Aberdeen Aquatics Centre is a fantastic facility catering to both swimming and fitness enthusiasts. With its well-maintained pools, including a spectacular 50m swimming pool, and friendly staff, it provides an enjoyable experience for individuals of all ages and abilities. Users have particularly praised the cleanliness and modern amenities, making it a great place for leisure, training, or fitness classes.
Some positive highlights include:
- Wide range of facilities: Including a diving pool, sauna, steam room, and gym.
- Helpful staff: Many users have noted the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff.
- Great swimming environment: The atmosphere is welcoming, and the pools are generally clean.
- Accessibility: Support for individuals with disabilities has been appreciated, including accessible changing rooms.
However, there are areas for improvement:
- Maintenance issues: Some users reported problems with equipment, pools being too cold, and unpleasant odors in changing rooms.
- Booking challenges: Reservations for classes can fill up quickly, causing frustration for eager participants.
- High membership costs: Some comments indicate that prices may be prohibitive for casual users.
- Occasional scheduling issues: The pool has been noted to close often for events, limiting public access.
Overall, Aberdeen Aquatics Centre remains a highly recommended venue with state-of-the-art facilities, serving as a valuable resource for the Aberdeen community, despite some room for enhancement in service and accessibility.
Aberdeen Aquatics Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: Bellissima piscina, molto attrezzata. Docce e spogliatoi un po' meno perché non troppo pulitii e comodi
Fantastic experience: Very good for meeting. Bit of faff with TV link for our presentation but they got it going eventually A kettle or urn for hot water so we could make cup of tea/coffee would be handy for a meeting room Other than that fine Young lady in reception desk VERY helpful really nice
Fantastic experience: Great facility
Negative experience: On Sunday 7th September 2025, my daughter almost drowned during a swimming class at Aberdeen Aquatics Centre. She was under the water for over 45 seconds while both the instructor and the lifeguard failed to notice. Despite parents (including myself) shouting for help, there was no response until another instructor from a different class stepped in to save her. We immediately lodged an official complaint with management, but weeks later there has been no investigation, no follow-up, and no accountability. The lack of safeguarding, training, and basic duty of care is shocking. Parents entrust this facility with their children’s safety. Based on our experience, that trust was completely broken. Until the centre takes responsibility and demonstrates proper safety standards, I cannot recommend this facility to anyone.
Fantastic experience: nice piecefull
Fantastic experience: Well run, clean facility with friendly staff
Fantastic experience: I love the 50 m pool. The cleanliness is high and the staff are helpful and friendly. It's a safe environment, Showers have been restored and there are different types of saunas where yiu can relax after a swim. Love it!
Fantastic experience: Super friendly, great pool. I am an amputee & was so nervous but they made me feel at ease
Fantastic experience: Diving pool is great
Negative experience: Popped in here 2 weeks ago as I'm a full time wheelchair user and my app told me this was the closest changing places toilet near me as I was visiting Aberdeen from Falkirk for the day. I cant use a normal disabled toilet. I walked in and asked where the toilet was and the security officer said they didn't have one and told us try the sports village at the other end. I then went to someone standing next to the bollards and asked him he said there's an event on we cant let you in. I explained I have stoma and crohns and colitis and need urgent access as well as I also need a wee but can't do it in a normal disabled toilet and my app said there is one here. He didn't know if there was and said because there is an event on no ones allowed in and that i should use the disabled toilet which doesnt have a hoist which i wouldnt be able to transfer safely. They turned me away I went to my car and double checked my app and came back in and showed them the picture of the changing places toilets and that it claimed it was here. It was then they admitted it was there and that it was in the changing room area. I said I don't want to swim I need the toilet and you can't deny me my right to use public toilet especially when I have a stoma due to crohns and colitis and especially when I cant transfer normally to a normal disabled toilet. I asked to speak to manager whom came out and straight away said I could use it without any issues like those security officers gave me. He told me though the hoist doesn't work so my wife had to let me use my bedpan we luckily brought with us which was humiliating and I had to lay on the plastic bed in order to wee. It was humiliating and it was disgraceful. Your staff should be taught that no matter what special event is happening if I need to use the nearest changing places disabled toilet which has a hoist in it and especially people whom can't use a normal disabled toilet and has a serious condition like crohns and colitis and has stoma due to this condition needs urgent use of toilet which suits their needs. Failure to allow me access which was the case at 1st is illegal and discriminating. It goes against the disability equality act. Shame on you I will never be back. Have a word with your staff and highlight the importance and discrimination and I hope in future they won't stop other people like me their right to use a toilet suitable for their needs. Disgusting and shocking behaviour.
Fantastic experience: Love it

Fantastic experience: State of the art facilities
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Aberdeens lucky to have it
Positive experience: Amazing and clean swimming pool, and good staff. Pool timings can be terrible, random closures every month, and very limited public swimming. The steam room stinks of mold. Sauna is nice, locker system is good. Not enough private showers, they can at least add shower curtains. Membership is expensive for people who only want to use aquatics facilities.
Negative experience: Crazy expensive. Staff are disinterested, often bordering on being rude, sometimes actually being downright rude. Update The place is starting to fall apart. Comedy large TV screen in the foyer is always on but never displaying anything, burning through energy, yet they are complaining about funding being reduced. Been that way for months. The swimsuit dryer is literally broken more often than its working, so often now that they've stopped bothering putting a sign up when it's broken. Invariably, the pool is shut for events at weekends. I pay a full membership (as that is the only option these days) just to use the pool, and regularly I can't. The changing rooms often have a strong sewage smell in them and several of the lockers don't work anymore. This 'wonderful' facility has been so badly managed. It'll end up going the same way at the beach pool without an increased cash injection each year. It has already had literally millions of pounds off the council (same from the lottery and Aberdeen uni) and yet it's not found a way to stand on its own two feet yet after several years operating. It's a disgrace that public money is being squandered on the management team and their oversight.
Fantastic experience: Centro aquático de primeira, para iniciantes e atletas
Fantastic experience: 9 pounds for a day pass, full access to swimming pool, sauna, gym etc. Lovely staff
Negative experience: Offer free event, to get there and be told u need a booking. They did not advertise you need a booking. Kids very disappointed drove all the way in from Stonehaven. This is the 2nd time I've had a problem with this place. Very very disappointed
Fantastic experience: I did use it today for cold bath. Everyone was very friendly and professional. I will definitely come back and I can highly recommend it.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility
Fantastic experience: Fantastic resource. Proud that this is in Aberdeen. Staff were really helpful. Facilities were in great condition.
Positive experience: I go to the Aberdeen Physically Disabled Swimming Club here every Tuesday and its great (the others there like to complain about the pool being too cold but it doesn't bother me). The staff are nice and helpful and there is access if you are disabled ie; parking, changing rooms and a chair for getting in and out of the pool (although you may need to ask them to set it up as there are times when we go that we have to wait as it is not out at the time). Only issue I have is when we do go some people leave their things in a changing room or a locker without locking it which can be a bit frustrating (especially if you are blind like a couple we have at the Club).
Positive experience: Great facility
Fantastic experience: Good pool. Nice steam room.
Fantastic experience: A very serene environment and a quite atmosphere
Negative experience: Second time I’ve turned up and it has stated open session but it’s shut off for professionals practicing. I am a paying customer too and have wasted petrol coming in to be turned away
Fantastic experience: The 50mtre pool is bestbut its very cold, temp of water has been turned down to much Winter has arrived,so its time to give customers a little bit of heat in the pool.AR.
Negative experience: Pools pretty chilly....
Fantastic experience: Okay
Fantastic experience: Very well maintained and worthwhile
Fantastic experience: Amazing venu and facilities
Fantastic experience: Dedicated swimming course for beginners and advanced learners
Fantastic experience: Excellent facility
Fantastic experience: Great swimming lesson, as always Teacher was brilliant with my daughter as she was anxious during the lesson
Positive experience: It's really good as it's really spacious And you can learn so many things being there
Negative experience: Expensive and cold adults couldn't stay in for more than 20 mins however the kids enjoyed it and had fun.
Fantastic experience: A brilliant facility that Aberdeen is very lucky to have. The diving coaches are amazing.
Fantastic experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Great resources
Fantastic experience: Amazing sports village, love it a lot
Negative experience: Don't sell family tickets if you're not prepared for it! Swimming pool for two years old! It’s a joke, there is no shallow water, water is always cold, the small swimming pool is never open to public, what a waste of space. Please divide the swimming pool , otherwise Don't promote your family tickets
Negative experience: We were visiting family in Aberdeen and decided to take our 5yr old daughter to a family swim session on a Tuesday evening. It was approx £21 for 2 adults and child. When we entered the pool (which was 3 lanes in size) we were surprised at just how cold the water was. After 20 mins our daughter was too cold to last any longer and needed a warm shower. We voiced concerns to the life guarding staff who said "I know the water is very cold, it's only 28c, I wouldn't bring my kids if I'm honest". It's not worth advertising a "family session" if it comes with a free dose of hypothermia. My daughter is an avid swimmer and was really disappointed. Just a really poor experience. Made worse by staff awareness of the issue.
Fantastic experience: Had so much fun joining Aberdeen for a polo friendly
Fantastic experience: Good price, nice staff. Like the sauna
Fantastic experience: Very cool;-)
Fantastic experience: Amazing facilities staff both friendly, helpful and chilled out. Some small things require maintenance. Without a doubt the best pool i've swum in. Steam room and sauna modern and comfortable. The atmosphere was the best ive seen.
Positive experience: Often closed for competitions and although you are getting plenty of notice it seems like in first 6 months of this year I lost 4 weekends due to this.
Negative experience: Not happy with their Timetable, now with events...the pool is closed for public for 2 days and half and when its opened for public, the club comes and us the public we have only 3 lanes one for slower one for medium and one for faster. And sometimes for slow and medium one are 8-9 people swimming for each lane, its to crowd,we need more space. They put the public on last place, its not fair at all and its £40/month.
Fantastic experience: Прекрасное место для тонуса и отдыха))))
Positive experience: The staff here are nice, I have cptsd so for me to join was a HUGE step forward with my mental health. The member of staff who showed me around was very helpful, he made me feel at ease and gave me lots of information, which in turn made me join. I think his name is Redha? Also the lady who does the Aqua aerobics is brilliant! Always smiling! The only negative for me hence the 3 stars is the booking system for the classes, you have to book 1 week in advance at 6.30am and as this class books up very quickly I've seen me not get a space at 6.32am.
Fantastic experience: Top facility, when spectating you no longer need to have registered to enter.
Fantastic experience: Clean throughout. Polite staff. Suitable for all ages abilities.
Fantastic experience: 50 m pool at the perfect temperature to train. Clean and not crowded.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility I feel lucky that my son has access to for his diving!
Fantastic experience: Great first time competing in Scotland
Fantastic experience: Excellent venue for swimming competitions, ample car parking, room for spectators, accommodation nearby.
Fantastic experience: Great place to exercise. Pricey but understand the cost of services. Sauna always good here, steam room very weak but still rating 5 stars, accidents happen.
Fantastic experience: Great pool and venue
Positive experience: Fabulous facility for the more mature users
Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful staff, good café with a variety of healthy foods
Fantastic experience: Impressive facility.
Fantastic experience: It's great place to be.. 2 indoor swimming pools, ample space, got a complimentary sauna and steam room. You have to visit it!!
Negative experience: my husband took my grandson swimming, water was freezing, to deep for grandson. was going to join its closed for 2 months for competitions, staff were quite helpful
Fantastic experience: Top notch... Great view and well equipped. Friendly and lovely staff as well. You will have fun that is guaranteed
Fantastic experience: Excellent for kids .... All arenas are indoor and very safe.. prices are just the best for the services... All popular sports a available!!?
Positive experience: Lovely pool
Fantastic experience: Fantastic venue. Cafe with coffee and snacks. Plenty of spectacular seating. It's pretty stuffy in the spectator area for the main pool but all pool venues are! The diving pool is less so.
Positive experience: Staff helped us out of a jam. Excellent service
Fantastic experience: Very good venue to compete in a perfect conditions. Indoor 50 meters compettion pool with 10 lanes and indoor 25 meters with 6 lanes (diving pool) warm up pool. Gym, spa and cafe.
Fantastic experience: Great pool, best in Aberdeen
Fantastic experience: Beatifull modern sports complex for football, basketball, squash, fitness, etc .. I use a swimming pool and sauna. The dry sauna is ok but the steam sauna is very strong. The downside is sitting in a swimsuit. These are not designed for high temperatures! As a foreigner, I can only buy a daily ticket (using VISA) but I cannot buy a monthly ticket (I do not have a UK bank account). It is a pity. I would welcome the possibility of buying a monthly ticket, for example, at the entrance. Despite the mentioned negatives, I give the full number of stars.
Positive experience: Pool was not exactly toddler non swimmer friendly, 4yr old couldn't touch the bottom of pool so had to constantly tread water, will go back to beach leisure centre until the weemans a more competent swimmer
Fantastic experience: The staff are very nice and friendly! .
Fantastic experience: World class facility.
Fantastic experience: Incredible Facility.
Fantastic experience: Staff were friendly and helpful. It was very easy to pay for a day pass online. The overall price is probably a little steep for just a swim (although the facilities are nice) but if you use the gym or any other space it's worth it for the day. The barriers were glitching out when I arrived but the staff let me through quickly. Changing rooms and pool were clean. Not overly busy when o went but there are plenty of changing rooms - changing area is unisex with individual stalls. Plenty of lockers - need a £1 to use them but you get it back. Pool is on the cool side but, if you channel your inner Dory and keep on swimming, it's not an issue. Car park is free. A nice experience and would go again
Fantastic experience: Love the experience in the pool!!!
Fantastic experience: Olympic swimming pool, separate pool with diving from various heights, sauna, steam room, top notch facilities, great service and banter should you choose to socialise
Fantastic experience: I like it.
Fantastic experience: Good facility, nice staff
Fantastic experience: just joined been twice excellent
Fantastic experience: Szczeże polecam
Positive experience: It's a very nice and friendly place the staff are only to help whenever you need it
Fantastic experience: The staff were really helpful. Enjoyed the swimming session!
Fantastic experience: Супер
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant place staff excellent
Fantastic experience: Staff always friendly and willing to help.
Fantastic experience: Just amazing.
Fantastic experience: One of the top facilities in northeast Scotland to train and enjoy. Pools are simple state of the art. Warm and with adaptable depth is simply amazing this place. On top of that ASV staff is very helpful and polite. Top marks for this place.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool for a little ones
Fantastic experience: Great to be back and all is very well organised!!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing just amazing
Fantastic experience: The princess loves it
Fantastic experience: Super clean and nice seating.
Fantastic experience: Incredible facility. Always very very clean and not over chlorinated.
Positive experience: Great pool
Fantastic experience: Perfect 50m pool! Only thing is that there was more chlorine than I'm used to in Norway, so I got really red skin (looked sunburned). But might be other regulations in Scotland.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities
