Potters International Hotel: Opinions
Negative experience: Smells awful. Infested with rats and pests.
Negative experience: Worst hotel ever
Negative experience: Don’t bother paying for your stay, there’s plenty other residents that stay there for free.
Negative experience: Sold the locals out in the name of greed. Will never use any potter venues ever again
Negative experience: It's a hotel for economic migrants. Potters International immigration Centre.
Negative experience: No longer an hotel!
Negative experience: It's not very good
Fantastic experience: Πολύ ευγενικό προσωπικό ,εξυπηρετούν πρόσφυγες αλλά με πολύ αξιοπρέπεια
Negative experience: foods not good service not good location fine
Negative experience: Now full of immigrants!! Potter must be desperate and rushmoor b.c should be ashamed. House them but leave British citizens homeless
Negative experience: Shocking!!! Cancelling veterans stays for asylum seekers. Shock bob only caring about money
Negative experience: Think it's absolutely shocking that Potters have cancelled Falklands Veterans hotel rooms to house asylum seekers, company should be ashamed of themselves
Negative experience: Ever wondered what a hotel would be like if you combined Crossroads Motel, Bates Motel & Fawlty Towers? If so, you NEED to visit this dump.
Negative experience: They cancel booking last minute to accommodate migrants, I cancel you back.
Negative experience: Disgraceful
Negative experience: Like a hotel from a 3rd world country
Negative experience: Cancelling bookings for veterans and replacing them with migrants is disgraceful, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Fantastic experience: Food not so tasty. Nice place to stay
Fantastic experience: Nice place to stay
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Clean rooms and comfy beds. Extra pillows and thick blankets in wardrobe. Free phone for taxis. Excellent parking spaces. Wi fi good. Bedrooms on ground floor and disabled facilities.
Positive experience: Not today best place I have stayed. But only there for 1 night.
Positive experience: Only nipped in to go toilets while out walking staff was nice
Negative experience: This place requires thorough cleaning!!! My first room had badly flickering lights which kept turning themselves off.. so I was moved. The second room had clearly not been cleaned well. The sheets had been changed and that was about it. Floor was filthy. Crumbs and raisins in a lot of places and the bath was filthy with dirt ring around it.
Fantastic experience: Staying for work so didn't use all the facilities but the room was clean and comfortable, the bed was very big & the shower was very powerful. Great night's sleep & friendly staff. Would visit again if I was in the area
Positive experience: Really nice staff, friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy rooms. Getting a bit dated now.
Negative experience: £80 for one night with no breakfast is overpriced Decor has a charm to it but the hotel is very outdated. My room had an unpleasant odor and so did the corridor. All but 1 of my lights were also broken aswell my room not being totally clean.
Negative experience: For the price of £70-80 a night, this was absolutely awful. The water was brown, we tried to get room service water as there was no bottled in the room (says room service is 24h) but the guy wanted us to come downstairs to collect it (I suspect because our room was so far away from reception). The heating was up full blast, which we discovered at 2am after both sweating buckets. Even after turning off, the room was still incredibly warm. I think because we were near the pool. There were cobwebs and coffee stains on the table, stains over the toilet seat and the bowl itself was very dirty. It seemed like it had not been cleaned prior to us staying in there. Will be requesting a full refund, uncomfortable and dirty.
Positive experience: A bit dated and warn, but clean. Friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Brilliant
Negative experience: Pretty icky place really. Staff were friendly enough but my first room had a broken window door thing (I had valuables I didn't want stolen) and the one I moved to had such a teeny tiny window overlooking a random corner of internal rooftop that also had a dodgy catch. Middle of a heatwave it was very unpleasant in a small dingy lit room with no air flow. On top of that, there was towels littered down the hallway that the cleaning staff had left behind, and most disgustingly my 'clean' towel had orange gunk encrusted over it. Looks like something built at the advent of concrete, and hadn't been renovated since.
Fantastic experience: Quiet. Friendly.
Negative experience: Disgraceful place. Had lots of issues especially that the pool was shut. Trying to communicate with someone was impossible. They kept shoulder sliding. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Fantastic experience: Staff polite, helpful. Rooms large & clean.. Cooked breakfast good.
Fantastic experience: Excellent! Very helpful to plan an event. Looking forward to opening again!
Fantastic experience: Not the most attractive of buildings, and tired in many places, but the staff are polite and always helpful. My regular because it is great value for money.
Positive experience: Clean and pleasant
Negative experience: Staff are friendly and welcoming cater to all the needs Rooms very hot no air con Booked for 2 adults and got a 1 towel in the room for after our shower No cold water coming from.the taps only luke warm Cleanliness was ok Booked a double bed got 2 singles pushed together one was higher then the other Breakfast was lovely catered to our needs expensive but you get your moneys worth and a lovely breakfast selection
Positive experience: At the time I visited it was very tired and run down. I think this is due to the fact that Aldershot is having problems reinventing itself after being the premier military garrison.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool
Negative experience: Not very good ,no one staying here
Negative experience: Needs renovation everywhere. Poor breakfast. Too expensive for the value provided.
Negative experience: Run down
Fantastic experience: I stayed here with a group and we were all a little worried because of the other reviews. We were subsequently pleasantly surprised at the fact that the hotel was actually lovely. It may not be the most modern place I've ever stayed but the beds are comfortable, the rooms are relatively spacious and the facilities are great. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating.
Negative experience: Its a dump.
Positive experience: Clean rooms, not too bad service, could be more modern.
Negative experience: Old hotel. No modern amenities. No fridges. Breakfast below average
Negative experience: No working heating, no hot water, rundown hotel masquerading as a 3 star. Avoid at all costs!!!
Negative experience: Failed to meet my expectations.
Positive experience: Quite a nice place, very reasonable facilities at a fair price. Had a lovely meal.
Negative experience: Looking tired, food below average and bar prices high.
Fantastic experience: Amazing food & staff
Negative experience: Not worth the money, dangling cobwebbed bed room, red hot rooms with no control, no usb ports, very slow wifi, well over priced
Positive experience: Didn't go in cos it looked closed, I'm visiting in June and happened to be in the area so thought I'd check it out but as I say it looked closed, only a few cars in scruffy car park, no sign of life, entrance looked dark and no posters or welcoming signage, assumed closed for Jan so went off to find a cafe in nearby Aldershot
Fantastic experience: Hotel need renovation, but they have THE BEST huge beds. Bathroom is a bit old. Price is also not bad for just 1 night. I enjoyed my stay.
Fantastic experience: Attended a function there, places looks clean n friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Having visited Potter's several times before for their Sunday carvery, we opted to go there for our Christmas Day lunch. Basically, very similar to their Sunday offering, but the cold starter buffet was somewhat more fancy, and crackers were supplied. Quite expensive, but it saved us doing all the prep, and post lunch washing up! Fair deal in the circumstances!
Positive experience: Nice staff, efficient hotel
Fantastic experience: Great ball room. The Ceroc was fantastic! Free parking.
Positive experience: Little bit dated but a very clean hotel. Friendly/helpful staff. Good pint and nice food. Wide choice of breakfast continental and cooked available
Negative experience: haha what can I say? Room was baking hot probnaly the swimming pool. The swimming pool was not nice. The food was below average my medium rare steak was well done. It could be lovely but a bit in disrepair.
Fantastic experience: Food and service was excellent
Positive experience: Spotlessly clean, staff excellent, polite and attentive. Good food, lovely bar. Everything was in keeping with the history of the property. A few things needed a little attention
Fantastic experience: I stayed here is 2007, I've wanted to share my ghost story. I was sitting on the bed with my nephew and we were playing battle ship. My nephew won and I said I guess well have to see what's on that TV, as we returned our rental car and we were kind of stuck in the hotel. As soon as I said it the TV turned its self on. My nephew turned around and looked at the TV. I looked to see where the TV remote was and it was on the other bed. He was scared and I've always wondered what happened. I've come to accept that something heard me and turned it on. I enjoyed my stay there but my nephew and I still talk about that.
Positive experience: Mediocre hotel. Friendly staff, but quite slow service. Slightly unclean rooms, but comfy beds.
Fantastic experience: Pretty good not too.bad.I
Fantastic experience: Ein wunderbares, hotel mit Großen pull und Fitnessraum und alles gratis
Positive experience: Nice place and staff, very dated though
Negative experience: Looks the part, but absolutely shocking stay. Room was unbelievably hot, no fans available for use. Debated sleeping in my car. Staff made no effort to improve my stay. Never again.
Negative experience: Stayed here last night , over priced, very dated, rooms so hot could not sleep. They have no air conditioning or fans. Very disappointing experience
Negative experience: The room very old, it’s seem no body there! Just a few of Staff working there, we were booked 2 nights. But after first night I asked staff can check out places? Housekeeping just drop the clean bedding set outside my door on the floor. To change for a new guest . We did make a comment to the reception, but she seem didn’t care or understand. The clean bedding sets SHOULD NOT LEAVE ON THE Floor! Right???
Positive experience: Outdated 4*, needs renovation. Nice employees and good beds.
Negative experience: Ok as business venue.
Positive experience: Good for a short term accomodation, don't expect too much, spacious car park, swimming pool and a standard gym.
Positive experience: You know where you are at the Potters
Positive experience: Friendly staff but the hotel is quite tired and in need of updating. The shower has only one setting, riot mode. Thankfully you could adjust the temperature so at least it was a warm blast. There were only 2 plugs in the room and the tv was plugged into one of them so if you needed more than one device charging at the same time one has to resort to talking to your room mate or reading.. There are other better places to stay
Negative experience: Grim
Positive experience: Staff very helpful and friendly. So top marks there guys however, VERRRY dated really needs some TLC. Rooms are of a good size but again very dated. If you just need a night or two it's not that bad to be fair it's just needs a little love. Bed was comfortable I guess that's the main thing really. But I do think a 3 is very fair. But not impossible to hit a 4 or even a 5 :)
Positive experience: Had Xmas Dinner there on Thursday very nice and service was quite quick
Positive experience: It's OK but not a great
Negative experience: Filthy
Positive experience: Staff excellent the hotel is good the room we were meeting is was good too
Negative experience: Stayed at this hotel for 5 weeks while on a training course for work. This hotel is not cheap at £130 per night for a twin room. We spent a little over £4500. On paper the hotel sounds good with Wi-Fi, swimming pool and gym etc. Don't be fooled by some reviews. Rooms extremely hot with no air conditioning, we had to have two fans running constantly in October! The room remained hot.. Basic things like cleaning were not achieved to a basic standard by the hotel. It took two visits by the manager to finally get the room vacuumed. Cleaner would routinely replace towels and leave old ones in the room. We did come back on one occasion to find that our bin had been emptied, however the bag of rubbish had been left in the room on top of the dresser! Swimming facility is alright but again is not clean (mould in showers beside sauna), also steam room is out of action and staff informed us that it would be for an undetermined amount of time. I would not recommend a room any where near to the pool as there is an extremely strong chlorine gas smell filling the corridors. Breakfast is basic but ok. Only thing is on several occasions the waiting staff would not have turned up to work. The chef told us to help ourselves ( no tea or coffee on these occasions). Also we had an instance of the chef not being there and the staff told us that "today is continental" continental consisted of half toasted bread with jams or yoghurt at least tea and coffee was available this time. To finish off, be careful in the car park as one of my colleagues had their car badly damaged in the hotel car park. No cameras. Hotel reluctant to help in any way.
Positive experience: Lovely location, big rooms, friendly staff
Fantastic experience: No complaints. Very comfortable bed and friendly staff. Food is excellent and on time. Facilities are lovely.
Fantastic experience: My second home is the gym/pool!
Positive experience: Walk for miles to get to your room
Negative experience: Very tired hotel whose owner has evidently not invested in it. I stayed therefore 3 weeks 2 years ago and it is now even more run down.Room adequate but hot water hit and miss, gym OK but pool heavily over chlorinated(my skin was tingling) sauna disappointing and the steam room is a cleaners' cupboard. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was OK. In sum, this place could be great if someone was prepared to spend some time and money. However, at half the price of Holiday Inn you get what you pay for!
Positive experience: Very good lunch
Negative experience: I drove past here 2 weeks ago. I havent ever been here except for prom 15 years ago which is a night i wish i could forget thanks alot google.
Positive experience: Good location for events, parking on site.
Positive experience: The meal we had was perfectly cooked although the portions were quite small. There did not appear to be enough staff on call as they all seemed to be doubling up on their tasks whilst one or two of them didn't seem to know what they were supposed to be doing. We did not stay overnight so I cannot comment on that aspect of the establishment.
Fantastic experience: Conference centre. Bright and clean facilities
Negative experience: Really poor conference rooms, very far away from the entrance past guests rooms/cleaning areas
Positive experience: Typical business/conference hotel, souless but adequate
Negative experience: Even though the rooms were tidy it was far too hot. Lack of air conditioning, the shower was like a jet stream, very hard to stay under the water without being stung . The staff do their best but lack of rooms because of work being done it was difficult for me as I am in need of a hip replacement, the long walk to the rooms was unfortunate! Some of the bedcovers were stained!
Positive experience: Decent sized rooms, friendly staff. Decor is a bit dated.
Positive experience: lovely hotel and amazing customer service
Fantastic experience: Very nice quiet spot for a drink quite a historical hotel check it out
Fantastic experience: Went for a business meeting, tea and coffee were excellent aswell as the service.
Fantastic experience: Visited the Sunday carvery for mother's day. It was busy as you would expect. Service was prompt and the food was great and as good value as ever.
