 4-1 @Badminton
Fantastic experience: A really lovely sports centre - huge and well equipped with friendly and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities.
Positive experience: Stadium needs an upgrade like the sports centre did
Fantastic experience: First time there for years. Obviously had a makeover. Very clean and tidy.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Positive experience: I was there to watch my niece play football
Positive experience: Good place for sports like football, running etc
Positive experience: Good gym & equipment here, missing one star only because it does get busy at times.
Positive experience: Always can't help but think that the footballing side of this place needs to be a bigger venue.
Fantastic experience: Willie Scott's MMA class is a great way to learn the sport in a relaxed enviornment, with emphasis given to learning technique and putting it into practice on the mats. He is a superb technician and knows the art well imparting information in an informative, yet informal way. The training is realistic and very useful in a street situation. It doesn't matter if you're there to fight, or just there for the excercise, as everyone is treated equally regardless of their background, age or ability. The class is a great confidence builder as Willie will push you at times to ensure the student is acquring the necessary skills in what can be a challenging environment. There's also a great bunch of guys there who will help you along the way. I would recommend that anyone thinking about trying it should attend at least 3-4 classes to get a real feel for it. I have practiced the sport for many years and it, and Willies instruction has helped me grow immesurably in that time.
Fantastic experience: Review for Alba dornadair mma club within Meadowbank I have been training with Alba dornadair for a few years on and off (work allowing) And from the first day I walked in I was made to feel welcome and part of the team Willie is an amazing mma coach with a wealth of experience and banter with a great teaching technique dor self defense that is easy to learn and utilise well recommended to everyone a great way to build confidence, become fitter and healthier. Alba dornadair is a great club with a great bunch of guys and ladies give them a try you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym with a good variety of equipment. In terms of cleanliness of the facility I would say it's a breath of fresh air compared to other gyms I have visited. Very friendly staff had a small issue with my card and it was dealt with straight away by the front desk staff . All in all great gym facility definitely worth a visit and also shower and lockers
Positive experience: Kids have loads of fun the only problem Is that coaches are not able to manage with other kids bad behaviour and bad language except that kids enjoyed football classes
Positive experience: No trial offers. £9 for a single gym session. Under 16s unsupervised and using equipment without appropriate education.
Fantastic experience: Went there for the boxing event that was on and it was a brilliant night, staff were really good an knew everything about the night. Would definitely go again, what an atmosphere
Negative experience: Specific to the children's Athletics at the weekend. The coaching team is incredibly poor considering the amazing facilities they have. Seem to take an age to set anything up for the kids and one coach in particular is more interested in showing off instead of teaching the kids. Very disappointed with the class, the kids are the future of Athletics and need proper coach's. Serious change is needed and focus on teaching proper Athletics is needed instead of getting the kids to play dodge ball. Extremely poor!!
Positive experience: Our first visit to the new Meadowbank Stadium to watch Edinburgh City v Hibernian FC. From the outside it looks OK, designers tend to be boring especially with civic projects. The stadium now consists of one small 'south Stand' probably around 500 max. The rest is open standing. Obviously money would have been the issue, I presume overall average attendance would be used to decide the layout. Personally I think it's a mistake, even minimum terrace Standing would be good. There is minimum portable toilets, and a small food van (which had nice chips). We had a cracking good afternoon. 3/5
Negative experience: City has absolutely shafted the club with this new stadium, worst stadium in Scotland and that had some tough competition until now…
Fantastic experience: Staff are super nice and helpful. Gym is well equipped. Prices could be cheaper, especially for squash courts
Positive experience: Went there to watch grand daughter compete in cheer. Great venue.
Positive experience: A great place, but too many running, rowing and stepping machines that are idle when static weight training machines are in much more demand. Free weights and benches are usually available.
Negative experience: Terrible place to watch a game of football. Not fan friendly and you need binoculars to see the pitch!
Positive experience: Great gym facilities, apart for the very loud and very cheap music that's banging on the speakers unnecessarily. Invest in noise cancelling earphones.
Negative experience: Alas, the most disappointing ground visited in the Scottish football league. Just 3 rows of seats along 1 side. Surprisingly, the view was better than expected. Also the catering was good, if a little pricy. Just a 25 minute walk from Waverley Station. All the positives nullified by what is a bland, soulless stadium.
Fantastic experience: Great facility,,good experience
Fantastic experience: Great venue. Staff really helpful Toilets could be better In the female changing area
Positive experience: Excellent centre but maybe need larger car park
Positive experience: Nice and Modern on the inside . It could do with some more parking though
Negative experience: They are doing well to play at the level they do on very small crowds in a market that is already well served but the stadium is a poor experience, only one side open with 3 rows of seats, no bar, only food a big standard burger van, no programme or teamsheet. The stadium they knocked down to build this was better. Sightlines poor and no atmosphere
Fantastic experience: very clean, good facilities, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Have been going to MMA training and street combat training at Meadowbank every Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30 for some time now. Really great bunch of people with a mix of complete beginners to the more experienced. I have learnt lots of new skills that I saw on UFC fights such as takedowns, rear naked chokes, striking and ground fighting. The coach has over 30 years experience and is a very knowledgeable guy. I think the first few lessons are free to try. Highly recommended!
Fantastic experience: It is a brilliant meadowbank sports centre
Positive experience: Poor viewing and lack of toilets
Positive experience: Main games hall for Badminton - for a renovation, the standard of the lighting hasn't improved at all. Dark one side and far too light on the other.
Fantastic experience: Great new ground to vist
Fantastic experience: Fantastic recently updated sports facility, brilliant for Edinburgh and East Lothian as kids really need somewhere to train and compete . Squash courts, outdoor track indoor athletics area . Lockers aplenty ! Long jump and high jump area . Fresh modern and spacious a brilliant facility overall ❤️
Positive experience: A bit tatty already ! Not thebest lights in the badminton hall, will be back.
Positive experience: Cafe offers a good range of snacks and drinks.
Positive experience: Lovely venue the cafe could do with a larger selection of food especially if you are spending a lot of time there. Saying that everyone was very friendly and helpful
Positive experience: Really intimidating place I went today and all there was were small, neurodivergent children with rubix cubes. I CANT EVEN SOLVE A RUBIX CUBE!!! WHY DID I GO!?!?!? The venue is nice but I'm still scarred by the noise of the clicking of rubix cubes
Negative experience: Millions spent on the Sports venue by the local authorities. I attended the stadium as I was there to watch my team Falkirk v FC Edinburgh. It must be the worst venue in the Scottish leagues. The views are terrible.4small portoloos for around 1200 spectators. My wife and other female fans would find it hard to use this facility as it was less than adequate for female needs.Mind you the best thing was the result a 2-1' win
Fantastic experience: Well equipped and spacious gym for the price! Very clean with excellent changing rooms
Positive experience: Excellent venue for today's gymnastics competition. Only downside cafe still closed when we arrived
Fantastic experience: Brand new equipment, loads of options and activities available. Thank you to PTs, especially - Matt. Loads of knowledge and supper professional approach.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, can book via usual edinburgh leisure account...
Fantastic experience: The gym is great and I like they have plenty of power racks. The only negative is the bike storage, for such massive sport centre and with a lot of outdoor space that's not enough and those racks are not ideal.
Positive experience: Good facilities hope they make the car park bigger
Negative experience: Very poorly managed track. Leave dangerous football stands in lanes 1-2 with large metal weights and plastic sheets for runners to trip over. And don’t even get me started on the £6 fee for only an hour.
