I would like to point out however, that the caravan you stayed in was not a Snowland Leisure caravan, and is privately owned. It might be pertinent to contact the caravan owner direct to discuss how the caravan let you down. You will be able to contact the owner via Airbnb; you can also leave a review for the caravan via Airbnb. It is often a little tricky to separate our site with a privately owned caravan when leaving a review. We would love for you to come back in the future, and maybe book one of our caravans, which i am sure you will be delighted with. Hi Yvonne, Thank you for your kind review. As a small, independent site, we don't have as many activities as the large franchises, but with so much beauty all around us; beaches you can walk to, rock pools to investigate, coastal paths, fishing villages, castles, stately homes, quiet coves, galleries etc etc we know the majority of guests come to experience and explore our wonderful county of Cornwall. We are glad you had a lovely rest, we think there is no better way to feel rejuvenated, than some sand between your toes and vitamin sea. We hope you are able to come back soon, where you will be most welcome :)

Many thanks for leaving a review for us; I would like to point out that you did not stay in one of our caravans, and it is privately owned and therefore, not reflective of our caravans. Our site has had the environment agency completing flood defence work on site since November 202. The work was supposed to be completed by April to ensure the site was in order for our 2022 season, however, the work has suffered from setbacks. Although this work is not being carried out by us, we apologise for any disarray you experienced on site. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control. Our swimming pool is smaller than those found at larger holiday parks and leisure centres, however, we are a small family run business, and most of our guests really enjoy the added extra of the indoor heated pool; furthermore, the pool requires no further cost to guests despite the rising energy costs we are all struggling with at present. Whilst our changing room cubicles are not massive (just standard sized), they are comfortable for 2 people and are not designed to fit an entire family in, furthermore, most guests return to the comfort of their caravan to shower and change, as it gives a ‘roomier’ experience. I would also like to reassure anyone reading the reviews that all guests to the bar are required to show proof of age before they get served. Without proof, they will not get served; furthermore, all bar staff are vigilant regarding this. I am sure that our 'regulars' will be chuffed to be described as 'local teens', and we shall pass your comments over to them, especially as the average age has to be 35! It would perhaps be pertinent not to judge others and merely presume people are underage, when they were categorically not. As with most bars, we have a juke box which most people enjoy. We also have regular live music, which again most people enjoy. We are unsure what night you visited to comment on the specific ‘loud music’, Nevertheless, we are incredibly fortunate to have a spacious and relaxing bar garden for those that find the juke box and live music too loud, therefore, you could have gone outside to enjoy the peace and tranquillity the bar garden offers. We are a small site, full of honest, hardworking individuals who have been struggling against the tide of covid, rising energy costs etc We do our best, and try and go above and beyond for our guests, and although you were not one of our guests, we appreciate all feedback as it strives us to be better - after all, is anyone perfect? As you didn't stay in one of caravans, it's impossible to comment on how much you paid, however, I am pretty sure it was considerably less than a 'polished' bigger site, however, the ‘polished’ look and bigger swimming pool come with a ‘polished and bigger’ price tag! Here at Snowlands, we believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we respect that, as long as its factual and honest. Furthermore, we would have appreciated the feedback in person, rather than you becoming one of the 'armchair warriors' that are really impacting the economic sustainability of the tourism and hospitality industry. I am sure you would agree that the location of our site is beautiful and there is so much to explore and experience, and although you didn’t mention this, we really do believe focusing on the positives is a far happier way to live. And personally, we all love working and living in our small part of Cornwall. We hope that future experiences don't let you down and disappoint - but please, don't judge and presume when leaving feedback, it can really damage the business and upset hardworking staff and owners. Start a conversation and you may see things from a different and positive perspective. We love our site, and are proud of all we are achieving in such difficult times. And maybe, our wonderful Cornish climate is making all our bar guests look so much younger than they actually are

Sadly, on this occasion, our best efforts to ensure your holiday was happy was impossible to achieve; this culminated in your verbal abuse of staff. We did our best to help you, but nothing we did was good enough. Remember, kindness wins :) Many thanks for your review – we appreciate both positive and constructive criticism. We strongly believe that criticism enables us to strive to be better, whilst the positive comments make all our hard work worthwhile. The positive comments are especially meaningful after the turbulent times our industry has faced. We feel very blessed that we have enabled guests to have a safe, secure and happy holiday, which is important to us. Our indoor heated swimming pool is an incredible asset to ourselves and our guests, most of whom really love using this facility (at no extra cost). Our play park is on a large green space, allowing children the opportunity to run and play in a safe environment. It is therefore bewildering why you feel this only warrants 1 star. Staff don't work 24 hours a day - if you email at night, it will be answered the following day. Staff do discuss issues, however, your 'issue' was seen to within 5 minutes of your report. I am presuming the repairs you refer to, are related to the complaint you made over how long it took your cheese on toast to cook? As a goodwill gesture, we offered to refund you for the meal out you had to have, because your food took too long to cook. It is normal practice to produce a receipt when requesting compensation, and we are still puzzled why you were unwilling to produce one and got quite angry at the request. In our attempt to ensure your satisfaction, we refunded you a whole nights stay! Personally, we feel this is a very generous gesture, especially when you consider the inconsequence of a caravan cooker taking longer to cook than your cooker at home. After all, we believe guests should focus on enjoying quality time with their families, making memories, and enjoying exploring this beautiful part of the world that we call home. (We have received no previous or subsequent complaints about the cooker). We are sure you meant to thank us for this goodwill gesture. Funnily, you refrained from leaving a review until this money was safely in your bank account!! We found a door knob broken which occurred during your stay. As a continued gesture of goodwill, we refunded you the full £50 breakages deposit. No fuss, even though it wasn’t reported to us. Our staff went out of their way to ensure your happiness and satisfaction. After the numerous phone calls and emails, you sent / made regarding the cooker, everything that could be done was done. Additionally, you left one member of staff in tears following one of your phone calls (which was on speaker phone, with 4 shocked staff present), where you referred to her as ‘stupid girl’. We do feel that no member of staff deserves the verbal abuse you gave - that particular phone call lasted over 20 minutes. Strangely, you make no reference to any of this in your review. The term ‘stupid’ is very derogatory, and in fact means the following ‘unintelligent · ignorant · dense · brainless · mindless · foolish · dull-witted’. None of which are very nice (in our opinion). We only wish you would have recognised all the help, assistance and goodwill we showed you and your family during your stay. We did all we could to ensure your holiday was a positive experience, but on this occasion, whatever we said or did, never felt enough. We are more than happy to receive your negative comments, after all, reflection is how we improve and grow, not only as a business, but as individuals. If we can impart one piece of advice, it would be to suggest you treat staff with kindness, respect and refrain from name calling. To be on the receiving end is not nice, and something that will stay with us. As they say…... there are always two sides to a story. Best wishes, from the one you referred to as ‘the stupid girl’.

Hi Georgina, many thanks for your feedback, it is always good to hear from guests regardless of the feedback being good or bad. We, like much of the South West coast, have a railway line running close to site. This is an asset to businesses, residents and tourists to Cornwall, as a means of linking us with the rest of the UK. We also have numerous guests who really enjoy watching the trains, especially when they are steam trains or the Queens train. However, we appreciate that the hourly trains into and out of Cornwall, may be an inconvenience. We do encourage all guests to look on google maps before they book, so they are aware of the sites setting. This may be something you could highlight to the caravans owner, they may decide to put this on their advertisement to give future guests awareness: we do advise all owners to ensure whoever rents their caravans are aware of this, but perhaps on this occasion, it was overlooked. We are very sorry a clerical error occurred with one of your swimming sessions, having spoken to the Gym staff today, they have said they apologised profusely and attempted to find you an alternative slot. With regards to the gym; this is a business open to the community and site users. It is difficult to comment about what the owner of your caravan told you, however, there is no mention on our website about this being included in the cost of a holiday. We feel that £6 per day or £17 for the week, represents very good value, especially when compared with similar gym businesses. We are a very small site, and do not provide entertainment, this is perhaps why you feel there is nothing suitable for an 8 year old - with a beach 10 minutes walk away, we find our holidaymakers enjoy having fun on the beach, and enjoy the many other activities in the local area. Again, perhaps this is something you could take up with the owner of the caravan, to ensure that the caravan is advertised correctly. With regards to any issues which caused your daughter an anxiety flare, all we can do is apologise for any distress. We had been made aware that your booking had been cancelled, and this was due to you bringing a dog with you, which is against site rules. Staff were shocked that you had arrived, and indeed, had arrived a day before your initial booking. To ensure site rules are being met and adhered to, it is imperative that discussions occur to clarify the situation, which we appreciate should have occurred with the owner, but unfortunately on this occasion, messages were not passed between us and the owner. We recommend that you contact the caravan owner to discuss your grievances, as this may be a more appropriate way to air your feelings, as we are simply the site and not the owner. We hope you manage to enjoy the rest of your time with us and enjoy your time with us in Cornwall.

Hi Kelly; We are very sorry to hear that you were so disappointed with your stay with us. We have a range of caravans on site, and are proud to offer various options to suit all budgets. Some of our caravans are older, and the prices reflect this. We work really hard to ensure that guests are charged a fair price, furthermore, we are one of the most cost-effective sites in Cornwall. This was particularly important to us last summer (during your stay), when we knew guests could be struggling financially due to Furlough & job losses. We feel very lucky to have an indoor heated pool for guests to use free of charge. Our cleaners work very hard to maintain high standards throughout site, however, if previous guests have left a mess, it is inevitable that there are times there is a crossover for subsequent pool users; all we can do is apologise for that. Did you inform a member of the gym staff? Unfortunately, because your stay coincided with a global pandemic; this resulted in many operational difficulties for the tourism and hospitality industry. Our priority was keeping both guests and staff safe. One implementation was the closure of our swimming pool changing rooms (in-line with government guidance). As you know, we also implemented a one family only rule, so you guys would have had the pool to yourselves during your swim and therefore, we felt leaving your belongings by the pool was a safe and secure option. As you say, this is far from ideal in colder weather, however, guests are advised of this before use to enable appropriate clothing to be worn to mitigate discomfort. Our site is mainly holiday caravans, and the site is separated between our residential lodges ( we don’t have many in comparisons to caravans). Our residents live locally (on site); however, they originate from all over the country and are a lovely, welcoming and friendly group of people. Our residents love to welcome guests to site, and relish the opportunity to have a chat with new faces! The owner and all staff worked tirelessly last year to keep the site open (when allowed), and the implementation of procedures were not ideal for anyone, but we did everything we could to make the best of tough and unprecedented times! The staff who were here during your visit, can’t recall anyone coming into the office asking to speak to the owner, or to complain about anything. We always encourage guests to tell us about issues they are experiencing in real-time – this gives us opportunity to rectify issues and you the chance to enjoy your holiday. Our aim is to ensure all our guests have a happy time with us, and we really do all we can to ensure this happens. Afterall, the economic sustainability of the business is in all our interests! Our team at Snowlands are a friendly bunch, who always go above and beyond to ensure the happiness of all our guests. And seriously, we don’t really care where people come from, our staff come from Plymouth, London, Lancashire, Singapore, Wales…. In fact, all over the place! Local, not local… we really don’t mind! Please contact us to discuss further; as an industry we really do want people to have an amazing time with us, thankfully, the vast majority leave happy, healthy, relaxed and recharged.
