Byw'n Iach Arfon (Fitness, Swimming & Sports) Caernarfon

Fantastic experience: I didn’t go to the leisure centre so I can’t pass comment on how good or bad it is, but the plus side is on the I leisure centres Carpark where there is a 50kw fast charge EV charger available. I know it has a CCS charger connector but don’t remember if there was a Chadamo sorry.

Fantastic experience: Good gym. Could do with better parking often car park is full yet the gym is empty somehow. Could do with additional lat pull-down machines. Could also do with some newer machines such as an assisted pull up machine.

Fantastic experience: Great facility. Spacious pool. Always friendly staff. It is not expensive and there is also a fairly functional gym that I use. And there is a large enough park area. There is access for the disabled.

Positive experience: I go to the tennis centre gym everyweek and its a good gym everything you need staff are great , but why on earth when you pay £37 a month do you close on bank holidays ? Dedicated people dont take a day off but now i am forced to take a day off as my days off work are thursday and sunday and i cant go Thursday coz they are closed due to jubilee other gyms never close because they have a dedication to the customers who pay the monthly charge butnow i lose nine days in a year due to bank holiday

Negative experience: I used to love using the facilities at Byw N Iach Caernarfon before the pandemic. My gym membership had then froze since. Did not get an email or newsletter to explain that they would start charging me from September 1st, 2021. Charged me without my permission for 6 months when I clearly not reactivated my membership, £24.20. I tried to phone Caernarfon gym, plus the Concerns and Complaints team. They never want to answer the phone. Yet after messaging them online, they replied very quickly and saying basically they would not pay me back at all. Also basically explaining to me in way that they have done nothing wrong. What should have happened was I should have had an email to say that my gym membership has restarted. I did not receive that email or any other notifications, they just reactivated my membership and charged me £145.20 altogether. Taking £24.20 from my bank account each month. I will never use Byw N Iach facilities ever again. They never want to help you when comes to money rather than health. When it comes to money, they just want your money and they do not care about you at all. Also they never answer the phone, even before the pandemic began. Other people have said that when they try to phone as well, they never answer. I have noticed that the staff sit in the staff room rather than answering the phone.

Negative experience: The changing rooms are very dirty. And it's not that they are not upgraded, the point is that they are poorly cleaned. There is very hot water in the showers - I wasn't able to wash my hair, and a small child there was just crying and couldn't take such a hot shower. Every single time water is boiling. Mentioned it to the front desk, but no action was taken. The staff themselves (reception in the pool) are rude and not friendly. It's good that there is a swimming pool and gym in Caernarfon, but really bad that for the high cost we get a very poor quality of services provided. Local people deserve better service!

Negative experience: Changing rooms are shocking. They haven't changed or been upgraded since I was at school over 25 years ago. Grubby and grimy.

Positive experience: Keeps you healthy and also there is a new cafe now and they do sell nice food that is warm and also they serve hot and cold drinks

Fantastic experience: The first day I went to this gym I was a small lad. A year later and after much blood, sweat and tears I am still a small lad ~ a small *gym* lad.

Positive experience: Grate place for swimming and playing squash. The staff communicate in both Welsh and English medium and are friendly. The free swim on Sunday is a grate time to go with your friends for a laugh on the pool.

Positive experience: Just my sons birthday party there, bouncy castle, toddler tumble and a specialist trampolining session. Amazing party. We also had our food in the main hall, which set up by the staff. Great 1 1/2 party.
