Bannatyne Health Club Orpington

Positive experience: Me and my wife got gifted red letter days voucher for 30 mins with a bit of head, back and feet massage. However we decided to upgrade to hot stone massage as we have never experienced it for £12 extra each and as it was our first time it was really good and relaxing so I cannot compare to anything else yet. The place is a little bit rundown and the reception girls could smile a little and be more welcoming but the girls at the spa/therapy section were really nice and welcoming.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing spa! i booked for a facial and swedish leg massage. The leg massage was as good as my 5 year old rubbing oil on my legs… the therapist didn’t even asked me to turn over to massage the legs from back! It just felt rushed and disinterested. the facial was very superficial as well… didnt even end with a face mask as someone would expect as part of the facial! would never come back! totally worthless.

Negative experience: The gym is very good. The cafe is a total waste of time , your leave there feeling more hungry than when you went . They were hot and flustered today cos they had to cook some breakfasts . Ain’t that the point of a cafe ? Toilets and changing room generally dirty.

Fantastic experience: Went here for a spa day as a couple . Full use of the pool spa sauna and steam room . Had a full body massage . The whole experience was really relaxing the team in the spa just finished the day off for us

Positive experience: I had a spa day here which was...ok. The building is very old and looks shabby. The massage was ok but very generic, more relaxation than working out any knots etc. The cafe was understaffed which led to long wait times and incorrect orders. I don't think I'd visit again.

Positive experience: The place is very small and is not well managed, a bit dirty and some of the equipment doesn't work. The staff is friendly and helpful. The place need an upgrade .

Positive experience: Had a really lovely visit with my mum today. We were gifted a spa day for 2 with 2 treatments. We both had the facial with hand, feet and arm massage. And added in a Swedish back massage for an extra £28. The Elemis spa has a more luxurious feel compared to the rest of the health center. The heated stone beds in the relaxation room were a nice treat. The staff were all very friendly and were informed and professional and we both agreed that the massage and facials were fantastic. The £10 charge for a towel, robe and flip flops does seem a bit high. But the option is there to bring your own so it’s an avoidable charge if you want to keep the cost of the day down. The only thing which I felt compromised the experience was the lack of choice/availability of food options in the cafe. Lots of processed and packaged cakes/protein bars instead of fresh pastries which is what is suggested in the screens behind the til. That may be due to the lack of demand, or maybe we just went in at the wrong time. The staff were helpful and friendly so it’s not a complaint.. just an observation. Overall we thought it was good value for money and would go back again.

Negative experience: Robes are worn out stained and grey. Treatment was booked for 0900, room was freezing, towels in rooms were damp and cold which we had to lay on. Staff turned on heating but room remained cold and so did the staff hands giving the massage! Lunch was disgusting and arrived late. Pre ordered for 1200 arrived at 1215 incorrect order and had to be returned. Second attempt arrived at 1225. Had ordered a bacon, chicken & avocado sandwich. Received 3 slices of burnt toast (no spread), a slab of dry chicken, burnt bacon and teaspoon of avocado. Ruined my sister's birthday present of a spa day.

Negative experience: Dreadful spa experience. I’ve never been to a spa day where you don’t get given a towel at least! You had to pay for these and they were small - bath towel rather than a sheet. The receptionist was miserably, actually to be honest nearly every member of staff on there was miserable and or rude. I echo what other reviews have said about it having the feeling of a run down leisure centre, not a luxury spa. The floors were cold and grubby and you needed flip flops or slippers on all the time. The toilets smelled and the steam room really smelled, it was like you could taste it. The cafe was dingy, cold and run by the most miserable woman you could imagine who can’t even poach an egg- it was boiled eggs on toast. We tried 3 tables before we got a clean one and it had to be away from the door because of the draft. The only positive thing was my treatments, the ladies in the spa were super friendly and did a good job, although I feel they cut it slightly short. But all in all, not an experience I would do again or recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: spa is clean, modern Therapists attentive and excellent skills, Elemis products is a fab bonus! .. had a nice light lunch and Starbucks coffee. Had a lovely dip in Jacuzzi, all staff very helpful. Overall fantastic day with our wowcher great value and will be back!

Fantastic experience: The service here is great, but the girls in the spa do fantastic massage it's my 3rd time here for massage and I'm never disappointed, today we had a couples massage only 20mins because there wasn't enough time to add on more time but I'm telling you it was still fantastic. Todays theaspest were kira and keira Thank you very much I also wanted to add how hard working Sian was in the women's changing room making sure everything was nice and clean great Job Thank you

Negative experience: Had a “spa day voucher”. It is a rip off. Having to pay to use towels is so EasyJet. The reception is like a run down local authority swimming pool. The cafe was the same - like a grubby canteen put together as cheaply as possible. The changing rooms smell of toilets/drains. Had to ask for loo roll to wipe someone else’ wee off the seat and eventually someone put some in. I booked the treatments to coincide with the water aerobics so we could use the spa and pool after but there was another class in there so it was like a really terrible disco/butlins so not appealing or relaxing at all spent straight home.

Negative experience: The worst spa experience I’ve ever had, the staff were rude, unfriendly and unhelpful from start to finish. The receptionist was unbelievably unprofessional and cold, the spa treatments were cut short and also made us feel like we were an inconvenience, the incorrect treatment was given despite confirming the change via email. No communication throughout and the information on the form was ignored. The facilities were also horrible, dirty and very busy, which wasn’t helped by one of the two jacuzzis being closed. The towel (which came at an extra charge) was old and unclean. We left early and won’t ever return. Incredibly disappointed.

Negative experience: Overall a bad experience. As soon as I walked to the changing rooms all I could smell were the toilets. Even poolside the smell of stagnant urine was strong. Extra charge for towel and robe which I think is ridiculous. Was told I couldn’t use my phone poolside which was unfortunate as I needed to listen to music or something to drown out the awful sound of banging. The treatments were lovely, I had Molly and she was very kind. Gave an excellent massage and facial. Was the only good thing about my visit. Was in the pool only five minutes before being told I could no longer use it due to an aerobics class that I was not made aware of! Went into the steam room and surprise surprise it stinks of toilets. The shower cubicles are just frosted glass with no locks on the doors! So not only can everyone else in the changing room see you showering they could just walk in to the cubicle whilst you’re in there! Hair dryers are useless. Safe to say I left in a hurry and will not be returning. Thought this was supposed to be a luxury facility, but it’s even more run down than my local leisure centre.

Negative experience: Worst spa i ever been to. Staff are rude and not helpful. Waste of money

Negative experience: Last place I would ever want to be a member of again unfortunately, with having huge changes in my life I needed my membership frozen, with the staff failing to check emails or even answer the phone calls, I began getting in arrears with my payments. Only to be penalised for struggling with payments, penalised for having mental health issues, and made to feel like I should be ashamed to be struggling. No options for payment plans, no options for help, and certainly no support what so ever, other than to be told to borrow the money from elsewhere. Such a poor excuse of a health & fitness establishment, which is suppose to promote good health, wether that is physically or mentally.

Negative experience: No nicer than Walnuts Orpington, not very "luxury". Staff also unhelpful and rude, extremely pricey for the experience.

Negative experience: I urge everyone to realise the ‘Good reviews’ are totally fake!! Had a member tell me today that they got special discounts in the cafè to name drop on the reviews due to lack of business. The gym is disgusting, jacuzzi is too cold, sauna is grimy and mouldy. This is more of a Social club for the staff who stand around chatting whilst the whole place is falling to bits. The Manager of this Bannatyne ignored me when I told him there was floating feaces in the pool and quickly got the cleaning staff to try to hide it. Vile.

Positive experience: I came to the Club this Evening with my Girlfriend, I have been a member for more than 1 year. I personally cannot complain, I joined Bannatyne Originally as it is one of the most reasonably priced health clubs I have come across locally, after leaving a Gym and Swim leisure centre. The Staff are very helpful, in Particular Allum Dempsey, he has been very professional with a high level of customer service and he is a fair and reasonable guy. A lot of members complain about all sorts, for Instance the Sauna some say too cold, some say too hot. However, my outlook is that you cannot please everybody but that doesn’t mean that this is the clubs fault. To be able to have the privilege to even afford the membership and Focus on my Health I am Grateful and Consider myself Lucky. The Club additionally has Spa treatment's that leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Many thanks to all the staff at Bannatyne Orpington.

Positive experience: I can't say that bannatyne is as good as it used to be. Especially the spa and pool area. The staff cleans the pool at about 8-9 pm (when everybody is still swimming and chilling) with very loud machines so you can't relax after your working day and enjoy the spa. The classes sometimes are not what you would expect from their names. The staff is ok but overall the club has reduced the service standards. I've been a member for about 12 years when it even was LA fairness and a few years ago it was much better. Hope they will improve the services and regain the level they used to have.

Fantastic experience: Bannatyne is amazing. Happy staff are always there to help you . The equipment at the gym is always in good condition and a working friendly environment. Sherry, the cleaning lady, does an amazing job work very hard. I have never had such amazing hard-working fitness instructors and been to other gyms but never come across instructors like this they help you when you're in need, gain your confidence. Hanna Taylar is fitness instructor never have i come across such a strong person that makes you feel so much better also Nadine Tchaho she is amazing as well so much hard work they have put into there fitness to be so spot on. The manager Micheal brilliant and other members of staff, Teddy and George. Love em all, thank you, Bannatyne ❤️

Fantastic experience: Hannah the instructor has really helped me massively and pushed me hard to achieve all my goals I do all of her classes. Nadine the instructor has given me the confidence to trained as a body balance teacher. Both of them make me look forward to coming in. Kai is always y greeting us with a smile and always so helpful. Teddy is always helpful too. I love this gym and all the improvements I have achieved thanks to all the instructors I train with.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience for couples. Katie and Sophie did our back massage and facial, they explained everything and made us feel so comfortable. We both felt so relaxed but well massaged in the same time. The room was so beautiful and music so soothing. We loved relaxing area with heated beds as well. Overall we will definitely recommend and we will be back. Thank you Ladies!

Positive experience: The reviews almost put me off going but I had a wowcher which was given to me as a birthday present and this is the nearest location so I thought might as well do it and I'm glad I did. Apart from a little uncertainty about what to do and where to go when I got there, it was a really nice treat. I had booked a Swedish back, neck and shoulders massage but the massage therapist, Keira, let me know all upgrades were 50% off that day so I upgraded to deep tissue for £6. After reading the reviews, I brought my own towel and flip flops but the towels used during the massage (to lay on and cover myself) were nice. I had to fill in a health questionnaire before starting my massage but that's only because I missed the 2 check in emails they sent me. I got a call the day before my treatment to confirm I was still going ahead with it so maybe that sound have been a good chance for a heads up about the emails. After my massage I used the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi then went to see what products were available in the salon as I had a £10 off voucher. One of the therapist (sorry, can't remember her name) helped me choose a cleansing balm which I have been using for a week and it's great. She explained how I could create a skin care routine and said I could email them at any time if I had any questions. I then went to shower - the shower gel provided is quite nice - and as my voucher included a cream tea, I went to the cafe. There was a little mix up with my scone but they couldn't have been more apologetic so I got a caramelised biscuit cake instead as I wanted to leave at a certain time and I would have had to wait 20 mins for the scone to be made. So overall it was good and I think if someone had explained to me what to expect and what I had access to with my wowcher, I would have got my locker wristband straightaway instead of having to come back out of the changing room to go to reception and ask for one and possibly someone would have seen that a cream tea needed to be made. I would go again though.

Negative experience: We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the robes. We paid for clean robes and flip flops, yet the robes provided were clearly used by someone else. This is extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. Additionally, the session felt much shorter than expected, leaving us unsatisfied with the overall experience

Fantastic experience: APOLOGIES - THIS REFERS TO THE GROVE PARK BANNATYNE, NOT ORPINGTON. I ENJOY MY VISITS TO ORPINGTON BANNATYNE. Average gym and unfortunately not worth the fee. I've joined this gym twice due to the location suiting me and the ability to uses other clubs. I use the Orpington one and it is a better. Shower and changing areas are dirty, broken and smell. This has been the same for about 5 years. Some shower cubicles have been out of action for years! Staff however are extremely nice and friendly. Car park during the winter is awful as it is poorly lit...hard to see where you are putting your feet sometimes...though this has improved a bit, recently. Apologies for the bad review, but money need to be spent on the facilities here to improve conditions for members. I will add photos on my next visit.

Negative experience: Laughably bad unfortunately. Lovely staff in the cafe and the therapists in the spa team were nice enough. Booked through Wowcher, will never again! Only got 10 minutes of massage when advertised as 40; assuming the time taken to fill out the paperwork was taken out of that time? The afternoon tea wasn't provided as they were short staffed. Dont bother booking a spa package here, it is leisure centre and not a glorified one at that

Negative experience: Been trying to call them for the last hour and a half! They don’t answer!!! When I tried calling near to their closing time, they tried to hang up because they were finishing their shift! Absolutely rubbish service.

Negative experience: Don’t usually leave reviews but I simply have to. I witnessed the manager (I believe this man’s name is Micheal) being extremely unprofessional and rude to the receptionist who was working when I went in for a spa day with my wife. I made a joke and said he seems unhappy and the person on reception said he always acts this way. I am truly disgusted with the way he treats staff. The facilities were not clean, mould in the showers and stunk of sewage. The cafe was understaffed but polite woman serving the food we ordered was not in stock. We opted for a jacket potato in the end which was tiny and over priced. The spa treatment itself was ok, only one jacuzzi was open which was over crowded, same as the Sauna and steam room it was bodies on top of bodies. Duncan Bannatyne should feel ashamed of himself!

Positive experience: Good gym, changing rooms need abit of a face lift and a good clean.. most of the showers dont work properly (cant change temp) and there's mould on the ceilings

Negative experience: This place has really gone downhill, i have been here several times over the last few years and each visit gets worse and worse. When it opened the facilities were fantastic, now they look like they haven't been cleaned. Loads of people using the facilities, for lunch they had run out of the basics and the bamboo massage was just being lightly rolled with a stick - I wouldn't call that a massage.

Negative experience: Can't believe how rude and unprofessional the staff are, plus of course you have to hire basics such as a robe/towel and slippers!! No wonder Duncan Bannatyne is a millionaire. He should take more pride in his business brand. Bet he doesn't even read the comments. Quite shocking really!!!

Fantastic experience: Visited for the first time. Used a virgin experience voucher. Can honestly say we were not disappointed. Service was amazing. Staff so were so friendly. The service in the Spa was amazing. Made to feel so at ease and relaxed. I cannot recommend this enough. Such a fantastic experience. We were allowed to use the facilities for the rest of the day. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Treated to a spa day. It wasn't a good experience. Changing rooms and toilets were dirty and run down. Refurb is needed. Ridiculous that you need to pay extra for a robe and slippers that should be provided as part of any spa day. Nowhere to sit and relax. Jacuzzi is tiny and was too busy to use. Cafe. Is very average. Massage was good and nice relaxation room but we were hurried out of the spa area after our treatments so we weren't able to return to the relaxation room. No water offered after treatment. Staff are not very professional. Just like a day at the local leisure centre. Not special at all. I wouldn't recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Booked a spa day through Woucher at a great discounted offer. Apart from departing the whole day was wonderful, using the jacuzzi, sauna, steam abd swimming pool were delightful in-between there were beds to rest. This followed by having a shower hairdryers available in the changing rooms. I then had my 3 treatments which were great, and very relaxing. The therapists were very polite and professional. After the treatment my friend and I went back to their lovely cafe, which served a small selection of sandwiches, toasties, soups, eggs on toast, crisps, hot and cold beverages, smoothies and small selection of chilled chocolate bars. The service in this cafe was amazing, the lady serving was all alone on the day visited, she was polite very busy, serving beverages, cooking food and still managed to smile at every customer and thanked them for being patient. This lady was definitely a good assest for Banbatyne in Orpington. We were able to hire a goody bag which included a robe, towel and pair of flip flops, which came in a bag for £10 plus a £10 deposit, much better than having to bring your own when you have much more important things to take with you. I had a very relaxing day and staff were very helpful, polite and professional. If your looking for a few hours of relaxation book yourself onto this spa day and make sure you make time to visit the cafe. Enjoy!!

Negative experience: Poor management, poor cafe, the receptionist have no idea what they should do, there a baby size jacuzzi which is outdoor! You imagine in the rainy weather of UK , outdoor jacuzzi which only takes 3 people in. The pool water is dirty

Positive experience: Good parking. The gym is quite cramped but well equipped and the atmosphere friendly. The swimming pool is small and partially used for lessons, which means it can be difficult to have a swim if there are a few people just wanting to enjoy bobbing around. The stream room and sauna are nice but can get busy. All in all a good setup with a nice lounge/dinning area.

Positive experience: Had a wonderful spa day last weekend with my friend. Everything was clean and tidy, cafe was great and there is so much space. Loads of room by the pool, outdoor jacuzzi and changing rooms. There are outside areas for the cafe and spa area which was so lovely on a warm, sunny day. Facilities are a little dated but didn't put us off at all. The staff were all super friendly. From the reception to the cafe and especially the staff in the spa area. We had treatments with Katie and Lily. The message I had was superb. Lily was helpful, informative and knows her stuff. Thanks for a lovely, relaxing day.

Negative experience: This feels like a local leisure centre instead of a luxury club. The shower and toilet facilities are dirty and in need of maintenance. The changing rooms are old and need renewal. The cafe has very limited options and was closed the last time I was there. The staff at the front desk don't really provide much information or directions if you are here on a spa day. All the classes always seem to be booked up but I've never seen anyone coming in or out of a class. The gym is very basic and the outdoor area has fake grass and mosquitos. There was lots of food and drink leftovers around the hot tub last time, and the hot tub can only comfortably fit two people in so people mark their territory, typically old geeza's. This place definitely attracts men with wondering eyes as I've witnessed men chatting up young girls here and experienced it myself also. My recent treatment started late and the time was not made up at the end. I didn't get the additional 20 minutes that I had paid for my package so only got a back scrub and facial, the facial stung a bit on my sensitive skin. The sauna was not open last time and the jet showers do not work. There's also really limited signal/WiFi and it's a bumpy drive so I just wouldn't call this a relaxing experience. I found the whole thing quite stressful and staff didn't have any answers regarding the package which did not add up to what was advertised online. Oh and a child tried to climb over the fence last time and he climbed into the adults only hot tub which didn't look very safe or supervised. There isn't a lifeguard here either. It didn't feel very safe or like a nice place to work.

Negative experience: Awful experience booked 2 days worth of spa days on summer sale they cancelled took £64 of my money no number that works to contact head office to get it refunded very upset emailed them but told could be up to 21 days to recieve response or refund.Furious and very stressed.

Fantastic experience: Staff are amazing.. friendly, helpful and professional, especially Harry from the café, goes above and beyond! We had a Groupon including lunch, a treatment and use of the facilities: Lunch was lovely, I had soup which was delicious, the pool area is clean and spacious - sauna was a great temperature, however one bench was broken.. but as it was midweek it wasn't busy so didn't effect me. And outdoor jacuzzi was nice.. even though it was drizzly lol Finally the treatment.. fabulous !! I had a Himalayan salt rock stone massage and added a foot and hair mask with the lovely Zara, she's wonderful ! She knew exactly what she was doing and I left feeling very zen ! Also great changing area, very spacious and nice showers.. Would thoroughly recommend

Negative experience: The most low class and low level spa I’ve ever experienced in my life. I go to spa and sports centres a lot. I went to the best ones in the world and for this one we bought a voucher to relax a day but it only ruined our day. everything was rubbish. Staff were so confused and had no idea how to treat customers. the Jacuzzi was out of order and its size was mostly for babies. The sauna was too busy that you couldn’t stay in, the coffee shop was awful, the cake and scone were dry and old. even when we raised the complaint they denied to accept. it was just waste of money and they have no idea what they are doing. I’m really sorry for the people of Orpington to tolerate such a rubbish place.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely spa day here. Hot stone massage was really good, we upgraded our treatment which was supposed to be a massage. Upgrades were on special offer. Enjoyed using the pool, steam room and jacuzzi. Lunch was decent enough and the coffee served here is Starbucks, lady serving was really polite and friendly. Would recommend really good value for money.

Negative experience: Treatment I had was lovely and relaxing, However for a Saturday don't think there was enough staff to show ppl round , me and a friend went for a spa day it was our first time , however had to find everything ourselves Also wanted to use the swimming pool, but an aerobics class was beeing held in it , and we could not use the pool , I was not notified of this and think I should of been If I was to have a spa day again I would not use Bannatyne spa

Negative experience: Gone down hill! I’ve been to this location a couple of times. The first couple times I went I loved it, but today was abit of a disappointment. There was no hot water in the building so the showers were freezing cold, the hired robes smelled funky, i paid £60 for 2 treatments the back, neck and shoulder massage I got was ok but could just about feel it and my back is still hurting then I had a facial that was nice but the hot cloth used smelt like cheesy feet.

Fantastic experience: This site has Great facilities with a range a range of treatment choices, as well as Very poilte staff and a great cafe. It can get a little busy and loud at time but that is due to the great service and high demand at this facility. We would also like to say a massive thank you to Ozlem and Lucy for giving us the most amazing Massage! I had this booked for my Nans birthday and they were amazing and catered for both of our preference. Ozlem made me feel extremely relaxed and destress was definatley the best experience I have had so far. Extremely polite and professional ladies!!

Negative experience: Really gone down hill…. Not sure where to start but I’ll try and summarise my thoughts - been a member for about 6 years or so, my membership fee went up 3 times in the past year despite the club getting worse, there is always something broken cold showers, 1 hot tub, no showers, freezing pool, broken sauna.. I could go on and on… I’m an avid yoga goer so only really go to those classes and for a swim but both yoga classes I attended (weds eve and Sunday morning) have been removed from the schedule.. meaning there is now zero yoga classes in the evening.. I’ve complained several times over the years about different things and never once have I been offered any compensation - the staff attitude is like it or lump it and they really do not care at all for their members. They’d rather lose two members and subsequent membership fees then give back a little to help compensate for the lack of service provided. You can only take your children there in a 2 window of a day yet still want to charge you extortionate fees for this pleasure… had it not been for the spa facilities, I would have left a long time ago..if you are thinking about joining, don’t…

Fantastic experience: Took advantage of 2 week trial offer. Great facilities but unfortunately no location close to me in Scotland and not sure I'd pay the money for membership

Negative experience: I would have given it no stars, but u r not able to do that ! Turned up for a yoga class for 6pm, told at 6pm no class as no teacher ! Class area was full, nobody told beforehand and not note outside the door. Nobody at tye desk as we left to talk too, all disappeared ! Disgusting the way we have bern treated !

Negative experience: We booked a spa day and were quite disappointed. Not enough seating, noisy pool area and under resourced cafe. If you are looking for a relaxing spa, this is not it.

I had this booked for my partners birthday and they did not disappoint. Kira made me feel extremely relaxed and distressed and OZLEM’s hands were excellently soothing. Extremely polite and professional ladies!!

Positive experience: Massage was nice. The facility can be cleaner however and painted. It looked dusty with worn out paint. Bathroom can look better and more enticing. Just do it properly

Negative experience: The beauty therapist came across quite rude, firstly I ordered a full body massage and then an extra leg massage because I enjoy a 90 min massage, I was told that I was not allowed to recieve this even though the site allowed me to book it, when I asked for a quite firm pressure for my Swedish I was told because I ordered a Swedish this meant the pressure was soft to medium and I could get a deep tissue for extra money but when I booked using my voucher deep tissue was an option at no extra charge. I felt like I paid alot of money just to be told what I could not recieve, the pressure of massage was so soft that I don't even feel like I got a massage!

Positive experience: Booked a Spa Day package for me and my other half. The facilities are good, especially if you are a member as there are alot of things included in a membership. However, the spa day package clearly wasn't organised well between Wowcher and Bannatynes as we didn't receive half of what was included in the package. Staff at Bannatyne's were friendly, just would have been better if we got what was sold in the package.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I had a voucher to use and got a 25 minute Swedish massage which included back, shoulders and neck. The massage was extremely relaxing and thorough. It was great to be in the room together, the spa, temperature and service from the masseurs were fantastic. Thank you. We then used the Spa facilities which were fantastic, loved the fact the hot tubs were outside!

Negative experience: Run down and drab. Like a glorified leisure centre. Went in for a day as a couple to have a number of pre-booked treatments. Was told as we were driving to the place that only one of us could have treatments but no offer of refund. Good sized pool with a good steam room, small sauna, only one of the hot tubs was working. Do not book for a relaxing spa day.

Negative experience: OMG the worst spa day I have ever had. The place is dirty and disgusting, the pool is cold, it’s not a nice restaurant it’s a basic cafe and today there not actually serving any food!! Couldn’t get a drink and when I complained to reception they didn’t acknowledge it!! Never go here it’s terrible

Negative experience: I'm very disappointed. I was frustrated with facial. I didn't get properly masage and was clear she wasn't happy doing. My 7 years brother do better. Also the sauna was very crowned. Lawful

Negative experience: Was gifted a spa for two experience and was hoping for a luxurious day. Decided to hire the Towels and Robes but these were crunchy/crusty, the robes were one size and either need a ton of conditioning or replacing as definitely need updating. Very limited space to chill out, only a handful of chairs and beds poolside. The relaxation room just prior to our treatment was the best part warm stone beds with mood lighting, treatment room was cold, again the towels were crunchy and the blankets definitely not soft and plush. All in all I won't be recommending the Orpington spa and generally really disappointing.

Positive experience: Massage was lovely but the “spa” isn’t that great. Women’s changing area absolutely stunk of sewage. Very small pool with extremely limited seats in fact I think there is only about 5 seats around the pool but when I attended over 20 people using the facilities. Relaxation room is okay both jacuzzi’s are outside and pleasant. Wouldn’t waste money on a spa day here though not much on offer it’s basically a bog standard gym more than a spa

Positive experience: Lovely amenities. Had a full body massage and lava shells massage on the back for my birthday. which was done by Molly. She’s very attentive and friendly. 4 starts as the hot tubs are outside. Thank you

Negative experience: I paid for an hour of full body massage, instead I got only 45 minutes. I am not sure the lady knows what a full body massage is. She didn’t touch my feet and my decoltee. The massage was superficial and very quick. I had massages here before and they were amazing, in one hour I used to get a full body massage and head massage too. This time it lasted only 45 minutes ( and that included with time in and out and all the recommendations ) the masseuse seemed to be tired and not too professional. Worst experience ever. Also the bed towels were oil stained which makes me think they haven’t changed the towels from the previous client.

Positive experience: Positives: Overall a lovely experience, treatment was really relaxing and the massage therapist was very professional. The staff overall were very polite. We had a lovely time Relaxation room was really nice and the staff accommodated my needs. Negatives: The facility generally does need an uplift. It has lots of lovely features but just needs to be refurbished I guess. The treatments are good but the physical facility needs updating.

Positive experience: Value for money I thought. Facial and massage were good. I had a spa day voucher and left there feeling very relaxed. Facilities are decent. Not too sure about the loud music poolside tho. Otherwise I was content

Positive experience: Save your money for a better spa day. We went on a quiet day in January. If it had been busy we would have been wasting our time waiting to use the facilities. Which were a bit run down. Admittedly I only paid £80 and wasn’t expecting much. But I was glad I read the reviews and knew it probably wasn’t going to be great. The treatment and the relaxation room were nice. The hot tubs are small and were busy as was the steam room and there weren’t a lot of people there. I can imagine on a busier day we would have been waiting and getting frustrated. There was only one private cubicle in the changing area. The place felt a bit run down. I’d recommend spending more on a more luxurious chain like rowhill grange or if you can get it instead use a day pass for David Lloyd Dartford which I think is better (not sure if you can get treatments there though and they don’t sell spa days)!

Negative experience: Im trying to cancel my gym telling them about bullies those people don't care about safety of other peoples life this all they want there money and there Is no staff in the gym to help you out nasty service

Positive experience: My friend and I had a lovely spa day here, which included treatments and access to the health club's facilities. All staff we came into contact with were lovely. The reception staff in particular (Leah x 2) were both super friendly, chatty and welcoming. The spa manager who did our treatments was also great and we thoroughly enjoyed our massages! The food was also nice. Would visit again!

Negative experience: The worst ‘Spa day’ experience I’ve ever had. Loud music from aerobics classes blaring through every space, nowhere calm or quiet to relax, so full of people there wasn’t space in the sauna, hot tub or steam room. Showers and lockers broken or not working. Dirty (when I put my white towel on the floor, it came back marked brown with dirt). They charge £8 for the use of towels or robes on top of the spa day package price, yet they couldn’t provide a robe big enough to fit me (5’4, size 18) god knows what they provide for big rugby player men!

Negative experience: Its absolutely impossible to reach this place by phone. You can ring and ring and there is no answer. Ever. One star is too much. I tried to use a voucher purchased via 'buyagift' and its not possible to reedem a voucher to book a treatment for 2 people (their system shows slots available only for one person, which is kind of against the voucher's purpose as its for 2 people - of enjoying it with someone else). Very disappointed with this place and their booking system , as well as ability to contact them on the phone

Negative experience: The place is rubbish. They charge you for a bag, slippers and to rent a towel and robe and they don’t have the sizes or the bags are unavailable but still charge full price. Staff look bored to death also. Robes are stained and rough

Negative experience: I would give half star if I had a choice. I went there for a spa day - it was a expensive voucher I got for my birthday. Massage meant to be one and half hours it was only lasted 1 hour 10 mins. And I would say that was the worst massage experience I have had. The therapist was lazy to put any effort. She just put oil on my body and then wipe it off. For my face, she put serum on my face and leave it for 10 mins and then repeated it 3 times. That was it. They charge you 8 pounds for robe, towel and flip flops plus deposit for a locker. I definitely would not go again.

Negative experience: Following my visit the £2 deposit for a locker wrist band is still on my card account after 8 days. My bank can't cancel it, they said I should contact Bannatyne and ask them to cancel it. The wrist band was returned and I was told my deposit was cancelled, but it's not! No one answers the phone or replies to e-mails!

Positive experience: Facilities were clean. There's a swimming pool, 2 outdoor jacuzzis, a steam room, a sauna room plus a relaxation room thats included in the general price. Food was mediocre, if u can eat elsewhere I would recommend this. I hired a bathrobe, flip-flops, towels and locker fob upon arrival, was due a refund of £10 on departure to which I was told it was processed by reception, a week later no refund on my account. Contacted their customer service and then I was refunded. Make sure you are refunded what you are owed when visiting this place!

Positive experience: We booked a deal from wowcher. We had rebook as they didn't have enough staff due to illness. The spa treatments were OK and the girls were friendly. The woman working in the cafe could be a bit more friendly but maybe she was having a bad day. Overall OK but probably wouldn't go again.

Negative experience: Disappointing Customer Service I had been a member of Bannatyne Gym for a year, and I initially enjoyed my experience. However, my recent attempt to cancel my membership has left me disappointed with their customer service. I followed the gym’s policy, giving them a full calendar month’s notice well before my 12-month contract ended. Despite my best efforts to communicate my situation, including an email explaining my predicament, I received no response from the gym. The lack of communication and cooperation in my attempt to cancel my membership has been frustrating. I believe in fairness and adherence to the terms of a contract, but extending the notice period for another month after my 12-month term has ended seems unreasonable. The gym’s lack of response has left me with no other option but to express my dissatisfaction through this review. I hope others will consider their customer service policies and the potential challenges they may face when trying to cancel their memberships. My intention was always to resolve this matter amicably, but it’s unfortunate that my concerns have gone unaddressed.

Fantastic experience: Visited for a spa day and also had a tour of the gym facilities. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful and the spa facilities were fabulous and also beautifully clean. I particularly enjoyed the relaxation room and the steam room. Over all I would highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic experience: Great value for money - spa therapists friendly and attentive, food was as expected, pool facilities busy but everyone was friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Will be back

Positive experience: I liked my sessions at Bannatyne, the massage by Lauryn was great, she was nice, detailed and patient with the explanations of treatments. However the hygiene of the pool is worrying. There was an unpleasant smell when I walked in, and got used to it after a few minutes. Packed resting chairs and jacuzzi on a Monday noon time. Cafe is good however staff was on a break and wasn’t picking up order straight away. Need more time urgency. Alex at the front desk was attentive, explained things very well to a first time comer. Staff quality varies here. Mostly welcoming and very keen to put on a happy face. I hope everyone is enjoying their work as well as offering good customer service. A large free parking for customers. A little difficult if you don’t drive.

Positive experience: We came here with our spa voucher from a friend. The facial I had was great actually but wish it was longer. The actual spa facilities were ok. The pool sauna and steam were ok very busy though. The hot tubs were very small and busy. The changing rooms were well sized, however would’ve been good if they provided towels for free rather than a charge. The cafe wasn’t great, service was very slow and they ignored the tap water request several times. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend coming here until you’re getting a treatment.

Positive experience: Staff sickness needed us to rebook which we were not happy about as it is a long way from our home and it was a Buyagift voucher which did not offer a spa nearer to us. The treatment was punctual and lovely + jacuzzi, and Steam room and sauna were as standard but nice.

Positive experience: From the outside, the building has seen better days but upon arrival the club is nicely laid out, friendly and helpful staff throughout. The gym is decent, a little scattered for equipment but is a good size for informal use. Treatments were super and the relaxation room was wonderful. A good size pool, shame it was so cold. As a spa day, 8/10.

Negative experience: I went today for a voucher treatment and it was really good. I can’t remember the name of the girl but she was lovely and calm, it was a great massage and she really took care of my injury too. The whole experience was a bit ruined by having to pay extra money for a locker and a towel. Obviously when you go to those type of treatments you expect to be able to leave your belongings in a safe place and to be able to have a shower after getting oils over you. I go every year for at least two massages and never before I had been charge for leaving my things in a safe place or for rinsing the oils that they used on me…In one of the other places I went they did charge as well but at least they let you know in advance, but here they don’t let you know, so they obviously trying to make some easy money taking advantage of this. Also, no sandals/flip flops were offered at any point, so it concerns me a bit the little care they have for the hygiene in that place. Locker, towel and flip flop are a must when you go to this kind of places. Is like going to a bar and charge you for using a glass for your drink or going to the barbers and telling you that charges you for rinsing all the hairs left… ridiculous. The girls of the massage were fantastic.

Negative experience: worst spa and gym ever more like a gossip social club theres a women goes by the name (saff) dark curly hair slim build she is a bully there with narrcacistic behaviour and is there everday doesnt work lol she thinks she owns the place very rude ignorant humban being with no mannors for herself or others AVOID.

Positive experience: My family and I went as a treat for my 60th birthday. The massage was so good, but my favorite part was the relaxing lounge, which is made up of heat storing ceremics to lie on. Bannatyne Health Club also has an outdoor jacuzzi, starbucks, and swimming pool, which provides aerobic classes. It's a busy place, and the only downfall was the small jacuzzi. Not only was it a long wait to use it, but in the end, we gave up trying. I personally felt there should be two Jacuzzis to accommodate the members. Overall, it was a lovely day enjoyed by all. We purchased a bag which included dressing gown, towel and slippers. You get to keep the bag and slippers as a memorabilia. I would definitely make another trip to their facility, but try another location

Negative experience: Bannatyne Spa Day with Three Treatments - Virgin Experience Voucher Really felt this experience was a rip off. It was a Christmas gift from my husband. The voucher included 3 treatments. The treatments are spread over 40 minutes to include undressing out of robe (takes 30 seconds), consultation (which was a waste of our time as my husband’s recent surgery had already been discussed in advance on the phone that day but the therapist hadn’t been fully informed) & redressing into robe (30 seconds?). I got 25 minutes for a back massage, facial & scalp massage which only lasted 5 minutes. The therapist decided to finish 5 minutes early to phaff around noisily in the cupboards! The voucher clearly said 40 minutes worth of treatments but I appreciate you need a few minutes either side. I feel that you are better off booking one long treatment with them directly. Probably better value for a decent amount of time for a treatment The cafe was very short staffed with many items unavailable - had to ask for bread to go with the soup & orders were being given to the wrong customers! The spa itself is very nice and my husband enjoyed the gym. Date of experience: 26 August 2023

Positive experience: Been coming to this gym since start of 2023. Small but has everything I use. I give 3 stars because at times the female changing rooms are a bit smelly, the doors on the shower don't close properly, shower heads need improving, regular leaks on top floor, sometimes the staff don't give a warm welcome but overall a good gym. Think it does need a little TLC. When compared to the bannatyne up north when I visited, Orpington does need a face lift.

Positive experience: coffee shop on site, sauna, steam room, swimming pool,gym, showers lockers treatment rooms, studios, jacuzzi....selection of different massages and beuti treatments on offer staff excellent professional welcoming....relaxation room was excellent heated chairs....warm oils...place cure nails .
