Fantastic experience: I joined last month and my experience has been positive so far! Good variety of equipment in different areas of the gym including a women's only gym which is a bonus. The staff are great and special mention goes to Andy, Kerris* and Emma who have all been welcoming, supportive and informative on equipment etc. *Kerris especially when I've collared her to show me how things work . Not sure if this already happens but would be good to have some group walks/hikes etc which could do for charity and also builds a sense of community.

Fantastic experience: Ethan Is one of the nicest guys at total fitness alway polite and well mannered Aways deals with me as a customer very kindly. As I suffer with mental health he's always respectful to me and my situation I appreciate his help and time. What a credit to this gym He definitely is respected by me a hundred percent. Thanks ethan for you curtesy and kindness You make coming to this gym a pleasant time.

Fantastic experience: I was initially put off by some of the reviews on here, but please do not be influenced by them and go see the facilities for yourself because this is a very very good centre. It is never too busy and there is nearly always space to swim in the main pool. The changing rooms are very clean and have a dedicated sauna. The main spa facilities are excellent (Sauna [very hot], Saunarium (not as hot), Steam room and Hydropool). The gym has everything you need for a workout, whether it is cardio, weights or bodyweight training. I have not yet attended any classes but it seems like there are plenty of them and the ones I have observed look good. The cafe is a good addition; there is space to sit down - sometimes I have worked from here for a few hours if I have needed to take a meeting straight after a workout. I haven't eaten here but they have a selection of healthy ready meals and snacks. I do often get a protein shake though and they are very nice and filling. My only warning is that the car parking spaces can be a bit tight, so be careful where you park and who you park next too, and don't park in anything that is not a marked bay as they do actually check and issue fines. I love this place and it has really helped me get back on track with my fitness and health goals.

Negative experience: Main swimming pool is not accessible for disabled people they have no hoist which is very disappointing. The little pool has steps going down into the water but it is difficult. VERY DISAPPOINTING. And if there is a class on the little pool you can not use the main pool cos you can’t get in it. I feel discriminated against cos if you can you can only use 1 pool. I tried it for 1 month but it was not working for me as too difficult. And the gym equipment is not accessible, which I thought it would be. DON’T GO TO THIS GYM IF YOUR IN A WHEELCHAIR. Do your research and go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Lack of classes, dirty changing rooms sauna and steam room are often broke. Large swimming pool is always freezing. Cafe has a poor selection of food. Roof leaks when it rains

Negative experience: I’m surprised this gym still gets members from the way it’s impossible to cancel your membership and they continue to take money out of your bank when you don’t even attend their gym anymore knowing both me and my boyfriend cancelled aswell. If you need to cancel you literally have to get a new bank card to stop the money coming out as they’re no help what so ever don’t care about you they only care about getting the money ! Tell you they will call back or email back & never do. Lied about us attending also when we’re in a new gym now ?

Negative experience: I’ve been a loyal customer to this gym and I feel like you get treated like your not there the workers are never there to help you out they are supposed to be helping there customers and they don’t, such as I came in about week or two ago and I lost my airpod on accident down one of the refilling stations he told me we can’t do it on working hours I understood that but he told me he would call me the next day, I never received a call for a week I think this is a joke now the staff need to sort themselves because I could’ve gotten that fixed but unfortunately they didn’t call me back like they said they would.

Negative experience: When a piece of equipment breaks it stays out of action for ages and then not repaired properly. They also do classes on the main gym floor and ask you to move off the equipment which means you can’t finish your workout. Staff are also rude when I have encountered them and they don’t respond to complaints.

Negative experience: The class instructors are amazing but the equipment and environment let his club down badly. The microphone is always breaking. The sound system is also dodgy cutting out during a class. The roof leaks and when it rains buckets are put in place.It is also dirty. I stay at the club because the classes and instructors are great and I have friends there. I'm not expecting the roof to be fixed but keeping it clean and making sure the equipment works is essential. This is a management problem. Please rectify

Positive experience: My time at Total Fitness Gym Aintree was alright. The equipment was okay, but a few machines needed fixing. Cleanliness was fine, though it could be better. Staff engagement was limited, and the overall atmosphere lacked motivation. It's a decent gym, but there's definitely room for improvement in various aspects.

Positive experience: Gym equipment wasn't great. Huge space with lots of machines but it all seemed old and some didn't work or weren't easy to figure out. It was also very hot in the gym areas. However, the hydro pool was amazing and the only reason it got 3*. Better than most Spa's! The sauna, steam room and solarium were also really nice but busy and two lads were shaving their face and body in them which wasn't very pleasant. I'd go again just to use the spa area but not for the gym. Staff were friendly when they were around. Showers were really old and pretty useless but good hair dryers and plenty of room. I was also a bit put back by the lack of cleaning stations/supplies to wipe machines down after use. I think I saw one station a fair distance from any equipment in the whole building. Gym definitely needs a revamp decor as looks quite grubby.

Negative experience: Con artists, who use people falling ill when members as an extra way to make money. Morally wrong on so many ways.

Negative experience: Tried to complain and cancel about this gym within 1st month of contract. Been waiting for a manager to call me back since october. Been told somebody will call me back multiple times and still no response. Apparently can't cancel the membership without the managers authorisation but can't get in touch with the manager or get a call back. Froze the membership while I tried to sort it but now the membership has unfrozen. Payment taken and still no contact from anyone. Whenever you try to ring you're on hold for an hour before you can speak to someone and when I do they tell me they will call me back and I hear nothing. 7 months and counting

Negative experience: Staff are friendly and nice. The gym is always dirty, machines and surrounds are covered in crud and dust. Machines are broken or in need of updating. A decline bench has a broken notice on it from December 2022. Shaving foam in saunas. It's a shame as it is a big gym, but it's all potential. I believe the PTs are good here and also the classes.

Fantastic experience: Clean and friendly staff!

Positive experience: They could take a leaf out of Prentons book when it comes to new equipment and consistent working amenities but apart from that great staff, great vibe, enjoyable facilities (when working) and huge space with lots of gym equipment. I recommend going of a day-time as the lights are a little bit too bright of a night-time and you miss the crowd

Negative experience: Terrible gym, Sauna always broke, pool is filthy and always has swimming lessons in the main pool at prime times, the hydropool is also filthy and the jets are shocking. The machines are so old and all the pins are missing you have to walk round for ages to find a pin to use the machines. The weights are poor too not enough of them. Paid for a year up front will not be renewing. Going back to everlast or pure gym much better gym!

Negative experience: £50 a month and for that you get staff who are rude and idle, a swimming pool which you can never use because it's full of kids (Even though there's a separate pool for them) or closed because there's too much chlorine in the water (and when you happen to actually get a chance to use it it's filthy), pin machines that have no pin in them so you can't use them, hardly any weights, and when you finally get the weight there's no benches to use it on because there's only 4. Really bad gym for the price, I've signed up with Puregym which is only down the road, has far more equipment and is a fraction of the price. Absolute scam

Negative experience: Not really good at all, not good for a quiet swim as it’s usually like a leisure pool with kids. Gym is poorly equipped and only 1 of most things. 4 dumbbell benches for a large gym is awful.

Negative experience: Did my personal trainer course at the gym for 4 days. Unfortunately the equipment is not only outdated but broken and dangerous for their clients. Men changing rooms are not clean and in some parts the water is leaking and that's another high risk of accidents. All over the place the carpet is in very poor condition as the walls too. However, if you don't have other choices you might find yourself trapped in this outdated gym.

Fantastic experience: Top gym with great facilities and services. Mark was great with his initial induction, showing us round the gym and dealing with any queries. Whilst Luke gave a really useful gym induction.

Negative experience: Me and my misses thought having a female only part as sexist... Unless they reduce cost for men.. We understand that some people feel uncomfortable. If anyone makes anyone feel uncomfortable they should be reported... Maybe we should have separate bars, buses trains. So on. The only way to deal with things is not to hide away. I'm 25 stone and want a male only section.. This is not a bit sexist it's very. Woman are strong people. Hiding them away in a corner is not what woman fought for, I love woman and agree with equal ways.. This is demeaning to woman

Negative experience: Possibly one of the worst gyms I think I've ever become a member of. Management communication shocking. Can see why people get annoyed. Have had to take my complaint to head office now. What's even more funny, they have threatened me with legal action saying I haven't paid when I have sent them a statement showing I have. Please anybody reading this don't join this gym you will regret it. Its actually laughable really.

Negative experience: If it’s not the steam room it’s the sauna that is closed. Cold shower next to sauna has barely a trickle of water. This week jets around hydrotherapy pool out of order. Plunge pool just covered with plastic fencing. Men’s showers smell bad and clearly dirty. Takes weeks to get anything fixed. Now to the gym equipment- this is very old and again frequently broken. As previous reviews have said - Wilmslow is a palace yet members pay the same price.

Negative experience: Been back and forth this gym for over 8 years, and just never seems to improve. The machines rarely work, the sauna or steam rarely work, the changing rooms smell like an old people home. I also work in Wilmslow where their main site is, and the place is like a palace. You would not believe they are the same company. Aintree site has been left on the scrap heap for many years.

Negative experience: The majority of equipment is very old and seems unsafe. Numerous machines that are regulary out of order. Broken lights in the gym which are constantly flicking off and on Carpets filthy alongside bins overflowing. Staff not doing a good job of keeping the club clean. Poor management it seems which leads to these issues. Everything is very dated ! Save your money and go a 24hr gym such as the gym group or pure gym.

Negative experience: I have been really disappointed with way in which the facilities here are constantly broken down. The steam room has had its door off now for around a week I asked about when this door was going to be fixed 5 days ago, the member of staff I spoke to was so defensive she even said it had been fixed when it was still off the frame. She then said the handy man was in the building and it would be fixed That day. Came to swim today and guess what the steam room was still out of order. No sign to say why or for how long. I then spoke to a deputy manager again excuses she couldn't comment on the member of staff saying that to me. No time frame given, again dismissive not one apology. I left thinking who is taking responsibility for this place. The plunge pool is also out of order as well as the other sauna next to it. Ther eare so many warning barriers in the swimming pool area you would think it was a building site. They are charging members £45 and half the swimming area facilities do not work. Is the real reason they are out of order is due to the cost of the electricity to run them. I'm sure they will be saving 100's of pounds whilst they are "out of order". Wl be cancelled my membership if this doesn't change soon.

Positive experience: only use the pool and sauna/steam and vie been impressed so far. Needs a clean when i arrive in the evenings but cant complain for the price.

Negative experience: THE worst gym I’ve ever been to. Overflowing bins. Dirty changing rooms. Thread bare carpet. Not a cleaner in sight. This place has let itself go beyond the point of no return.

Negative experience: In need of a good clean very dirty

Negative experience: Machines old and half broken. Never tidied. Reception young girls have a bad attitude more bothered about posing than doing their job, face like a smacked arse. Staff working out whilst there is no one on reception to serve you. Understaffed nothing cleaned or put back in it’s place. Not worth the cost to have kids running round everywhere.

Negative experience: Took the boxing bags in the back room down for no reason even thought a lot of people liked to incorporate in there work out

Negative experience: Pools sauna and steam rooms never work, you're paying 40 a month for a gym with damadged equipment, management unhelpfull. wouldn't recomend.

Negative experience: For the price the membership, too much of the equipment is in poor order, so are the carpets. The gym area could do with an overhaul. There's not enough of the type of equipment that people use a lot, and too many that aren't used. This means that when it's busy, expect to wait for what you want to use. Not a great gym to be honest.

Negative experience: Terrible website. Doesn't show you the price of anything unless you submit a form. You don't need my personal information to show the price of membership. I looked at other options because of this.

Negative experience: Couldn't wait to leave this glorified council gym. Everything is always broke. Very expensive for what it is. Save you're hard earned money and join sports direct gym.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, friendly and helpful staff and trainers.

Negative experience: Used the Beauty & spa area inside the facilities, as a treat for me and my mum. The staff inside the salon were so busy, they told us to “use the facilities” which meant they were running over time which it normally took. After 2 treatments each, which was of poor massage equal to applying sun cream of average quality and smudges polish, we stayed 3:12 minutes and we received a parking fine £60 for being TWO MINUTES over the apparent allowance. The cameras picked up on the license plate and we weren’t told on any time allowance by neither the staff or the gym. By the time we appealed it, the company take so long to reply that they put pressure on the increased fine and you end up paying it anyway BEWARE- PARKING EYE

Negative experience: just want your money, try and keep you their even if you cant afford it any more and the gym equipment is broken half the time and no one does anything about it, the changing room is dirty and so is the pool and sauna area.

Fantastic experience: Rented one of the squash courts, loved it. The center is clean and accessible. It is also located next to Crosby beach, so you can relax after a workout.

Positive experience: Came here as part of a gloss Groupon spa day. Overall facalities can't complain but there are no signs in the changing rooms to the pool and it worries me there are no shaving signs all over the saunas. It was supprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon so me and my friend got the jacuzzi pretty much to ourselves. Gloss was a different story as we paid for a facial and back massage. Facial was pretty lovely but was a case of putting on a mask and leaving me alone in a room for 15 minutes where I could hear every little thing that the salon staff were laughing about and then it was taken off. The back massage, well i could have asked for better from my boyfriend as it was just slathering me in baby oil in a gross dirty room where the massuse played relaxing music off her phone that went off with texts 3 times during the massage Wich she answered! You get what you pay for.

Negative experience: Total fitness is a total rip off u get treated like cattle. TFSefton is a bad centre you have a general manager who only thinks about his waist line and not the members. The staff are great accept a few lazy front of house assistant, club attendant with a gobby mouth. I would join JD gym or pure gym.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym, lots of equipment, 25 metre swimming pool. Ladies changing rooms are well equipped even has ghd hair dryers. Take your own padlock for the lockers. Lovely friendly staff

Negative experience: We are now in January 2019 and that culture of lazyness and incompetence in this gym which allows people to do what they want is worse than ever. Oh the staff now walk in circles ticking a wordsheet to demonstrate they are monitoring, but that's just about all they are doing. I came in with my wife today and was once again shocked with the lack of management in the pool sauna area. New signs have gone up regarding 'No Shaving' in the saunas and there was a bloke shaving in the hydropool. We then sat in the sauna and two fat greasy blokes were shaving and staff noticed them on the pretend checks they do and did nothing. We have 3 months left of our contract and like the rest of the family we will not be renewing our contract. Incompetent management

Negative experience: Well, its Jan 2019 and my membership for this unmanaged dump is finally over and all of my family can get out of this contractual dump. Although, there seems to be a lot of staff on here commending this dump? The new system in place where poolside staff walk around in circles and tick a box to show there checking is really more about waiting till there is nobody in the saunas/hydro pool and then they go round dismissing the scruffy bald apes shaving and eating. I went their with my wife and there was dirty scrotes walking around the pool and sauna holding razor blades (right in front of the baywatch wannabees).

Negative experience: I went here yesterday and I couldn't believe the difference between this gym and the one in Whitefield! As soon as I walked in there was an overpowering smell of vomit (seriously). The free weights area was a complete mess...no plates on trees and equipment all over the floor. To top it all off I also cut my hand on a sharp edge of a rack. I won't be bothering again.

Fantastic experience: Great range of classes. Lovely pools - large and small. Fab Jacuzzi and steam room. Very helpful staff. Great vibe.

Positive experience: Does what it says on the tin

Negative experience: Pretty much always empty, especially the pool. Good layout, lots of classes. Sauna/saunarium/steam room not clean. Changing rooms and shower areas frequently not clean. I've been a member for years and whilst it's never been as nice as the birkenhead or Chester clubs the fact that it's always quiet has kind of made up it, but it's starting to annoy me now, I definitely don't think it's worth £40 a month.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, I have always been too self conscious to go to the gym or pool due to previous incidents of abuse but I don't get that here. The pools are great, equipment is good and staff are lovely.

Negative experience: If you're thinking of joining a gym this January avoid this one! Broken gym equipment, broken lockers and dirty changing rooms and toilets! Hydro, sauna, steam rooms - if you're lucky they'll be all working, at the correct temperatures and clean - but don't bet on it! Compliants ignored by management but they have your money so don't care!

Positive experience: Been a member here since it first opened and even after the fire. It has had its highs and lows, but is back on track. Gym area is great and all the equipment you could want and the classes are plentiful. One thing, though, the poolside sauna, steel room and saunarium very rarely work at full power. Also the gyro therapy pool is usually cold. Have complained before but they tell me it's down to there only being a single generator for the entire site. Would like to see a revamp of this place like the one in Prenton. That has had a lot of money spent on the changing rooms and cafe area.

Fantastic experience: Good facilities, particularly the pool and spa-pool

Positive experience: Probably a bit too expensive for just doing weights. Some of the equipment has broken when I've been using it, loose cables and the seat not locking correctly. The staff in my experience are friendly and the pool is great. Some members like to leave the weights all over the floor.
