Leith Victoria Swim Centre

Fantastic experience: Fantastic pool, superb staff. I support a lady who uses a wheelchair and had not been swimming for many years. From the very first enquiry about the logistics of mobility aids etc to actual getting in the pool every single member of staff we met went over and above to be helpful, considerate and respectful. We had an absolutely brilliant time in the pool and will definitely be back. I would definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: Went in on Thursday - really friendly staff on reception ! Made sure I had water. The gym ️‍♂️ staff showed me how to use the weights machines. Will definitely be coming back 5 stars

Positive experience: I have used swimming facility. The water is not clean I got a fungal infection after I started swimming here, it happened to a lot of my friends as well, i guess water is not treated properly. Stopped going there now. Sauna facility is good.

Negative experience: Leith pool discriminates on the basis of sex on Saturday late afternoon (only women can enter). There is no equivalent male only session. The council is breaking equalities legislation. The information on the website is also inaccurate. The website says the female only swim time is between 3pm to 4pm on Saturdays but when I came after 4pm on a Saturday I was still denied entry.

Fantastic experience: Good equipment, excellent and diverse classes, fairly clean and organized. Highly recommend to everyone.

Fantastic experience: I live near a different Edinburgh Leisure and specifically come here for Barry’s body pump class. I’m not big into workout classes and since a friend brought me along, I’ve been going every week. Barry’s brilliant, makes the exercises accessible, good fun and never pressures you to do more if you’re not feeling it that day. I upgraded my membership to go to his class every week, the gym is lucky to have him.

Negative experience: Inflexible, unreasonable treatment of a cancer patient who just needed some gentle stretching. Do not visit

Negative experience: The price for two people (swim & sauna) is £20!!! (Edinburgh council is a lunatic!) The pool is small and cold like the Arctic ocean! Small car park and only 3 private changing rooms in the ladies zone. Highly not recommended! Outside of Edinburgh is much cheaper and you have access to more facilities like a steam room and a jacuzzi.

Negative experience: Good only for pensioners and people with disabilities. Many restrictions for children who want to develop their skills - no fins or diving toys, no sauna. Disappointed.

Positive experience: Lovely pool and really nice studio for yoga classes. Could do with greater percentage of blue badge spaces give the limited parking with good public transport for the able bodied

Fantastic experience: Real nice sauna and steam area, 25m pool. Edinburgh Leisure is the best. Some of the staff are a bit strange and not the happiest bunch but I won't let them affect the overall star rating

Negative experience: Sauna and steam rooms are not hot enough due to low temp and people going in and out every 5 min , swiming pool is nice ... would rather go somewhere not so busy to really enjoy the full health suite

Fantastic experience: My favourite Victorian pool in Edinburgh. The people, the staff and the fantastic setting. Super clean round the pool.

Negative experience: Very unpleasant experience visiting this swim centre. I would highly recommended visiting any other of the Edinburgh leisure centres just not this one. The staff are terribly rude, it doesn’t get cleaned periodically through out the day and it isn’t looked after at all. AVOID.

Positive experience: Fajnie, ale lepiej sprawdzić rozkład zajęć, bo są umówione godziny dla rodzin z dziećmi itp, kiedy basen jest niedostępny dla przypadkowych pływaków. Sauny spoko: sucha i parowa.

Positive experience: Swimming lessons are great BUT gives young children and parents a false sense of safety. The kids are not taught ISR skills which can be life saving...my wee one is completely use to having the arm bands which floats her body in a vertical way not possible to do it without them even when the water is very low if she falls she does know how to stand up! parentspreventingchildho…. Where can I get ISR lessons in Edinburgh, would the centre be able to offer this even if one to one lessons?

Negative experience: The steam room felt dirty, small and there was barely any actual steam just hot air. It's more like a warm, damp, dark room than a steam room. Might just be the worst one I ever been to.

Positive experience: Really friendly helpful staff and the gym is very clean. The car park is limited and I suspect being used by people who work locally and aren't facility users because it's always full or nearly even when the place is quiet... except at weekends when you can park even when the place is busy.

Fantastic experience: I do the fitness classes here all the time l. All instructors are kind, approachable. The only issue is they are not telling me when classes are cancelled other than that amazing venue. Great atmosphere

Negative experience: Poor hygiene, noone uses a towel to sit on in a sauna neither slippers and the staff are OK with that! No rules whatsoever which is shocking, facilities like showers, steam room are not being cleaned properly and some maybe never. I do like most classes and some staff are very friendly but some poolside staff are quite rude.

Fantastic experience: I come here to use the gym, its clean staff are really helpful and nice. Plus the gym is tidy and equipment is up to date. Pool is small, but there is a steam room and sauna ( sauna is on the small side ). Would highly recommend a gym and swim here . Also there is a little cafe at the front entrance via junction street.

Negative experience: It was my first visit today I'm quite disappointed. I booked for line swimming the pool was absolutely busy I never managed to swimm. Staff and front desk not helpful at all, actually a lady who was a regular show me around!! ( change rooms, shower, sauna etc) Not worth it.

Fantastic experience: It's a lovely pool, it's an old Victorian swimming pool that's been refurbished to a really high standard. It's a 25m pool this loads of changing places around the sides. The staff are really helpful welcoming and friendly. During covid you have to book your swim.

Negative experience: £35 to join not to go to the gym that the joining fee and the gym is £32 for a tiny gym with mostly just cardio machines it's a rip off go to a better place for a better price dont go here!

Fantastic experience: I'm SO happy to be able to swim again! The staff were so helpful and explained how the new rules would be. I do wish the lanes could be slow and medium, but I get why it's slow and fast (just pushes me to go faster and have a better workout I guess!)

Positive experience: This was my first visit back, after the pool refurbishment, which lasted the 6 months it was meant to. Totally impressed. They've managed to keep the size of the pool the same. They've redecorated and refreshed everything. The sauna and steamroom are much better and look better, without losing any of the space. Well Done. Edinburgh Leisure

Positive experience: Not the best place to go for a swim the changing facilities are inadequate and have some of them in the pool area ,the showers were not hot, but the changing rooms were too hot, I left there sweating after getting dressed and could have done with another shower. I went after finishing work once and was not allowed in as it was swimming lessons for kids there was 5 minutes left of that period and the pool was empty! By the time I would have taken to get changed, it would have been passed the lesson time, I would not recommend this pool to anyone who wants a decent swimming area as it is a narrow pool and it is badly set up for lane swimming

Positive experience: I'm a regular here. Good place for a swim, staff are lovely and know my name which is a nice personal approach to customer service. The only minor issue I have for here is that sometimes the online timetable doesn't specify swimming lessons or aquafit. I thinkIt make a huge difference if this was specified on the timetable, other than just 'Public Swimming. I'm usually served by a blonde gentleman with glasses who is always very nice.

Positive experience: It's old warm a good place for the elderly as the pool is warmer than the common wealth pool.

Positive experience: Gym review: it's a good gym with a lot of good free weights and cardio equipment. There's a leg press and separate glute machine (haven't seen those very often), 2 squat racks and dumbbells going up to 50kg. Slight issue in that the free weights area can get a bit cramped when busy as it's not very big, but they've done really well squeezing in what they could in the area. Would definitely recommend a visit.
