Positive experience: Fantastic gym if you own an iPod as the cardio machines have iPod docs! In reality the staff are great, it has a nice pool and the gym equipment there's enough, they just need to replace all the treadmills and cardio equipment, it's very old for the fee that's being charged now. Overall a great experience, as I say just the equipment doesn't match the price bracket anymore.

Positive experience: Good gym overall but it’s not cheap and the value for money has got considerably worse over the last couple of years as facilities have been gradually removed. Everything feels a bit dated, and the unnecessarily large cafe area seems like wasted space. Best part is the class instructors – especially Kay, Jane, Dara and Carolyn. If it wasn’t for them we probably wouldn’t still be members.

Positive experience: Since I was last a member of Nuffield Tunbridge Wells in 2020 there has been zero renovations or upgrades to the equipment which I found disappointing. For the membership price I think the machines should all be replaced given half of them are out of service or the screens don’t work properly. The best part of the club is the classes and I cannot fault the instructors - it is the main reason I am a member!

Fantastic experience: I'm no body builder, but Nuffield has everything I need for my short gym sessions, with plenty of options for whatever exercise I fancy that day. Everything is kept very clean, with polite and helpful staff. And I love a sauna!

Fantastic experience: Nuffield Gym has enhanced my life enormously. I particularly enjoy Zoe Davies' dance classes and Verity Lea's Yogalates classes. Fantastic experience: Very good gym- Jane Dew Spin classes are exceptional with very good directions- especially if you like to be shouted at! Bit like being at home….sessions get booked very quickly so need to get used to setting alarm to make a booking. In truth all front of house and cleaning staff are really friendly too- very pleasant and not pretentious

Fantastic experience: I attend various exercise classes each week, at The Nuffield Health Fitness Centre in Tunbridge Wells, which I thoroughly enjoy and I feel that they have definitely improved my health; both physically and mentally. The staff and instructors are dynamic, motivational, professional, friendly and supportive. In my experience, the classes are inclusive to all, whatever your ability. The teachers demonstrate the importance of maintaining a safe environment, allow time to answer questions and encourage you to challenge yourself, to obtain the most out of each fitness session. I would highly recommend this gym for the excellent standard of teaching that is provided.

Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool and facilities. Consistently take my toddler here for a casual family swim. The cafe staff are always friendly and make an amazing coffee too! Highly recommend.
Positive experience: Been a member for a number of years now using the pool, gym and cafe. There is always space for me to swim at the pool in the morning or afternoon even if you are sharing lanes, and the other members are happy you do so. Pool is a good temperature, if anything, slightly too warm at times. Changing rooms have just been updated with new benches. Showers are always hot. Gym is not as up to date as Medway but can always get a on the treadmill, cross trainer or rower. Glad they changed their coffee and tea supplier which are much better than Costa. Just needs a update as some areas showing their age.
Fantastic experience: I love coming to this gym because the staff are always kind, friendly, and accommodating. The facilities are excellent, with a wide range of equipment, a well-sized swimming pool, and the added bonus of a sauna and steam room. I also enjoy working in the café—it’s peaceful, and the coffee is fantastic. I’d highly recommend this gym to anyone in the area!

Negative experience: I have been training at this gym for quite some time I keep returning as the members are lovely and staff friendly. It's an absolute shame that the equipment is so outdated compared to the other Nuffields I’ve gone to they have much better equipment. It wouldn’t take much to make this Gym More desirable by spending a little money for the price of the membership per person and overheads surely the equipment can be updated to be as good as there other Nuffield gyms when you are a big company You would expect the same equipment and standards throughout, but unfortunately the Tunbridge Wells Gym this is not the case I do hope that Nuffield do start updating the gym Equipment as I Dont want to leave and talking with other gym members they are also thinking the same. It could be the best gym in tunbridge wells

Positive experience: Strange policy for an otherwise decent enough gym. I am on a monthly rolling contract and needed to freeze it for 2 months to recover from surgery. They said I had to disclose personal medical information to the reception who would "review" and decide if I'm telling the truth. I just cancelled instead. Crazy!

Fantastic experience: Some of the best gym class instructors in Tunbridge Wells, spinning, body attack, yoga etc. Senior management have made big changes and improvements to the club, new sauna, redecorated, cafe. There is a big ongoing programme to upgrade the club. Senior staff are regularly in attendance to oversee these changes. Judge for yourself, they often have free days so people can try before they buy, a membership. I have been a member for many years, still great value if you attend regularly and take advantage of the classes, swimming pool, steam rooms & expertise that is available 14 hours per day.

Negative experience: Worst gym I’ve been too. It’s shameful that the cost of the membership is so high. Couldn’t justify £20/month let alone £80+. Only went for the pool and the hot tubs and now the hot tubs have been removed.

Positive experience: Currently a member. Love the pool and steam room looks like it’s recently been refurbed. Showers aren’t powerful but lovely and hot. The let down for me is the weights area the machines aren’t great compared to other gyms and it’s quite a small area so when it’s busy your sometimes waiting along time for common machines eg leg press, smith machine etc it could do with having a upgrade of equipment reducing cardio machines and extending weight area if they could bring it up to date compared to mate pool it would be worth the money as it’s expensive.

Positive experience: Feel like i need to write an honest review here as there are a lot of 1 star reviews. I was put off these before i joined but decided to go for it anyway. The truth is that the gym space is good and open. Yes the machines are old but in the main they work. If they dont then there is a board that shows you the status of all the repairs and timelines (Helpful!). The pool area has recently finished a refurb and is now lovely. The weights area of the gym is very good and has lots of equipment. Changing rooms need some love, but they arent as bad as people are making out. The staff i have had no issues with and always been spoken to politely and they have been helpful! This is not a top of the range Spa/gym facility, but nor does it say it is... Review from a happy customer.

Negative experience: Not much I can add that hasn’t been aptly mentioned in the other recent 1* reviews. As a student in London the options are really good, however i became a member of Nuffield during the holidays to access gym and pool. Unfortunately, what you can get in london for £30 is substantially better than what Nuffield offer at an inappropriately high price. A real shame as the location and building is a real opportunity to develop a successful and good quality health club. But this is an opportunity that’s going to require substantial investment. And the current price of £79/month is simply not justifiable with the old facilities and spa/hot tubs not in use. Total ripoff. Gym equipment is usually functional but really starting to show its age and decades behind what you would expect to see at PureGym for a fraction of the price. I cancelled my membership before going to back to Uni, and won’t be rejoining anytime soon. My only regret is not doing that a month earlier. Hopefully the venue will be taken over by another company and done up. Would be great to have an affordable and good quality option available locally.

Negative experience: I have been a member for a year now, purely for the use of the pool. Back in January of 2023 mostly everything ran reasonably well, but every month since, something has gone wrong. Whether it be the lack of hot water for at least a week, the closing of the steam room for over a month, the closing of the pool for a month, the hair dryers in the changing rooms out of order for weeks or the hand dryers out of order for months, nothing seems to be fixed quickly. The spa pools/jacuzzis have never been opened since I joined and are apparently set to be filled in and tiled over - a shame they couldn’t get them in use. The Men’s showers are absolutely disgusting in that there is widespread mould around the drains and on the adjacent tiles. There are often members of the cleaning staff around the changing rooms and they do keep the majority of the changing areas clean, however, it is extremely lacking in the showers… To further add to the incompetency of the management, it is clear that first aid is not common amongst the staff, nor health and safety. I bought a friend of mine a day pass and he cut his foot badly on a sharp edge of tile on the steps out of the pool where multiple tiles were missing so creating multiple sharp edges. He was offered some paper towels and a plaster and expected to just sort it himself. This isn’t first aid. I had to step in and request antiseptic wipes and did the rest myself while they just stood by aimlessly. The price per month for a year contract is £79. This isn’t worth the price. A dilapidated gym teeming with health and safety hazards should be avoided at all costs. I hope there is an inspection soon and they are either closed down or have a serious overhaul of their current dwindling standards…

Negative experience: Was a member for 4 years. Had to end membership two weeks ago. Staff are very rude, heard managers and receptionist use derogatory words! outdated equipment. There’s more mould in the building then members. Ive had my stuff stolen and all the manager had to say was we can’t do anything about it! My wallet, phone was stolen! There’s mould in the nursery which is a serious health hazard. They don’t do regular dbs checks as one of the staff members told me they was working around kids and did not have a valid DBS check

Negative experience: As a member of another Nuffield gym Sutton) I took out a second membership for Tunbridge Wells so I had the option of using if I needed. Having not used TW Facility I cancelled my membership at what I believe was after a full year. Cancelling is far more difficult in joining and does involve going into the gym and completing a form. I cancelled my DD and about 1 month later I received a demand for £35. I called several times and each time after choosing the correct option the phone rang until answer phone kicks in. I left a message each time and no call back so we could discuss whether the monies are owed or not. My wife same issues as myself phoned independently still no response back. We have now both received letters from debt collection company. I cannot say if this is normal for other Nuffield health centres but cancellations here need management investigation. I would give 0 stars if possible.

Negative experience: Took my kids to the swim classes here. Nuffield changed their policy after I’d just purchased a new block of twelve lessons. I asked for a refund because of the change and was only refund for one of the lessons per child. I have lost hundreds of pounds! I’ve made a complaint and haven’t heard anything. Awful. The kids are now at another swim school and have made so much progress in such a short space of time compared to the year we were going to Nuffield.

Negative experience: Poor Management, Moody staff. Do not honour vouchers given out to members. Ignore emails. Closed spas, rarely working facilities, old equipment. Poor customer services. Overpriced and undermaintained. Hopefully a takeover is in the pipeline and a manager who has respect for members that have contributed to the costs of the buisness for many years. Out with the old and in with the new time .

Negative experience: Left a little while back due to noisy swimming lessons making it tricky to swim with up to 6 members in a lane. The place was also really dirty and had lots of broken equipment :(

Negative experience: I've been a member at this gym before. Thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt a second time but I've got to say it's dreadful not very clean, equipment definitely needs replacing and two many family sessions in the pool. It's really not worth the monthly subscription. I wouldn't recommend to anyone joining this gym it need pulling down.
Negative experience: Showers are dated and rusty and not all the equipment works 100%/is very worn, also i would prefer a place to change privately instead of being in front of people, however really friendly staff and over all does what you need it to.

Negative experience: What’s to say, other than a very very very tired gym. So tired in fact, it still has the ‘esporta’ lockers from 2011!!!! Gym equipment is just as old with 1/3 of the floor being out of use…. Generally an unclean, sad effort of a health club that does not motivate or provide a sense on health and well-being. Swimming pool is another story, with broken tiles and sauna/steam and jacuzzi also generally broken. Despite sending numerous notes to customer services and centre manager, I’m yet to receive any replies. Head in the sand it seems. Why does Tunbridge Wells not have a health club that we can enjoy with our children??? Any recommendations please and we a desperate to find an alternative.
Negative experience: Very run down and needs an update. “Machines are 20+ years old and aren’t as effective as they should be” (mentioned by a gym staff member). Spa pools have been closed for 6 months, multiple facilities always out of order, tiles in the pool have come off all over and cleanliness in showers and changing rooms is very poor. Overall still charging the same price as though it was new and updated…

Fantastic experience: Personally my experience here was great. We went to the pool and the changing rooms were amazing. Spotless but the hair dyers weren't working. The pool itself was a great place to relax. Showers were lovely as they even provided body wash. Prices for goggles and other items were fair. Overall I would come here again to go to the pool.

Negative experience: PARKING ALERT. Dear Gary (General Manager), Please relocate the parking tablet in Reception to a more noticable spot, and please don't fob me off with "the parking tablet is hard wired to that location in Reception". What does that even mean?! My 5 year old could shift it for you if you need a hand! I received 3 park fines within a 7 day period because I decided to work from the cafe and spend my money on Nuffields coffee and sandwiches for which I have now had to pay £180!!!! all because I did not know Nuffied Gym had a parking tablet in Reception!!!
Positive experience: Staff are very friendly and welcoming but the gym equipment is quite outdated need a refurbishment
Negative experience: Keep away from this gym! Its not good at all. The water in their swimming pool is infectious, I became unwell for nearly 2 weeks after my first swimming session at this gym! The equipment in their gym is like toys for kids! Save yourselves money and your health! It was my first and Last day at this gym. Will NOT recommend at all to my loved ones.
Negative experience: Don't let me in because I'm not a member!
Positive experience: It's not bad, tbe equipment are a little dared but does tbe job I guess, the power shower are great though!
Positive experience: This was the last Nuffield gym on my list and I believe I've done them all. This is definitely one of the better ones. Signs of age in changing rooms but clean, good equipment range and layout. Only downside for me was visiting during swimming lessons, the pool was a noisy stressful experience which isn't what I want but can't afford to except myself from such circumstances so there you go.
Negative experience: The pool is nice, warm and clean. The hot tubs again now they have been replaced are nice and warm, but have been out of action for technical reasons quite often. Gym floor however I’ve found has been badly laid out with very dated equipment. And not much of it really. The cleanliness isn’t too bad but now I have other facilities I’ve used to compare they are rather dirty, better at the start of covid but slipped back again. I’ve found another gym which is much better and half the price…as Nuffield gyms go it’s not a good one…
Positive experience: I do enjoy it but I can’t hide the fact that after all these months of not being able to use the steam room it is still out of action for “technical reasons”. I was really looking forward to using steam room and to not have ready for 17th may is poor management. Other than that I honestly love the environment and facilities
Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I’ve been to and I have been to quite a few. Super friendly while completely professional and very high standards. I love the range of classes all the way from spin and HIIT to yoga and prelate. And they’re all very good.
Positive experience: Great service not to busy and has plenty of machines for everyone personal trainers are wonderful and the stretching area is great the swimming pool is great for all ages and the gym has equipment for working any parts of the body whether its calfs biceps triceps or even just stamina it has it all
Positive experience: Great gym, large and loads of equipment. Lots of cardio machines and good stretch/freespace. Pool (20m) is nice with 4 lanes, 2 hot tubs, sauna and steam room - Steam room often not working though or works but low on Steam! Changing rooms are clean with large lockers. Cafe is ok, meals could be more substantial and it could be open later though.

Fantastic experience: As a new member, first impressions very good. Swimming pool and spa facilities are fantastic and all staff encounters so far have been very friendly and helpful. Slight discount through work also handy to make membership more affordable
Negative experience: I made enquiries about being a member for just using the swimming pool dont want yo use gym as have health issues staff didn't want to know curt with me and rude part of Nuffield health bit of a joke I'll use the pool in council public baths instead
Negative experience: Dated gym for the monthly price you pay. Always a handful of machines not working. Pool and changing rooms are dated too. One of the water fountains was broken for over 2 months with the other letting out a small dribble. It's all little things but they add up. Can't comment for the classes. Also really hard to get hold of staff - never called me back!
Positive experience: Staff are very friendly and the gym is always lovely and clean however the equipment has seen better days and needs upgrading. I new state of the art cable machine wouldn't go a miss. The air con is also pretty poor and barely kicks out on a hot day. I wouldn't say this gym is worth the monthly cost.
Fantastic experience: Well equipped, with a large number and variety of machines, many quite new. Staff are very friendly, and generally a large and clean gym. Large pool with Steam room and Sauna. Plenty of parking.
Negative experience: Conveniently located and good parking. Great class schedule. But pool/jacuzzi/showers constantly closed. Equipment very dated, air con insufficient in summer. Definitely not a 'luxury' gym, and not worth the monthly cost.

Positive experience: A very well equipped gym with great swimming facilities. It was very quiet and easy to get on weights for a weekend when I visited on an open day. Reception were very friendly and helpful explaining where everything was in this large gym. If I lived local to the area I would definitely join.
