The Fitness Works Gym

Negative experience: The woman who own this gym called esta charles is a really nasty woman. Everybody that I know who has trained and even worked at this gym has some right horror stories about her. She is very manipulative and abusive and doesn't mind overcharging peoples memberships and never returning the money. She has tried it on with a few people that I know, some as young as 18 which is crazy because she's in her 40's! I would never recommend this gym to anyone. The membership is too expensive for what the gym is anyway.

Fantastic experience: lovely vibe, equipment usually free and nice owners :)

Negative experience: Worst gym going, dont sign up unless you want your money stolen. Avoid at all costs, stinky gym.

Negative experience: first of all: the fitness works does not have a good membership system. they do not actively look at memberships which leads to overcharging often, they do not fix these mistakes either. secondly: there are select rude members of staff which leads to this overcharging and underperformance of the fitness works, they attempt to help the community in order to get more members but the bottom line is this is not a good gym for the customer. finally, the equipment is heavily lacking, there is one squat rack, one flat bench, and one set of cables, i often find myself having to swap exercises or even days to fit what is available in the gym. if you are looking for a gym tusk fitness is a much better choice locally, or further away pure gym is a good fit

Negative experience: Don’t get a membership here and definitely don’t agree to a direct debit with this place unless you want to be stolen from and then refused a membership or refund. Terrible gym and a select few rude staff members. Avoid at all costs, anywhere else is a better choice.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t risk buying a membership. As of right now, I have been double charged twice by this gym and am yet to even receive the membership that I was charged twice for at the start of the month. Unless you want to risk paying £77 and then being refused a refund or even a membership I would avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant gym, all you need from classes to work out equipment. Nothing is ever too much for the staff and everything they do for is with a smile. Can not recommended anymore highly

Fantastic experience: Small local gym, very well presented especially at this time with plenty of cleaning stations. Booking system so as not to have lots of members in at any one time. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also the added bonus of having a little coffee shop selling locally sourced coffee, tea and produce. Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Avoid avoid avoid! Arrogant staff and the most dirty and filthy gym I have ever visited in my life! Mould on a lot of the equipment and a terrible smell as soon as you walk in, PureGym is cheaper per month and also much better quality! I’d avoid this gym at all costs

Negative experience: Worst gym I’ve ever been to. Really poor facilities, hardly any equipment, floors aren’t level... Nearly broke my leg trying to get out of a rusted up hamstring curl machine. Don’t wast your money going to this joke of a gym.

Negative experience: Appalled by the way treated by Jason and his colleagues. Cancelled with David Lloyd's recently and started with Central Fitness in hope for a less forced contract. Upon signing up for the 12 month contract, I asked the guy signing me up whether i would be able to cancel my contract if i needed to and I was informed i could for a small fee. Roughly 2 months after signing up, I moved away from Countesthorpe so decided to cancel my membership, expecting a 'small fee'. I called at the end of August in order to do so and the chap on the other end of the phone simply asked for my name and said "I'll get that done for you". I was taken aback by how easy that was and carried on with my day. On the 17th of September I called up to make sure my membership had been cancelled, just for peace of mind. Only to find out that it had not yet been cancelled and I had to E-mail a guy called Jason in order to get this done. Despite the inconvenience, I was still willing to do this and thought 'Ah i knew it was too easy the first time' So the same day, i sent Jason an E-mail over to the advised address. Now, it's the second of October and I've just been rudely hung up on by Jason after being told that i can not cancel my membership as I am tied in to a 12 month contract. I was also informed he did not receive my first email so i sent the exact same e-mail to the exact same address and would you believe it, it went through. He received whilst on the phone to me. Whilst writing this, i'm doing my best to remain well-spoken but to be honest, i'm completely disgusted at the way this has played out. And at the end of the day, it results in my last £25 being pulled out of my account every month, for a gym that i can't go to, because i was mis-informed about contractual obligations. Disgusting. would give a zero star if i could.
