Fantastic experience: I was visiting Bristol over a long weekend and decided to book a last minute adults intro session. I've never done any form of climbing before so felt quite nervous but I needn't have worried and had a brilliant time. On arrival the staff got me set up with the shoes that I needed and even a spare padlock for the lockers. Sam, our instructor for the afternoon, was excellent. He was incredibly calm, patient and encouraging; exactly the vibe that was needed. He explained everything really comprehensively and offered enough tips to be helpful but also allowed space for problem solving in our own time, too. It was an ideal introduction to top rope climbing and bouldering and I'm excited to try it some more. Thank you!

Positive experience: New customer to Redpoint, have been a few times now. Pros- -Huge array of roped routes with interesting setting - Friendly staff - Good music - variety of different spaces, so if one area feels too busy you can move somewhere else - cafe looks nice, not yet had time to visit Cons - Large groups that don't appear to be part of Redpoint instruction taking over bouldering areas for their entire session, if 2 groups have taken over areas it doesn't leave much bouldering for everyone else. - auto belays quite close together, would be good if there were more& better spacing - Changing rooms v cramped, but that's not really a big deal. - only found the mezzanine bouldering area on our 3rd visit, maybe some better signage could make it feel less confusing? Edit Nov 25 Upstairs toilets badly need sorting out. Handle on one door has loose screws for weeks, often no soap, handdryers don't work properly. A coat of paint, deep clean & reseal wouldn't take long.. visited flashpoint today which was a complete contrast in comparison!

We're really glad that you appreciate everything we've worked hard to build here at Redpoint. There's not a lot we can do about groups using spaces for their climbing, our evenings can be very busy in winter but there's lots of space and our community is always happy to share.
We'll definitely look into some extra signage for the bouldering areas as they are spread out through the building.

Fantastic experience: Love this place. Plenty of lead routes, bouldering, top rope and a few auto belays. Friendly staff, good food and drinks. Plus if you are a member, they have a number of climbing centres across SW all included in one monthly fee. Recommended

Fantastic experience: I love the place. The perfect mix of rope climbing and bouldering. You can do rope without a partner thanks to the autobelay and GPS scheme. The caffè is also great with a lot of seats.

Fantastic experience: The staff are really friendly, the climbs are really creative, there’s a big range of styles, grades and inclination! Also some nice accessible overhang climbs for those of us who are trying to get comfortable with clipping whilst hanging upside down!! The pizza and a pint is an amazing deal too, I like to joke that Redpoint Pizzeria has a climbing gym in the back

Fantastic experience: My 8 year old daughter attends rock monkeys sessions here every Saturday and before that she attended little monkeys. Myself I took a beginner course and now I am coming every week with my other daughter, so she climb too. All the instructors in the centre are really good and all staff is really friendly. There is really relaxed atmosphere and everyone can feel welcomed. There is really good pizza to get before or after session too! We absolutely love Redpoint and always recommend it to all my friends

Fantastic experience: A really great climbing wall with a variety of features! The Comp wall, the top ropes, the stal, the slab, the bouldering- so many great choices and plenty of lines (100 ish). The best thing is how frequently lines are reset, it keeps things super interesting and theres always something nee to try. Good grade range of 5’s through to 8’s.

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I went on a beginners course at the start of the year. The training was excellent and we now climb at Redpoint at least once a week. The staff and other climbers are always friendly and there is a huge variety of lines available. We are looking forward to getting more experienced so we can go on a lead rope course later in the year.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have climbed before but not for a few years so we booked an adult taster session as a refresher and had a great time. The instructor, Fin, was really clear, made us feel safe and we got to try a good range of rope climbs and bouldering walls. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Fantastic experience: A really impressive indoor climbing centre. I'm always taking my 6 year old son there. He loves the Crazy Climb and he has regular lessons there every weekend. They seem to have almost endless different rooms to climb in and many many different ways to climb. Personally I love the cafe, great food and drinks and it's nice and cosy and comfortable. Great for bouldering and rope climbing.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities with angles and grades for everybody. 100s of routes, bouldering dotted around, a small cave and even the 45er woody for anyone more experienced who plateaued and would like to get stronger. Negative experience: My son is a membership in this club redpoint. He have climbing each Sunday. The problem when I subscribed my son on Sunday, the team members haven’t notified that the week end of school holidays were not included in. So, my son lost 2 sessions each holidays but the price is similar than the other subscribed during the week. So it is not fair for my son, it is not equal. And for the wallet, we are loser. And in addition, we have to add 10 £ for a book for following the child’s progress while the price of membership is already high per month.

Thank you for your feedback, we hope we can provide some answers to your frustrations.
Our weekend Rock Monkey sessions cost a little more than the weekday slots as they are a premium time. You are welcome to move to a weekday time slot if you'd like to.
It is made clear that Rock Monkeys does not run during school holidays, only term time, and term dates can be seen from the Clubs page of our website.
The £10 for the book includes a NICAS binder, book of levels 1-3 and lots of extra inserts and information for parents and children on the scheme. The NICAS books are not a requirement for the Rock Monkey sessions - children are able to learn and progress their skills without the logbook no problem. We do recommend the NICAS books as the NICAS scheme is nationally recognised and a great way to track your child's progress over their climbing lessons - providing both structure and feedback for you, your child and the instructors.
Having said this, we will be reviewing our Clubs systems and pricing structures in the summer.

Negative experience: Contacted to go bouldering discuss everything over the phone. Turned up for a session, filled in the registration but then told as I can't belay I was unable to supervise my daughter boldering. This makes no sense as we were not using the ropes. Wasted journey and have been put off trying any of their centres

As we’re a roped climbing centre we have to be very strict about our supervision policies. This is made clear on our website and in our terms and conditions which you will have seen when registering. I’m sorry that this was not communicated to you over the phone, however.
Our boulder centres (Flashpoint centres) allow non-belay customers to supervise minors. I am sure that a visit to Flashpoint Bristol to boulder with your daughter would change your mind about our facilities. Your check in would also be made much faster as you’re now already registered.

Fantastic experience: Recently attended their adult training session (6/7th of August @ 3:15) and throughly enjoyed it. We’ve walked away feeling confident and competent in our rope climbing abilities. Sam (hope we got that right) was awesome and incorporated a lot of motivational techniques to help overcome physical and mental barriers to climbing. His coaching was totally not expected but highly appreciated and super helpful!! Definitely recommend this course - thanks for a great weekend!

Fantastic experience: Held my daughters 10th birthday here and they had some issues in the kitchen meaning they couldn’t cook the pizza that was included in the package. Fantastic experience: For a group of kids this is one of the best climbing centres I've found. They are completely free to roam and try out the climbs they fancy. In an hour session they can do 30 climbs each. Perfect for a group of 13 Scouts.

Fantastic experience: We took a small group of 8 year old girls to crazy climb. The instructor (Molly) was brilliant and quickly learnt all the girls names. The climbing was challenging, but by the end of the session all the girls had climbed to the top of several walls and were buzzing with the achievement. We’ll definitely be back.

Hope you had a good session. Our pricing favours people who plan to come multiple times. You can buy a 5 pass for £55 on your first visit which works across all our sites and doesn't expire. So that's £11 a go which is very good value.
That £20 price is only on a first visit at peak time so your next visit to any of our sites would be much less. So we hope to see you next time you are in the South West.
Update: We have since removed our first visit cost and now have one flat entry cost across our sites. We listened to the feedback we were given and hope this encourages you to give us another go! Thank you
Fantastic experience: I take my daughter here to climb regularly, as a member she gets to come for free as my guest, all the staff have always been really friendly and helpful, with a keen eye on safety. There are a few autobelay routes if you are alone, several bouldering sections including a pretty cool 'cave' section, and lots of variety of lead or top rope climbs to suite any level of climber. Also the artwork is really cool and the cafe is great for a post climb Feed!

Fantastic experience: I really like Redpoint. The Redpoint team are super helpful and friendly. The cafe is great and (for novices like my son and I) there appears to be a really good range of climbing and bouldering. We really like that there are loads of different bouldering rooms scattered around the site, so it's usually possible to find a quiet one. I can definitely see us spending a lot more time here :) One thing that could really improve the Redpoint experience, is the online booking system, which could really do with a complete overhaul. Being able to book multiple climbing sessions in a single checkout would be a great start.

So glad you and your son are enjoying getting into climbing with us. Redpoint is such a welcoming community and we are glad to have you on board! The POS and booking system we use is called Rock Gym Pro and is the most popular system for climbing walls across the world. It's good in some ways and very annoying in others. For instance as you have seen there is no "add to bag" option online. There is currently nothing we can do about this without switching to a whole new system across all our sites. We hassle RGP regularly about this and other issues and they say they are working on a new update that may (or may not) come soon and fix these issues.... fingers crossed.

Fantastic experience: I had Matt Harris (an instructor at Redpoint) for a 2-day 'How to lead climb' course here. He was an absolutely brilliant instructor, covering everything at a suitable pace and with some great exercises to break down all the steps necessary to safely lead climb. His tips about how to clip and avoid back-clipping were particularly great and I really enjoyed the exercise where he effectively top roped my partner for added safety whilst I practiced the lead belay. He introduced leading gradually so that we both built up a load of confidence, even managing some fall practice on the final day. My partner and I now consistently lead, projecting now at a similar level to on top-rope. I'd absolutely recommend him to anyone as either an instructor or performance coach, he's supremely knowledgeable and a top guy to climb with. Redpoint itself is a brilliant facility for training with some really nice walls and top route-setting - the 'fake rock' has a lovely crack. There is also a great cafe here and a really active social scene.

Fantastic experience: Good range of climbing, friendly staff, cafe does excellent food and beer. It can get a little busy, especially in the main area and there are few patrons who act like they own the place but all in all we really enjoy climbing here!

Sorry you felt uncomfortable. There are no longer any restrictions on social distancing in the UK, and no longer any support from the government. So we are left to do what we can to keep our staff and customers safe while also running a business that can sustain itself and it's employees. So we do a lot more cleaning than we ever did before with regular "covid cleaning" shifts through the day that follow groups around after they have left an area in order to clean the touch points. I apologize that all the hand sanitizer was used up in your area, we have litres and litres of the stuff all over the centre and I'm sure if you asked we would have found you a full bottle close by.
If you are not comfortable with busy sessions we would recommend coming at less busy times. Weekends can be busy but the last sessions of the day are generally much quieter. We hope one day you will give us another try : )

Negative experience: Pretty overpriced and minimal bouldering. I had been here before a couple years ago when I was first ever introduced. Was in the area to see friends so though I’d come again, cost me around £20 with shoes but there’s barely any bouldering walls, 80% is rope climbing, 2 walls are fairly difficult, one area was full of children for a class and the other two didn’t have many option for those who usually do V0’s - V2’s. This is the most expensive place I’ve ever been to with the least amount of options. Just feels like a massive rip off and your paying for the rope climbers
Hello and very sorry you did not feel you had value for money on this visit.
We have 5 bouldering areas at Redpoint in total with around 80 boulders set at any one time. But I take your point that if you are climbing in the V1-2 range maybe there is not a huge amount to go at compared to a dedicated bouldering wall. We often find that people who make this complaint did not find all 5 walls as they are spread out around the centre.
Our pricing is designed to give a discount to regular climbers. For instance those using punch cards pay significantly less per session, and it is true that hiring shoes on top of your entry does push the price up. But I can see that £20 can feel like a lot if you cannot make use of the ropes as well.
I'm going to go out on a limb and make a suggestion to you that you book a taster session with us. Now I know you are angry with us but hear me out : )
A Taster is £15 and you will get an hour with an instructor doing mostly rope climbing with all equipment included PLUS you can stay after and boulder at no extra cost AND we set you up with FREE KIT HIRE for a month afterwards. This free kit hire extends over to Flashpoint Bristol which is a dedicated bouldering wall also in Bristol.
I will bring the price for those just bouldering up at our next managers meeting. We want everyone to feel that they got value for their hard earned cash and for them to be keen to become part of our community. We are definitely not aiming to rip anyone off, and I'm sorry you feel that way.

Fantastic experience: I have always found Redpoint staff to be kind and welcoming and we did the Introductory course with Jodie (Josie?! - Really sorry! I might have gotten this wrong, but you were awesome). The instruction was clear, uncomplicated and our instructor was very patient with us. There's nothing worse than feeling stupid as you learn something, and with the people and the instruction at Redpoint, there's none of that. I changed the time of our session and they were really cool about it, and there was no fuss or stress at any point. Climbing might seem intimidating to get into from the outside but if you're thinking about it, please do give it a go - it's for you as much as it is for the people who know when to point their toes, climb in jeans like badasses or make theatrical noises on the wall. ;) ^_^ Redpoint is a really good place to start. See you there!

Fantastic experience: Really friendly staff, went during lockdown and they were managing numbers really well and plenty of sanitisation stations. Decent bouldering areas, but much more angled towards regular climbing. Still plenty to keep me busy though.

Positive experience: Great climbing gym to visit with a climbing partner, the facility is a good height, maze like with a vast myriad of routes and different styles available all of which have been graded clearly at the bottom, ropes aren't needed for every route, so if you don't have any and are happy just to top rope (and have a partner) or boulder then Redpoint has that covered, the cafe prices are predictably a bit on the unrealistically expensive side and that is the only reason they get 4 not 5 stars, you can always bring your own stuff anyway. The staff were friendly, intuitive folks, and helpfully very knowledgeable, they were a complement to the venue. Whilst it was fairly quiet when we went, all other climbers were friendly and polite and we had a great time, Worth getting the punch card for 5 sessions, and worth the membership if you're local and have the time to visit more than 5 times a month :) enough to easily keep most climbers happy for a year with free access to team GB.
Thank you very much for your review! We put a lot of effort into making this place a great place to climb, make friends and hang out. The cafe is a huge part of that with beer and restaurant food in the evenings for that post-climb social. It is surprisingly difficult to make a cafe profitable (we still only just scrape by) and the prices reflect that we want to produce a really good, varied and ethically sourced menu but we have a small space and don't get the footfall we would on the high street. There are some deals on some nights, such as the beer and a burger, which make for a very cheap night out compared to going into town.
So glad you like the centre as a whole. We look forward to seeing you again soon : )
