Fantastic experience: Loads of parking, decent changing and toilet facilities, loads of lockers. I like that you’re not confronted by equipment as soon as you get through the door because at busy hours that’d be way too overwhelming. The kit is everything you need to be fair, not fancy but if you’re there to train and know the importance of fundamentals then you’re sorted really. There’s enough variety in both cardio and strength equipment and well spaced out too. Yes there could be more but there always could be, and for the size of the gym I think it’s spot on so you aren’t getting your leg extensions caught in someone else’s seated row! There’s a variety of classes and repetitions of classes available throughout the day and week which is great for getting the body to respond and adapt to the training. The trainers are approachable and knowledgable too. They are different to each other in my opinion which is great as there are varied ways they offer motivation which appeals to different types of people. Also, I like the initiatives this gym has like the recent mental health awareness day messages around the gym and the fundraising for charities such as the British Heart Foundation. Overall, I recommend this gym and prefer it way more than others which are local to me

Fantastic experience: I have just started going back to PureGym and I'm really enjoying the experience. It feels like a good, safe environment and the staff are very friendly. A special thanks to Harvey who showed me how to use the machines and get more confidence with weights and also to Mo for the very enjoyable kettlebell class.

Fantastic experience: Impressed - the gym is well lit, there is plenty of kit and isn’t too busy early in the mornings. Friendly staff - during my tour before joining Mo was very helpful and friendly. Showers and changing room are in good nick too. Generally excellent value for money.

Positive experience: Great gym and very spacious. I’ve been coming religiously for the past year now. I have noticed the last few months the showers smelt of stagnant water or something which I did see signage about saying they’re aware of the problem. Sometimes I avoided getting a shower because it smelt so bad. The only other thing I’d knock it down on is the equipment is very basic, the hack squat machine is about as extra as is gets

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym I came for a day pass in December and have now joined here two weeks ago it is very spacious and has great matrix machinery and good free weights. I have to say the air con in this gym is absolutely fantastic which I am delighted with joining in the summer. I also like that everyone just minds there business in there as I know that I haven't had that same feeling in other gyms I have been in as I have gained alot of attention because I am extremely strong and I think that has gained an ego competition in other gyms I have been in the past which is wrong the only person anyone should be competing with is themselves. The only customer feedback I would like to give as I do know what I'm talking about is on the tricep pushdown cable machine opposite the free weight bench press the handle is far too high up to pull down as I am 6ft and if I struggle people shorter will extremely struggle and the other cable were you can adjust the height of the handle starting point I am too strong to use them because the weights aren't heavy enough. And my other critique is when using barbell shoulder shrugs on the squat racks near the smith machine on the left side of the gym the pole guides when put on the lowest one is still to high to perform shoulder shrugs on without me constantly hitting the steel poles with the barbell. My last feedback to improve the gym would be recommending some heavybags are installed in here and there is enough room for it and it is a fantastic form of cardio as I know because I practise martial arts weekly grappling and striking but still overall it is a fantastic gym.

Fantastic experience: I have used Widness Puregym for the classes while ive been on leave. I enjoyed Ryans classes the most out of all the different classes i went to. Due to him getting to know everyome in his class and identifying and encouraging those he knows be can get more out of by making exercises more challenging for them. He gives positive feedback to every individual throughout everyclass. He is realt easy to engage with and his knowledge and experience goes a long way.

Positive experience: I wonder does the management realise this is 24/7 gym and often, gym is unstaffed. I would expect the Hazard Analysis being done for free weights area, yet in any PureGym I can't find safety bars that are at right height for chest press - the most dangerous exercise with weights, since load hangs over a head. Any muscle failure, distraction, slip of the bar and 80 -100 - 150kg load will crush the chest, head, ribs. Interestingly the only rack that could be used with safety bars for chest press, was recently removed from Widnes.
Hi, thank you for leaving us this review. A lot of our gyms do have unstaffed hours at certain times. There are red emergency call points located within all gyms should they need to be used. Fantastic experience: I never used to like the gym, used to avoid it as much as possible. Started going puregym and to Declan's classes, as well as having him as a PT. He is a credit to puregym, not only is he really friendly and approachable but also really knowledgeable with a great sense of humour (needs it for us!). His classes are always fun and challenging but not too much so that they become discouraging. I actually now look forward to the classes (which is not something I thought would ever say about exercise classes).He keeps each class fresh and different from the last. His PT sessions are harder but also fun, he knows how to balance professionalism as well as how to make it fun. Very clear instructions on how to do set exercises. I have always held back from PT sessions but I am so glad that choose to do PT sessions with Declan, could not imagine doing them with anyone else. I just feel sorry for him having to put up with us!! Would 110% recommend him to anyone looking for PT/classes.

Positive experience: Is a big gym , unfortunately doesn’t have many kits like the Warrington center and gets busy very quickly, you just need to hunt some machines.. If you double few kits like chest fly machine, cable fly , leg press /extension would be boss! Unfortunately I haven’t seen any paper towels and cleaning solution..

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend this gym enough. Friendly, fab classes and really good approachable PTs. I have been a member of quite a few gyms over the years all of which I’ve found an effort to go to. But I literally miss the place the days I don’t go. My favourite classes are dance with Sarah body tone with Kirsty and Cycle with Kirsty or Alex.

Positive experience: Good gym with range of equipment however could do with a second flat bench press since teens like to stay on this for a while. Another issue as well is that the toilets are always disgusting with urine all over the floor, inside and outside of the cubicle, and even on the wall (it seems to be anywhere but in the toilet). Was a nuisance when I went in after my shower and stepped in it, had to get another one. Quite annoying since I seen one of the janitors sitting on their phone not doing much, and toilets don't seem to be cleaned regularly.

Positive experience: An ok Gym but full of lazy people who can't can't be bothered to put their weights back. Dumbbell rack a joke , weights mixed up all over the place. Worst gym I've been in for this

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. Positive experience: A smaller gym than the one over the river in Runcorn. Equipment is much closer together, which saves a lot of wandering round. Plenty of treadmills for those that don't like to walk or run in the real world.

Negative experience: Sick of washing my car due to the extremely poor car park surface, cement washed up from the block paving.

Positive experience: Went as a one off with a friend who comes here. It's a decent gym, very large and lots of machinery. Not alot of atmosphere though and if you need a drink, the only water station I saw was at the front door, which is a pain if you're mid set because you have to walk so far away someone will just take your space. Huge carpark though

Negative experience: Terrible, I’ve been a loyal customer for close to 10 years and I before the pandemic i started to use a bolt on that allowed me to visit Widnes and only Widnes other then my Runcorn that took my payments from £15.99 to £19.99 and since the pandemic you’ve been taking the higher amount but not allowing me to attend Widnes and saying I have to pay £21.99 if I wish too, because the amount I’ve been paying doesn’t exists anymore, but why have you still been taking it out of my account?

Positive experience: Just joined again . Decent seems more organised someway was a member there a few years ago never felt right . Has a much better feeling about it now ? All ages and all levels of fitness going . See no reason to try another gym up to now .

Fantastic experience: Rejoined after 3 year absence. Not changed a lot but very clean, friendly and loads of equipment and classes. There always seems to be equipment free even during busy periods. Still early days but enjoying it so far

Positive experience: Good gym with a good Spin class this morning. Nice, clean showers and changing room. But, as discussed with Sarah the gym manager, the Gents showers temperature is far too hot!
Positive experience: Great local gym close to home for my early morning workouts, as I've recently moved to the area. However it could do with a few new more updated machines as some look a little tired / worn. But apart from that its a good spacious gym!

Positive experience: Fantastic gym! Got pretty much everything you need. Gets a bit packed Monday-Wednesday thought and makes certain equipment (deadlift platform and Bench presses) really hard to get, as well as there not being enough mirror to cover the row of benches.

Our gyms are very popular and can become busy, especially at peak times! The busyness does fluctuate throughout the day, and from day-to-day. We have implemented a section to the website and the app which informs our members how many people are in the gym at that time and a graph to show the previous busyness of the gym on certain dates for comparison which we have found has really helped our members plan their workouts. Fantastic experience: Nice gym great equipment and good atmosphere
Fantastic experience: Can get busy but very clean and tidy
Negative experience: No social distance and no facemasks Went down, everyone leaving with no facemasks, people entering in without facemasks. People training no social distancing. People who weren't working out didn't have facemasks. Last night there were 4 lads around 1 machine without a care in the world. What is the point of having rules when no one cares? People just don't care anymore, yet they will be crying if they pass Covid to one of their family members and will then start calling for everyone to do more. Absolute joke and has lead me to seriously consider cancelling my membership. If you want to work out safer, consider buying a treadmill. At least then you can work out safely!
Fantastic experience: Great place to work out at any time
Positive experience: First impressions of refurb Treadmills are out of calibration were they ever checked ?? some are joggers at 7khp and some are leisurely walks which means faster speeds have more of an error Arm Curls on seats by big mirror My god when the back rest is vertical the seat dips so much I cant see my torso below the neck! As the dumbells block any reflection That leads to wholesale moving of weights for people to get a view of themselves and and unkempt set up where equipment is parked/ left were it was moved to. Old dead lift area in the corner Why change it ? That area was perfect for dead lifts with a close mirror Now any bar has to be unloaded moved outside the safety elbows and reloaded Reversing a tiresome procedure to offload plus the weights are now in contact with the ground making it harder to unload The other areas' by the sledge are too far away from mirrors Will you ever state why the block paving on the carpark cant be refurbed ??? Its a disgrace when it rains . And technically a traffic accident .When it causes somone to get drenched by a passing vehicule. Far too many leg exercises at the expense of replacing valuable arm/chest machines ie sit down chest curl with the pads Puregym I.T taking the attendance graph off the Desktop version and concentrating on a poor app based one that is near useless.
Negative experience: Says 24 hours on google, arrived at 9:30pm and is shut, even though it says it's open.

Fantastic experience: Been using Widnes Pure gym for about 18 months, after joining from another. Love it, nice staff and no egos.
Positive experience: missing bits of kit in the functional fitness part of the gym such as a whole row of dumbells , medicine balls and heavy bags.

Negative experience: Since the rerub, its just gotten worse. Still alot of the kit is worn out in general and its a cramped space. Take a look at JD or the smaller gym in widnes.
