Fantastic experience: David Lloyds is currently in full refurbishment mode, and honestly, it’s like trying to navigate a live-action escape room. Every day brings a new maze of false walls and blocked corridors. Just when you think you’ve cracked the route to the changing rooms, BOOM, another barricade. Not sure how longer I can use this as a reason for being late to a session. That said, the Blaze classes are still worth the trek! The instructors are like fitness royalty, motivating you to push harder while you quietly wonder if the burpees are some sort of cosmic punishment for complaining about the false walls. With all the detours around the gym, I’m pretty sure I’ve burned half my calorie goal before I even make it to the class. What I miss most, though, is my beloved sauna. My little slice of sweaty heaven, where I could sit, stew, and pretend I was erasing every bad decision I’ve ever made. More importantly, it’s where I hide from the kids. That precious 15 minutes of uninterrupted silence is all that keeps me going some days. Now, instead of blissful heat, I’m trying to navigate my way out like a lost contestant on The Crystal Maze. Bring back the sauna, I need my 15 minutes, and I need it now! But seriously, how about a cheeky discount until the building site vibes calm down? At this rate, we’re all doing extra cardio for free!" It's still a 5 Star though, seen as we are all family. LET'S GO!!!!

Negative experience: DO NOT GO THERE, I repeat DO NOT Very old facilities, crusty, dirty etc Bad customer service, actually WORST Very racist, Unbelievably. Nothing else to add. That it is. It would be a waste of my time typing all the details. This place is a disgrace in 2024 honestly, Horrendous service PS: I am PLATINIUM member of David Llyods Warrington , well all my family included, pay around £300 monthly and its one of the BEST.

Negative experience: An absolute disgrace. We were wrongly issued with a parking fine even though we had a clear disabled badge in the window. I informed David Lloyd who just ignored the emails so we ended up getting debt collectors involved which was a disgrace. We have paid the gym thousands of pounds over the years and this is how the my treat you. I have asked for the complaints procedure 5 times and that has been ignored as well. There was also a stabbing in the gym 2 months ago. In my opinion they should pay more attention to stopping people with knives coming into the gym rather than persecuting people who show valid disabled badges. UPDATE Just to respond to David Lloyd reply club management got in contact after ignoring 12 emails over a month period. Had I not published this review on google i highly doubt in would have received a response. We have since left the club and found a much better gym for under half the price.

Negative experience: Hygiene poor and finally it out in daily mail.
Negative experience: Currently paying over £100.00 a month. Started off with access to the Gym / pool / sauna / steam room / jaccuzi. Slowly but surely they have removed everything but the gym due to the refurb. You can't even get a decent shower now that they have moved the whole mens changing room into the broom cupboard. The refurb is a good thing, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the members. I asked for a reduction in my monthly payments while the refurb was going on. The response I got was. "Sorry, there is nothing we can do" its just unreasonable. They couldn't care less about existing members. My guess is that they are going to put the membership cost up once the refurb is complete also.

Fantastic experience: I was visiting Speke David Lloyd for work on Tuesday 5th November and excited to try some of the food off the new menu. I placed my order with a special request and Lou cooked it to perfection. Thanks Lou great lunch.

Fantastic experience: I recently enquired about joining David Lloyd, Liverpool. As a couple with a 14 year old son we wanted somewhere where we could all go together, but where our son could feel independent and go off in to the gym himself without us tagging along! We met Bethan who gave us a tour and explained everything regarding the classes and what DL had to offer. Bethan was great, she did not put us under any pressure to join, she was just really personable, helpful and informative. Especially after hearing all about the fabulous refurbishment that is underway, we decided to join there and then. Even after 1 week of using the gym, pool and classes we are so pleased that we have joined. There is a real family atmosphere, and everyone is helpful and friendly. We accept that there will be some disruption over the next few months due to the refurbishment but it will be worth it. No gain without pain♀️. Can’t wait for the spa to open. Thanks again to Bethan. Fantastic experience: Personally, I have been a member from when I was about 9 years old and at nearly 20 I now work there as a lifeguard, and I have to say the team are like a family. They are very supportive and they know their aims for the club. I feel proud when I say to people “I work at David Lloyd” this was the dream when I was little. But the main thing is the club itself it’s very welcoming, and I couldn’t think of anything better
Negative experience: Great gym, pools, cafe, classes but now with this refurbishment & additional spa facilities we all existing members are being asked to pay on average an extra £30 per month to use the new spa. So basically they are taking away the sauna, steam room & jacuzzi for existing members but still charging us the same monthly fee? Just doesn’t make sense. What was a lovely gym with a good spa experience for your monthly fee, has now just turned into a gym with classes & a pool? Very similar facilities to most gyms which are half the price? Where is the incentive to stay? Crazy!!

Negative experience: So apparently not providing service is ok now. They started the renovations and with that all the saunas, kids pool and jacuzzi are permanently closed until December. No replacement for any of those activities. Loud, deafening construction noise all thorough the works while people are using the only open freezing public pool. No alternatives were provided. Probably the rudest lifeguards in the whole UK, who insist on following silly policy without exceptions and if anything go wrong they will call the manager on you. Crazy expensive prices in the bar and kitchen, the lobby looks like a shed entrance. Please don't buy subscription for these services as you won't be happy and it is generally hard to back out from the contract without paying penalties.

Negative experience: Awful “gym” & desperately in need of a refurb, which apparently is coming. Been a member for over 10 years & it’s the same old. Classes are the same, day in day out & mostly taught by the same person who teaches the same thing (a female teacher). Did a strength class & it was more like a cardio class & not to mention dangerous. But she’s more interested in the people who attend her classes often than anyone new. Then management, or lack of. Complain to the gym, the manager stands on reception waiting for you, complain to his boss & they have each others back. The management viability is truly terrible & he clearly doesn’t like people from Liverpool. It needs a complete overall, from the top down, I’ve put my 3 month cancellation in

Negative experience: We have just completed a 12 month membership and I have to say this is one of the worst ways to spend 2.5k out there. They sell it as a family offering when in fact it’s too busy, hostile and down right dirty. We originally joined so we could take our children while we attended classes. The classes were always full the children classes were always full and neither classes lined up, customer service is woeful unless you are trying to join. Just try and call as an existing member no one answers! Save your money this isn’t the answer

Negative experience: Still waiting for my daughter's level 1, 2 and 3 certificates from her swimming lessons. We have been chasing them up since August. We left the gym on October. Whoever Janine is should be fired. Absolutely abysmal. They blame the swimming instructors, and funnily enough the instructors blame the gym. You couldn't make it up. To me, to you like the chuckle brothers of gyms.

Negative experience: Worst family leisure centre and gym I have ever had the misfortune of attending. The place hasn't been modernised (despite spending largely on a new spa). Family parking is filled by late gym goers, leaving families with young children having to park the furthest away. Most of the young staff are not well trained or seem disinterested. The adult gym is completely sterile (clean) but lacks charm, inspiration, fun. Facilities are often broken (such as the lift). At the price you pay you expect premium gym service family services. They really aren't l, the low standards are an indictment of the lack of funding councils now have to spend on leisure facilities (which to be far are still better value than David Lloyd). I have been to a few David Lloyd gyms around the North and Midlands. Warrington Branch was better, but the David Lloyd Birmingham was pretty bad also. The managers won't speak to paying members, when I have previous raised concerns, for instance, when my young daughter nearly got trampled by an adult parent when I was collecting her from one of the kids clubs. The DL app is completely hopeless and the central office have interest in help with enquiries complaints. Completely amazed that is this day an age that people are willing to pay a premium to be served so poorly. The interest for company is to make money and it is clear by the whole experience.

Negative experience: Do not bother with this gym if you need to use Crèche facility’s They never ever have staff and I’m constantly cancelled at 10pm at night by phone calls to say the crèche is closed after me booking in advance I’m paying for a membership for myself and my baby and I can’t get to the gym it’s a joke Complete waste of money £ 100 a month No crèche No refund on the money ive paid and lost not being able to go because of no crèche Complete rip off for the price

Negative experience: Staff friendly, but spa not very clean, indoor pool tiling area grubby, steam room smelly today, but usually ok. Outdoor pool full of leaves a blue paper. Could do better Update! Jacuzzi and outdoor pool out of order, Informed outdoor pool will not be available till sometime in January. Possibly the most expensive gym membership I’ve seen, with the worst experience. Think twice before joining. I wish I hadn’t!

Fantastic experience: I have attended DL Speke for a number of years and have always found the staff to be approachable, friendly and helpful whether that be the gym instructors, the cafe staff or front desk operators. Special mention to Sienna and Anna in this regard. The club offers a wide variety of classes with some brilliant instructors such as Anthony, Angela, Lee & Paul. The only drawback is that there is not enough gym equipment available on the gym floor or studio with many of the machines in need of replacement. Cleanliness in the changing rooms and pool/sauna area could be much better also.

Positive experience: Great facilities here which you'd expect for the price you pay, but one star knocked up for cleanliness. Shower areas and pool side areas needed a good clean. Facilities on offer here include indoor and outdoor football, tennis, swimming, squash and many more.

Fantastic experience: Love it all, the gym, pool, classes, kids facilities etc. All staff are so friendly & welcoming. Zoe has been amazing in getting me to feel confident in the gym, I have also attended a few of her classes which have been 10/10. Would also recommend Aaron’s classes, they are so FUN & his energy is amazing!

Fantastic experience: David Lloyds is a calm and comfortable place with staff who are always happy to help. On many occasions staff member Emma has been there to calm me down when i was first starting and offered advice for classes and things to do that would help. The pool is great so is the gym and all facilities are clean and up to standards. Overall very enjoyable

Fantastic experience: Came in to have a look around as I’m looking for somewhere to take my little girl who’s now 5 months swimming. I spoke to a lovely lady called Sinead who showed me round and was so helpful. She answered all my questions and made me feel so welcome.

Fantastic experience: Visited the David Lloyd's in speak with my son and my brother and his daughter,the establishment was fantastic like the Warrington one could not fault it had a really great day the only thing was the outdoor pool was closed due to high chlorine levelling but had a great time swimming having a mess about throwing a foam ball but wow the games of tennis were great really had a fantastic day the time just went too quick now we all know the saying time flys when your having fun but their was a lifeguard by the name of izzy who was so helpful and due to the fact I'd phoned early that morning and was told the outdoor pool was open but it wasn't as they test all pools hot-tubs regularly it was closed of to the members but as I'd used a guest pass izzy had put it back on my membership account which I thought was so good of her that's why I have to put it out as I was not even really that worried about it but just goes to show how nice it is to be nice you get a great comment so well inn izzy and the whole david Lloyd staff at speak a very happy member P.s I would definitely recommend a travel to the speak club to other members as was a great club and opposite is a huge retail park with alot of great places from cinema to bowling shopping and eating so get on it

Fantastic experience: Best family gym! No other gym compares. Could spend the whole day there with my family. Great children's activities and love that they offer classes for kids so parents get to workout too. The cafe is a great addition, my daughter loves the playarea! and I enjoy having lunch and a coffee, knowing my daughter is entertained and happy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there's always a great atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: The perfect place. They've got a gym so you can get strong, if you can't get strong then you can play tennis and stay fit, if you can't do exercise you can go in the sauna and hothub, if you don't like being hot and sweaty you can always have some food and a drink.

Fantastic experience: I recently re joined David Lloyds after trying others local gyms. The facilities are second to none, and the overall club experience is excellent for both individuals and families. It’s great to see people using the gym both for their physical and mental well-being as it is a hive of activity with people both training and socialising, it truly is more than just a gym. Special recognition must go to Courtney in sales who dealt with my initial enquiry, guiding me through the benefits of the various membership options and was happy to give me a no rush tour of the gym so I could see all the great new equipment and facilities before making the decision to join. The app adds to the experience, making it easy to see the club timetable and book classes as well as order food and drinks in the chilled club room. No local gym comes close to David Lloyd Speke.

Negative experience: I had high hopes when I signed up at David Lloyd Speke, especially because of the creche for my child. However, my experience has been consistently disappointing. The creche, which was the main reason I joined, is frequently cancelled, and getting a refund is always a hassle. The gym itself is a letdown. Upstairs, the machines are often out of order, and when they do work, they're covered in dirt from previous users. It's clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. The food offered is another letdown - it's consistently overcooked, burnt, and tastes terrible. The exorbitant prices for such low-quality food is shocking. The lack of cleanliness extends beyond just the gym area. The tables are perpetually dirty, and despite the gym being overcrowded, they continue to bring in new members without maintaining basic cleanliness standards. The changing rooms and toilets are a nightmare - dirty and smelly, making the whole experience unpleasant. In short, my experience at David Lloyd Speke has been a regrettable one. The promises they make during the sign-up process don't hold true in reality. I'd strongly advise looking elsewhere for a gym with better facilities, cleanliness, and customer service. They keep asking you to provide feedback on the app however the feedback is never taken into consideration.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to the club for around 1 year and it's great, would recommend to everyone, great staff and facilities always very clean. Never to busy in the gym. I choose this gym because they offer so much more than others, free tennis, outdoor pool is amazing it feels like being on holiday!

Negative experience: I chose david lloyd as my gym and pay the premium as they had a creshe which i thought was a great idea and helped. However it has been pointless. they do not have the staff so it cannot be on for a weeks or literally gets cancelled on the morning!! it is not worth paying for the gym if you do not have these amnetites. they also don't refund you the creshe payment.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for close to 20 years and can’t imagine not being now. The club has a really nice atmosphere. Some gyms can feel intimidating but this has never been the case here. The classes and instructors are amazing especially Becky, Paul, Lee, Angela, Charlotte and Yoga Mohan. The kids classes and facilities are great too. It’s also really good being able to use other clubs as part of the membership.

Positive experience: Poolside isn’t clean (which multiple people have commented on, yet nothing has changed?) Food service is shocking - had multiple issues so stopped bothering. All things you could possibly over look if you were paying £50 a month. But for the price you’re charged, you expect better. Ended up cancelling our membership. Had this one have been to the standard of the Warrington one, we’d have stayed - loved it there!

Positive experience: Want to thank Angela, Debbie, Anthony and Paul who all provide fantastic classes week in week out. The classes and instructors are the best thing about the club. It would be a 5 star review if solely based on them. They bring fantastic energy and always push every individual no matter their ability to get the best out of their workouts. The timetable has such a variety - there is something for everyone. Main issues would be cleaning around poolside which is raised a lot. Thanks again to all instructors and staff!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member for over 10 years and I think it’s a brilliant club. The members and instructors are excellent and very welcoming and supportive. For anyone wanting to get into weight training, I’d recommend their delta programme led by the brilliant Dan. It’s a bit extra but definitely value for money - my fitness has gone from strength to strength! And here’s a pic of all the sweaty and smiley faces after Lee’s Saturday morning bootcamp - the best way to start the weekend!

Fantastic experience: Cant fault this gym as it fits all my needs as a single mum. My son loves the kids classes which he can attend 7 days a week, whilst i go and do my own classes. My favourite is Delta, top team of people and such amazing support as a group. Highly recommend anyone coming for a taster session.

Positive experience: I love David Lloyd. It does what it says on the tin … helps me stay fit and healthy. I love the outdoor pool and the range of classes and most importantly I love the people and the atmosphere. I have signed up to Delta ( group PT) and it’s the best thing I’ve invested in. Community, expert coaching by an experienced team and results achieved. Flipping love it ! I’m 51 and feel in the best shape of my life. If you invest and go (your health is your wealth) it’s worth every penny. A few things could be improved here and there. But they’ve got the staff and classes right and Feedback is taken on board.

Fantastic experience: I would like to shout out to Angela, our awesome yoga instructor at the club! She's seriously the best, and her classes have been a game-changer for me. First off, Angela is a yoga pro! No matter if you're a seasoned yogi or just starting out, she's got a way of teaching that makes you feel comfortable and supported. She knows all kinds of yoga styles and always switches them up, so it never gets boring. You'll leave her class feeling like you really accomplished something. Angela does this magical thing with Lavender spray that totally blows our minds. As soon as you walk into the class, the sweet scent of Lavender hits you, and all the stress just melts away. It's like stepping into a cosy, calm retreat where all your worries disappear. I can't thank Angela enough for making our club such a special place. If you're looking to find your Zen and have a blast doing it, you've got to check out her classes. Angela is a true yoga rockstar, and we're lucky to have her!

Fantastic experience: When I m at David Lloyd I always feel like in the posh country club in Greg's Diary by Jeff Kinney. It is simply amazing. So much to do here. Everything is neat and civilised. People are very friendly and I made friends quickly. I have been living in Liverpool for nearly seven years and deeply regret I die not enroll earlier. Every day without David Lloyd is a wasted day.
