Living Well Health Clubs: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Swimming pool is perfect lovely and clear. Temp is great for lane swimming. The steam room is hot and ideal for that chill at the end of a session. Showers are great really powerful.
Fantastic experience: I have been a member for just over 1year. I love ot here. It is not a huge gym but the equipment is in great working order and modern. With tv screens on cardio machines that you can walk, run, cycle various routes with visual scenery. Plenty of free weights too. Sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool also part of your membership. Staff are great and friendly. Approachable and helpful. They know their stuff and you can book personal training sessions. Katie the manager is lovely and is always there with a smile and encouragement. Air-conditioning is a big plus and water cooler too. Hot drinks and fruit juice with a place to sit after the gym is an added bonus. Parking is plentiful and part of the membership.
Positive experience: The club was a fantastic addition to my stay. Clean facilities, a great atmosphere, and friendly staff who made me feel welcome straight away. It really enhanced my experience and I’d definitely use it again on a future visit!
Fantastic experience: As a hotel guest, having access to the club was such a great bonus to my stay. The facilities were clean, well maintained, and had everything I needed for a good workout. The atmosphere was welcoming and never felt intimidating, even as a guest who doesn’t use this club regularly. The staff were friendly, and helped with my questions. The management were also there and it was clear they took pride in both the club and the guest experience. Being able to unwind during my stay definitely elevated the overall hotel experience. I’d absolutely recommend making use of the club if you’re staying here.
Negative experience: I feel compelled to leave this review after experiencing what can only be described as a masterclass in computer-says-no customer service today. A special mention to Jaden, whose visible misery was matched only by his unwavering devotion to “the rules.” Despite there being no signage anywhere (inside or outside the facility) indicating a 4pm pool closure, our arrival at 3:02pm was deemed unacceptable. Not even a 20-minute swim was allowed. Kids crying. Flexibility was nonexistent. Initiative appeared to be actively discouraged. Repeated explanations of “that’s just the rules” were delivered with impressive confidence, even when those rules were apparently invisible and non-negotiable. Responsibility was passed around freely, but ownership was nowhere to be found. Security were, to be fair, perfectly pleasant - which says a lot when they’re the highlight of the interaction. All in all, a festive reminder that rigid rule-following and poor attitude can turn a simple family swim into a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Would not recommend.
Negative experience: New member & staff weren't aware of promotional offers like bring a friend for a week. No introduction to the club or facilities. One staff member speaks very poor English. No welcome or hello on arriving or goodbye/thank you. I had to ask for a clean towel & staff member just pointed at a pile of towels. Broken lockers. Dirty floors & smelly showers. Staff just talking & eating meals at reception desk, no cleaning or interactions with members. Coffee machine not working & dirty cups & glasses everywhere. This is part of the Hilton Metrapole group, absolutely poor unacceptable standards. A senior manager needs to be present & lift standards. Feel cheated out of my monthly members fee.... sub-standard.
Negative experience: Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not Worth £60 a Month! Really poor facilities. My friend had a guest pass, but the lady at the front desk (short hair) was rude, unhelpful, and clearly not enjoying her job. She said we couldn’t have a one-day guest pass — only a seven-day one — so we ended up paying £20 just to use the facilities. The gym itself is outdated, cramped, and unhygienic. The sauna smells awful, and the showers are so small it feels claustrophobic. Only one hairdryer in the changing room, so you have to wait ages to use it. They claim the facilities close at 10 p.m., but staff made us leave by 9:45 because they wanted to go home. Totally unprofessional. For £60 a month, this is shocking. The place needs a complete revamp — it doesn’t even compare to a one-star gym. The only positive? They give you a towel. Other than that, avoid this place.
Positive experience: Lovely view from the pool and nice and open. The showers had a pretty horrible blocked drains smell and the changing room floors were dirty. Staff were polite & friendly.
Positive experience: I am a member , i been here almost everyday since Jan, pretty decent facilities
Negative experience: Don’t waste your money! Cancelled after 2 and a half years as almost every time you go something isn’t in use. Showers, lockers, jacuzzi, air con in the gym, take your pick. Now the pool been shut for a month, no reduction in fees though they only ever go up! The last straw was grown ‘men’ gobbing and spitting in the communal showers near the sauna just leaving it on the floor! Didn’t get good customer service on giving our notice to cancel either, just a one sentence email saying we couldn’t use the facilities after a certain date (spelling was atrocious too I might add). No sorry you are leaving or thanks for all the money you’ve spent with us ♀️ (whilst services weren’t working and below acceptable facilities - mold, flies, missing tiles…..) Went downhill after Nicola left! Will miss Alison and Katy as they were always welcoming and a pleasure to see each time. Thats the only reason I have given one star for those ladies, the rest is a disaster zone.
Negative experience: Not a great place , showers are always out of use , the jacuzzi is usually broke for 1 reason or another, the staff all seem very young and too busy flirting with eachother , hitting eachother with towels and so fourth , management need to be around more often , not very friendly with kids either , if any child makes too much of a noise the staff give out dirty looks , I guess they don't have any kids themselves, kids are kids keep your rolling eyes to yourself stop flirting with eachother and do your jobs
Fantastic experience: Small gym but quite good, huge pool, sauna can be a bit warmer but in general all good.
Positive experience: Living Well Health Club exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed by their friendly staff and pristine facilities. The variety of equipment and classes catered to all fitness levels, ensuring everyone finds their perfect workout routine. The atmosphere is always vibrant, motivating me to push myself further. Additionally, their knowledgeable trainers provide personalized guidance, making every session effective and enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned gym-goer or just starting your fitness journey, Living Well is the place to be for a holistic approach to wellness
Positive experience: Used the gym today on a guest pass, very impressed. The gym areas are well equipped and clean and all of the staff I met were lovely. Great team, very welcoming, friendly and professional, thank you for today.
Negative experience: What a joke! £10 to use a swimming pool! But they say oh you can use it all day.... really?? guests at the NEC are there to swim all day? If you need your morning swim make sure you bring your wallet and be prepared to pay through the nose for a swim. Again £10!!! Really??
Negative experience: Changing Room Policy Concerns Despite repeated complaints, the mixing of age groups in the changing rooms persists, making my daughters uncomfortable. Despite a family room option, management has yet to address the issue effectively. Disappointing experience.
Fantastic experience: Lovely swimming pool with a conservatory style roof, well worth going for the pool. Gym is ok and changing rooms are functional
Negative experience: I've been to this hotel since 2018 for 5 times and every single time, the staff has been unaccommodating and unprofessional. The spa is run completely separate to the hotel, so the hotel reception will simply tell you the times that the spa is available. - The first few times, there was a massive unorganised queue where I had to wait 1.5 hours to enter the spa. The staff would not be competent enough to check how many people are exiting and would constantly miscalculate the capacity. - On another occasion, I was denied entry even though it was 6.55pm (last entry is 7.00pm apparently which the reception doesn't tell you!) The staff at this point was so unhelpful and rude - all I asked was to use the jacuzzi for 15 mins and I would've been out before they close! - This year, they've started a booking system but once again, the hotel reception did not inform me and I eagerly waited all day and went "early" to avoid a rush and they told me they were fully booked. We book this overpriced hotel solely for this falsely advertised spa - and yet not once have I been able to enjoy the dam thing in peace!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely best enjoyment, spa, sauna, Steam room, showers, all clean and fresh. Very pleased with the visit.
Fantastic experience: Teally good
Fantastic experience: Fabulous staff...
Negative experience: Used to go swimming here when I stayed at the Hilton, but now they charge £10 a time!!! Why?
Fantastic experience: An excellent well being venue. With excellent modern facilities
Negative experience: The swimming pool and sauna etc are now £10 to use even when staying in the hotel, £30 if you’re not staying! I’ll be staying in other hotels in future
Positive experience: Decent equipment but the gym is far too hot to actually work out in, the cooling units blow out hot air which doesn't help. Should come with a hazard warning
Negative experience: Quite a few things to say here, firstly this is a review solely on the health club, the hotel review was rated amazing, but im rating one star purely due to the new charging system they have in place for hotel guests. pros decent sauna and steam room clean swimming area and decent size Jacuzzi is small but efficient if not busy, Gym is good for a hotel quality gym, plenty of machines Cons and why im giving this one star new £10 charge introduced to use the Wet faclities(Appreciate costs have gone up), but £10 is a bit steep especially if you paying high prices for room, also the access is at 90min intervals, not ideal if you wanted only a quick 30min session etc and leave, not all hotel guests are staying over for leisure, business travellers want to use the facilities for a short time, so charging doesnt feel right or fair, (maybe a pricing system, i.e £2 for 20 mins etc may be better) staff are friendly and only doing their job, but something like this will make me consider my overnight stay options especially as there are plenty of good hotels nearby. this Hilton though for me has no faults in any other area but this is now an issue for me, @Living well or Hilton, how about even free access during stays for Hilton Honors members? no idea what the solution but this one needs reviewed as it wont sit well with business guests and i mean the ones who travel for company work.
Fantastic experience: Nice pool
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities, clean, good location and staff.
Fantastic experience: Recently rejoined after a number of years, it was refreshing to see new equipment and a number of changes for the better. I finally think my fee is fair. Excellent cleanliness, and was nice to see the manager, Andrew, getting stuck in himself doing just that.
Positive experience: A fantastic pool . Warm water and a view over the lake. Jacuzzi hot and sauna and steam room good. Showers abit like warm. Parking hood. Staff helpful. Usually nice and relaxing and hardly ever busy.
Fantastic experience: Great
Positive experience: Recently refurbished with new gym equipment. New look to shower but poor maintenance.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool
Fantastic experience: A lovely pool and the booking system means it’s not too busy
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Negative experience: Needs updating especially the shower room. Nothing special. Minimalist gym.
Negative experience: The pool seating area is especially filthy. I bring my children here for swimming lessons and every week we sit on the disgusting chairs and tables and the floor hasn’t seen a sweeping brush this year I’m sure. Such a shame
Fantastic experience: Nice place, many facilities
Negative experience: What horrible, rude staff they have. After being put on a waiting list to access the pool, I waited only to be told they had "gotten rid of the list" and we now had to wait AGAIN. I complained about it, but waited again only to be told when I got to the front of the line that I would not be allowed in because I had complained. The desk pope staff clearly cannot handle being busy and when their home-made system breaks down, they resort to being rude and argue with their paying customers. Everyone was shocked of how horribly they acted. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I've had things stolen in there earlier as well. This is a poorly run, unhygienic spa with the rudest staff I have ever encountered. Don't waste your money or time on them. Go somewhere else.
Negative experience: In case you go there with a conference do double check they do not overcharge you if you have an agreed discount. It happened to us and it was really unpleasant dealing with rude staff. By the way no refund was given to us even if we showed that due to the agreement we should have paid less.
Positive experience: The pool is fairly small but it's clean and pleasant. The sauna and steam rooms are small but not usually too busy. Nothing special, but nothing wrong either.
Negative experience: my experience here today was NOT good , how can you offer a relaxing spa day when you have 7 loungers ,there were 17 ladys in and around the pool , no chill out room ,no sofas to lie on , this has been the worst experience of a spa day in my life ,i have been doing these spas for 20 years , my treatment was mediocre , im sure the girl was an inexperienced trainee , my daughter is a sports therapy graduate so has knowledge of massage, this was not good , we gave 5 stars on the form as we didnt want any more bad treatment , or sly looks ,but as it happens we had our afternoon tea and got the hell out , i was more stressed when i left than when i got there , you need to take a hard look at your spa , i wont be ever returning , and will be warning my friends not to waste thier money , shame afternoon tea was lovely and so was the lady that attended us .
Positive experience: It's a rather small gym with a separate core workout area. The gym is fairly well equipped and maintained. The swimming pool is spectacular: glass roof and walls overlooking a lake and small forest - an ideal place to chill out. The steam room, dry sauna, showers and changing rooms are kept clean and functional, albeit small.
Fantastic experience: I attended a conf at NEC and had some dead time before the departure of my plane to kill. The gym is actually hosted at the Hilton a few yards east of the NEC. Entering the gym is not restricted to hotel-guests or club-members, I just paid 5£ to use gym, sauna and even a 15m swimming-pool!
