Positive experience: Can be very busy at peak times,alot of waiting around to use equipment

Negative experience: I am ifbb pro Classic physique. I liked the gym clean classy . brought my friend to have a look and wait for me in the gym. The employee of Evening period told me that you have he have to pay ten pounds for you friend or he leave. It was a very cold day and my friend had to go out . Bad treatment

Fantastic experience: Great

Positive experience: One of the better ones I've been to.

Negative experience: 9 out of 10 times no workout is being done just phones being used, do that outside the gym

Negative experience: I have been coming to jd gym Widnes for just about two years. The range of equipment is okay, I have been to a few other jd gym down south an the equipment seems to be alot better an more of a variety. The gym gets very hot, as I train in the evening there's no staff to ask to adjust the air con. I avoid going into the changing room due to the stench of sweat an urine an combination of heat hitting you full force in the face not very pleasant at all

Positive experience: Always a great experience , the staff are so helpful , today debut on the yoga at 10-30 am can’t wait for tomorrow

Fantastic experience: I'm a local gymaphobe. Go to all in the Widnes area. This gym hands down wins everytime. I use the others as I have some friends over there but they will all be members soon of JD - the king of gyms

Negative experience: Disappointing with the standards of the equipment. Have complained consistently about concerns surrounding the treadmills. These fail constantly by cutting out mid run. They appear to overheat and stop. This has caused one or two minor muscular injuries to me. I have got to the point where I wish to cancel my contract due to the lack of concern by staff.

Positive experience: nothing special

Negative experience: Gym is fine enjoy training in there BUT it gets very hot as the air on is practically useless this isn’t the main reason for the low review. The male changing rooms/toilets are the worst I have ever seen in a gym the smell is unbearable absolutely stinks of pure sweat and urine if there is anything that’s going to make me leave this gym that would be it. It’s absolutely disgusting JD you need to sort this out because my review isn’t the only one stating this problem yet still nothing is getting done about it. My review would be 4 stars if this was sorted

Fantastic experience: Really good gym theres only one issue for me,people should carry small hand towels around with them. There used to be cleaning stations but there are none now so some machines are full of sweat from the previous user its abit rank and not fair to the ladies training there

Negative experience: I have been going to this gym for the past 2 years, until the last 4 months the gym had increase more personal fitness staff and reduced the cleaning staff!! Now they are to increase the cost of membership this month with no cleaning staff! Not sure I want to carry on using this gym due the lack of cleanliness in the changing room. Look as it haven't had a mop job in many months in the changing room!! Think covid gonna be coming back soon!! Come on get your acts together it's not you have a swimming pool to clean!!

Negative experience: Nice gym, but like many of the JD gyms it's extremely warm in there. It's April now and walking in from outside you feel the heat hit you. I don't know if it's a money thing but they refuse to have the Aircon switched on. It can make workouts even in a t shirt and shorts very uncomfortable.

Fantastic experience: I come here sometimes with one of my Clients as they are a gym fanatic, and there was me saying I did visit a Jim once a week but he is my Uncle but JDGyms and their equipment are amazing

Negative experience: Although the equipment at JD Gym Widnes is nice and new, the overall experience is marred by the disappointing state of the toilet facilities. Despite the promising start, the unpleasant odor of urine permeated the area, indicating a lack of cleanliness and maintenance. This aspect significantly detracted from the otherwise positive impression of the gym. Improvement in restroom hygiene is crucial for ensuring a more pleasant and hygienic environment for users.

Negative experience: DISGUSTING On the night of April 2, 2024, between 10-11 pm, during my training session with my partner, an unsettling incident occurred. A man, reportedly named George, he was wearing leggings created and engaged in a heated argument with a girl wearing a hijab. The argument escalated as he pushed her whilst on the gym premises , displaying arrogant , intimidating behavior. Following this, he proceeded to verbally abuse another individual who was simply focusing on their training. It's imperative that action is taken promptly to address such behavior and ensure that individuals like George are prohibited from further participation in the gym to prevent any incidents to happen simultaneous to this in the future.

Positive experience: Some good classes

Negative experience: Around 5:30 p.m. (31 Dec 2023) someone stole my black Nike jacket. Inside was my Barclays credit card. Beware of thieves at this gym.

Negative experience: Great gym, just too hot...constantly. Air con not good in the summer then heating on too high in winter, can't get breath in there.

Fantastic experience: Good atmosphere. Really clean, excellent up to date equipment ( treadmill is in miles which I like!!), lovely soothing lighting and changing rooms are like being in a way more expensive spa.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym and classes. My partner goes for the boxing, freeweights and all the weight loading kit while I go for the classes as they do yoga every day now, sometimes twice a day and from October 2023 onwards they're having pilates on 3 times a week. Was 2 previously. Now I'll be able to alternate yoga and pilates every day. Every Sunday I have a session with Personal Trainer Matthew too who does some boxercise with me to keep fit. Yoga John Malloy who does yoga on Saturdays is the best instructor ever. So knowledgeable and would like to see him teach Tai Chi there too.

Fantastic experience: Kept clean and tidy. Good equipment and plenty of different options. Different classes ran through the day/week. Love it for the 24/7 access.

Fantastic experience: Not long joined, seems good so far, not too busy, clean, all machines and equipment working fine.

Positive experience: Good gym for the price, would be nice if it had a bigger sauna and a steam room would happily pay at bit more for that

Positive experience: Great gym, lots of kit and great variety of kit from plate loaded to pin . Loads of cardio and a functional area. Changing rooms were very clean and theres a sauna in each changing room. Only thing thats disappointing is how much the members leave plates on kit or on the floor. It takes seconds to put your plates away.

Positive experience: 4 for one reason only. Sauna drainage is dry because it is on top of the slope ‍♂️ and the whole area in and out of Sauna is flooded .massive puddle of sweat and stinks the whole area.

Fantastic experience: Love it, love it, love it. Love the tyre flip, crossfit area, dedicated leg and bum area and sled track. Personal trainer Lewis is one of the best in the staff team. Heard Tai Chi is coming soon which would be wonderful

Fantastic experience: Gym is great. Stays fairly tidy and clean considering it's a bit busy one. It is by far the best 24hr type gym and the value for what you get is great such as saunas and yoga everyday. Love all the weights kit they have too. My favourite is the glute thrust machine, squat machine and pendulum leg press

Positive experience: The main issue I have with this gym is the AIR CON. It gets ridiculously hot and because its underground there is no airflow. The air con system is awful and needs replacing, the air is stale and affects your workout! The gym is also very busy after 5pm. But through the rest of the day it is okay. Can get the equipment you want most of the time. The gym has a good range of equipment and plenty of cable machines and attachments. It would be good if they replaced a decline bench press for another flat bench press. The squat racks are awkward to use as the hight increments are too spread out. The preacher curl equipment is too harsh an angle (they are almost vertical) and I have used better ones. Other than that the rest of the equipment is excellent.

Positive experience: Compare to other commercial gyms in UK i will choose JD Gym. Sauna, cardio machines, cleanliness are the best. I can not give 5 stars as lights are not located properly, especially on dead lift section and also showers really smells which indicates for me high level of breathable bacteria which can effect your lounges

Fantastic experience: Not goner lye ..been coming here from day 1 since its opened ...Best gym around ...sooo I had to get a job here and help out with the cleaning :) get alot of complements off the members that come in the mornings. On how clean the gym is and how fresh the mens toilets have gotten :) love working here ..and the members here are amazing and the staff :) Love it 10 stars

Negative experience: They have 6 showers at this gym and every single one is freezing cold. The showers have been cold for few months and everttime you tell the staff, they just ignore you. It's ridiculous

Negative experience: JD gyms don’t look after or maintain their equipment, to the point of malfunction and injury. I’ve made a million complaints/ suggestions but nothing changes. Everything is worn, dirty and not maintained so they can function. Prime example is the trx they have. They’ve be sued at a drop of a hat. Don’t get me started on the “air con”.

Positive experience: Great gym, loads of equipment, friendly staff, clean & excellent value for money. It gets really busy so where possible I avoid peak times, the main issue is the aircon. It is unbearably hot, I have felt like I was going to pass out with the heat many times. I take an electrolyte before training & put my water in the freezer but it doesn’t make much difference with that heat. It is affecting my workouts as I cannot seem to progress due to the high temperatures, I am currently maintaining but in the cooler months I can improve endurance. It is such a shame because I wouldn’t mind paying more each month in order for nice cool aircon, it really lets the place down.

Fantastic experience: Great gym.

Positive experience: Very well stocked gym with up to date and fairly new equipment. I wouldn't say that there is anything I struggle to train. They also have a track for sleds and various activities which other gyms don't provide or allow which is great. The only real issue that holds this gym back from a 5* for me personally is how busy it tends to be during sociable hours considering it's a fairly small floor plate for a gym. More an issue of being the best option for a commercial gym in the area and having an oversaturation of members.

The gym is always so clean/tidy and when equipment breaks or needs work, it’s done quickly. Members just gets on with what they are doing….smashing it. Keep it up JD Widnes.

Fantastic experience: Very good 24 hour gym. Loads and loads of equipment - I go to several other JD's and this had much more equipment than others. Aircon isn't the best (think it's on a timer so not always on). Pretty busy even around 5am although as so much equipment haven't had to wait around. Deffo a 5 star for me!

Fantastic experience: Excellent, I signed up today and I'm hoping to lose weight. My self confidence is low so I wanted to get into better shape. I was scared about people looking at me but the staff member who was in there was great and no one even looked or cared about what I was doing. Overall I enjoyed my experience and the equipment is great. Will deffo be attending as often as I can to work out to lose weight and tone up ☺️

Fantastic experience: Probably the best gym I've ever been in, very clean, a substantial amount of equipment making it easy to get on things even at peak times. Definitely recommend the PTs too, they bring a very likeable and friendly environment with them and will always ensure you reach your goals.

Fantastic experience: This gym is friendly, plenty of equipment in the huge complex, lots of classes to join in with throughout the day, I especially like the boot camps with Zak and Jack and also Zaks personal training group classes. Plenty of free parking and the management staff really listen to their clients and help to change the timetables to suit the customers needs, they do it with a continuing improvement mentality trying to make it the best gym around and nothing is too much trouble, in my opinion it is and I live 20 minute drive away

Fantastic experience: This is my 2nd time going here and its great to go here all the equipment and gym itself is always clean and theres spray around to wipe down the equipment after use, changing rooms are clean aswell x

Positive experience: Went to 2 classes tonight, as there was a open week. Did the body pump class, which was brilliant. Then straight after shbam class, I've never done this class before. As I'm a member at the Warrington JD gym. But it was amazing and loved it. David took the classes, he's a brilliant friendly guy!! Shame I'm not gonna get to do the class again. But if there's another open week........... I'll be there!!
