New Addington Leisure & Community Centre

Fantastic experience: It was very good good car parking, shops across the road We were upstairs only problem they were playing basketball on the other half of the hall and it was very noisy

Negative experience: The facility is okay, But the people and their kids are very untidy - nasty have O Discipline and respect it's going to be a challenge keeping this place clean and fit for purpose, If nothing done about it.

Fantastic experience: Centre Parking is full but the Croydon council parking outside is free on Sunday.

Positive experience: The centre is very new but I don't believe the space is not well used. The gym has a lot of good equipment but there isn't really enough of it. The main pool is small.

Negative experience: Adequate facilities (pool, changing rooms, etc) but unfortunately disrespectful and rude staff. Me and a disabled colleague were treated poorly by a handful of lifeguards here, and I even witnessed a lifeguard harassing various individuals for no reason whatsoever. Shameful since it’s an otherwise alright establishment.

Fantastic experience: I went to the ‘Fitness Rebound’ trampoline class lead by Jameelah and it’s fantastic. She has so much warmth and friendliness - also her playlist is second to none and the routine is super fun!

Fantastic experience: An another member of the well known and renoved spa and swimming pool chain called Better, I think its the furthest one I've been up to now - you have to take take the tram line directly to New Addington from Croydon centre

Positive experience: Nice, clean pool and changing areas. Could do with more showers although it wasn’t too busy (Sunday afternoon). For the lockers you have to pay 25p for a token from a machine which only takes contactless. Only place I’ve been where you have to pay for a locker each time

Fantastic experience: Recently moved to forestdale Croydon, took my grandchildren swimming, I was so impressed with New Addington, Leisure, Centre. Wonderful staff and great facilities.

Negative experience: It’s a good gym but for the money you pay it’s not worth it as there’s only one weights equipment each and you have to wait around in a queue to use them. If you want to just do cardio then it’s fine as there more than enough treadmills.

Negative experience: They fail to update the schedule online for the swimming pool so don’t be surprised if you get there and they say it’s closed for a private event

Positive experience: What I like the most about this Better gym is the huge range of machines available to use! This gym definitely has one of the most I’ve seen in any of the Better Gym branches that I’ve visited. Great vibe always in this gym. Some really friendly people working out always willing to show support and have a chat. Great community spirited gym. I find that going around 7am to be quieter for me, when everyone trying to get their workout in before going off to actual work has left lol. I went in the evening/afternoon once and it was very busy. It does get busy at times because it is such a well equipped gym so finding the right time to go is important if you have certain equipment you wish to use. As for cleanliness I find this gym to be quite good compared to some other branches. I always see a cleaner doing their job whilst I’m present. I’ve been to another branch where in 2 years I never saw a cleaner once while I was present so that says a lot. The staff I don’t find to be the friendliest to be honest. They are not rude or anything like that, but I said good morning when I walked in once and they seemed stunned by this lol. Didn’t bother again next time I went just walked straight pass them, but that’s okay. They are at least helpful. I lost something once and they made an effort to try and help me to find it. Haven’t done any classes in this gym so I couldn’t comment on this. Overall this is a great Better Gym. It is in my top 3 out of all the branches I’ve visited.

Negative experience: Decent enough gym, but for the price of a monthly membership it’s quite poor. One of the water refills has had a red light on the filter for months and the machines aren’t cleaned properly and the hand sanitizer is always empty? Surely these are basics for spending £40 per month…

Fantastic experience: Great, well equipped gym and swimming pool, although the water is a little bit on the chilly side when you first get in. Doesn't get too busy during the weekday mornings and free parking too! They have lots of exercise classes throughout the day, although I haven't plucked up the courage to attend any yet! A cafe would be nice, but not essential as there are several options just across the road.

Fantastic experience: Nice clean 25m pool, with friendly staff to help. £6 for a 1 hour swims seems like good value these days, especially as they restrict numbers and lanes aren’t busy. Def use again.

Fantastic experience: Market every Thursday morning, last one today has closing for the winter. Lovely stall holders with lots to choose from & very fair prices plus hot drinks available. Hope to see you all in the new year

Negative experience: Had been attending the gym here for a few months but the cleanliness and general maintenance of the place seemingly just got worse and worse. The gym space is super crammed considering the size of the building and is often very dirty and dusty. Bins are usually full and it's hit or miss wether or not the paper towels will be stocked. Can't speak for the men's gym changing area but the women's locker-room and showers are honestly pretty gross. Hair all over the shower walls, grubby tiles and bits of rubbish all around the locker room and in some of the lockers. And I don't know if there had been an unfortunate accident in one of the showers last I went or if it was simply the smell coming from the toilets but dear god...

Fantastic experience: this was my first visit and I went to the gym.The array of equipment is excellent ,this is definitely my gym from now on.

Negative experience: This used to be my favourite gym that I have been to, I've been to expensive ones and low cost. Everything within this gym was absolutely brilliant. After returning after a couple months off due to mental and physical health problems I have come back to the gym floor being pushed together like sardines. The running machines are so close together there is no room to get to the window at the front as you could before to place your water and belongings when you are on the treadmill. Also you cannot move between gym equipment without disturbing someone else's workout, which is incredibly frustrating for you and the other person and it feels very claustrophobic. I used to highly recommend this gym to everyone but unfortunately, for gym use and those suffering with anxiety etc, I would not recommend. Also fire alarm tests have always been during exercise classes resulting in disturbance and the fluidity of the class being broken. (Why not do it between classes?) Class instructions are fantastic and staff have always been lovely. Just a shame about the changes within the gym.

Negative experience: Was fine but now they have crammed all the gym equipment so close together you'll end up sweating on the next person. Was fine a few days ago.. but someone came up with this bright idea. I'll be cancelling.

Positive experience: Nice leisure centre, Spinning Class is great but if comes to the gym there is so much to say. The gym is quite dirty, equipments left wherever and it seems like the staff don’t care about it. I saw so many times members of staff at the gym floor and no one picked up the equipments and put them away. Yeah it might be a members’ stuff to do but not everyone does it and it should be enforced by the gym staff. Paying £40 just for the gym is wasting money, so make sure all facilities are used by you if you’re a member.

Positive experience: Nice but gym is very small. Considering how big the building is, a bigger gym will be great. Also, because the gym is small, they don’t have a lot of gym equipment so you find yourself not being able to workout the way you want because other people are using it/there’s a wait. I’ll suggest making the gym space much bigger and getting more gym equipment please. Thanks

Positive experience: Gym space is a bit small considering the size of the building. It can feel / get packed quick in there. Can't use any of the studio rooms when not in use to practice free weights more privately Feel they need to increase the size of the gym as its all packed into one, when it is a massive building! Never see staff in the gym to help Also the opening times aren't the best, especially compared to other gyms. Shuts at 6pm on Sundays? Etc.. really should consider extending hours or even 24/7 like puregyms

Negative experience: WHAT FILTHY TOILETS!!!! Absolutely disgusting. I won't say here what Greeted me after a long journey on public transport, but I WONT be using the Leisure Centres facilities! Dirty Bxxxxxxxx

Negative experience: Today I recieved the most disgusting customer service at New Addington leisure centre. The pool attendant was extremely rude and very unprofessional. I did complain to the management about this particular member of staff, and her atrocious behavior. In which I did receive a verbal apology. In future I advice that this leisure centre do a better job at staff hiring. To avoid future customer complaints. Not good

Positive experience: Gym clean and tidy, I only signed up so i could use the gym. The gym is kinda small but I thought I could work out, went today and thiers literally 1 person on every machine, and I didn't come to do running on a treadmill. Last time I went was in early morning when I had a day off, if you can get thier when it's opening, then it's good, if not then you ain't gonna be doing much of a work out in this gym if it's like this every day. Come to realise all the gyms around croydon, Bromley, etc are small with hardly any equipment, which is 1 thing I hate about living down here. When I was living in Chelsea every gym was huge with alot of equipment, guess companys don't care about these kinda areas.

Fantastic experience: My first time since moving up this way. What a treat to have this so near. It's fantastic! So modern and clean, the pool was gorgeous as we're the changing rooms and other facilities.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my experience in New Addington Leisure & Community Centre especially when I was taking four selfies between 5:48pm and 6:21pm.

Positive experience: First time at this leisure centre since it opened a few years ago. Came only to join and use the gym so can only comment on that. Firstly, the gym is pretty nice, lots of equipment, nice decor and presentation. Not too crowded, but there's enough equipment to go around either way. Locker/changing room for the gym or studios is big, lots of lockers (bring your own padlock kind) and showers. Now the reason for the three stars. Apart from at the front desk, I didn't see staff anywhere else in the building, not one in the gym keeping an eye on everything or to be there for help and guidance. Hygiene and cleanliness was also a concern, everything (the locker room, showers, the stairs, the floors) had a look that they hadn't been cleaned or even swept in a while, which especially in the gym, is concerning in a post COVID-crisis world.

Fantastic experience: Although the staff members there were not very welcoming, we went there for the exercise. We booked the badminton court and had lots of fun. This Leisure Centre is bigger than South Norwood's. It was super clean too. Will come back for badminton or basketball too for sure.
