Fantastic experience: Joining the fitness lab is one of the best decisions you will make… I initially joined the gym on the six week challenge which is a great way to give it a go. After the six weeks, you can stay and keep up your membership. The six week challenge gives you access to a personal trainer and support tailored to your goals. When you go to the gym, no class is the same, so you will not get bored, it varies each day and week. There is plenty of different times each day you can attend, with only small classes which gives you a PT experience but in a class setting. The classes are for all abilities, whether you are totally new to the gym, recently getting back into fitness or wanting to keep fit. The classes are tailored to everyone’s abilities which is fantastic if you want try something new! James, Harry and Lynn are all amazing, supportive and push you to achieve your goals. They take a real interest in you and what you want to achieve. They demonstrate all the exercises and set the exercises realistically to your level, but also stretch you beyond what you believe. James, Lynn and Harry will also motivate you and give you self-belief. They give you variety of different options, which is something you don’t find by just having a gym membership! However, it’s not just about going to the gym, the small class sizes give you the ability to meet new people and the gym has a real sense of community. Everyone who goes to the gym is extremely friendly and makes an effort to get to know each other regardless of how long they have been members, whether your on the six week challenge or been a member for years ! Joining the fitness lab, has been one of the best decisions I have made and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Fantastic experience: I’ve completed the 6 week challenge and now have become a permanent member at the gym after enjoying it so much. James and the team are brilliant at helping you identify your training needs and then putting a plan in place to deliver it. Alongside the fitness benefits, it’s been brilliant getting to know people in the local area and having some fun whilst training. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: ‘Well, what can I say about the Fitness Lab? It’s how I always hoped a gym would be when I joined other gyms years ago, but it never was. I looked around 3 other gyms…you are there a lot- choose wisely! Experienced and professional, James, Harry and Lynne set things realistically at your level and stretch you beyond the boundaries of what you think you are capable of. They take a consistent interest in your goals and instil in you a sense of self-belief. In just 3 months since I have joined, I have eaten better thanks to their advice and slept better, and finally have a flat stomach!! Your mind is engaged too- I don’t think one workout has ever been exactly the same as another. I never feel as if I am just ‘going through the motions’. Not only that- I am setting myself up for a healthier future. Class sizes are small, keeping things personal, ages and fitness levels vary, yet everyone is made to feel a part of the gang from the very start. You are welcomed with open arms even by those who have being going for years. Whilst there is plenty of encouragement, everyone goes at their own pace and there is no sense of competition. There’s a light-hearted feel about the place- we have a laugh, but we get things done too. There is something about the blood pumping through the veins, and a sense of achievement- yet combined with an atmosphere which doesn’t take itself too seriously- that means that however I feel at the beginning of the day, I come out of each session feeling more positive than when I went in. Joining has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time.’

Fantastic experience: Travelled from London for a friends birthday in Liverpool and were staying with family in Birkdale. James was amazingly accommodating with his Saturday class - and allowed a group of three of us to join the (typically) members only 45 minute hiit workout. We all do F45 in London, and were blown away by the energy in the room, the quality of the equipment and James’ instructing. The class was a real killer and exactly what we needed to wake us up.

Fantastic experience: I joined the Fitness Lab a year ago and hadn't done any form of fitness in well over a decade. I wish I had joined years ago! You get results even without a big change to your diet, the sessions change daily and monthly so you'll never get bored. If you're a complete novice like I was you'll start off gently and build up over time and get shown exactly what to do. It works as small group personal training classes, so you have a handful of you and the personal trainer demonstrates all the movements and recommends which weight you should be using. They also tell you when they think it's time to up the weight. If you have an injury or restricted movement the personal trainer will think of alternatives for you. The sessions themselves include both strength and cardio so you'll feel both stronger and fitter but at your own pace. It's very down to earth, the people are lovely and everyone is really friendly.

Fantastic experience: I joined The Fitness Lab early in the year in the hopes of changing my relationship with exercise, health and diet. It was the BEST DECISION EVER! After years of having a membership at various other gyms and just not going due to not knowing where to start, what to do and what areas to focus on, The Fitness Lab is truly a whole new experience. I’d call it a hybrid of a gym and a personal trainer, James keeps tabs on you and your progress and does not let you slip back. That’s exactly what I’ve needed. James truly caters to each individual and their needs, their goals. Adapts exercises and each day is focused on something different. Extremely happy to have joined The Fitness Lab, finally work properly on myself and see progress! Thanks James and team!

Fantastic experience: I can not sing the praises of this gym enough and the people that make it all happen. I started the gym in November weighing 2 stone heavier than I am now and have had nothing but support from all the personal trainers and the wonderful community that attends. I suffer with my mental health and this gym has pieced everything back together for me and put me back into a good routine with amazing sessions that are available to all. Keep up the good work guys your smashing it!
Fantastic experience: A great, friendly and well-run place to train which is a credit to the owner James. The workouts are varied and well thought out. The atmosphere is supportive within the group sessions, and I've also really benefited from guidance and advice on diet. I would highly recommend anyone to give it a try, including if you've tried other options without success, it really could be one of the most worthwhile investments in your future fitness, health and happiness that you make.

Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab is a great gym. I joined about 9 months ago. The knowledge, support, encouragement from the team, James, Matt, Lynne, and Harry has been brilliant, and really kept me going. I've done the normal chain gym memberships, but quickly lost all motivation for them for different reasons. However here the sessions are engaging, varied, and rewarding, so they don't become boring or repetitive. The change in both physical and mental wellbeing is really noticeable, I cannot recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: Joining the fitness lab is the best thing I have ever done! I have always struggled with pushing myself to do exercise and looking into fad diets instead. I’ve done personal training which is great but it’s crazy expensive so you can’t keep it up and normal gyms I have no idea what I’m doing and I find normal gyms a little intimidating. The fitness lab has made me finally enjoy exercise and the sessions are great fun! I was surprised about how much impact it had on how I feel in myself as well as how I feel physically. Doing a gym session before work really sets me up for the day and makes you feel amazing after! The instructors are so helpful and engaging. I need that extra push to do it and they go the extra mile for me to make sure I keep at it. I can’t recommend it enough

Fantastic experience: Since joining the Fitness lab at the start of the year, I’ve loved every minute, trying to attend classes as often as possible. The gym has a really great welcoming atmosphere, everybody chats and interacts with each other. The team James / Matt / Lynne are top class. The sessions are superb, tough and varied, I’ve noticed a difference already. I recommend The Fitness Lab to anyone who is interested in getting fitter.

Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab is by far the best gym I have been to ( and I have tried A LOT !) The workouts are well planned and hard enough without being intimidating. There is a real community feel and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I also use the App to workout when I can't make it into the gym. James and Matt are really knowledgeable and encouraging - working out with them is a pleasure and not a chore - I look forward to every session.

Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab continues to challenge me and they bring different ways to do it week on week but the best thing is that there are options for everyone depending on your fitness levels - everything is tailored to you. I absolutely wouldn’t have been able to do some of what I can do now even 6 months ago, let alone 18 months ago when I first joined. I used to hate going to the gym and now I hate not going! My fitness and strength has come on so much with all of the sessions. Thank you James, Matt and Lynne!

I was apprehensive about making steps towards improving my fitness, but James and the team (and all the members) have been so encouraging and supportive I wish I'd done it years ago. Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab in Birkdale is a well run and inviting place to train. Professional advice and supervision accompanied by a clean and safe environment. James and Matt are extremely knowledgeable and motivated to assist all fitness goals. Using Myzone belts to track performance and progress is both motivating and somewhat addictive. Fitness Lab has adapted to the Coronavirus pandemic multiple times in order to keep clients motivated and training and this personally has been a massive boost for me and others. Excited to be back once we are allowed again. Can't recommend enough.
Fantastic experience: I started at The Fitness Lab back in November 2020, when the 2nd lockdown hit Merseyside and I realised that I needed to do something to get on top of my health and fitness. The Fitness Lab were offering socially distanced outdoor 1:1 sessions at that time, as an alternative to the gyms which had been forced to close. I weighed the heaviest I ever had, had struggled to make any progress at the gym on my own (when they were open), felt super unfit and knew I couldn't let this spiral any more during another lockdown. I was half way through the "couch-to-5k" programme and finding it really hard to stay motivated. The Fitness Lab has really changed that! The change I've seen in the 23 weeks since I joined had been phenomenal. I have lost 9kg (despite gaining a reasonable amount of muscle mass!!) and dropped my body fat percentage by 7%!! To put that in perspective, that's 3.5 inches off both waist and hips. Not only that, but I've now run my first 10k in years - despite hardly doing any running training (having substituted it for the gym). I can't get over the difference in my strength and endurance, in just a few months. I feel fitter, happier, and I'm sleeping better. All of this has been a really enjoyable journey, with The Fitness Lab team. They are so much fun to train with and keep the programmes varied and enjoyable. They have kept up amazingly with all the changes and covid regulations over the past few months, and have always found a way to train us in a way that is compliant with regs, but still results-focussed and fun to do. It's such a friendly and sociable gym, the other members are fantastic and really friendly, and i can not reiterate enough how worth the money this place is.

Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab is the only form of exercise that I have been able to stick to. I really enjoy going and attend at least 3 times a week and feel so much stronger for it. The weight session we do have helped greatly with my menopause symptoms. There isn’t a single member that I don’t enjoy working out with. I always come away from the gym smiling. Fantastic experience: I started at the fitness lab 4 years ago after having a baby and struggling to shift those final few pounds and commit to any regular exercise regime. Within 8 weeks I’d lost ALL my baby weight and more!! I was exercising three times a week and seeing rapid changes in my attitude to exercise and food. I’ve never looked back!! James and the team are motivating, professional and huge fun to train with. The community spirit within the gym is amazing and I am glad to refer to a good number of the members as friends. Fantastic experience: In the new year I really wanted to build on my fitness and strength as I was running each week and doing weights at home but not really seeing many results. James and the team have not only helped me improve massively I’ve changed the way I approach exercise, fitness and health. We have worked from the ground up on my form, flexibility, strength, fitness and diet. The results really have been amazing and since March I have shifted close to 2 stone! Not only is it a great gym the community is great also. Get a taster session you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: James & his team can't do enough to support you, whatever your fitness goals. Although the sessions are in groups you still feel as though they're tailored to you & that good form & technique are the key. I've got a severe shoulder impingement & they always find an alternative exercise which works around the problem & doesn't make me feel as though I'm interrupting or disrupting the group training. Very friendly environment to train in & not at all intimidating like some gyms.

Fantastic experience: The Fitness Lab is not just somewhere to train hard, it is a community that James has created where everyone supports each other and we all have a laugh together, whilst putting in the effort that he demands! Whether in the circuit classes or during the small group sessions, he always manages to get the maximum amount of effort out of you without you realising :-) James is a top man and it is a great place to train, long may it continue!

Fantastic experience: Been going to James for nearly 3 years, I started as a beard-less Peter Kay look-a-like and now apparently look a bit Dan Bilzerian (obviously without the lifestyle). The great community James has created encourages regular training and brings great results. I have spent years going through the motions training alone however in the classes and small training groups help with motivating. I have lost weight and my diet has approved with the help I have received. Well done James and the team, keep up the good work!!
