The Alan Higgs Centre

Positive experience: The health suit is poorly maintained and not big enough. The jacuzzi has never worked properly, the steam room works intermittently and at high attendance times, the sauna can get pretty packed, especially when the steam room isn't working, which can make it feel pretty uncomfortable. The pool is great but it's hardly ever open as a 50m. When they put the dividers in, it's 23.5m, which isn't good enough for people who need to train over 25m. Gym looks good and there's an on site food area for families to sit in during swimming lessons. Needs an overhaul and upgrade. Health suit really needs looking at.

Negative experience: I went today for a gym workout arrived at 8:30 waited 30 mins still closed was told the manager has the keys he is going to be 20 mins alot of people waiting outside to use gym and attend classes not good management no due care and responsibility.

Fantastic experience: How many know that part of the original "Italian Job" was filmed here?

Positive experience: My son attended his friends birthday party. It was a football themed party. The indoor football pitch was well lit and the astro turf very well kept. All I can say is, the kids had a great time at the venue.

Fantastic experience: Good Multi Sport Centre with Olympic size swimming pool.Very helpful staff. Nice Cafe with good range of snacks and nice coffee!

Negative experience: Finally on my final payment, I haven’t been back since the second month in. Absolutely disgusted. Because I my attention deficit disorder I did not realise I was being conned into a 6 month membership. Nothing was read out to me about this. I was just told to sign and make sure my details were correct. I thought I had to pay the membership and a month up front just because of a system they had put in place. Only to find out I cannot cancel. If you struggle like myself to understand what your signing stay well clear as they do not care if your a vulnerable adult. Looks like I have to continue until December paying for something I’m not going to use. Wrong on so many levels

Fantastic experience: This is my go to for aqua aerobics classes the staff here are so nice and helpful

Negative experience: JOKE!!! Kick of locals who have been playing for over 20 years for some rugby team from Leicester To play on what was made for football a football pitch. And now being told that we have to play one week on week off for the foreseeable future. Members Of staff apparently don't know who we are and can remember our booking although we've been playing there for many years. This is not the first problem we've hard. Staff always coming out late to open the pitch strolling round talking to each other, pitches not being organised, double bookings constant mix ups. Alan Higgs supposed to be local community use but instead they are money grabbing allowing RUGBY TEAMS from outside of Coventry to play on a FOOTBALL PITCH. Members of staff are absolutely clueless no help whatsoever just try and talk their way out of it.

Negative experience: Awful. 20 Yr pitch booking just removed when want based on who will pay more. No loyalty. Pitches have holes in and staff open pitches up late every week. Time to go somewhere else. Complaint ignored.

Positive experience: Staff always friendly and helpful. Good range of classes.

Negative experience: Do we really have to have blaring music and the pool attendees playing thier favourite ipod mixes so loud we can't think? Why does the centre think every member of the public will want this? Why can't the default be a peaceful swim for all?

Negative experience: Great pool but let down by Life Guards girating their hips to each to other across the pool to really loud music belting out over a rubbish PA. More like Ibiza pool party than Adult Swim Session.

Fantastic experience: Very clean facilities. Friendly staff Love the gym classes and the swimming pool. Overall I would recommend this leisure centre.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful management. A vulnerable adult with her carer got up skirted and when they caught the man management justified it by saying “well it happens all the time” this is not acceptable. Management were not willing to take this any further, would not recommend this facility to anyone especially females.

Positive experience: I just took my math exam there. They have good staff. It's just that it's very difficult to get there.

Fantastic experience: Good facilities and huge pool, the fitness suit is lacking though, with only one of certain equipment e.g. lat, it can be hard to work out on busy days (all weekdays). They do have facilities like a skate park and pump track and plenty of bike parking spaces.

Negative experience: Terrible place ever Jacuzzi never worked and they never worried about customers complaints they always lying to customers about services

Negative experience: One of the rubbishest places in city because of: 1:swim wear driyer it has been not working for two months and the most of customers need to using it but it is not available and me and too many of my friends we reported that to reception but they bringing a silly excuses about it and they don’t care. 2:they always turn jacuzzi off and they saying it is not working because of technical problems but they not honest because I think they trying to save some electrical energy. 3: once a week they using deep place from the pool for their staffs training and they take that time from the customers time 08:00-09:00 And they are not fair to do that because at this time it is already busy and they taking customers time to their staffs ,they can do that at different time Services Day by day getting worse in this place although they getting money from customers

Positive experience: Fantastic facilities... Ruined by the people... No one reinforcing any rules. Dirty shoes in the showers and around the pool,90% not showering before entering the water,youg kids in steam room...and so on. Lovely staff, super parking, great gym but... C'mon guys... Ok. That's it... I love it here but sometimes I don't. Highly recommend place

Positive experience: Loads of facilities which are great but massively let down by staff and standards. Staff always standing round chatting and on their phones. Swimming lessons get cancelled but no one informs you until your child is changed and ready to get in the pool. Changing facilities for swimming are always dirty. Gym is well equipped and pool is a great standard. Loads of parking available Cafe could be great again if the staff actually cared, can be really busy when football games are on.

Fantastic experience: I went to a class - Aqua Aerobics - and it was clean with a lot of changing rooms. The class was hard, but it was worth it.

Negative experience: Customer service is awful and rude. I had a very bad experience with receptionist,very rude and racist . I don't understand what they do at the reception never attend the call .To be very specific about the staff at reception who sits in the morning black woman has huge attitude and rude, last time I called for pool status she picked the call and didn't say' hello ' ,I kept calling her dozen of times after that however there was no response. They ignored your queries and mock at us. I don't know at what basis they have been hired. On the top of that manger is not helpful. They have their own rules ,staff is not in sync about any information. Have some kind of Courtesy when u speak who has membership since we pay huge amount every month for child swimming and adult.

Fantastic experience: The Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry is a fantastic sports facility.The Olympic-sized swimming pool is top-notch, the gym & indoor game facilities are well-equipped, and the fitness classes are excellent. The staff are friendly, and everything is clean and well-maintained. Great for families, athletes, and casual visitors alike.

Negative experience: Too many people, swimming pool is closed on the weekends, useless, i’m just waiting 6 months so I cancel my membership honestly

Positive experience: Staff have been helpful, the facilities are decent, but the parking and the roads within the centre... I think they've been in a better state during the Roman times. Com'on guys, why do I have to break my car's suspension on your roads? Also, why do you allow cars to stop wherever they want to pick up/drop off, as well as mount all the kerbs everywhere? Shame, the centre has huge potential.

Negative experience: The old lady receptionist always ignoring requests to open the gates and pretend not seeing you

Fantastic experience: As a recovering stroke victim learning to walk again, this venue has proved to be invaluable. The facilities are excellent, spotlessly clean and ALL the staff are caring people, making my visits both friendly and safe. The caring culture is exemplified by one lady in particular, 'Faith' from reception is always on hand to offer words of encouragement, for those of us striding to reach our goals, however small they may be. This venue, and the staff who work here, are simply brilliant, they not only look after your safety and well being, they encourage you to achieve more.

Fantastic experience: Unrivalled sports experience. Since the refurb (circa 2021) it has been unreal to play in. The ground itself is perfect, and the facilities around it are great. It’s robust build and great facilities are even more on show since the recent issues the cranford so-called “super” dome.

Fantastic experience: Bad, they double book, our time slot in the courts, now I am asking refund. Very messy. All courts busy all day, We booked 2 weeks in advance and still double booking, we leaved the place without not choice and of course we learn the lesson not to go again. And they plus have the audacity to tell me to come back another day for the refund. Thanks they refunded. We had bad luck that is it.

Negative experience: When I approached the reception to ask for assistance with my entry due to a faulty band, I encountered an unexpected level of unprofessionalism. I was polite in requesting help, but the receptionist’s response was quite rude and dismissive, which left me feeling uncomfortable and undervalued as a customer.

Fantastic experience: It is really good love it I try and goes at least 3 time as week. Staff are friendly and the pool is a big. The gym is big as well and they have lots of different equipment and the atmosphere is good and I have made friend at the gym people are friendly.

Negative experience: Swimming only caters for retired people and kids, if you have a job you have to go for a swin in the evening you can't go straight after work at 4/5, the gym equipment requires you to sign in with your email to use it. Also if you forget your band they won't let you in even if you can prove your a member awfull service all round

Negative experience: Poor membership service. Today I went to the gym and forgot my band. No compromise just straight forward NO. Even If the stuff know you're an existing customer. I was told can't come in. I am surprised that no one would even try to help me. What is the world coming to? Last weekend on Saturday I went to gym and there was no car park space could not even get into the gym with my band

Fantastic experience: Swimming pool, sauna, steam and jacuzzi. Clean and friendly staff compared many pleasure centers I have visited in Coventry. They also have a nice cafe with nice coffee, warm pastries and snacks.

Positive experience: Very clean and well staffed. Sports areas well stocked and clean. Well worth a visit..

Fantastic experience: Definitely the better facility out of all you can use. I find it to be clean and maintained, unlike some of the others! Staff have been very helpful when needed, and the swimming pool and area is always clean and tidy. I also like the fact you are able to use your wristband to access the lockers and not have to scramble around to find a £1 coin.

Negative experience: I felt receptionist not nice. Never seen them speaking politely witnessed many times with others as well. If you forget your wrist band you have to pay £3 and go. They can have other option to scan barcode in our mobile app. But even I requested them, they didn’t allow and also the replies are like commanding.

Negative experience: I just want to give a big thank you to your member of staff Alexa. She is a credit to the Centre, so knowledgeable, professional, friendly and goes the extra mile. Fantastic experience: Spectator at a football match in the pen, very close to the pitch. There was no coffee available in the clubhouse.

Positive experience: Beware of thieves, I left my locker unlocked for a minute, just went to changing cabin and my fleece and earphones have been stolen. There is no CCTV system in locker room.

Negative experience: Although I spent nice time with my colleagues I had bad experience when I found my windscreen shattered and the receptionist in the centre wasn't willing to show me the CCTV cameras saying that the windscreen been shattered because of the heat?? My lovely car had been serviced just 1 month ago and nothing was wrong with everything!!!

Negative experience: Good facilities but terrible speed of service, I have to call half a dozen times and often still get no awnser.

Fantastic experience: It's the largest and best leisure center. Lots of stuff for the whole family

Negative experience: The receipcenist vitoria was very rude. I had a bookings here when I reached the counter she asked me the name as I did not want to give my name I gave the booking receipt to her. she aggressively said this is not the name and was very rude which made me very upset also she said we can't get in even 2minutes before the booking time.

Negative experience: We are the regular customers of cv life and we do have activite membership with cv life. Today the receptionist named victoria treated us very rude. Where i am really upset on it. Every other people was in and she let us to wait outside and not sure the reason why. And asked us to wait outside the court till our game starts. But it wasnt for others not sure the reason why. I hope it should be the same rule for everyone. I am mentally upset on these kind of things before our game starts. I understand that you guys will take an action on this

Positive experience: Very extensive gym with a tracker on most machines to let you know how your progressing, also has a well being /mot machine too ,pool is an Olympic pool ,has plenty of other sport courts too ,cycle racks outside which was a big bonus to me ,only down side is the pool is out of use to the public most weekends due to events .

Positive experience: Fantastic facilities. The swimming pool is excellent changing area and showers are nice and big, plenty of room to get changed etc. Great value for money on the memberships. Classes are great also. Only downside is the amount of people using the gym I counted 82 people in there at once last week! It's a struggle to get on the machines you want and there no room in the free weight area. Some people have left to find other gyms because of this.

Positive experience: Friendly staff. Quite a large complex that houses more than you expect. We used the gym which has both electronic and manual equipment. We didnt have an induction so we weren't familiar with how things worked (need an app so that you can quickly scan to use equipment and record progress etc). There was wheelchair rugby happening in the sports hall, theres a cafe, lockers, exercise classes, swimming pool/lessons and a health suite (sauna/steam room). As a 1st time user we opted for pay as you gym, but we were advised of different membership options.

Positive experience: Played only football there. The pitches are great, especially the indoor one that was freshly resurfaced. It's a shame there's no loo dor the outdoor pitches. You have to go all the way around and through the reception for the bathroom inside. The parking is big but could do with some holes fixed. The gym and the pool look great from the outside. It's definitely a great overall sports center.

Positive experience: Swimming, gym and exercise classes all under one room.its very big venue for all types of sports the swimming pool is very big and ther are lanes for what type of swimmer you are There are stem room and jacuzzi too.Plenty of changing rooms and lock boxes to keep your property safe

Negative experience: The gym is going downhill!! The weights department when you pick the weights there is thuds of dust and fungas and the cardio machines top and under are absolutely discusting!thuds of dust again! The spin room was cleaned by a cleaner Sue and she did an amazing job that we all noticed how sparkling the room was. The gym needs more people like Sue to give the gym a good clean ! Many of us have complained and nothing is done about it. The communication is very poor when there is swimming gala and us members are not told NOT even the gym staff are told. The days when the car park is going to be full we as members should know about it as those days we are unable to get parking. I have also noticed on Mon and Tuesday a certain member of staff sits around in office due to a bad back and is unable to help members! I do fear for people if something goes wrong and that member of staff is unable to help! Hence why I have stopped going on Monday and Tuesday. Many members have approached the gym manager about it but nothing has ever been done about it! It's all wrong where customers are not listened to.

Fantastic experience: I've been bringing my daughter here for baby swim lessons since September and we are absolutely loving it. Every week she is excited to get into the pool and she has made lots of new friends. Michelle is our swim instructor for aquatots and she makes it fun for all the kids (and parents). Definitely will be recommending here for the swim facilities as they are accessible for all ages and disabilities.

Fantastic experience: First time I visited here and was very impressed. Staff very helpful & courteous amenities, very clean. I was so impressed I’ve now taken out a membership.

Positive experience: I prefer this location for the swimming pool but as the nights are drawing in, would expect the car park to be better lit, especially on the left side of the building (none of the lights seem to be working)

Fantastic experience: First time using the pool and was really impressed. Lots of staff undertaking cleaning of the facility, plenty of lockers and changing and a pool that accommodates all abilities due to a floating floor. Great to see so many people using the wide lanes in one half and the other being used by local school children. Fantastic 50m pool replacing the old, run down pool in the City Centre.

Negative experience: I brought my grandson to Alan Higgs to play for the Carl Baker football academy. I was in my van and unable to park because of height barriers. I asked a car park attendant if the barriers could be lifted and was advised to park hall and half on grass and double yellow lines. No guarantee that I wouldn’t get a parking ticket. I asked in reception if I would get a ticket and the receptionist kindly moved her car so I could park in the drop off zone. Why are the height barriers down at peak times making it impossible to park in the car parks in a van?

Positive experience: Nice gym, very spaced out so you never feel like you are in someone's way; equipment is all in working order and clean; the staff members clean regularly throughout the day and most of the members are considerate enough to wipe down the equipment after they've used it. I do find it quite bad that there is no water fountain in the gym, not sure if there is one available anywhere within the centre but there definitely isn't one within the gym; I've never known a gym to not have one.

Fantastic experience: This a great facility for the wider West Midlands and not just Coventry. Really enjoyed helping Coventry SC today in their 50m Sprints.

Positive experience: cool and calm facility good for extra curricula activities both for adults and children.

Negative experience: Why don't they answer the phone. I stood outside and called. They were just all talking amongst each other, laughing and joking. Answer the damn phones. They were NOT busy.

Fantastic experience: I was competing in the British transplant games. It's a good swimming pool with good facilities,and I had a look at their gym. Very impressed with that. If I lived in the surrounding area I would definitely be training/swimming here.

Positive experience: Great venue and pitches. Can do better in managing the switch over between teams playing.

Negative experience: I would like to escalate the matter of misconduct and a humiliating incident that happened to me yesterday in the "Body Pump" session. I signed up for a Body Pump session on Friday at 7-7:45pm. I started the session exactly at 7pm. After 5 minutes of warm up, I received an emergency call for which I stepped out of the class and then I rejoined the session at 7:19pm. After joining the session, guy said something which I couldn’t hear clearly and also might have said that I can't continue further, which I couldn't hear due to loud music. Hence I continued under the impression that I can still continue. But after a few minutes he shouted loudly "I told you to get out of my class, you are disturbing the whole class" and "try better luck next time". This happened in front of a full class, which was very humiliating to me. I said, " I am not going to attend your classes in the future and I am going to raise a complaint" and his response was "Thanks for that". After this incident I left the class immediately. The way it was said to me, this was not acceptable. I didn't like the way I was told to get out of the class so rudely in front of the class. I was in the last row and I was not disturbing the class. Since Friday this has caused me so much distress and disturbance that I couldn't stop myself being emotional for the rest of the night. I believe Alan Higgs has set up high quality standards in Coventry in terms of facilities that you offer. As a customer I come to your center to relieve the stress and for my mental and physical well being. The rude and humiliating behaviours such as this from your staff towards customers, is that acceptable to you? What precedence does this set for the center which is meant for customers' mental well being? This is putting me off to come to the center. Me & my family pay in full for the membership, and I believe we have every right to be treated with the respect, dignity and professionally by the staff of the center. I can't tolerate and I will not tolerate rudeness and humiliation.

Fantastic experience: One stop center for all activities !!! Massive space which has swimming, indoor football, badminton and gym. Badminton is available on pay as you go on a hourly basis.

Positive experience: Place is good to play badminton but always difficult to find the slot. There is no option for online booking and bulk booking.

Negative experience: So today we went for a swim me and my boyfriend as it helps with my disability and I wasn’t feeling great as was and the fact I have bad anxiety Having one your member of staff lifeguards storm over to you and aggressively tell you to not help yourself to the float’s which it wasn’t a problem with what he said it was how he dealt with whole thing we only helped ourselves as there was a really kind member of staff that offered me a floaty the first time we come as she could see I wasn’t capable of swimming it’s one thing being 29 years of age with a disability I struggle on a day to day basis with as it’s hard for me to accept I can’t do the things I use to be able to do like dressing myself, swimming by myself, walking, normal day to day chores it’s even worse when I have staff telling me I got to ask everyday I come in to use a floaty it’s absolutely disgusting and degrading is what it is it won’t stop us from coming as you do have lot of nice staff we shrugged it off as it looked like it was his first day on the job and we just go by our own in future but I’m so angry with what happened I would have made an official complaint about him before leaving but unfortunately for me that’s when my anxiety side holds me back but if happens again I will be making an official complaint so just remind all staff how they approach people and talk to people

Fantastic experience: Good venue for swimming, great facilities and friendly staff with plenty of seating at ground level as well as upper balcony.

Positive experience: Great facilties, let down by cleanliness of the changing area by the pool and the shower cubicles and the spa always having problems. The jacuzzi only has bubbles in two areas, why can't all the jets work and the prices of food and drinks in the cafe are absolutely shocking. Egg mayo wrap and a bottle of coke nearly £6.

Negative experience: This place need good cleaning everyday, you pay full payment but half of time something is not working. Ask staff member any questions, you get incorrect information,

Positive experience: Spin bike computers are gradually falling into disrepair without being repaired or customers being alerted.

Positive experience: Easy to find off the main road. Plenty of parking. Food and Drinks available at the Café inside the main building (take a left when walking in to reception). Toilets are also located in there. But be prepared..the toilets are GUSTIN. So if you need to go..brace yourself..they don't look to be cleaned regularly at all..!! Soap dispenser was broken when i went as well... We there to watch the lil man play football..so unable to comment on other facilities. Grass pitches are decent .

Negative experience: Staff were really unfriendly to me. She was at receptionist that was saying nasty things to me.

On Saturday, one of our players sustained an injury during our soccer match and was unable to move on the field. We immediately notified you of the situation, and you rushed to the scene to assess the situation. You patiently waited with the injured player, greeting him and making sure he was comfortable while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Your kind and caring attitude towards the player's well-being was a true testament to your character. Additionally, we were impressed by your follow-up actions. The next day, you even took the initiative to call and check up on the injured player to ensure he was doing okay.
