Our comment from FitFit UK about Hyde Leisure Pool:
Hyde Leisure Pool is a vibrant and engaging facility located in Hyde, United Kingdom, perfect for family fun. The center boasts a clean environment and well-managed facilities, receiving frequent praise for its friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Here are some of the top features:
- Family-friendly atmosphere: The pool area includes a wave machine, water slide, lazy river, and fun rapids, providing endless entertainment for children.
- Great value for money: With a generous 90-minute swim slot and reasonable pricing, families can enjoy a fun day out without breaking the bank.
- Facilities: While the changing rooms and showers could use improvement, the café provides tasty snacks and drinks to refuel after swimming.
However, there are a few areas that guests have mentioned need attention:
- Many users have reported that the water temperature can feel quite cold, especially for younger children.
- The facility can get crowded during peak times, leading to long wait times for changing rooms and the potential for a hectic experience.
- Some staff interactions were described as unfriendly, which can dampen the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere.
Overall, Hyde Leisure Pool is a delightful destination for families looking to enjoy a day of water fun, despite a few minor shortcomings.

Hyde Leisure Pool: Opinions
Fantastic experience: A clean and professionally run centre. Love the place and I use it a few times a week.
Fantastic experience: knowledgeable staff ,friendly and helpful. Nice relaxed atmosphere, gym not too busy.
Fantastic experience: Been here a few times with the kids it's a great pool. They have a slide and waves a small lazy river with waterfalls
Fantastic experience: Best swimming pool I ever seen my kids still want to go 5stars
Negative experience: Ever time I go here the staff annoy me, I am ten and go for private swimming lessons, yesterday a metal weight was in the bottom of the water so someone could get injured so I dived and got it out (she saw me get it) later my friends goggles broke and I asked if I could go and get them she said no… WHY JUST WHY okay she has taught me professional diving. DO NOT GO HERE
Positive experience: Pretty cold water-saw a 3 year old getting out early from the session shivering with the cold. Great for families. There's 1 water slide. The main pool becomes a wave pool every half hour, kids need to be able to swim or be with responsible guardian. It's not very big overall yet they have slots to sell over 100 tickets per entry time, so it is very busy and feels crowded. Enough facilities for changing and lots of lifeguards visible. Kids will love it though, Well worth it for them to play
Fantastic experience: Wet and wild ! Will definitely go again
Negative experience: Greeted by a very rude and verging on aggressive member of staff on reception. Maybe she was having a bad day? However this has put me off visiting in future. Would not recommend.
Fantastic experience: My grandkids love the fun pool, the lazy river and waves are great and as booking slots are 90mins it is great value for money
Positive experience: Love the concept of this place with water slide, wave machine, whirlpool tunnel, water jets etc but the water itself in the pool is far too COLD. The indoor space isn't heated either. Tiny children who can't swim yet so can't move their bodies enough to generate the heat to stay warm in that water just shiver covered in goose bumps. We last went on Saturday and even I as an adult was cold because the water temperature was too cold. It spoils the experience. They need to increase the water temperature to consider the younger children and babies in arms.
Positive experience: Apart from the long queue to wait to get in which delays getting into the pool which then cuts into the kids swim time... this pool is great to visit. It has a slide, rapids and a wave machine. It's a very good price to get in and the kids always have a great time. The staff are friendly at both the reception and the cafe. My only critism would be the food. It's not the tastiest and it's quite expensive so we always end uo driving to Mcds for the kids less than 10 mins up the road. Other than that, we would absolutely recommend visiting here.
Fantastic experience: Nice and very enjoying place.. Good for children
Fantastic experience: First time been there on swim, slide and waves session, The pool wasn't very crowdy so we had good time (session at 8:45am)
Fantastic experience: Amazing atmosphere & venue Asuperheroworld.co.uk for all your children's Entertainment
Positive experience: Almost always a great time, staff are brilliant and facilities are clean, today was freeeeezing though despite the paper indicator on reception saying the water was 30
Fantastic experience: Me and the kids went there, really enjoyed it.
Negative experience: Nice pool but it has been massively overbooked I was nearly bumping into others and did not have much space to swim
Positive experience: I go there because of the session time, could be more showers and changing cubicles in fact there is 212 people in session
Negative experience: Pool is great and kids had fun but my God the cafe is something else and not in a good way. Bins over flowing, had to clean down my own table before sitting at it (the lad literally handed me paper towel and spray). The other tables just sat with crap all over them for well over an hour while staff just chatted and waited around.
Positive experience: Great place for children with a generous 90-minute swim time. But, the facility could benefit from additional changing rooms.
Fantastic experience: First visit for about 20 years. Still the same, kids love it. Bought tickets in advance which worked well
Fantastic experience: My granddaughter goes for swimming lessons very good teaching coaches.
Negative experience: They never answer the phone!!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant pool, lots of fun with the wave machine, slide and lazy river. Very clean, good size lockers. Changing room is noisy and busy so if you're neurodiverse use the disabled changing room (radar key) or take ear defenders. Always put your sliders on the wall if you use them to walk in to the pool or they'll end up being washed into the pool when the wave machine comes on!
Fantastic experience: Amazing for the kids. Lovely staff
Fantastic experience: we are very satisfied, and most of all my son, even though it is a long way to get there by bus
Fantastic experience: Great day out kids loved the wave machine and the slide
Positive experience: Amazing staff at the front desk. Very helpful and especially one lady who went above and beyond to help me. The place is clean. They sell all swimming gear Incase you forget something like I did. They have a cafe with warm drinks and food also there's vending machine. It has one curving slide. I think the pool is small thats why I gave it 4 star otherwise it's a nice little place.
Fantastic experience: Fab pool! There is a water slide (Red Ripster slide – must be 1.1 m/ 3ft 6 tall) , a wave machine, small rapids section, bubble chairs/jacuzzi section, and jet hoses that come on blasting cold water! Tons of fun for my 8 year old, and me.
Fantastic experience: Really good value for money. We got the family ticket for 4 of us - 2 adults & 2 children for £20, which saved a few quid on getting individual tickets, not a bad price at all for something to do with the kids.
Negative experience: The guards don't pay attention to grown women intentionally dunking children underwater during the waves. She knew my son pointed to her to tell me and quickly exited to go on the slide. I approached the staff about this and nothing was done. She changed costumes at one point and then walked her way through numerous young children, including mine causing my daughter to scream as she stood on her leg. Staff did nothing even when myself and other parents brought it to their attention. I got the apology myself
Fantastic experience: Great place, kids loved it, the wave machine, rapid & shower jets were all fun Changing area & lockers very clean Cafe is good & not to pricey Only downside was the toilets, need to checked prob every 15 mins, when we went they were dirty & not cleaned for the 45 mins we was there
Fantastic experience: Regularly use the pool with my son. Always very clean and lovely staff. Can get a little busy and when you have to wait for a changing cubicle it can be extremely annoying (especially with a shivering toddler)
Positive experience: Today l payed 20 pounds to go Active hyde swimming baths and when l got there I was feeling strange the fire alarm was a little suspicious but after swimming for 1 hour l took a shower and guess what, the fire alarm went off and l knew it will happen so l waited 3 minutes just to get the fire alarm to stop and they said false alarm wow really just wasted my time on getting dressed but anyway l went to the cafe in there and ate and went back home but l will never forget this time l was in a pool with the fire alarm going off.
Negative experience: I've been going to Hyde lesuire for years on and off. Last time we were there, about 4 months ago, I noticed a thick dark line right around the top of the water including the whirl pool which I assumed must be a stain of some sort. Yesterday we attended again and this thick (about 2 inches) wide line is much worse, I ran my nail across it and made a clean mark right through it. ITS SCUM!! Like you would get if you didn't clean your bath over a period of time at home. I was disgusted, there is no need for this filth, and trust me, that's what it is, to be there, go see for yourself!. Also whatever is in the water was burning my eyes, I've noticed that before too, suffice to say we wont be goingback there in the near future. Clean up your pool Hyde Leisure people, it's pure laziness at best!
Negative experience: The staff are lovely but it's old and needs a good clean.
Positive experience: Fun time. A bit tired but good facilities, good slide. Wave pool good. I can recommend the place.
Fantastic experience: Nice clean gym friendly staff and the CV machines are really good high tech. Like the fact I can connect my Apple Watch to the cross trainer and treadmill.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service… I had to walk out from just the way the woman was speaking to us and making us feel unwelcome. Definitely not joining this gym
Fantastic experience: Great local pool that offers something for everyone. During the school holidays I often take my children to the general swim due to my child's sensory needs. The pool isn't that deep which means it's perfect for new borns and toddlers and it allows my other children can go off safely and play. The activity sessions when the wave machine and slide are open can get a bit busy so book in advance and is too noisy for one of my children so there is another pool which is for general and lane swimmers.
Positive experience: Need to think about more facilities like more showers, changing cubicles and hair dryers. But overall had a great time. Would definitely visit again
Fantastic experience: Spotlessly clean, great changing rooms (lots of room) and the pool is ace! Waves, slide and rapids are brilliant. Water isn’t cold either . Family ticket for £20 is a bargain. Cafe reasonably priced. Great family day out . Been a few times.
Positive experience: I went this weekend to the pool, having been about 3 years ago. I forgot how intense the place is for numbers of people and noise. The pool itself was warm and the facilities were clean and tidy, and my son loved the waves. However, the ticketing system doesn’t suit the facilities - it can’t handle 200 people all entering or leaving at the same time. Queue to enter the building…scramble for changing rooms…queue for the pool to open…scramble for showers…waiting for a changing cubicle with people everywhere. A decent pool but the ticketing system (maybe there’s no better way of doing it) adds a level of unwanted stress to a Saturday morning swim.
Fantastic experience: Laura's Saturday zumba class is fantastic. Great music and moves. Full of energy. Sets you up for the day. Fun and never gets mundane.
Fantastic experience: First time to visit this leisure centre, good facilities, good location, with parking area
Negative experience: Rude staff. Seemed like alot of hassle to book in for swimming. The member of staff kept angrily saying I should of used the app. Shame I've been going here for nearly 30years.
Positive experience: We paid £10 between me and my daughter for a 1.5hr session. The slide is FOC, my daughter loved the place. It was a good experience. For the price I can't complain much. There's plenty of free parking space onsite. We didn't have to queue at the entrance. There're also plenty of £1 lockers around, there's not many changing cubicle though. There's a dining area where hot food and drinks can be ordered. I'd suggest the swimming centre for families with young kids, however it's not an aqua park and older kids might feel bored too early. There's no queue at the slide either during weekdays.
Positive experience: The gym is smaller than most but has all you need for a workout. Ample free parking for both pools and the gym. The place is kept clean and tidy, staff are friendly and approachable
Negative experience: Took the kids for a couple of hours swim, it was really busy, we booked online beforehand, cost £14+ for 1 adult 2 kids. When we got there there was a queue out the door due to the booking system, got in and it was mayhem, too busy and not enough changing rooms or lockers. We waited and waited and finally got a changing room, it was reasonably clean can't complain about that. Pool temp I found too cold, I was freezing, my oldest went on the slide and we all enjoyed the waves. They need to keep the doors closed and warm the place up a bit, after around an hour we were too cold and all got out, unfortunately most people had the same idea and so again there was a stampede for changing rooms, we had to use a smaller 1 person dressing room and take turns, we were freezing when we left. Overall it was too busy and not enough facilities, Probably won't return in a hurry.
Positive experience: Swimming centre in Hyde. Good place for kids. It has a large pool area, one water slide, water rapids and a wave pool. It can get quite busy but there’s enough space in the pool. Large changing area with lockers, for a pound, returned after use. Small cafe area with a few tables and chairs and a window to watch the pool area. Chips £1.95, latte £2.90 etc.. friendly staff. Large car park outside. Wheel chair accessible. A Good, clean, place, will come again
Fantastic experience: We take our 2 year old son every Saturday for the Wally Walrus session and have done since he was about 6 months old. He absolutely loves it as do we. Changing rooms always clean, staff always lovely. The have a sing song about half way into the session and bring Wally out, the children get an opportunity to hug/hi 5/ say hi to him and then they play hide and seek all around the pool and changing area. It's great!
Fantastic experience: This pool is starting to look a little bit dated but it’s still great fun. I loved it going as a kid and my son loves it now always fall always warm always welcoming
Fantastic experience: Brilliant classes and the staff are always very helpful and supportive Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their roles
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place. Have a membership for swimming. There are more opportunities to be active. Reception staff is very helpful.
Positive experience: Serves a purpose - good when the slides and waves are on. Wally Walrus is a good session for little ones too. There are better water parks around but it’s local for us and better than a standard swimming pool
Positive experience: Love this place, grandkids love it more , wave machine, 1 water slide ,and my favourite is the fast moving water tunnel. One hour and half at a great price. Great free parking lots of spaces
Positive experience: An okay place for the kids. The problems are that the water is colder nowadays than it used to be so have to get the little un out a lot sooner than we used to, and there aren't enough changing areas so it can be quite stressful before and after the swim.
Fantastic experience: The whole family had a great time too! Make sure you reserve a place before going as there are lots of people
Fantastic experience: Enough to entertain the family for a couple of hours. The chips, nuggets and gravy is a delicious post fun treat to.
Negative experience: My daughter currently goes to this baths for swimming lessons and I'm having none stop problems at the moment on 2 of her lessons out of 4 she has drowned one instance a instructor had to jump in after her. And after me telling them she is unable to swim unaided and 2 different instructor told her to take of her armbands.
Fantastic experience: Early morning swim, pool and surroundings always clean, the changing rooms are big and plenty room, no wait 1st thing in the morning
Negative experience: I can't fault the place. My 5 year old son absolutely loves the swim slide and waves sessions. We have been 4 times in the last 2 months, However, the cancellation policy is disgusting, I have had to cancel this morning due to my son being ill, There is no refund and can't be transferred to another day. Because of this, I will not be returning.
Negative experience: The pool was very small apart from one slide there were no other attractions
Positive experience: Great fun, family changing rooms are very limited in the fun pool area
Fantastic experience: Two of my children had a hugely enjoyable 90 minutes here recently. They particularly loved the giant water slide. And, at just £4.05 each for ages five to sixteen, it was really excellent value for money too. For the less splash-inclined such as myself, there was a functional and wholly adequate if far from luxurious seating and viewing area adjacent to the in-house café complete with that modern-day essential - free wi-fi!
Fantastic experience: Love it! Kids love it too, lazy river, slide waves and sprinklers too lots going on. Got shallow and deep end. Very clean, lots of changing rooms and a cafe when they get hungry.
Positive experience: Great little pool for the kids, 1 slide, wave pool in the main pool and a little rapids for you to swim round. Plenty of lockers available. You’re best getting out 5-10 mins before your time if you want a changing room when you get out as it gets busy and you may have to wait 5-10 mins for one if you leave it last minute. All in all a good place to visit.
Fantastic experience: I went to Hyde for the Early Bird Swim for the first time on Friday. I used to go to Ashton but sadly they closed on 3rd September. I found the pool and the facilities very good. I am lucky that I am able to travel to Hyde unlike some members of the Ashton facility
Negative experience: Hi, Child’s name: Ibrāhim Session: Saturday 9:30 I would like to cancel my son's swimming lessons. I have already canceled the Direct Debit payments and do not wish to continue. Unfortunately, my 6-year-old son did not receive much support. He was a complete beginner, while the other children already knew how to swim. He was consistently left behind with minimal or no support. Additionally, there was only one lady instructor who seemed busy with the children who already had basic swimming skills. I am disappointed with the level of attention he received. I believe it would be beneficial to have two instructors for the kids – one for those who already know the basics and another to provide more support to children like my son. I am unhappy and will not recommend your centre to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Love it. Amazing for kids. Pool is sooooo warm. Cheaper than most places too and lots more fun
Fantastic experience: I took a 5 year old, he'd not experienced water slide, rapids and waves before and was apprehensive at first, but soon got into the swing of things and didn't want to leave. There is a café and plenty of parking at the centre, for younger children note there is a minimum 1.1 metre (3' 7") minimum height.
Fantastic experience: A great place to go for some water fun, and not too expensive. Showers and changing rooms chaotic. Would recommend booking online.
Positive experience: Lovely place but I will give only 3stars because very rude staff!!!! Discussing, they should be fired! And too many people for 1sesion . Not even changing rooms and showers
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place for all the family, and prices are reasonable too , great swim , waves , slide , could do with a few more changing cabins , cafe area was spacious and staff very friendly, food was basic but tasty
Positive experience: Visiting Manchester, staying in Oldham. My daughter wanted to go swimming so we tried to find somewhere with at least one flume. Hyde active was a basic pool and kinda small but it did have a flume and waves and a small rapids area. The changing area is fairly small. We had to book online as they limit the number of people they let in at each session and you get 90mins. The pool was fairly clean although there were a number of floating bits of paper bands that they give you when you go in. Could be worse I suppose. All round not a bad a experience. Adequate for our needs and made my daughter happy. You do need £1 coins for the lockers for securing your belongings.
Fantastic experience: Went for first time with my son and friends. 1 hour is enough uts small but worth the price will be visiting again
Fantastic experience: Excellent swimming facilities Clean Helpful staff Reasonably priced Booking essential in the school holidays but queue moved quick A great family day out!!
Fantastic experience: Excellent pool. Very clean and kids felt safe. The water could be a little warmer, but it wasn't bad at all. We'll certainly pay more visits to it.
Negative experience: The receptionist ( Naomi ) was very obnoxious today. Naomi has served me before and no issues however today she was very rude over a booking I made online. Yes there was a very big queue and sometimes we have to work under pressure in life, that’s no reason to be disrespectful and talk down on us.
Fantastic experience: Value for money with a lazy river, waves, and a slide good family fun. You need to book online to guarantee entry. The only downside is the booking process online. It's a bit long-winded and has a time out to which you ha e to start again.
Fantastic experience: Kids loved it and good value for money with the family ticket for swimming, canteen was reasonable prices and chips were fresh and really hot and the portion size was good. Did have to book the day before as all places were booked on the Saturday so booked for the Sunday 11am session and it was quite busy
Fantastic experience: Kids love this pool, it's quite good and you get 90 min, not like other pools 60 min.
Fantastic experience: Great place, Kids love it! Especially the slide & wave sessions!
Positive experience: I used to go here when I was 5, 20 years later still running strong. My little girl loved it!
Fantastic experience: First visit today - Half term holiday. Easy to book and easy to get in and changed. Toilets were a tad grim but better than other places we've visited. The pool is ace and my 9 year old little boy loved it. We loved the wave machine and slide. We'll definitely be visiting again!
Fantastic experience: Very clean and well managed. Session started on time and lifeguards seemed very professional in their approach. Would definitely recommend as a good value, enjoyable experience.
Positive experience: The finger print scanners never work for me and is a right faff, but the gym and the staff are lovely.
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit, lovely lane swim pool and my grandchildren like going to the leisure pool plus they love their swimming lessons
Positive experience: Excellent fun pool for the kids a little pricey I thought for an hour and half swim 2 adults 28 month old £14
Positive experience: So the staff are lovely however the old pool isn't sufficient for aqua classes due to changing / shower area , the lockers are mostly broke and due to class sizes their isn't enough changing rooms bit of a shame when the rest of the centre has been renovated
Fantastic experience: Clean, tidy, and excellent customer service. I highly recommend booking online though before you get there. We had one upset 4 year old because we didn't know you could book online, and the slide section was fully booked. We did, however, use the quiet pool for just swimming with her.
Fantastic experience: Nice fun pool for children to have a splash and play. Has a slide, waves and a small lazy river type pool part. Food and drink available Inc vending machines.
Positive experience: The kids do like it but it's tired and the changing areas and looks smell terribly. But yes, fun for the under 12 set for an hour or so.
Positive experience: Great for kids, big slides. Only a bit old fashion, but it's tidy and always clean
Negative experience: We used to come here, but now you need to book in advance. We came here long distance, they just refuse entrance, because we didn't book. Very rude receptionist woman.
Positive experience: Great pool for kids on a wet weekend. Ring up and book in advance. Changing rooms could be cleaner. Plenty of discarded plasters on the floor.
Positive experience: Loved this place. Super fun. Only issue is that on the website we were told we didn’t have to book but when we arrived we had to but it was ok because there were spaces. The waves are really good so is the slide and the lazy river.
Fantastic experience: My 5 year old son has swimming lessons here on a Thursday night. It's been great watching him grow in ability and confidence. Thank you Kirsty
Positive experience: I had gone with my friends here. It is a small pool but the waves are fun and the slide is awesome . It has a canteen and lots of space to change with lockers and a shower. There were many families with small kids and it's a good day out with friends.
Fantastic experience: Only problem is that its usually fully booked when i want to go so book early. Excellent pool though
