Fantastic experience: Provides everything you need at a great price.

Negative experience: Please read all before getting your membership. Edit: Since this review, UGym rang me to request I remove my one star review. I said this will not be possible as I still had a negative experience and I feel it was important to share. We came to a compromise that I will remove some content of the review and up it to a two star because he did not agree with what I had said. He said they are working on an improvement on the cancellation process and I will be able to have a month free if I return. Thank you for phoning and having an open conversation. Review: I did not have a positive experience at UGym Clevedon. Both my partner and I got a membership at the same time and we both found the equipment old and therefore some of it was difficult to use when you are a beginner. Some of it appeared broken and felt borderline unsafe to use. I emailed UGym and requested to cancel my membership a month early due to exceptional circumstances. I had no response for several weeks and another payment was taken. This was my final contracted payment in the commitment period. I then emailed again and messaged them on instagram. The email was ignored but on instagram they replied and told me they would investigate what had happened to me at the gym before reviewing my membership (there was nothing to review, I had requested to cancel after my commitment period was up). No response for weeks again so I cancel my direct debit as I already stated my intention to cancel my membership before the next payment. I chase them again on instagram and they tell me they are investigating that day. I heard nothing since until I started receiving intimidating emails about missed payments about a month later. I had 2 emails and the second one threatened to get the debt collectors involved and potentially take me to court. This is after replying to the first email calmly asking what they need from me to help resolve this. This time, we wrote a strongly worded email as this has caused me a lot of worry after many communications trying to cancel for 2 months at this point. We sent the email stating why I am in no way in the wrong and a timeline of events and then an instagram message about 15 minutes later referencing the email we had sent. Sure enough, by the end of the evening, my membership was cancelled at last. I am in utter disbelief about how it took 2 entire months of communication to cancel my membership when my boyfriend cancelled within a day with a “cheers mate all done for you”. This experience has put me off going to any gym again. Please do not get your membership here uneducated about the hardship of cancelling and difficult customer services and communication like I did.

Negative experience: Gym space great, customer service not so great. I had no issues with the gym in the year or so that I was a member however after moving away I needed to cancel my membership. Having contacted them twice via the website to cancel my membership I received no communication from them. As a last resort I cancelled my direct debit and then contacted them again to tell them what I had done. Again radio silence. After the due date they emailed me telling me I owed them money, I explained that I had been trying to contact them to be told the only communication they had from me was telling them I was cancelling my payment, this was not the case but because I had contacted via the website I had no proof of the communication. I have now received a final demand letter for the bill and have had no choice but to pay it. As a gym they are great but if you need to chancel you membership be prepared for a fight.

Negative experience: Overpriced as machines (besides a couple) are extremely low quality - matrix and technogym. And its best machines are just about average- precor. It is a small building making it very cramped and even uncomfortable when training once more then a few other members are present. Machines are often broken and are not fixed for months, for example, a hamstring curl which hasn’t been in order once this year. Cancelling a membership is also a pain as you only can in shop which is most often denied as an “owner is needed”. They are rarely in meaning you may have to pay for additional months that you do not want to do. If this gym was £15 a month it would be fair but for £27, there are better and cheaper options available.

Fantastic experience: As a member going for around a year now, I have had no bad experiences here. Good environment and nice equipment which some are taped up but overall very nice. Won’t be leaving for some good time

Positive experience: A good gym, mostly covers all the equipments, cardio machines and weights. Good rates.

Positive experience: Small place, which is good in a way as there's not many people like in commercial chain gyms. But, even with few people it can get a bit crowded.. one set of everything on free weights can make working your routine difficult. The biggest issue for me was the size of some machines, being 6'8" I simply couldn't fit my legs in some of them. Equipment is old and some of it needs a serious tlc. No trap-bar which was a big thing for me. Outside of this, the staff is really helpfull, 24/7 access really helps, parking outside is small but just right for the size of the gym. Good bunch of gym-goers, just all-round nice people. 6/10.

Positive experience: Convenient location. The gym is very small and badly laid out. No deadlifting is permitted upstairs and almost impossibble to do on ground floor due to location of power rack being in front of the office/reception. (Which is more like a social club in the day) The equipment is no better than any other gym around. The usual blown up steroid users who load all the weights on bars and then leave them for everyone else to put away. Dumbbells are shoddy the rubber casings are missing from most so they're imbalanced. Equipment is limited. If its busy you may as well go home because you won't be able to use anything.

Positive experience: I thought I’d give this a try and my impressions were mixed. I’ll get the negative bits out of the way first, and I feel bad leaving mixed feedback. Some of the equipment seems very well used (one machine missing numbers on the weights) and the pads on some weight machines are taped up as they have split, men’s shower room seems unfinished. The cardio equipment is okay - one of the spin bikes is difficult to adjust for to the adjustment screw having a bad thread, and on one of the treadmills the belt feels a little loose at low speeds but fine otherwise. Positives: I went back a second time and had a decent workout once I felt a little more confident then. It is a rather nice place to work out. Lots of weight machines so whatever you want to work on then there’s a machine for that. Big range of free weights, decent selection of recovery drinks in the vending machine. You have the option of a 24-hour membership which is perfect for me as I like going when it’s quiet. I’d definitely recommend this gym if you’re looking for a nice place to exercise whenever you feel like it, be it during the day or late at night. Sign up process was easy and I was able to use the gym pretty much right away.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym, cosy but with everything you need to work every part of yourself. The locker room on the other hand needs work and potentially rearranging. Having shower in there is s bit awkward. Still a regular and wouldn't trade.
