Discover an all-inclusive gym in Falmouth with St Michaels Health Club. Find out more about our selection of gym memberships today.

With access to our gym, classes, and 17-metre pool, our Health Club focuses on wellbeing, helping you to discover your ideal health and fitness routine.

At St Michaels we understand that visits to beautiful Cornwall may leave you wanting to feel fit and fresh, which is why as well as offering our incredible health club memberships for locals, we also offer health club passes for guests and visitors.

After 10 years of being a member and having been going to other gyms since I was 16 I can honestly say St Michaels for me just feels the perfect balance.

The instructors are not only very experienced and approachable in what they teach they are also, very importantly, just so human. They make everyone feel so welcome and included .. that vibe is so important. Every member matters.

Being a ‘member’ of St Michaels Health Club is more than the word suggests. You will find a community of like-minded people who just want to try their best to be consistent in their endeavours to keep as fit and healthy as they can. Fellow triers and the incredible team behind us at the club keep me motivated endlessly. The gym equipment and layout allows you to go your own way however I will say guidance is on hand easily.

Always you will be inspired and supported from both the team at the club and members alike. It’s friendly, I don’t feel intimidated and I’m getting results!

I’ve been a member of St Michaels for over 2 years and absolutely love it. Mainly doing classes, I invested in a PT session and now have a bespoke gym programme which I really enjoy. The range of classes is phenomenal and I do everything from spin to strength & conditioning to body combat, fascia release, body balance and yoga. The fact that body balance and yoga are held outside during the summer months is an extra bonus; yoga on Gylly beach is just sublime! I really like the fact that I am challenged in the classes and the standard of training is the best that I have encountered.

As a longstanding member of St Michaels, I continue to choose to train and relax here due to the club's friendly and knowledgeable staff, both at the health club reception and those who take fitness classes. The proximity of the facilities to Gyllyngvase beach is a huge plus, as I swim and train in the sea as much as I can. Outdoor classes are a great idea and I find running and exercising near the coast uplifting. For me, the wellness membership offers everything I need to balance treating myself to time in the spa, staying motivated to become stronger and fitter with Lauren's personal training, plus gym sessions and classes and regular use of the sauna and steam rooms to wind down and catch up with friends. The club is an important part of my life.

From access to state-of-the-art gym equipment and classes to a relaxing dip in our pool, our Health Club offers a variety of memberships and passes to choose from. Get started today and plan your health club journey with the help of our expert team.

Health Club and Gym at St Michaels Resort: Opinions

Negative experience: The pool changing rooms are NEVER clean. Hair, fluff, mud, sand cover the floors. The sauna was once again cold today. So frustrating. The saving grace of having a membership is the gym, which meets my needs (although a little busy at times).

Fiona Baker 1 year ago

Negative experience: Pools often cold and the places in run down. Thing’s regularly don’t work. No longer worth the extortionate prices.

Negative experience: Some of the staff members are brilliant but some have severe attitude problems don’t dare forget your wristband or they will threaten you on the spot and send you a snarky email. Very very small gym with only basic equipment it’s not value for money at £82 per month.

Connor Heathcote 1 year ago

Negative experience: Decent place but pricey for what it is. Very long and difficult process of trying to cancel the subscription with a very bad response time (over 10 days) and then they try to charge for the following month when given three weeks notice!

Negative experience: I am writing this review to express concerns regarding the gym's overcrowding, unsanitary conditions in the sauna and steam room, and recent unjustified price increase. Despite being a dedicated member for over a year, these issues have significantly diminished the quality of my gym experience. The gym's overcrowding has made it nearly impossible to access equipment during peak times. This severely affects workout routines and overall satisfaction. Additionally, the sauna and steam room often smell of urine and body odours due to a lack of cleaning supplies for members to maintain hygiene. A strong hose in the steam room for customers to hose down their spot, and a port for the staff’s pressure washer to make easier to clean will go a long way in resolving this. The changing room floors are also frequently covered in hair, mud and sand indicating an overall lapse in cleanliness standards… Moreover, the recent increase in membership fees is difficult to understand given the decline in facility quality. Instead of raising prices, I urge the management to: 1. Implement measures to manage overcrowding. 2. Ensure the sauna and steam room are regularly cleaned and provide members with cleaning hose to assist in maintaining these areas. 3. Reconsider the membership pricing to better reflect the current service and facility standards. Addressing these concerns will likely improve member satisfaction and retention.

Negative experience: Started here in mid December am already quitting gym isn’t all bad however way to many people are members you can never use the equipment u want too so your 1 hour session takes 2 hours and tbf there’s is a lack of equipment for £72 a month not even a calf raise machine bit of a piss take tbh only one punching bag and to top it off some of the classes want to take up the space so you can’t use the equipment you paid for to summarise it’s a very overpriced disorganised gym your basically paying for it because it looks modern and expensive oh and I almost forgot expect to pay over £110 just to start as an all inclusive member and then be told they need a months notice to cancel your membership yeah right can take my money fine but not stop it what a scam try stop me cancling my direct debit u ain’t getting another penny from me !

Positive experience: This is mainly a review of the pool and spa area as I haven't used the gym. From this perspective the health club is great given that you can use it for free if you're staying in the hotel. The staff are very welcoming, they provide you with a towel and the locker/changing area is clean and of a reasonable size. The pool itself isn't huge, and it's a bit warm for serious swimming, but it's big enough and deep enough. The attached sauna and steam rooms are great as are the poolside showers (although one is out of order at the moment). It looks like you can sunbathe outside in the summer but there's plenty of space inside to relax when the weather is less clement.

Fantastic experience: Great gym! Equipment is really good and the staff are the best.

Fantastic experience: Good well equipped gym - friendly staff. Was a bit concerned about the negative reviews until I remembered some people are just miserable, like it’s the gyms fault they couldn’t get on the machine they wanted!! Nice place to work out.

Fantastic experience: Top notch equipment and high calibre instructors/support team. Also an array of classes throughout the day every day. I’ve been lucky enough to experience a lot of gyms up and down the UK include big brands and none of them are a patch on this club. There’s something extra special about the place and people including the members who are a real mix of abilities and levels of fitness. All are friendly, smiley and helpful. There’s a definite warmth about the place. That’s why I’m giving this club a 5* review, it must be their vibe rubbing off on me!

Negative experience: Clean the changing room floors!!!! On op of this, their class cancellation policy is pathetic. Its 8am, i want to cancel a 7.15 class that there is a WAITING LIST for, and i cant. As someone regularly on the waiting list, i dont see why their stupid cancellation policy is like this. I bet every club member would agree that they would happily be added to the class list even just a couple hours before the class. This needs reviewing. This is not in the best interests of the members at all. And my wrist band never works first time either.

Fantastic experience: Just a quick thank you to all the staff at the Health Club. The reception staff are so friendly and extremely helpful if you have a query. It’s lovely to be greeted with a friendly face. Have been doing Aqua since retiring approximately 5 yrs ago. All instructors are first rate and sensitive to the capabilities of the participants. Tailoring their classes to allow you to work out at your pace and also giving those who can push themselves the opportunity to do so. Covid knocked everyone back to limited exercise so it is great to be able to have the opportunity to participate once again in such great classes. Long may it continue. Definitely 10 out of 10.

Fantastic experience: The staff at St Michael’s are the friendliest and most professional I have encountered in the gyms I have held membership in or visited over the years. They always remember your name and are available to help with any queries you have. What I particularly like about this Gym is the very varied selection of classes and wide breath of equipment. It is also nice to see the mixed generational make up of the members. I do 9 classes a week, so 36 a month, on my membership, that works out at £1.38 a class! A swim, steam and sauna is always a nice treat to myself afterwards and costs me nothing. I would recommend this Gym to anyone from total fitness beginners upwards.

Fantastic experience: The health club is a friendly and welcoming environment with good facilities. I have been a member for many years and take advantage of the excellent instructor led classes to develop my fitness and well being and to support me to build my strength and endurance for events. I took part in three triathlon camps, through which I made many new friends and gained a real sense of achievement. I enjoy relaxing on the pool, sauna and steam rooms too, especially after a dip in the sea! I have recently signed up for the extra benefits of the wellness membership with dedicated personal training and a spa session each month.

Negative experience: Overpriced gym, always full of people and hard to get onto equipment. Cleanliness is poor considering the super high prices. I always found the changing rooms to have mud on the floors and no shower gel/ shampoo. Also, be careful you don’t get fined £100 for parking in the car park. The gym contract sneakily states that health club members can’t use the car park (without paying) even after charging £60+ a month!! Wouldn’t recommend to anybody, there are cheaper and better gyms in the area. Very disappointing.

Negative experience: Absolutely discussed with getting 100 parking ticket! Been member for yrs all about the money not the customer

Fantastic experience: Great little gym and pool

Fantastic experience: The staff and members are all very friendly, they are sometimes a bit short staffed which is understandable in the current climate.

Gary Crawford 3 years ago

Negative experience: Room is very small for 2 grown men, plus only 4 hangers to share. Bed is too small and too soft but overall will have to do. The staff is pleasant but stiff. Seems to me they need to relax and talk to their customers, very robitic style, even though its a nice spa, its not all that is made up to be. Very cut and dry service. Food time is weak, no sense of urgency and waiting 35 minutes for cold bread is absurd. Overall, my experience was okay, nothing to brag about. Doubt very seriously if I would return.

Negative experience: unfortunately myself and my partner are key workers, we joined during lockdown easing and it was hard work trying to get a time to go due to booking system... there was nobody to show us around since lock down has eased prices have hiked right up now and they only offer full membership to nhs discounts which is disgraceful as it costs more than any other gym in falmouth and cornwall... such great potential with this place aswell... money grabbers who cater for the high paying holiday makers and no respect for the locals

Jon Edds 3 years ago

Negative experience: Having visited previously a few years ago as we live locally for a swim and to use the other facilities (Steam Room & Sauna) It now seems to be that you get charged a day rate of £20, this is great if you intend to use all day but perhaps on the odd occasion for an hour or so in the evening this is expensive, previously there was an option for this which I was £10-12 per visit. Having accepted this after being abruptly explained this on reception I now get told they won’t take cash! So walked back down to the road where we had to park to retrieve a card as the carpark was full. Once we were finally in it was 7.45pm having checked the website before it said last entry was 8.30pm and they closed at 9.30pm weekdays. The facilities were great as always and really clean. We were in the Steam Room at ten to 9 to then have a staff member come in to say ‘time to get out now, we’ve given you long enough’ in other words we want to get off home so hurry up and leave, there were several people getting ushered back to the changing rooms. It certainly doesn’t take over half an hour to get changed. Pretty much made to feel we weren’t wanted from start to finish and ended up paying £20 for a hour. I even left by mistake with my electronic wrist band for the locker as i didn’t want to hold you up any further! We looked into membership beforehand as obviously that’s the way they want you to do it and price wise this is better but after this experience I think we will pass, shame as the place itself is really nice, just maybe not the attitude of the staff.

Hannah Baker 3 years ago

Negative experience: The cleanliness of the changing rooms is shocking. I am a member and I have complained 4 times in the last few months yet nothing seems to be done about this. They have increased the prices quite substantially this year (children's membership has almost doubled) so I don't understand why they can't pay their staff more to clean the facilities. There is regularly pink mould around the water fountain, hair on the floor and dirt and grime on the tiles. I even cleaned the floor myself this week as I did not want to walk on the floor in bare foot. It was that filthy. The response from staff if always that they are about to do a deep clean but they don't seem to understand the importance of cleaning on a daily basis. I would not recommend a membership here. We won't be continuing once our year's membership is over. Further to the other review - I agree with the issue of children jumping and diving in. I have, again, brought this to the staff's attention but nothing is done about it. It is very dangerous. I take my own three children and do not let them jump in as it's not that kind of environment. Other parents don't seem to have consideration for others. This is where the staff need to step in but they do not.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic pool, hydro pool, sauna and steam room for all ages. We stayed at St Michaels hotel and resort and booked a lovely morning swim. Perfect mini pool for tiny tots as well. Staff super friendly, helpful, facilitation safe and very clean.

Negative experience: Disgusting how much money they want for a membership. Totally rip off place. The cleaner 2x disposed my swimming shorts. I went back to pick up and just lies and lies. Disgusting!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Went to the swimming pool with a friend, very relaxing experience and staff was very friendly, especially the student with the blonde hair :).

Negative experience: Spent £30 on a swim for a friend and I in the ‘health spa’, just to swim for a total of around 20mins out of the couple hours we were there because it was packed with kids jumping off the sides and even worse, off of the tall wall by the seating. It was super dangerous and no one came to sort it out. I’m only 30, I’m all for kids having fun, but there were no signs saying kids would be in there, it says no diving but the kids were bombing in and chucking each other in front of people swimming, and when you’re at a spa to swim and relax, it doesn’t really cut it. We spent more time persuading each other to try and stick it out because we used to love going. I told the lady on the desk- and she shrugged it off, and said ‘yeah, sorry, it happens’. So a severe health and safety issue doesn’t concern them, or the fact that a set of customers who return on a monthly basis for the past 5 years don’t want to come back. Really disappointed I wasn’t even offered a refund or spoken to without attitude. I was polite and didn’t raise my voice, I work with young people for a living and used to be in retail management, so I usually understand and won’t complain. But this was negligent to say the least.

Positive experience: This health club has so much potential to be a fantastic facility, but I feel that for the amount of money they charge for a membership, the regularity and length of time facilities and equipment are out of order it is not really justified (showers and sauna regularly out of order, lockers dont work and far too small, gym equipment takes far to long to repair). I also feel there is significantly more room for cardio equipment which limits the amount of available space for weight training, which can be seen when members are waiting for weights or machines etc to free up. On a positive note, cleanliness in the gym is perfect and customer service from the staff is great too.

Sheila Kerslake 6 years ago

Positive experience: Very disappointed with being charged over £3 to send a voucher which would have only cost a second class stamp. Don't think this is good for business, they would make postage on one drink.
