Everlast Gyms - Poole: Opinions

Negative experience: Unfortunately I have been a member for a number of years, since it changed hands from DW, the staff are all great and could not fault them at all, otherwise I would be giving it one star. The equipment is becoming a joke, things have broken and never been replaced, the cables have been broken for nearly on a month now, things are falling apart in front of you. There just isn't enough equipment now for the amount of members they clearly have it really needs more and updated equipment. The facilities are also becoming a state of disrepair, the gents showers are literally falling apart (tiles falling off the wall) the toilets also need some love, the whole place needs a refurbishment it still has the branding everywhere from when it was DW and it's never changed since they had it. Sad to say I am now looking for another gym to go to it's just become a poor quality gym unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here before and had a tour recently, very good facilities and friendly staff, Emma was particularly helpful in showing me around and answering my question.

Gavin Elson 6 months ago

Negative experience: The photo sums up the gym. 25% of all kit is out of action 100% of the time! Great gym for body weight/calisthenics ;-)

Negative experience: The worst app, sauna haven’t been working about month

Andrew Gale 7 months ago

Positive experience: Just recently joined this gym again. Last time did only a month and the place was a bit shabby. This time though it's not too bad! The place looks half decent, and the biggest bonus here is the pool within walking distance of my place and I love a swim to warm up first. Pool could do with a clean around the edges but that's a big job. Bit of descaler treatment could smarten up the showers perhaps. Should be sticking to this more long term hopefully and get some fitness back in my life. Just one thing... You need a padlock for the locker though sort of medium sized.

Negative experience: This gym is so disappointing. I’ve been going to this gym for a while as it’s walking distance from home but it’s just always packed 24/7 can never use any equipment it’s so busy. The stair masters have been out of use for months it’s so disappointing. Giving out free memberships every month and taking on new members 24/7 is just putting the gym over capacity for people to enjoy. At least change the opening times to earlier in the morning so people can come in earlier and actually get a chance to use the equipment.

Fantastic experience: Got everything you need - pool, all the various equipment and a large open space to train. Staff are lovely - highly recommend.

Negative experience: I’m a member but going to cancel membership as you can’t get any classes. The classes go in seconds as soon as they are online so it’s a pointless gym if you want to do classes.

jack Radford 9 months ago

Negative experience: The gym is decent and pool but come on… surely management can see and smell how bad the black mould is in the steamroom and showers. Its disgusting. Buy some mould remover and sort it out. Home bargains across the street has it for like £1.50 a bottle. There is no excuse for how bad it is… never seen anything like it.

Joe Sears 9 months ago

Negative experience: Everything is broken and tired and Everlast appear to be unprepared to spend any money on maintaining the gym. Hair dryer has been broken for weeks, big hole in the men’s changing room. Taps loose. The equipment breaks and takes an age to be fixed

Tally Quijada 10 months ago

Positive experience: I usually go to the gym I enjoy do my workout here but unfortunately this place needs to clean frequently.

Ben O 11 months ago

Negative experience: Too busy Full of kids Outdated equipment which is always broken Pay the extra and go elsewhere

V Warren 11 months ago

Positive experience: Classes are great. Love body pump, fantastic staff. £30pp good price, you do pay for what you get. You need to book a week in advance for a class. Reason is a three as the centre is in decline. I have been a member for over a year and been told it's been waiting for a refurb the whole time.. I wonder if it's actually going to happen. Toilets don't all lock, without toilet paper. There is no air con in the studio as it's broken. Some of the running machines are out of order. Spin classes are good. The gym is friendly and a good space. Once it's updated, the changing rooms, air con, etc, then it would deserve a higher rating. Right not it's an OK.

Anna Adawy 11 months ago

Negative experience: poor customer service Asked a receptionist about gym membership - she advised me to Google it even tho I was standing in front of her face to face wanting to get the membership. What's the point of people even being there if they gonna refer you to mr google anyway?

Gavin Crossley 1 year ago

Negative experience: A spin class full.of people sitting there waiting for an instructor who has called in sick....the lesson on reception just sits there and doesn't tell anyone. To be fair, it was a treat finding a member of staff actually on the counter. I counted 8 machines with out of order notices on....some have been like that for weeks. Ripped and stinky matts by the mirrors...Equipment is outdated. Staff really don't seem to care, and the changing rooms and sauna.....jesus christ! The men's showers have more broken and empty soap dispensers than working ones...showers not working, and the sauna frequently broken. The classes used to be regular and early each week day...now they're infrequent and the PA system being used is so old, you get horrific feedback everytime the instructor moves their head. Absolutely shocking

Negative experience: Leaving here shortly and can't wait!!! Most gym equipment is broken, outdated etc.. read the other reviews and have a 2 minute tour of the place. Equipment not been repaired in over a year. Huge queues, too many people, not enough machines, no crowd control by reception. There's been a leak coming from one of the walls since I started there 2 years ago.. never fixed. Jacuzzi hasn't been fixed in over a year.. £30 a month for a 12 month contract where they're basically robbing you. Makes me laugh when they send emails about their app and how great it is.. (it really isn't, it's copying data from Apple Health or your native phone/watch provider) maybe repair your products i.e gym equipment, before you go marketing it.

Positive experience: The staff is really nice also the people that go are very friendly. However I do think that they should put more than 1 machine of 1 workout but overall an amazing place to workout if ur at any stage of ur fitness.

Fantastic experience: Air conditioned and clean gym . Lovely staff who are very welcoming and the classes are fantastic .

Negative experience: Updating from 3* to 1*. Firstly, the PTs and Managers are exceptional and as I see it, do their best with what they have. They respond to issues and deal with unruly members when needed and are usually very genial and professional. You can tell they’re putting up with lack of support from their bosses who push pens and paper around. However, the gym itself is in a state of disrepair or has other issues: - the deadlift platforms are severely dented and have been for over a year - the frames on the deadlift platforms are broken and are either a trip or a cut hazard - the glute bridge is regularly out of order - a cable machine has a handle missing making it impossible to change the height of a pulley - it took 4 weeks for a hand-drier to get fixed - a tap in the men’s bathroom has been hanging off for a while now - ripped yoga mats - some of the benches have missing parts meaning the angle can’t be adjusted - gym etiquette among members is severely lacking (sitting in front of the rack blocking access, throwing weight plates, leaving weights lying around etc) Apparently these have all been raised to the head office to be fixed but as yet, only the hand drier was fixed. Also be aware that sometimes they switch the men’s and women’s changing rooms around, so you might get someone walk in on you…

Belinda Neave 1 year ago

Positive experience: Very well priced gym, but little things like bolts on Ladies toilet doors not mended for months. Cafe excellent, just changed hands, so needs more people having meals to support Dan, who is a great cook Place is good but feels unloved.

Alexander James Conroy 1 year ago

Negative experience: I hate to give bad reviews but it’s important that new potential members should read this before joining. The equipment is very outdated. The toilets are like public ones that have had no care and attention. The gym opens at 8am on weekends which causes a huge amount of people to enter the gym at once which is intense to say the least. The staff however are extremely nice. This gym could be great if they gave it some much needed TLC and a revamp.

Ewelina Wyszyńska 1 year ago

Positive experience: Not everything always works, air conditioning or fans in treadmills. Frequent service would be useful.

resistance 1 year ago

Negative experience: the pool 8/10 times will have plasters or some other debree in it the boxing gloves are absolutly toxic and putrid multiple people have complained and they fail to get it replaced they literally fall apart and leave foam bits all over the floor , the steam room is also putrid feels more like your just sitting in a room thats humid with broken tiles also wouldnt be suprised if it hasnt been cleaned in weeks , the staff is lovely and the actual gym is clean but that's the minimum expectations for a gym

Maria Gabriela Concha 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Great gym and equipment. Fair prices, good environment.

Wanesa Ciach 1 year ago

Negative experience: Don’t was your money here on a membership This gym got everything broken and the boss or the manager are not bothered to fix it The hot tubes in the pool section haven’t been fixed for over a year now and I don’t think they’re planning on to fixing them, the sauna sometimes works sometimes it doesn’t it’s an absolute joke. The gym even gets so busy that you can go on anything else because someone already took the thing you’re gonna go on next. If there price wasn’t so much for a membership per month I wouldn’t complain but for what I’m paying a month is a joke, at least they could lower the prices down if something are broken to make up for it but no, I’m getting robbed blind! I only go to this gym because it’s close to where I live but absolutely rubbish, don’t waste your money here. If I could give this zero stars I would

RaDC 1 year ago

Negative experience: Such a shocking and disappointing experience with this gym. I was a member when it was DW however since being taken over by Everlast nothing has been done to improve facilities. Chunks of walls are missing, mold and mildew around, nothing is ever clean, clumps of hair and dust everywhere. Broken equipment ours totally shocking. I joined on the back of being a DW member and signed up to a 12 month contract - once I saw the facilities I asked to cancel and was denied. Totally appalling.

Negative experience: If you don't want to modernize it, that's fine, but you could at least give it the proper maintenance. Just wait for someone to get hurt...

Max 1 year ago

Negative experience: The gym is alright, but the staff so far do not seem to care whatsoever. Currently got a complaint in process because I set membership up at the counter with a staff member who i’ve since been told was in her first week of working there, and was totally unsupervised. She explained nothing about the process to me, and took skeleton details that normally wouldn’t even let her set an account up so much so that not even payment details were taken and debt was mounted up for a month’s worth on my account. This issue was only fixed because I noticed myself that there was outstanding payment required and connected the dots thinking “hang on a second how the hell am I even paying for this” a month or so later. I then went in to get it paid and sorted and was told by the same girl that it was now all sorted, and went about my day. Following on from this I tried cancelling immediately (I pay for the monthly package which is the most costly so I can cancel whenever necessary) but was met with a notice of debt still being outstanding and it appeared after consulting the reception that this was due to the staff member only taking payment for the second month and the first month STILL BEING OUTSTANDING. I told them I needed to cancel due to a change in circumstance and I’m beginning studies soon, and was told I can’t cancel without paying the outstanding amount and then they’d try requesting cancellation. Aidan told me about two/three weeks ago that he can’t cancel it til it’s paid and we agreed that I’d come back in on the 25th (payday) and get it paid and cancelled, and he assured me that there would be NO FURTHER PAYMENTS TAKEN. This was not the case and despite being told by the staff that I would not be charged any more money, I have been. And so far there is no sign of this being amended after emailing and speaking face to face with the team, explaining multiple times in full depth the timeline of how this has all happened. After noticing the money had been taken despite being told this WOULD NOT HAPPEN, I decided to call the gym and spoke to a lady who asked me to email the story and she’d be speaking to head office. I explained that I never had anything explained to me whatsoever about this and asked that they cancel it immediately. So at my inconvenience, I then on the spot forked out the outstanding £40 that I thought had already been taken (but hadn’t because the lady did not take it even the second time) all so that I could then request cancellation. I asked for them to bypass this month of notice because nothing had been explained and used the lack of account details as an example of the poor service I’d received which shows that any process this gym had not been followed properly whatsoever. I’ve been told to leave it with the reception manager Leila/Layla or however you do spell her name, and so far she has been helpful but I have not heard back in about 5 days since being told to leave it with them, and have chased them via email which I’ve had no replies back on whatsoever the couple times I have tried the exact email they provided me. All in all, I will recommend that everyone avoids this gym. It is not a team that you can trust, the gym equipment is always broken, it’s always warm as hell in there and the steam room is currently out of action as well. Not worth the cost when The Gym at Nuffield costs like half the price and is way bigger.

Negative experience: Tired and broken avoid avoid avoid ! Was not told needed a lock to lock the locker .the changing room has damaged walls litter all over the floor the steam room was broken and jacuzzi hasn't been working for about a year according to a member. Stayed less then 10 mins of my 3 day free trail

Fantastic experience: Didn't go tot he gym, visited sports direct. Great store with a wide range instock.

Ross Gammon 1 year ago

Negative experience: Ever since the gym changed hands from DW fitness to Everlast, nothing has changed, no improvement and just appears to be being run into the ground, not surprising for a company associated with Sports Direct. When I joined the gym, we had 3 clocks, 1 broke and not replaced, a 2nd broke and not replaced. Today we now have no clocks in the gym, don't appear to have a TV licence and the music is terrible. I really only go here now for free parking and convenience.

Artur Dymerski 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good place, but not investing money from years now, not best clean, steam room most of time out of use. Staff friendly, but because of cheap prices for membership lot's of kids.

RoUseD VidEo 1 year ago

Negative experience: Everlast Gym in Branksome has a fantastic team of staff, but unfortunately, the machines have been broken and not working for months. Despite reaching out, the company hasn't taken any action to fix the issue. I pay £40 a month for membership, and it's frustrating that the machines remain broken. I requested to cancel my membership due to this ongoing problem, but I'm being told I have to wait another month and a half. This is unacceptable!

Toby Smith 1 year ago

Negative experience: One of the worst gyms in the area. Equipment gets broken then not repaired for weeks sometimes months. Outdated unhygienic changing rooms. Showers that don’t work properly. Steam room mouldy. 2 jacuzzis that haven’t worked since being a member. All the changing room benches ripped or damaged. Toilets leaking since being there - pungent smell of urine. Honesty would not waste your money on this place. Been trying to cancel my membership but just being handed around the membership department for weeks. See photos for evidence

Alan 1 year ago

Negative experience: Go elsewhere! Half of the equipment doesn’t work and the staff really don’t seem care. CV equipment is pretty dirty as well. Don’t even bother with the changing rooms!

Stephen Nafzger 1 year ago

Negative experience: If you like a very busy gym, broken equipment, dirty toilets with broken locks, Jacuzzis that don't work, a steam room that is mouldy and dirty and doesn't work half the time , classes that you have to book 1 week in advance for otherwise you can't get on , a gym in desperate need of updating and maintenance this is the gym for you . The staff do their best and the gym is cheap, that is the only good thing.

Anthony P 1 year ago

Negative experience: Pure laziness not to put their Christmas / New Year opening hours on google or their website. Wasted journey when everything online said it was open.

Mah “Yza” Mascarenhas 1 year ago

Negative experience: Poor gym . No enough equipments . They only want new memberships, but I don't see anything being done to improve them. There are days when the gym is so full that there isn't enough equipment, there aren't enough weights and the classes are full... impossible to do a normal workout … it is terrible… I have done a anual plan. But when it finishes for sure I will have look another one

Daniel Meaden 1 year ago

Positive experience: Firstly, let's start with the good points: - The gym is large has has a really good range of equipment - The classes are good and the instructors are really friendly - The reception staff are really friendly and helpful Now, the bad points: - The pool area really let's things down, the pool isn't always open and on weekends there are children's classes leaving only one lane to swim - this would be a problem but the opening hours are 9 - 6 on weekends and last entry is 5:15, so there's a very small window to actually swim for exercise. - The jacuzzis haven't worked since I joined and they look as if they haven't worked for a while - The steam room smells, it needs a good clean, it feels unhygienic. - The changing rooms need refurbishment and the tanning room is a waste of space as the machine doesn't work! So, all in all, Everlast you need to pull your finger out and put some money back into the gym, just a little bit of care and attention would make this a great place to train. Also, 8pm close on weekends! :-D

Eric M 1 year ago

Positive experience: Nice gym with friendly staff, however the entire gym seems like it is in desperate need of a refurbishment. The equipment is mostly outdated and rusty and the changing rooms have damp and mould especially around the showers.

Dianne Singh 2 years ago

Positive experience: The staff are all very helpful, encouraging and cheerful and the classes are all well led and popular. BUT the ladies changing facilities leave a lot to be desired. Locks missing off toilet doors, broken soap dispensers and the showers had mould on the sealants. The changing facilities are in desperate need of refurbishment.

Samuel Orbell 2 years ago

Negative experience: I signed up to this gym last year. At this time, it was perfectly fine, not too busy. Within 6 months, the gym got extremely busy at ANY time of day, to the point where I couldn’t use anything without waiting. The quality of the equipment is poor and the majority of members are sadly rude and inconsiderate. I was also tied into a 12 month membership and was not able to leave. Stay far away.

Kairi Frost 2 years ago

Negative experience: After trying to contact this team in store aswell as through multiple incorrect emails given to me for the last few months, I’ve realised how careless companies can be. I’ve tried to notify them since may that I am unable to attend the gym for the time being due to having to go back to London to look after my mother with stage 3 cancer. I’ve asked them to cancel the membership/not charge me for the months I’m away as there are no facilities near myself, as well as being refunded for the month I haven’t been there due to this situation. After finally getting a response they’ve completely shut it down and not considered the situation at all. I am saddened that after all the time it took to be able to reach out to them for some help, as finances are short due to not being able to work whilst in London looking after my mother, it was a simple email sent back and then ignored again. I won’t be renewing my membership when it ends. I shouldn’t have to call the store above and get them to grab a manager in the gym! Answer your phone!

Selina Courtenay 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Love the classes, the instructors, in fact all the staff are really friendly. They work really hard to make the classes fun and varied. I don’t really go in the gym much but there is a lot of equipment. Definitely good value for money.

Positive experience: I had a tour of the gym and really liked it.

NSaru 25 2 years ago

Negative experience: Some classes are really good with lots of energy. However this gym is so run down with broken mirrors that need replacing, not very clean, some days the Air Con doesn't work, showers have a 5 seconds timer and totally run down, changing rooms have broken furniture and humidity. They really need to sort out all these issues.

Aurea Bellatrex 2 years ago

Negative experience: The worst gym ever I seen it Hygiene “ 0 “ Very dusty GYM ( every time when you do exercise you have a feeling that you are breathing a dust ) -Old carpet -Old rusted machines -Chlorine in the swimming pool it's going to kill your eyes -Dirty toilet or blocked from toilet paper

Negative experience: Gym is ok. Fined by car park company for staying until 2208 (gym closed at 10). Gym staff say they can’t help with the £100 fine even though I’m a member and they can see by dates and times i was just using the gym, not sympathetic, not welcoming, when contract is up will take my money elsewhere.

Marina Oliveira 2 years ago

Positive experience: Be aware to give 30 days NOTICE FOR CANCELLATION. I am not happy because I was planning to finish the contract in 15 days. But they have said that I have to pay for the next month. The cancellation process holds customers.

Jason Watts 2 years ago

Negative experience: This review isn't a reflection on the staff there. They do a good job and I feel sorry for them having to work here. Used to be a really good club but lack of any investment now means that machines are old and constantly breaking, changing rooms are tired, toilets often out of order, no soap, no dispensers, no hot-tubs, poor decorative order throughout. Actually pretty depressing to be honest. If it wasn't so close to work and home I would have left months ago. Everlast has zero interest in making this a nice place to train.

Negative experience: A lot of basic equipment missing the one that they have is worn and broken, disgustingly dirty toilets and to top it up with the appaling service, this place should be closed by the health inspection.

Mitchell Wilson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Gym is good, but when equipment breaks it doesn’t get fixed for what seems like ages and the steam room hasn’t been working since I joined over a month ago. Also seems to be a shortage of 10 and 15 kg plates.

Luke Reynolds 2 years ago

Negative experience: NO STEAM ROOM, NO JACUZZI, SWIMMING POOL NOT POSSIBLE, NO SOAP IN SHOWERS. Todays visit.. After a PT session in another venue I drove to Everlast to use the spa facilities to find all of the above out of action. A complete waste of my time and certainly my money as my final option of having a shower wasn’t even possible. Inexplicably awful. I’ll be requesting my membership fees back and discontinuing my membership.

Negative experience: Poor facilities, steam room is not working for the 4th week and Jacuzzis are not working for a very long time…

Tom Sears 2 years ago

Negative experience: Reflect the other reviews, Everlast are just milking this site. Poor maintenance etc, the staff try really hard but it's clearly a HO directive. Final straw for me was a change of policy so I can't use a guest pass for my son to go swimming (only can be used by over 16s?!?), so now have to pay. Pointless being a member. Hopefully a good operator will take it on. 10y member, giving notice.

Miles Croft 2 years ago

Negative experience: Since being taken over by Everlast the place has been neglected more and more. Toilets are always blocked, don’t have paper, or both, the place is never cleaned, half the treadmills don’t work, there’s been a hole in wall for months, the steam room is mouldy, one hot tub is pretty much always off. It’s ok for working out but absolutely nothing else.

Fantastic experience: The classes are great (spin and Yoga with Sarah in particular) and the gym itself is very well equipped. Lots of different weight machines for all muscle groups and extensive strength training area, along with lots of cardio machines.

Josh Yetman 2 years ago

Negative experience: Great, friendly staff. Good range of classes. Terribly maintained gym. Equipment often broken and takes literal months to fix only to be broken again in a week, pool often closed, don't even think about using the hottub as it'll be out of order, place is literally falling apart. Avoid if you can.

Negative experience: I've been a member for quite a while and it's gone downhill quite rapidly following the acquisition by Mike Ashley's consortium. S other people have pointed out the jaccuzis have been broken for months and the steam room isnt very steamy.

Positive experience: Gym itself very spacious, however missing a free weights- everyone keep walking and looking for them as its not enough of them and u have to wait to grab any for yourself. Also gym has no back extension stand and special bench for hip thrust lifting exercises.

Laureana Klepacz 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My experience is your staff member are so good and very helpful when my husband fall I'll I'll infront of the gyms.

Julian Kennedy 2 years ago

Negative experience: Pool is a good size and temperature however if you want to use the pool in the evening or weekend there is only one small swimming lane as the pool is packed out by external classes for children and families, more like a leisure centre than a members gym which is not made clear when you become a member. The hot tubs have been broken for a while and they will not be fixed as part of Everlast’s plan which is hugely disappointing for a paying gym member who does not use the machines. They should be covered up rather than leave them open giving the impression they are going to be fixed when they are not. The steam room hardly produces any steam and rarely gets hot. I’m disappointed as the location is convenient but feel let down by the lack of investment and the fact that the pool is pretty much out of bounds bar a couple of hours here and there in the evening and weekend.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, I mainly go to classes which are amazing, all instructors are great and also fun, I used to hate sport but now I go to this gym with pleasure, even wake up early morning on Saturday to attend zumba because Karen is a Goddess ! The gym itself is nice and modern, well equipped, I also had a private instructor session and I really enjoyed it and found it helpful. They also have a pool, a steam room and used to have jacuzzi. The jacuzzi unfortunately stopped working but still I think overall the price is very reasonable and you get a lot for what you pay

Negative experience: I’ve been going to this gym for a while now and a lot of the equipment is broken and facilities out of order. The other week they simply turned off the water fountain and put a sign saying we were allowed to buy water at reception. Reception staff are on their phones or having mini discussions the whole time so it feels like you are inconveniencing them just going to the gym. Having left my number for a manager to ring me back around these issues 3 weeks ago they haven’t rung back. These guys do the basics very poorly.

Negative experience: Absolutely heaving, can't work out at all, this is at 20:10, they are Still pushing for more members, complete lack of respect for people who want to work out and go home

Negative experience: Expensive membership, tired equipment that’s often broken, when it’s not broken there’s still not enough to go around. 10x better gyms in the area for half the price. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful and always able to answer my questions. Very clean, lockers always available. I am always able to use the equipment that I want in the gym, the children love the swimming pool.

Negative experience: I went to the Everlast in branksome, Poole to enquire into membership. I had my 6 yr old son with me who was busting for the loo. I asked the receptionist if he could go to the toilet and was turned away because it wasn’t a “public” toilet. Needless, to say we won’t be joining the gym

Positive experience: Unfortunately the jacuzzi is rarely open. There's always different reasons or excuses for this. Sometimes the pool is shut too. Unacceptable when people are paying for this service. There was a rime the jacuzzi was shut every time I went there for about 6 weeks. The staff are lovely and i feel for them having to explain the excuses away all the time. If the stars were just for staff there would be 5 but with the problems in pool amd jacuzzi i have to rate 3.

Positive experience: Good gym, great facilities inside. The jacuzzi is indeed still out of order as multiple reviews have mentioned. The mens changing rooms need a tad bit of touch up but overall a good gym. Good swimming pool and a working sauna. Value for money.
