Negative experience: I was a member for two years and, overall, had a decent experience. However, I did feel there were areas for improvement. The changing rooms could use an upgrade, and I noticed that some members did not maintain cleanliness in the sinks and showers. Given these aspects, I personally did not feel that the membership offered good value for the cost. Just my perspective based on my time there.
Fantastic experience: While it may not be the newest, it's incredibly spacious, with plenty of room to work out, even during peak hours. They have a lot of variety of machines, and I never had to wait long to use one. Locker rooms always clean, and the showers have pretty good water pressure. The staff and PTs are friendly, helpful, and available without being intrusive. Overall, a very consist, no-nonsense gym experience.
Negative experience: A lady on reception called Philippa was incredibly unwelcoming and rude to a breastfeeding mother (previous member too) who wanted to shelter from the pouring rain and feed/ change her baby. She has an attitude and shouldn’t be in a front of house or customer facing role.
Negative experience: I have had a deeply unpleasant experience with Tamayah at this gym, which has left me feeling both racially profiled and unwelcome. Almost every time I enter, she watches me as if she’s waiting to question whether I truly belong here. Despite being a paying member like everyone else, her behavior makes me feel singled out and judged. One particular incident stands out: I entered the gym, completed my workout, and left, but realized I had forgotten something in my locker. When I turned back to retrieve it, she stopped me at the door and demanded that I tap my membership card again—despite having just seen me leave moments earlier. Her actions made me feel unnecessarily penalized, embarrassed, and as though I was being treated differently from other members. No one should feel this way in a space that’s supposed to foster health and inclusivity. This behavior is unacceptable, and it has left a lasting negative impression on my gym experience. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue and ensures all members are treated with respect.
Negative experience: Very disappointing experience for me. Was a member since 2018 (6 years +). Was made redundant and had to relocate and needed to cancel my membership. They will grill you on the T&C of the contract you sign to ensure you pay all months therefrom and at the moment of any dialogue they will tell you that they will send to a collection agency if you do not pay. Technically right they may be following their T&C, but certainly they do not care about your personal circumstances. I would definitely never sign up to a gym that did not care about you as a person as a true quality gym would provide you that friendly welcoming experience. Upmarket pricing for an average gym that without hesitation will send your account to a collection agency if they can.
Negative experience: The maintenance of the gym equipment has gone downhill over the years and gym equipment can remain unusable for weeks even months, plus the staff are unaware of when it will be fixed. Used to be like a proper members club with a decent lounge area where you could read newspapers over a coffee or snack, but those nicer services have been removed. The pool has too many hours dedicated to family and children usage which restricts the Adult only swim times.

Negative experience: Kudos to Nuffield for posting a sign inviting Google Reviews. I've been a member for a couple of years and attend regularly. This is a below standard gym for the high price tag. Gym machinery and equipment are functional, but dated. Often in need of some aesthetic maintenance. Staff all seem very nice. General building decor and maintenance is below average and needs to be better. Maintenance of walls and runners and even things like piles of chairs and cleaning machines being stored in hallways gives it a rundown feeling. So it's a 'fine' gym, but I grate at the experience I get for the very high price tag. I'm basically a member here because it's the nearest gym to me.

Positive experience: Quiet environment with clean facilities and friendly staff. Was exceptionally quiet during the school as expected. Fresh towels in arrival and issues parking tickets that make your parking free. Love the smell of the complimentary soap and lotions which seem to always be replenished.

Positive experience: I've been a member of Nuffield Wandsworth for two years and I appreciate the overall atmosphere and friendly staff. However, I think the gym could benefit from a few upgrades. Some of the leg machines, especially the leg extension and leg curl are frequently out of order or seem outdated. Investing in newer models would greatly improve the workout experience. Additionally, an adductor and abductor machine would be a valuable addition to the equipment lineup. Lastly, it would be convenient to have a wider range of lighter weights available on the main floor, as it can get quite crowded during peak hours.

Negative experience: Nice staff but really dirty pool, saw a poo there few times, not to mention other sthings in the water. Shower rooms are also dirty and the floor in class studio are always covered in dust and hair. I will probably switch to other gym.
Hi Maria, whilst we are sorry for any poor experience. We do need to dispute your view here. If any detritus such as you have claimed is in the pool. It would closed for backwashing. We are a member of PAWTAG (the pool standards advisory board) and take our obligations with regards to pool quality very seriously. Positive experience: I used to come here when it was Canons Health Club and I still enjoy it. The gym is generally quite clean although it could do with a proper deep cleaning every few months (mainly in the changing rooms). There is sometimes the odd mess but this is all down to the people using the establishment (and their kids)! The gym itself isn't big so best to come during off peak times. I can see that they've upgraded equipment which is a bonus. The pool is generous and I still love going for a swim there. Whilst the steam room is in the poolside area, the sauna is in the changing rooms. I've got no complaints about the pool. No jacuzzi which some people may not like but personally I'm not bothered about Jacuzzis. I come here to exercise, not relax! The vending machines need to be checked more often as they're usually almost empty. They got rid of the cafe (but there are still machines by the entrance). Staff are friendly and there are some faces i recognise from years ago! They're all helpful and classes are fun. Parking is really easy as its within the land, but make sure to grab a ticket from reception to avoid fines. Overall I'm happy with Nuffield Burr Road and much prefer it to Wandsworth Southside!

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting staff!! Not helpful made me walk in the rain to a spa I’m a cab driver I was dropping off a worker at the health centre, I just wanted to use the toilet! It’s not like I wanted a free guest pass. Avoid this Nuffield Health appalling! Place!

Negative experience: I must express my deep disappointment with this gym's standards and the exorbitant fees they charge. It is truly disheartening to witness the state of their outdated facilities, which appear to have remained untouched since the 1980s. Charging £85 per month for such lackluster amenities is simply unjustifiable. It is sad to see people being taken advantage of due to the gym's monopoly on the area's only pool. It is a facility that resembles a run-of-the-mill leisure centre masquerading as a high spec luxury gym.

Negative experience: Busy gym, have to book classes instantly upon release in order to have any access. Watch out for the customer service too. Failed to provide me full access for the first week and charged me an additional month (as they missed my email and GTCs require the customer to follow up, removing NH's liability). All round very disappointing.

Negative experience: Small gym with very little equipment to go around so you'll need to wait around. No jacuzzi which is usually a staple for Nuffield Gyms, small steam room and sauna. Relatively clean but otherwise not worth the membership fee

Negative experience: Rubbish gym. If something breaks it either vanishes or they take months to fix it. The sauna, pool area, changing rooms so dirty as well. You prob end up dirtier for going in there. Toilets are disgusting. If u leave anything in changing rooms will get stolen 100%. Rubbish

Negative experience: The male toilets are blocked today (as always) and filled with faces. There is absolutely no toilet extract ventilation either which is against regulation.

Fantastic experience: I joined Nuffield Health Wandsworth a few months back, as I recently got a new job. I came across from The Gym/Pure Gym down the road. Comparing them to Nuffield, Nuffield complete blows the others 2 out the water. Would highly recommended moving if you’re considering. It has a sauna and steam room, which is great at the end of a workout. The jacuzzi is closed for the winter (due to the high cost of heating). But the pool, is still great fun to use for a casual swim in the slow lane. It’s a lot quieter than my previous gyms and the clientele are more professional. The towels are also a great addition. There was more equipment choice at my previous gyms, so that might be something to consider. But it has all the main machines/weights that you need. Overall highly recommend it.
Positive experience: Joined 2 weeks ago and have only had a great experience. Gym floor, change rooms and showers are clean. Lots of equipment available and it all looks brand new. Staff are friendly and happy to help. Have tried the pool and it's perfect, 20metres with 4 lanes.

Negative experience: We thought we were upgrading from thegym in Colliers Wood to a gym with a great spa facility (spa pool, sauna & steam room)… However what we didn’t realise is that the mens showers are full of these little water flies and worms in the sealant around the edges. Horrible cleanliness. What we have just learnt is that they, along with all the other Nuffield's are now CLOSING their spa pools because of the energy price hike?! Do Nuffield think we are not suffering with the energy price hike too? Why haven’t they dropped the price of the premium membership or offered ANY alternative? There are debates going on in the sauna’s everyday now it seems, the general theme is that they could have turned it off for most of the day and kept it on during the evening times at the very least. Just one way for them to combat is this energy hike is to just TAKE AWAY the spa pool? I don’t know how much longer I can pay for something that wasn’t what I was initially promised that I was getting.

Negative experience: Good equipment but very dirty gym. They have a fly infestation in the ladies changing rooms. The pool is always busy with children's lessons during weekdays. The ladies toilet in the changing rooms out of order for months. The staff always trying to sell their training lessons. For the price I would choose another club within the area.

Fantastic experience: I have mainly used the pool and attended some classes. The pool is great and never too busy unless it's aqua fit time or kids swim lessons. Ladies changing rooms and showers are always clean. Diane is also the most amazing class instructor!
Positive experience: Not the most spacious Nuffield gym, but helpful and friendly staff and has all the equipment I would want from gym. Changing rooms are more spacious than other Nuffield gyms which is a bonus.
Negative experience: After 35 minutes of illogical and exhausting conversation with the reception staff, they finally had the brilliant idea to redirect us towards the Nuffield Health swimming centre over the park.

Fantastic experience: The gym is much better and well stocked than the website seems to suggest. Plenty of equipment for what most people need and very modern and clean inside. Social distancing and cleaning seemed to be respected by almost all inside the gym. Will from the memberships team was very welcoming and did a great tour around for me.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym with free parking and brand new cardio and strength equipment. Pool area is very good too. The gym is very well maintained and cleaned.
Fantastic experience: Went before Xmas to this gym just for a free trial, was no planing to join, but at the end I did join. The staff is very friendly. The manager who did the walk with me, William, did a great customer service, explained me all facilities and options. The swimming pool is big enough and the gym is much quieter and cleaner then other gyms in the area.
Positive experience: Had free pass from friend, good experience good equipment sauna and steam room , only issues some of boxing gloves really stank proper nasty .. otherwise it’s clean place

Negative experience: Staff are friendly but the gym is so run-down. I switched to the one at Southside (formerly a Virgin gym and it's way better). For the cost of the membership it's not up to standard. It's like you've gone back in time...The equipment and decor of the place does not live up to expectations. When I was using it the Watt bikes were always breaking and there were only two of them, with at least 1 out of order most of the time. One positive is that it's quite quiet. Mainly used by older people and mums with young kids.
Positive experience: The staff I've interacted with so far have all been great and it's relatively empty, it also has a big car park. To be honest these are the only positive features. The place needs a face lift. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room just don't feel clean. It won't take much work, just needs someone to invest in this place. It's got a damn sight better people in it than the one down the road at Southside.
Negative experience: You can see that the original google reviews were most likely paid for as they are all five stars with no explanation. Reading recent reviews you will get a better sense of the gym. I used to love this gym, outdated equipment but relatively well kept and provides great gym experience to suit your needs - except it carries a high price tag. I'm reviewing 1 star because of the low quality of customer service and for their refusal to cancel my subscription in lieu of extenuating circumstances. Their contracts are branded as "fair and honest" but they exploit members by binding them to pay an additional month of fees after cancellation. Nuffield threatens to sell debts off immediately to third-party collection agencies as well. Overall really dissatisfied with Nuffield , you can find better more accommodating gyms nearby.
Negative experience: Very dated cardio equipment. Cross trainers have iPod docks so that tells you the investment in equipment that’s going on - it isn’t! Pool closed over Xmas & steam room too. Went to steam room 18 Jan & cold!! The level if services is extremely poor for the money. The whole building is in desperate need of updating, it’s tired and sterile, no atmosphere. Shower area awful. Lots of dust and dirt plainly in view on ceiling and pipe work above cardio equipment on mezzanine. This being the case for at least 12 months would suggest a very contentious attitude to the paying members. Don’t know if this is a Nuffield issue, but we came from David Lloyd club which operates its club in a different hemisphere... would suggest checking out other clubs before latching on here. Positive comments are some of the staff are a credit, Dave Catcheside, top guy, Carey is the life and soul of this place and Diane & Zec at the top of their game.
Positive experience: The audiovisual element of the equipment doesn’t work on most of the machines.
Negative experience: The staff are friendly enough but the equipment is ancient. Rowing machines are not fit for purpose and never seem to be serviced while running/cycling machines are always going wrong and are antiques anyway. There are far cheaper gyms in the area with better equipment if you don't need the swimming pool. Of the three nuffield gyms I use this is by far and away the worst.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible service, rude staff with attitudes at the front desk (some are great but most are terrible and miserable). Like most of these gyms these days sadly. They take no care of the members at all, needs a referb to get on par with all the other gyms in the area.

Negative experience: Since Nuffield took over the gym from Virgin Active and replaced many of the staff members the place has gone downhill. The staff at reception act as if they're at their own private social club and just banter with themselves all day. Most can't be bothered to even acknowledge or greet you when you enter or leave the gym. I'm leaving Nuffield and finding another local virgin active. It might cost more but at least you get shown some respect.
