Positive experience: Hired a badminton court for a couple of hours to keep the kids entertained during the holidays. The venue itself is quite nice, clean it’s conveniently located close to the underground. The only frustration was being charged to hire some really crappy racquets. And they had to scoop up spare shuttlecocks as they had none available. £10 for some racquets was as bit pricey for what you get.

Negative experience: Booked two slots and arrived to be told that the sports hall was double booked and to email someone else for a refund

Fantastic experience: Love this place

Positive experience: I do really like this gym purely because it has a ladies only section and is not so busy compared to nearby gyms. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The only thing is the gym is always SO warm, it’s sometimes impossible to complete my workout because I am over heating. The air con does work (most of the time) but it really needs upgrading to accommodate the size of the gym. It would also benefit from having a fixed temperature as currently anyone can access the air con controls.

Negative experience: Poor, only one mens shower cubicle, broken shower head, luke warm water, Sauna is permanently closed.

Fantastic experience: I take both my kids here for football on a Sunday. Coach Ahmed is absolutely amazing. My kids love him. He is very good with kids all ages. Friendly and welcoming staff. Centre is well equipped and it offers woman's only section.

Fantastic experience: My son attends football clases, he is learning a lot football, but also essential skills for life. The teacher is an amazing person who is alway there to help the children, listen to them, and motivated them. I am so happy that I found this place, where me son can play safely.

Fantastic experience: My son has football lessons here and the coach is absolutely amazing. He really enjoys he’s time here and that’s all thanks to the coach. What a admire about the coach is, his level of patience with the children - it’s admirable and amazing to see. The centre is really nice as well and has a lady section only which my wife attends.

Fantastic experience: My 10yr old goes to Football here and Ahmed is his coach! He is such a lovely coach. Always friendly, sociable and Raihan loves him! Thank you for being an amazing coach.

Fantastic experience: Very good centre overall. Good equipment, ladies only gym which is amazing! Relatively quiet centre which is also very good unlike other gyms. The staff are amazing and very helpful as always. Very nice gym to have locally.

Negative experience: Sorry to say, this sports center washroom doesn't have any hair dryer. A single poor disabled washroom is available when another 3 washroom is permanently locked.

Fantastic experience: It's local and a excellent sports centre to go to got every gym equipment, I go there 4 days a week.

Negative experience: Pre booked badminton court 1 week ago, we travelled all the way to the sports centre and got notified by the front desk staff that our booking has been cancelled because there are two bookings for the same time slot. Not sure if this is a occurring issue here but seems like the staff is familiar with this situation and having that ‘or what can I do?’ attitude telling us that they have sent us an email in advance (which is an hour before we arrive when we were on our way to the sports centre) Won’t recommend anyone booking courts with them.

Positive experience: Clean a good setup, not busy or crowded

Positive experience: I really appreciate the womens only section of the gym, I come from Hackney just for that. The changing rooms are alright, but the showers are a hit and miss so you can't plan to wash yourself there as that day you might just get cold water...

Negative experience: I rarely write reviews but I had to today because of what happened today. To be fair this review doesn't even deserve 1 star, customer service was terrible, reception staff very rude and stubborn. Usually come to play badminton with no issue but this time the receptionist was asking for £1 extra to use the court which I already paid £13.75 for. It is already extortion considering others are charging £10 for a court with no hidden fees. I've been to a few 'Better' gyms and they all seem to have different rules. Either way it doesn't make sense to pay extra for each extra person I bring when I paid for the court, why would I pay extra for the person I'm playing badminton with?? Do they expect me to hire out the court to play by myself. Honestly ridiculous. For them to make a big fuss about enforcing £1 for the one person I bought along with me speaks volumes about their customer service. Only good thing they did was refund me my money. Will not be coming back to this place again, and I hope others won't as well when there's cheaper courts available nearby with better customer service.

Negative experience: Receptionist are terrible and don't know how to deescalate situations. No rhyme or reason. 1. Turning off the neighbouring lights as we are playing as its nearer to closing. We still had 30 mins left on the court. There is absolutely no reason to do this as you can just close the lights off when our time is fininshed. 2. Allowing basketball half court and badminton on the other half. There is NO net to separate the games meaning the ball has often into our court. This is just a hazard. 3. Unreasonable receptionist that do not know the rules or know how to explain why we cannot enter. Our booker was late due to traffic, and you dont allow the rest of us to enter, are you serious??? We wasted a portion of our session that we PAID for. These things are inevitable, there needs to be some flexibility. Learn how to explain, learn how to deescalate and be reasonable and flexible. 4. Paying £1 if you dont have a membership, absolutely extortion, I don't even want to go there. Edit: One of the staff came to discuss about our first point about turning on neighbouring lights. Continued to be power tripped to tell us that we did not pay for the other courts to have the lights turned on, but how are we meant to play with low lighting?!? We can't see the shuttle. Turning on an additional row of lights for 15-30 minutes is not an unreasonable request. And honestly, who turns off the hall lights when there is a game in play? I'm just in utter shock really. I strongly urge staff at Whitechapel to learn to de-escalate and don't dramatize the situation. Too many nonsense situation to deal with, not worth my time.

Positive experience: Staff are really nice and considerate regarding male and female changing rooms etc. 1. One of my big issues is the lack of good showers, they've been ice cold many times and don't get warmer, then they're just out of order for a while. 2. My second big issue is really the timings. Honestly most people have to be at work sooner so it would be useful having 6AM starts, that one hour earlier makes a big difference. My sister and I have considered getting rid of our subscriptions because of this but thankfully at the moment we are working from home. This however is changing so 6AM starts even if it's a few days a week would be super helpful! Thanks!

Negative experience: We went to better Whitechiple for play badminton, one of your staff his name is Franchesco, he was very rude, unappreciated approach to me, he was screaming why we came early to Center. This is not first time I saw past few weeks this guy name is Franchesco very poor customer service, because of him we feel undermined to go Whitechiple better. We are like 5 friends we all feel uncomfortable. All of your other staff are friendly without Franchesco. This guy shouldn’t be there. staff on politeness and basic customer service please so customers can feel valued paying their hard earned money in your gym. Thank yo

Fantastic experience: We use the Astro pitch for weekly football and the staff are super friendly, and the pitch is always clean and well kept. Its bookings are run by an external company so unfortunately Better can’t help with any booking difficulties!

Positive experience: my review is about the football pitch, the astro ground is very soft and the quality is one of the best I have played on. there are side lines which I prefer than having a wall. the only drawback in my opinion is the short and wide goals

Negative experience: Terrible and to avoid classes at all costs! The instructor Wendy is extremely rude and doesn't make you feel confortable at all, expecially if you are not use to train. I was forced to leave the class I paid for because I refused to add more weight as I had an inguinal hernia. I am shocked never happen to me and it was the first time I was joining the class. She is clearly not properly trained and unaware of the risks that this can entail. I am disgusted by the treatment and made me feel so uncomfortable in front of eve body I think she has some problems with pluss size women or something.

Positive experience: Quite good. Own access to your own ladies gym. Spacious too, only issue is that they should apply air freshner in the changing rooms as it was smelling really bad in there.

Positive experience: A good gym with lots of equipment not so busy at the moment post lockdown,but that will change as we progress away from lockdown. Polite and respectful staff on hand to help if you need helping out with any of the facilities or equipment

Negative experience: I call the sports centre and no one picks up. This is like a regular occurence, been on hold for more than 20 minutes each time and then forced to give up.

No towels on the way in to the changing area and definitely none in the changing room and you have to pay 20p to lock the locker (which you.will not get back when you turn the key) . Poor investment in an l area that has supposedly benefitted from the 2012 Olympics

Negative experience: The new supervisor at this place is a real killjoy (a middle aged woman, long dark hair, in case you need to keep an eye out for her). She kicked us off the court even though there was nobody playing afterwards. Other centres will let you stay overtime if nobody booked the court. Total killjoy this lady. Doesn't look like she enjoyed sport ever in her life.

Positive experience: I’ve just joined and really enjoy training here. Feel some of the previous reviews are a bit unfair as for me it’s great... there is women’s only gym in the back of the the changing rooms with everything I need all size of weights and a cable machine and all cardio machines... they play good tunes everytime as well keeps training fun! My only issue is no hair dryers but that’s not a big deal... other people using this place are really friendly as well had some good chin wags in the sauna... overall pleased I chose this gym! :)

Positive experience: I was pleasantly surprised that the female changing room had been redecorate. It's now looking bright, clean and cheerful... a big difference from my hat visit 6months ago... it was very filthy then

Negative experience: One of the worst leisure centre ever. From the machine to shower everything is either out of order or really old, broken & needs replacing urgently. I honestly don't know how this leisure centre gets away with all this. They should be reported & fined or closed down permanently due to the health & safety issues posed by the broken shower & faulty machine and equipment. Does this leisure centre have a manager? If they do, he needs to be sacked immediately for being so careless and irresponsible. They are using the same abdominal workout machine for the last 25 years. It's seat is completely exhausted & rather then replacing it, they just place sellotape on the cracked area. This leisure centre is like a 3rd world corrupt country that just uses the money for its own good & spends nothing on its people. PLEASE AVOID, AVOID, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

Agree the women’s changing rooms and toilets aren’t great, but the main gym is decent enough with good equipment.

Negative experience: Upsetting policy when you decide to leave the gym as they will still get money for 2 additional months (therefore you will lose the deposit). Also, the gym forbids entry to males at specific times - sounds a bit medieval to me.

Negative experience: The automatic doors are the best thing at the gym. There are probably better gyms in North Korea

Positive experience: Was a Monday after 5 pm, so was a woman only night. Fantastic, it is usually full, however, was quite due to Ramadan. Fantastic friendly staff, working the best with what they've got. The place needs a massive financial injection, some TLC. This would see the member's rate improve, as it has dropped considerably during the last year. Hopefully when rail track go this will happen.

Negative experience: Extremely dirty and irresponsible management, still expecting my refund to be paid for 3 months, I do not think they find it important to reply emails when asked about the status of the refund. I would suggest you guys to run on the streets of whitechapel rather than signing up to remain fit.
