Our comment from FitFit UK about Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa:

Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa is a charming establishment located in the picturesque Stratford-Upon-Avon, offering a blend of historic elegance and modern comfort. Many guests have praised the beautiful grounds, complete with well-maintained gardens and stunning views, making it an ideal location for relaxation and outdoor activities. The hotel's interior, characterized by its classic English luxury, features elegant wood decor and comfortable accommodations.

Visitors frequently commend the professional and friendly staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The restaurant offers high-quality food with an extensive breakfast buffet that many guests found exceptional. The spa facilities, while noted to be on the smaller side, still provide a delightful experience with a warm pool and sauna.

However, there are some areas for improvement. Several guests have reported inconsistencies in service, particularly during busy dining periods where the staff appeared overwhelmed. Some food items were said to be disappointing, with a limited menu that didn't always match expectations for a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, comments on room cleanliness and maintenance have been noted, suggesting that attention to detail could be enhanced.

Overall, Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa remains a popular choice for those seeking a picturesque getaway, with much of the feedback emphasizing the potential for a truly memorable experience when service issues are addressed.

Positive experience: Wonderful place to visit. The decor is really nice with open fires. Service could be improved (waiter asked me to move from the bar and take a seat) he thrn couldnt find me to take my order so i ended up bsck at the bar... dinner was a failure from stale bread to anchovies on a ceasar salad when we requested them not to be also the waiting time 50 minutes for starters we only ordered bread and beetroot salmon galtrax.. salmon didnt really have any beetroot colour or flavour.. The chicken tikka massala looked like it was boil in the bag. The venison was just about warm but nice. The sausage was really fragrant on the kids meal and also was the same sausage on the breakfast buffet. I think we caught them at a bad time and the meal was not charged to us. Breakfast was nice (apart from fragrant sausage) Spa area is lovely and warm well relaxed with sauna and steam. Shame theres not a jacuzzi but i think it would spoil the ambience . Rooms are really nice clean very warm and dog friendly with a dog bed suppied and bowl.. please be aware they tried to charge an extra 50 pounds on checkout for the dog which was not on our booking to state that charge. They did not charge it in the end. The grounds are lovely to walk around. There's a large garden area with bespoke trimmed bushes and small fountain. Stunning to say the least. Would be nice to come back and try it again as this visit felt a bit deflated.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful old manor hotel steeped in history with so much charm and old English style luxury. The grounds are stunning with hedges out of Alice in wonderland, the interior is beautiful, lots of wood and grand designs. Fabulous bar with excellent cocktails and a cracking fire place in winter, the restaurant does quality food at reasonable prices and has views over the grounds. The breakfast was exceptional, rooms very comfortable and luxurious and there is a lovely indoor pool and spa. The service from all staff was warm, friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to go back to this hotel and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area, it is superb!!

Positive experience: I booked a package deal of room, treatments and dinner. The deal came with two treatments, one for my partner and by default one for me. I hadn't considered how a full body massage would affect me. Wow, I was in excellent hands with Kathy. I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing experiences of my 56 years. Thank you for looking after me. Also my partner had a fantastic treatment also. Keep up the great work.

Fantastic experience: I was here for a workshop, so didn't stay in the hotel. Absolutely fantastic location: I would gladly stay here for a while. What could be better: we had around 20 people in the workshop, so serving only 1 pot of coffee, does not make a lot of sense.

Fantastic experience: A delightful afternoon team. From entering to leaving the hotel the staff were amazing. Definately booking a weekend break next year.

Positive experience: Great location and amazing history to the building. Great open log fires, great for a cold day. The only reason to mark down the service was that we order a fish finger sandwich and they delivered it without any cutlery or serviette. This was not a one off mistake, they did this for everyone. I’d rather not wipe my hands in the furniture nor clothes!

Fantastic experience: Had a delightful stay at Billesley Manor. The location was perfect for visiting very nearby Strattford Upon Avon and the Cotswolds. The Manor is a beautiful building inside and out and has lovely grounds. The staff we so attentive to us, we were made to feel welcome and valued. Jackie, the general manager, was extra hepful and understood our needs perfectly. We found our room to be very clean and comfortable. The meal we had in the restaraunt was exceptional and beautifully presented. Breakfast was plentiful and relaxed. The bar staff were brilliant! All in all I could not fault the service we received across the hotel and would certainly recommend a stay here.

Negative experience: Tldr: put in the wrong room, and the room was mouldy. The staff didn't care. After waiting 10 days for a response to my complaint, I got £50ish worth of points as an apology. Really disappointed with this one. I was very exited to visit for a relaxing weekend, and as we drove up the drive it appeared we had picked well - first impressions are great. But it turned out to be a complete let down. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready - fine, we were early - but I could see on my Bonvoy app that we had been moved from a king room to a twin. I enquired at reception, assuming this was a mistake, but was told it was in fact an upgrade (I was told this was to "balance the rooms" mind you, just in case I had thought it was a perk). I asked if we could be put back in to a king room as booked, but was told this wasn't possible. Not a great first impression, but I had places to be so left it. When we got in the room that night we found a bathroom with black mold on the ceiling, a filthy carpets, a rotten window, and bedside tables with drinks rings which hadn't been wiped since the previous occupant. My partner was too tired to faff about changing rooms that night, so I informed reception in the morning - but was really disappointed to be told just that "housekeeping would be informed". It's a little offensive to act as if this was just an undusted sideboard. I asked for an email so I could follow up and was just told to email reception. I did end up getting an apology from the hotel by email, but it just again gave me the housekeeping line. I responded with photos of the state of the room, and after 10 days and three unanswered follow up emails, I finally got a response offering me some Marriott points in return for a spoilt weekend. This isn't the quality I'd expect from Marriott or a supposedly luxury country hotel. Based on other rooms I can only assume they shoved me in one of the crap rooms as I was visiting on reward points. I won't make the same mistake again. On a positive note, breakfast was nice and the F&B staff were great.

Negative experience: Very bad for the rate at ~£240/night. Breakfast staff were overrun. It’s a buffet but you have to wait to be seated, which takes some time. Almost all of the tables were uncleared and the buffet table messy with spills, so it’s not a very nice experience. Bit like a motorway service station, in a historic building. Staff were rude when we tried to understand the allergy information, which was clearly because they were overworked and stressed. The ‘spa’ is more like a local authority swimming pool. We booked massages and I wouldn’t recommend these. The masseuse had acrylics, didn’t ask whether the massage was okay during it, and it was less than the 55mins (£90). I complained at they refunded 10% of the massage price. The room had a comfortable bed and chairs and a nice window. Some additional furniture is cheap wood veneer that doesn’t match but overall a nice room with original wood panelling. The evening meal was good, service was good. The food was on the pricier end but good. This is night one of two. I’ve complained a second time now about breakfast. Update: Stephen replied below, and I spoke to Florian on reception who said that a manager would be in contact. It’s been two weeks now and no contact. Stay clear. Further update: Stephen did get in contact by email and said he was sorry and they’d make changes as a result, which I’m skeptical about. Pleased at how many views this is getting. Hope it has saved some of you from making the same mistake.

Negative experience: I had high hopes as I was traveling on business and stayed in Feb 2025, but I left feeling very disappointed with the overall experience. Issues included: A faulty lock on my room door A bath that didn’t work A leaking stone surround on the window, which required me to mop up water with bath towels I reported these problems to the front desk upon departure and was promised a call from the duty manager, which never happened. I chalked this up as a nice location but decided I wouldn’t return—and thought no more about it—until 9 months later when I received an email chasing payment for another guest. This guest was not connected to me, my company, or even my stay dates. The only explanation given was that they were auditing accounts and somehow my email was attached to the request. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing, both during the stay and in the follow-up.

Fantastic experience: The venue catered for my mother’s wake & put us in a lovely separate room which was ideal. The staff were all very smart, professional & kind. They looked after us superbly - I cannot praise them enough.

Fantastic experience: Hidden gem and great new addition to Marriott’s portfolio. The hotel is in beautiful historic grounds featuring a topiary garden, church and old village. We were in a house deluxe room overlooking the gardens which I would highly recommend (Note that barn rooms are in a separate complex that requires walking outside to get to the breakfast, bar and spa) We stayed during autumn and it was lovely and cosy inside the main house with fireplaces lit, dimmed lighting and a great atmosphere - I imagine it must be lovely here at Christmas time (they do a three day package). The spa though basic offers a simple, clean pool for swimming and the spa treatments were extremely good with well trained therapists. As others have said some parts of the hotel like the corridors are a bit old/worn but that is expected with an old property, our room appeared to have mostly brand new furniture and new power shower facilities, good heating/cooling system, along with Molton brown toiletries which elevated the experience. For the price paid the hotel is incredibly good value. We had breakfast included which was a standard buffet and decent quality but served in a beautiful old dining room, we had dinner here on one evening which was an exceptional setting. All the staff we engaged with were very friendly and welcoming. Overall I would highly recommend staying here a few nights for a relaxing break and getting Ubers, which are readily available to the local town and attractions. My only feedback for improvements is the beds/bedding could be a bit softer and there should be some drawers in the room to store clothes, our robes were missing in our room on arrival too. Lastly, there seemed to be a lot of staff members standing around and we thought they could be a bit more efficient, attentive and professional so perhaps some more training there.

Positive experience: I recently stayed at Billesley Manor Hotel and found it to be something of a mixed bag, though with more positives than negatives overall. The Standout: Service & Dining The staff throughout the hotel were genuinely fantastic - welcoming, attentive, and clearly committed to ensuring guests had a pleasant stay. Both the room service and breakfast were excellent, with quality food delivered with care and efficiency. This level of service really elevated the experience. The Spa Experience The spa facilities themselves were great and provided a relaxing environment. However, my treatment was somewhat marred by the therapist, who came across as slightly hostile and gave the distinct impression they'd rather be anywhere else. It's unfortunate when one staff member's attitude undermines an otherwise quality facility. The Accommodation The rooms where dogs are allowed, are showing their age and could benefit from some updating and refreshment. More significantly, the soundproofing is practically non-existent - you can hear everything happening in adjacent rooms and corridors, which can seriously impact your ability to relax or get a good night's sleep. Overall Verdict Billesley Manor has real potential, and the exceptional service from most of the team makes up for some of the property's shortcomings. However, the lack of soundproofing and tired rooms mean it doesn't quite deliver the premium experience you might expect. Worth a visit for the grounds and service, but go in with realistic expectations about the accommodation quality

Negative experience: Have tried to ring the spa several times with no answer. I pressed 3 each time for the spa as instructed by the automated introduction. One call was picked up, I briefly said my enquiry was to book a spa day and the receptionist irritably told me I had come through to room reservations and transferred me without waiting for a response, for the phone to then yet again ring out at the spa. I tried to call room reservations back to see if the receptionist there would be able to help me, and the call rang out again. Useless, rude, and very unhelpful. I won't be coming here now.

Positive experience: Spent a lovely weekend here, the place has great buildings and beautiful surrounding grounds. Rooms were clean and large, beds were comfortable, linen and towels were clean, bathroom was large although the bath was small. The advertised king size bed were two singles pushed zipped together, which felt like a bit of a con. The carpet in the hallway had dark satins on it, evidence of some previous flood? Breakfast was lovely. We ate there Saturday evening but weren’t impressed with the very limited menu and mainly cold choice of starters. Even the waiter admitted it was a poor choice and said he would mention it to the chef if he wasn’t carrying anything sharp at the time. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The few times I needed to go to reception there was no one there. After waiting I had to go and ask other nearby staff, who seemed preoccupied with moving the table, if they could find the receptionist. I had read some reviews and the manager had replied with “oh what a shame you didn’t tell us at the time!” The single ‘king’ rooms were £254 with breakfast and cancellation, the twin was £267, which was pricey for what was delivered! When we checked out, we mentioned the choice in the restaurant and the lack of ground decaf coffee to the receptionist, they apologised but there was no evidence of anything being logged so feedback could be passed on to the manager, so nothing is going to change there. As lovely as the location was, purely on the basis of the food, we wouldn’t stay there again. Asked for a decaf latte and caught the waiter adding instant coffee to hot milk, no!

Positive experience: My fiancée and I booked the A Morning To Spa package on a Friday, and overall we had a really lovely experience. The setting of the manor is beautiful. Even though the weather wasn’t great when we visited, you can tell the gardens and grounds would be perfect to relax in on a sunny day. We spent a few hours enjoying the pool, sauna, and steam room before our treatments. The facilities were all clean and well maintained, though the spa area itself isn’t very big. It wasn’t a problem for us as it was fairly quiet, but I can imagine it might feel a bit crowded if it got busy. The changing rooms were excellent – spacious, with both benches and private booths, good showers, and quality shampoo and body wash provided. I had the 30-minute Scalp, Neck and Shoulder Massage, which was lovely. The therapist was great and I felt totally relaxed afterwards. The only downside was that it didn’t quite last the full 30 minutes – I was called in about 10 minutes late and the treatment finished roughly 20 minutes later. Most of the focus was on the scalp rather than the shoulders, but it was still a very good treatment. Afterwards, we finished our morning with a cream tea, which was delicious. The scones were a generous size (two each) and came with plenty of jam and clotted cream. There was a small mix-up with our drinks order, but once that was sorted we really enjoyed it. One small thing that could be improved is the arrival experience. The package mentioned tea or coffee on arrival, but we weren’t offered this when we checked in. Aside from that, all the staff were polite and welcoming, and the whole experience felt like good value for money. With a few small tweaks, this could easily be a top-rated spa day. We’d definitely come back if we were in the area.

Positive experience: Visited for an afternoon tea. We were the only customers initially, the service was very slow. The food was presented well and good quality. However, the dining room is very much in need of a good clean, the cobwebs and dust spoilt the luxurious building. The staff were polite and friendly.

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely stay overall. The hotel itself is beautiful, with great views, and the staff everywhere—from reception to the spa and restaurant—were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, a typical high-standard Marriott experience. The only real downside was dinner. Despite having a 7 pm reservation, we ended up sitting for 2 hours before finishing, and our 8-year-old son was nearly falling asleep at the table. The main dish (meat) arrived cold, though fortunately it wasn’t charged. Still, paying £75 for two adults and one child felt a bit steep for the experience. Overall, it’s a great hotel with wonderful service, but dinner service could definitely be improved.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from a 4 day stay at Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa near Stratford upon Avon. The room was fantastic with views across the gardens and everything you could need provided. The breakfast which was included in the price was excellent and all the staff attentive and genuinely keen to please. We had spa treatments which were good value and very professionally organised. Highly recommended a we will definitely go again!!!

Fantastic experience: Unusual to give 5 star just based on service and issues we encountered but I must say the attitude of a young man Caelan earned the 5 star. His job was not to clean our bathrooms, provide towels or make our bed but he was sent to our room to rectify the issues. He did so with grace and was totally professional, never complained, never said a bad word about housekeeping and went above and beyond. He’s a young man and it’s hard to find someone especially at this age to be so mature and professional beyond anyone’s expectations. This is a rather small hotel so you won’t get 10 different front manager and Ed was so understanding and did everything he could to help us. At the end I read reviews and noticed that Jason the General Manager always said in his reply to contact him for issues whilst staying there. I did contact him for a couple of reasons, first one to tell him about Caelan and then to address the issues. He was honest, upfront and I really respected this because he didn’t go in defensive mode and he is doing his very best to address the issues. Not an easy task when dealing with guests and in house staff but he does it extremely well. Takes a special person. The garden which was attended by Mark looks amazing considering the lack of rainfall he managed to make it look beautiful. Kudos to the amazing staff carrying the housekeeping and service staff. It’s a shame the service staff in the bar and restaurant makes you feel like an inconvenience. As for housekeeping Don’t get me started. All I would say is that if you have any issues when you are staying there it’s best to talk to Jason and look out for Ed on front desk as well as Caelan who earned the 5 star. Mark the gardener is definitely not to be forgotten as it’s the first thing you see upon arrival.

Positive experience: I went for afternoon tea and was very disappointed for the following reasons: •The tea was served in horrid thick tea cups; it of course should be served in bone china cups & saucers! •No hot water was served with the tea. •The tea served was in tea bags; it should be leaf tea. • No cucumber served with or in the sandwiches.

Positive experience: Location is beautiful, rooms were fine, but service was terrible. This hotel has lots of potential, but unfortunately it is obviously badly managed with poorly trained staff. The staff need to be trained how to accommodate and welcome people. Instead they had the constant attitude that they were doing us a favour to the very basics of their job. Spa was good, but demanding up front payment for bookings when you are staying in the hotel was disappointing. Grounds are in need of maintenance.

Negative experience: Was not given room booked. 4pm late checkout not honored for Marriott status. Flies throughout breakfast/restaurant area. Edit in response to property response: I was never informed that the room I was given was an "upgrade." The room I was given was available at the same (points) rate as the room I booked; so, it seems misleading to refer to it as an upgrade. My booking was changed, without my consent, to a room of equal cost that I believed was worse.

Positive experience: I love this place and have been coming here for the last 12 years . I Couldn't fault the place until I came here yesterday 01Aug 25. Rooms and service all the same exceptional quality as before but since a recent change of management, the food menu and quality has all gone and more like an Ember inn menu. Gone has the expertly cheffed and cooked venison, duck and posh steaks with quirky vegetables and sides to be replaced with fish and chips or tikka massala !! Also the farm reared breakfast sausages that were so tasty have been downgraded to some tastless cheap supermarket replacement! This manor house deserves the best for the price it costs to stay their so please return it to its former self that everyone enjoyed. Thank you.

Negative experience: Lovely location, listed building with nice gardens which appeals on first arrival, unfortunately it's all downhill from there. Permanent queue at reception with 3 staff behind the counter but only one serving customers is the norm. Can't get a meal in the restaurant despite numerous empty tables. No lift, I know it's a listed building but there are numerous other listed buildings with lifts, or reasonable alternatives. Dirty rooms, ridiculously low bar tables, limited unimaginative menu's in both the restaurant and bar, very slow processes around reception - a lovely old building in a great location very poorly managed!

Positive experience: The outside and the grounds are beautiful. The location is near town and Ubers are available. Inside is nice but could be improved. It was not what we expected in a portfolio property. There is no elevator. The route to our room involved narrow spiral stairs and multiple doors. The carpet is in great need of replacement. Negative experience: We were in Room 2, at the back by the kitchen extractor fan, the windows were old steel windows single glazed windows, most probably as a result of grade 1 or 2 listing. Anyway the problem was the windows did not close properly letting all the noise from the extraction fan in resulting in a very noisy room up to 11pm and from 6 am in the morning. We also booked a king room, the bed we got was bearly a double bed. This long weekend is a weekend we would not like to repeat. If you do go to this hotel request any other room that room 2.

Negative experience: Absolutely appalling service from what is supposedly a 5* establishment. Poor quality rooms and pub standard food! We arrived with no children in hope to make the most of facilities, the area etc, and unfortunately ended up leaving before treatments. We paid for the deluxe suite, which had a connecting door to the room next door. Meaning all activities next door we could hear clear as day. They were partying till 2am and we eventually got moved to a downgrade with no bath, aircon, fridge facilities etc. There was no apology, we left before our spa treatments as we needed to drive home and get some rest before collecting our children, in which we are still, 2 and half weeks awaiting a refund with our emails being ignored. As for the food, we paid for the restaurant for one waiter to tell us ‘I don’t want you to complain but the beef is really small and not worth the money’ the wrong order came out, then when ours cam was microwave meal standard. We paid £12 for the cheese board for it to come with 3 SMALL pieces of cheese, one of which you can get unlimited amount at breakfast but there tight with how much you can have on the cheese board (a small arla cheese finger) Appalling customer service. Really underwhelming for £445

Negative experience: This was our 4th visit in as many years, The room was brilliant as was the food. Unfortunately the bar was hopeless for drinks. I have never known a hotel to run out of champagne, prosecco, pino grigio. One beer was unable. They advertised at least 5 vodkas only one was available. Although our one day is not all about alcohol, the one special night we get to go away was not all it could have been. Also for the first time we saw Rats in the grounds one seen by the fountain and a 2nd appeared by our table as we sat outside. Will be looking else where next year when we can purchase what we want, and don't have rodents at our feet.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for taking time to review your stay. I am sorry that we had supply issues with a number of our beverage items during your visit, this was not our intention, we do aim to order enough stock, but sometime get it wrong.
Our rural setting is idyllic, however there are draw backs and can assure you we have frequent contractor visits to manage these situations.
As past guests I do hope that you will return to Billesley once more.

Positive experience: Billesley manor is a charming old tudor house with beautiful grounds and thoughtfully planted gardens. The hotel is Very close to Shakespeare’s birth place. The amenities are comfortable, especially the bed and bathroom facilities. The restaurant food quality is excellent. However some attention to detail in customer service from staff would have elevated the experience. Staff may have been overstretched so we found some of our requests had been forgotten. Nevertheless a pleasant stay overall.

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely weekend stay at Billesley Manor from 3 to 5 May. The room was beautifully appointed, the bathroom excellent, and the Molton Brown toiletries were a welcome touch. The hotel grounds are stunning and the availability of EV charging was a big plus. Special thanks to Florin at reception, who made us feel genuinely welcome — professional, warm and attentive throughout. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium for Life member, I’ve stayed in many Marriott properties, and it’s great to see Billesley Manor recently join the portfolio. There’s some room for improvement, particularly with breakfast (which lacked variety and vegan options) and the welcome experience for Elite members, which didn’t quite meet typical Marriott standards. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our stay and I look forward to seeing the hotel continue to settle into its new Marriott identity. With a few refinements, it has the potential to be a real gem.

Negative experience: Tried to email the hotel about holding a Conference at the hotel in September but the none of the email contact forms work. Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved our stay at Billesley Manor! The location was perfect, and the architecture of the hotel was stunning. We especially enjoyed spending time in the garden area and taking in the beautiful surrounding views. Positive experience: We stayed one night and had breakfast. The outdoor space is very charming with a beautiful garden and the look and feel of an old English manor. The location was ideal as we wanted to be away from the various touristic places such as Stratton upon Avon. The place is rustic which comes which history and charming traits. However the room was dated, and the bathroom clearly required a full renovation.

Positive experience: Nice grounds spoilt slightly by the amount of litter in the parking area. The quality of the food was good but the service disappointing, a lot of staff but they seemed unsure of what to do. The corridor leading to the restaurant was left with empty plates which didn't give a good impression. Problems with the ordering system which we were told due to a new ipad system. Drinks menu incorrect, ordered a pint of ipa which came in bottle but were still charged the same price.

Fantastic experience: The Perfect Spa Day!!! From the start we had a lovely welcome from spa staff, then a lovely relaxing treatment. The spa team were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. After our relaxing chill in their Spa we had an afternoon tea booked and wow wow was it good!! We sat outside (very lucky to come on such a beautiful sunny day). Harriet served us and she was so attentive and friendly. The afternoon tea was delicious (including the Gluten Free option!!) We really couldn’t have asked for a better day- the grounds are absolutely stunning. We felt like we had escaped life for a day and felt so relaxed. The birds chirping and the water fountain sounds- bliss! We just wish the day lasted longer and we will 100% be returning again soon!!

Negative experience: Really disappointed with the service. Tried to book our one night stay and they didn't have the availability i was after, 4 months ahead.. said i would come back to them with a few other dates then. Called back with a date and asked if they had availability, they said they did, great! as soon as i went to book using my voucher, i was told 'Oh we have no availability for voucher holders" so i said okay.. what dates you have available. To be told they have no dates at all. When asked what i was meant to do then, i have a voucher i want to use.. i was told to go back to Virgin and get a refund. So you have availability but not for voucher holders.. even though we have spent our money on the voucher so don't fully understand the problem, also don't appreciate the service. Felt very Rude and dismissed.

Negative experience: I was purchased a voucher as a 'thank you' for this manor in September of last year for a Spa day for 2, with afternoon tea, which sounded lovely. I tried to call several times towards the end of last year to book, however there was a staffing issue and nobody from the Spa could book me in (I was redirected to the hotel who could not help me). I did manage to speak to a gentleman who did not know how to process my voucher (it was purchased through Groupon), however he took my detials and was going to call me back to either book me in or offer instructions on how I processed the booking. All I had was the gift QR code and the security code for the voucher. Fast forward 3 months to today and I've just followed this up. I explained teh situation to Holly, who told me that all they need is the voucher security code - result! Or not. The voucher had apparently expired and there was nothing that they could do. I was told that Groupon had my money (*not mine - it was a gift) and not them, and that I would need to speak to them. Is this how groupon works? I have sold vouchers myself in the past through groupon and always received funds (minus the comission) upon sale of the voucher. This leaves me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and a bit of lost credibility for Billesley Manor.

Hi Adam,
I am sorry that I did not have the opportunity to talk to you in regard to your voucher. We do aim to work with groupon and our guests the best way possible, however if the voucher has expired we are unable to redeem this as explained by Hollie.
It is certainly not our intention to disappoint.

Fantastic experience: Overnight stay in March 2025. Easy location to find and plenty of car parking. We stayed in a room in the main part of the hotel. Very clean, bed very comfy and bathroom well stocked with toiletries. Room was also very quiet despite the hotel being busy. All staff we met were incredibly friendly and helpful, whether on reception, the bar or working in the restaurant. We ate dinner in the restaurant. Had three courses. Every course delicious. Breakfast was also superb with a massive range of continental and 'full English' options. Hotel very close to Stratford, literally a 5 min drive away.

Positive experience: Had a lovely stay here for 2 nights. Staff were friendly and attentive and very helpful. Room was nice and large and the simplicity of just pressing the buttons for the showers/bath was a nice touch . Use of the spa facilities was easy and again staff were helpful, the sauna was a bit small, the steam room was bigger and the pool area had lots of seating. Breakfast had a nice variety of choices and gluten free options are available on request, but please do ask. Wife didn't get any bacon/sausages on the first visit, but 2nd morning she had it freshly cooked for her. If you don't want to use the hotel wi-fi, reception for 5g/4g is a bit slow and limited in some areas of the hotel.

Fantastic experience: We booked a spa morning with coffee on arrival and cream tea. Had a lovely morning using the pool, sauna and steam room. Treatment was good, I had a facial and my friends all enjoyed their treatments too. The staff in the spa were super friendly, helpful and professional. Fantastic experience: Fantastic weekend stay!! I purchased a virgin experience weekend stay here and it did not disappoint at all. The booking team was fantastic as the day before our dog injured himself and we couldn't get a vets appointment so the staff at Billesley manor kindly changed the date for us but 2 hours later we managed to get to the vets and our dog got the all clear and the staff changed the dates back for us without hesitation. Arriving at the hotel we were created by an amazing team who were very welcoming, friendly, informative and down to earth which made us feel comfortable instantly. The pool, steamroom and sauna were included which me and my partner took full advantage of and the atmosphere was perfect. We stayed in a barn superior room which was also warm and inviting. Very well set out and cleaned to a high standard with everything you could need there in the room to use. The buffet style breakfast was high quality food and again a very warm and welcoming atmosphere with very friendly and professional staff. Our stay was perfect and we couldn't be happier with our stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place for a relaxing retreat in the UK countryside. The place is a grand old-style manor, with some similarities to a medieval castle. Rooms are nice and clean. Negative experience: The Hotel itself is beautiful, and feels like at some point not too long ago this was a really special place to come.. really close to the wonderful Stratford-upon-Avon. However, the same cannot be said for our visit at the start of 2025... The accommodation: We stayed in a 'superior' room in the barn... despite being close to the main building this could not feel more neglected... in urgent need of TLC and piles of rubbish left for hours each day by the entrance... there wasn't one single day that there wasn't a rubbish pile greeting us as we came or went! I have added some pictures... the pillows are flat and lumpy, walls are paper thin, soap dispensers empty, bathroom was FREEZING COLD!... the list goes on... The spa: Disappointing, there is ample room to update these facilities and bring in a hot tub (or perhaps log burning hot tubs in the grounds?). The pool area feels dated and cold, not very relaxing... the sauna and steam room are in good nick, but way too small. One of the reasons that we chose the hotel was that it had dedicated adult only hours - however in our experience these are not adhered to, as we were checking into the spa on new years day a football team of prepubescent boys came screaming passed us... when we challenged this due to the supposed 'adult only hours' - we were met with a weak excuse of 'slightly different hours today' (this honestly felt like the young ladies would rather turn us down then the hoard of boys and their dads they had just permitted) - this meant we couldn't use the facilities at all on our first day. Breakfast: You have to book your 'slot' (something I have never experienced in a hotel), and get in there quick, because you WILL be left with the 7:45am slot, they all get booked up! I though breakfast was OK overall, but seemed more akin to a breakfast you would have in a hotel 20 years ago (eg only filter coffee available, lack of fresh fruit, no yoghurt etc). The service: Everyone seems new, inexperienced and overstretched... not very relaxing to have staff running about around you stressed out, and several times had to endure and older gentleman server on the breakfast service screaming at the younger staff.. not very professional! This place has huge potential, but as it stands, I would not return.

Negative experience: I recently stayed at the hotel for a romantic getaway. Whilst here my partner booked a surprise treatment for me at the spa. Sadly it was the worst massage I have ever had. I adhered to the rule of being 15mins early to the appointment and then had to wait an additionally 20mins before I was seen for the massage. The massage started with being slapped on the back with oil which was cold and a bit of a shock! The lady was sniffing the whole time which was very off putting. She stayed in the same place for the majority of the massage and I didn't feel like I had even pressure on both sides. The lady seemed so disinterested, the whole experience was awful. When she said she had finished the massage I genuinely thought she was joking. Such a let down as the rest of the stay was nice. Just to update - I didn't receive any follow up after being told someone would be in touch

Positive experience: Just come back from a 2 day break. Our barn room was lovely. No noise. Perfect. The manor house has lots of character. Staff very polite and friendly. Very close to stratford upon avon. Set in pretty gardens. Only negative eating in the bar has no tables high enough for comfort . Has to be eaten on your lap. If you eat in the restaurant they put 10% service charge which is naughty as it should be down to the customer if they wish to tip. Not come across any other hotel that does this. It is discretionary. But your left embarrassed for refusing.

Negative experience: I strongly advise against booking this hotel. Despite being advertised as pet-friendly on Booking.com, and despite my explicit indication of traveling with a dog during the booking process, the hotel accepted my non-refundable payment only to inform me hours later that they cannot accommodate pets in the booked room type. They refused to provide a refund, suggesting I contact Booking.com instead. This forced me to make last-minute alternative arrangements at additional cost, significantly disrupting my travel plans with an international guest. The hotel's practice of accepting bookings they cannot fulfill while hiding behind the non-refundable policy appears deliberately misleading. Their unwillingness to resolve the situation, despite immediate communication from my side, demonstrates poor business ethics and customer service.

Positive experience: This is the second time we've visited Billesley Manor. The location is perfect being out on the countryside so you get the peace and quiet, but close enough to Stratford to drive in for the day. Service from all the staff has been superb, being very polite, helpful and accommodating where needed. The quality of the food is high and very tasty, however I would say prices are a bit excessive for the food and drink. Something to consider should you stay for food. Breakfast is a good level of quality self serve style. Some good selection of cereals and fruit available.

Positive experience: Had a spa morning with a friend, whilst all very nice, there were a few things that let it down. 9.30 and changing rooms were a bit smelly, 1 toilet had 2 empty toilet rolls on the floor, the other the spare roll and clearly been dropped the wet floor. Whilst offering a swimsuit dryer, which is really helpful, a plastic bag to out wet swimsuit in would be helpful! (compostable or recyclable to be planet friendly.) Provided with 1 towel ...but if you get out of pool and wrap yourself in it...nothing to then dry yourself with after shower!) None of these things ruined the experience but would just have made the place feel more luxurious. Had cream tea to finish off the day around 1pm, and it was delicious.

Fantastic experience: A friend and I stayed in the Deluxe room for two nights and had a great time. The only small “issue” was that the hotel is so big and we couldn’t follow the instructions to find our room so we had to ask a member of staff to show us - signs on doors could definitely be clearer as the door we were supposed to go through is clearly labelled as a fire door. Anyway, the room was spacious and furnished to a high standard, I loved the Molton Brown hand wash, shampoo, conditioner and hand balm, lovely touch. Our booking included two glasses of Prosecco upon arrival (below average, very sweet and barely any bubbles), £70 to be split between both of us for the first dinner and two breakfasts so all in all it made it very good value for money. The dinner was impeccable, service was a little bit slow by not a big deal - the majority of staff are very young and probably still learning but they’re nice and friendly. Breakfast was good, it had plenty of options for me, the only thing I didn’t enjoy much was the filter coffee - there are plenty of coffee machines in the hotel that can be used for better options. The pool was great although it could get crowded at times and some families were clearly ignoring the “no jumping” signs. A bit on the short side but not too short. Gardens were lovely and there was always something to do - I’m not the kinda person to just chill in the hotel, I’m all about walks and just sleeping in the hotel but Billesley completely changed my outlook! 100% recommend, just make sure you book the spa in advance - we managed to squeeze in a massage, 25min for £60 seemed a bit pricey but it was a nice treat.

Positive experience: Chose Billesley as we were in the area for an event and wanted to stay somewhere special. We weren't disappointed, it's a beautiful property in lovely quiet surrounds (unless you count the sheep in the background!). We were lucky to stay on a very hot day and could enjoy the grounds in the sun and enjoy sitting out on the terrace in the evening after dinner. Our room was the basic category so not huge but well equipped and with a comfy bed. Good sized bathroom with modern fittings. We had a lovely dinner in the main restaurant, lovely food and nice wines. Breakfast was a buffet with typical choices. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would happily go back.

Fantastic experience: Myself and partner stayed here for a few nights. The manor is beautiful stunning, the staff are really helpful friendly and polite. Our room was ok huge bed which I'm sure was super king, air con in the room, the bathroom was lovely with Moulton Brown was products which smell devine. ( I now want to buy it but unsure of the scents) We had breakfast which is buffet style the quality of the bacon and sausages was really good and piping hot, being dairy free i asked if they could make scrambled eggs with out milk this was no problems on both mornings, it was the best scrambled egg I've had. I really hope to stay here again soon.

Positive experience: - Rooms are not bad. The layout was a bit odd. They put the bed in front of the hallway when you enter the room, which gives only a little path to move to front of the bed. Also, the aircon blows cold air straight to your face when sleeping because of this. Some rooms looks to the inner roof which has loads of ducting so not a great view from the window. - Food is excellent but we had to wait 70minutes to get our dinner. Also the tables were really sticky. -Electric car charging is overpriced. £0.60/kW (21/07/2024)is motorway price and only can deliver 22kW. They could have put a 3 pin socket there it would make more sense as it can charge overnight. Not the best experience, but it is close to Stratford upon avon, which has loads of things to do.

Negative experience: Got the impression that our 'cosy' room would be luxurious but was tiny with no fridge or wardrobe, not what we expected from reading previous reviews. Lovely bathroom, building and grounds. Continuous rumbling noise from outside (think it was from a boiler?) This was a birthday treat for husband, so was so disapointed to find a very basic spa. Cold water in pool and no jacuzzi .

Negative experience: Firstly I just want to say the building and it's surroundings are lovely. Also the majority of staff were very good and pleasant. Let's begin. This is not a hotel and spa. It's a hotel with a swimming pool. The massages were poor and my massage was cut short by 10 minutes. The rooms are basic. Bathroom was done nice and was very clean. When booking a spa night you get dinner included with a £30 allowance per person. This barely covers your meal. The service was very slow. Took ages to get plates cleared and ages to get the order taken. The worst part was that I had a tikka masala which was £18. It stated (this is with chicken or paneer). I got the bill and they added £6 on for chicken. So the bill was £88. Then we had the bill back and it said £89.25. they had removed the chicken but added on a service charge, which wasn't on the original bill. This is disgusting!!! Trying to add money on and hope people don't clock it. This was not a honest mistake. It was quite clearly deliberate and horrendous behaviour!!!!! There are plenty more hotels/spas in the area to visit than this one. Give it a swerve people!!! Waste of money!!!! ps. We've just eaten the breakfast. Everything was cold, eggs took ages to come out, no milk served with the tea and the tea was like warm, no bread at the toaster, no tea spoons, no butter for the toast. The staff run round like headless chickens. Doesn't seem to be very organised at all!!

Dear Mrs. Bradley,

I have responded to your complaint via email today which was sent yesterday.

Although I have to admit, your review takes a much harsher stance on the issues you faced and I can only wish you had spoken to us at the time so we could have had the opportunity to address these.

Regarding your bill, this was a genuine mistake and user error, however I'm sorry to see you have taken this mistake as some kind of malicious act which is categorically not the case.

Negative experience: Unkempt, unloved and dirty is how I'd describe this hotel. If you look at how the manager responds to complaints you'll see what I mean about his attitude, he pays lip service and says he's grateful for feedback and things will change but nothing has, he has a pretty standard response to everything, not an asset and does not seem to support the overworked staff. Booked this through Virgin, we were celebrating an anniversary, it's a mixed review. Management are defensive and hide away leaving the young staff overwhelmed, the manager I spoke to seemed overblown with his own self importance. Breakfast this morning was a shambles, no eggs available for 10 mins, unfortunately eggs are at the last station so forced to eat a cold breakfast if you wait or you go without, the manager said they were doing their best - at this price that's not good enough - at a budget hotel I would understand this more. Yesterday morning a woman approached a member of staff to ask if the bar was open, she'd been waiting for 10 mins - she was told there were two staff working, they'd be around somewhere? We were in room 70, don't choose this if you don't want a view of the air conditioning. The room itself was nice, check the toiletry pumps for the shower, we had no shower gel in ours and had to transfer hand soap into a glass. Complimentary robes were good and you can use these in the spa. Young man at the spa was fantastic, really friendly. Pool good, sauna and steam room very small, steam room wasn't working well, not hot and hardly any steam except for by the ceiling. Seats outside with the green cushions absolutely filthy, you can't help birds soiling but you can clean it off, this was there the whole 2 days we visited. The hotel pushes the Shakespeare link everywhere which is it's USP so understandable - the As You Like It room is lovely as is the bar and the Stuart dining room with beautiful panelling. Not a luxury experience, carpets in hallways are dirty and stained, room trays were left in stairwells when we left at 10 am and were still there when we got back at 2.15. There was a smell of sewage on the 1st floor as we walked through yesterday, we didn't smell it today though. Lovely lawn and fountain and the outside of the hotel looks beautiful from there. This hotel seems to be relying on it's history link and doesn't seem to think it needs to do anything else. It has an unkempt, unloved feeling about it. I would not recommend unless you love the historical link. Not a luxury experience and the management don't seem to care so no point in complaining, just book elsewhere. Update following hotel response: The red haired manager in the burgundy suit tried to speak to me ONCE (after checking a couple in for breakfast, seating them and taking their drink orders) - they'd probably been waiting a while as the poor overwhelmed staff are trying to check people in for breakfast, seat them, take orders, bring drinks, clear tables and replenish food - there are not enough staff to deal with breakfast which led to my complaint in the first place. Having listened to you for two minutes and seen how defensive you were I knew there was no point in wasting any more of my time, I declined to come and see you after breakfast and told you I would leave a review instead. Nothing you could have told me would explain or rectify the service issues we faced, we won't be returning and if you go through previous reviews you will see these issues have been raised previously, lip service was paid re changes being made but the same things are still happening, this tells me everything about your approach to customer service.

Dear Mrs. Pharoah,

Many thanks for taking the time to leave this review.

I'm disappointed to see your comments after repeated attempts to try and speak to you on the day in question. Unfortunately these attempts were met with a blunt refusal by yourself which is a shame.

All feedback is of importance to us here at the hotel, both good and bad, as without it we wouldn't be able to improve where needed and praise where we get things right.

I will of course take on board your comments and feedback to the relevant HOD's to improve in the areas needed.

I'm just saddened that we weren't given the opportunity at the time to try and rectify the issues you faced.

Kindest regards,

Paul Woodhouse

Positive experience: We booked a deluxe room in the main house, nicely appointed and spacious. Dined in the restaurant, food was good quality and sensibly sized portions. We had some of the wines by the glass and they were pretty average. Dining service staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. We found most of the other staff fairly sullen. Hotel is very picturesque and the grounds pleasant. We found there was a corporate event taking place whilst we were staying which meant the bar and other areas were very busy and noisy....not the relaxing luxury break advertised. If we'd known, we would have booked elsewhere. Overall, an OK but mixed stay. Would not put it in the luxury category.

Positive experience: A really beautiful hotel set in the countryside with ample parking. There’s a lovely feel to the Manor especially with such stunning grounds and welcoming spa area. we enjoyed seeing the groundsmen tending to the trees, topiary and guttering, they all appeared to love their work. The pool was so refreshing we used it twice during our stay. Our room was huge, it looked to be the biggest available on the floor plan so I can't comment on the standard rooms. However ours was nicely decorated with a super king bed that was more than big enough for us to both star fish on, and we had a lovely clean bathroom. Carpets are a huge thing for me and our room was spotlessly clean. However I couldn't say the same for the communal areas, the carpets were pretty stained and used glasses and plates were left on the main landing where people entertained for almost 24 hours which I'm sure will encourage rodents in a building this old. Our food at dinner was beautifully presented and tasty, however the service staff appeared a little distant and not the most attentive. The restaurant host and cocktail staff were however super friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I don't drink but they made some amazing non alcoholic concoctions for us. Our breakfast was super, absolutely in every way, from hot food through to continental offerings, however again the carpet took my attention as we were one of the first down to the restaurant in the morning and yet the floor had not been vacuumed from the night before which was disappointing. All in all a great little vacation break with just a few details that need tightening up.

Positive experience: Wonderful elizabethan Manor House oozing history and quality with a spa boasting a gym and pool . I would normally have given a 5 star rating however house keeping was poor as they never replenished the tea and coffee sachets I even left the caddy out and they put it away empty. Also and worse we ate of the bar menu all 3 nights in the minstrel gallery and on the 3rd night as soon as we had eaten our last mouthful of food are plates were taken away and we were asked to vacate the area. All they had to do was put reserved on the tables and we would have sat elsewhere. After over 25 years in hospitality I can't blame the staff there should be a management structure front if house to run things . It's a basic requirement. We will however return and hope these issues will be resolved as it is a fantastic building.

Fantastic experience: Stayed for a night with dinner and breakfast with my partner. Staff - approachable, helpful and professional at all times. Vivienne was super friendly and enhanced our dining experience Rooms - Spacious and comfortable, TV with all expected channels, complimentary teas and coffees. The bathroom was surprisingly big. Dinner- beautiful setting, food came quickly and was packed with flavour. Some really well thought out dishes (only downside could be the small portion sizes considering the price). Breakfast- everything you can expect from a hotel buffet breakfast, enjoyable and good array of options. Location- Beautiful manor house with wonderful gardens. Located 10 minutes from Stratford upon Avon. Overall- We throughly enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend for a quiet get away
