Fantastic experience: Been attending since September, have really loved doing the classes. I have especially enjoyed classes with Tasha and Steph. I do miss pump however, but am enjoying pump and GLC!

Fantastic experience: The gym is one of the busiest of the chain in London but for a reason. The staff are super friendly and the PTs (shout out to Adrian, Tasha, Dan and Krishna) always run great classes. They book up fast because of how good the they are. Definitely recommend

Negative experience: Worst gym. Always too busy. They have definitely oversold their memberships. Spent the last 20min waiting for availability on equipment. Left half way through. This always seems to be the case, cancelling my membership this evening and moving back to VA

Positive experience: I like this gym. Fairly new equipment kept clean and in good condition. People are nice and share machines when it’s pick time. However, I do still think this gym is heavily overcrowded and there should be some limitations put on how many people can enter.

Negative experience: Due to weak management and invariably entitled and lazy staff, the whole gym is disgustingly filthy. The men's gym changing rooms haven't been cleaned in months and it reeks of historical stains. The cleaning sign placed outside makes a nice prop, however, the stains on and inside the lockers are also a nice touch. If you try to engage with the staff they are either glued to their mobiles or chatting amongst themselves / getting familiar with the lone ladies. For people looking for a gym, I recommend signing up elsewhere.

Negative experience: Disappointing experience at this gym. Shane and most staff members are extremely rude and intimidating towards clients. The atmosphere is unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Management has failed to address these issues despite complaints. Avoid this gym if you want a positive fitness environment. I hope they improve their customer service and staff behavior soon.

Fantastic experience: Claphan north stataion
Negative experience: Gym is great, however staff are probably the laziest that I’ve seen, literally seeing the staff going into their office room, I’ve been knocking on the door multiple times as I’ve seen them going back in, to ask them about lost property but no one opened, it is as they didn’t want to work. It was a gym manager to be specific! Not the PT
Positive experience: Good gym lots of sexy fit boys..Eqitment very good and modern. Plus great private trainers if needed.
Positive experience: Always very busy and very expensive. Changing rooms are tiny and toilets smell badly!
Negative experience: First time going to this gym and it’s closed due to a leak. Next time let us know in the app instead of wasting our time
Positive experience: This gym is always insanely busy regardless of what time you go. The change room facilities are nothing flash and often smell bad. However, it is priced accordingly.
Negative experience: Less virtue signalling about being "inclusive" and more time spent keeping some semblance of respect for putting weights back in the right position.

Positive experience: Nice gym and knowledgeable trainer but the carpet needs a good vacuuming big time!!! I keep seeing the cleaners with a broom trying to clean the carpet. LOL the green fake area looks like it never been vaccummed so when someone put a mat on floor bring all the dust, lovely.
Fantastic experience: It's a wonderful place to take the family to discover new ways of exercising with all types of machines, and professionals provide support whenever someone has difficulty knowing how to do the exercise so as not to get hurt.

Fantastic experience: Pretty great, I go in non-peak hours and there's tons of equipment and space, staff seems to be around most of the time too if you need help with something ☺️
Negative experience: Good Gym, with a good range of equipment and in theory good value for location/equipment, and some good classes if that's your thing. However, as many other people flag they do not limit the number of people attending which makes the gym often overcrowded. I have been a member since 2019, but have now decided to swap to a different Gym further from my house because it became impractical to only attend when it's not overcrowded (generally before 9am on weekends, after 8:30pm on week days). They have added so much equipment to the weights area I suspect that the some of the weights racks are now dangerously close together and in places block access to emergency exits, emergency call points, etc.

Positive experience: A bit of a mixed bag. The weight machines are actually quite advanced and modern. I also liked being able to use the treadmills on the balcony overlooking the rest of the gym. However (as other reviewers note) it's too busy and - unlike certain other gyms nearby - doesn't have 24/7 access to smooth out the rush. I rarely managed to find a spare bench in the free weights area except on Sunday afternoons. Decided to discontinue my discounted corporate membership. If you can afford to spend a bit more each month and go elsewhere, do so.
Negative experience: Lots of the equipment is missing the smaller incremental weights. Like other PureGyms, the air temperature is warm and the showers are cold to save energy. A small gym for the amount of the people who go
Negative experience: I will keep leaving bad reviews until i get the money of the resubs back. It is unacceptable that i go to this gym for years and because i stopped for a few months i am charged resub fee.
Positive experience: It's not very big Very easily too crowded. And really overpriced Not a 24 hr gym No other facilities, only gym No parking
Positive experience: Great equipment and space let down by PureGym's miserly attitude towards air-conditioning. PureGym Clapham is too hot and humid for my taste particularly off peak. Turn up the AC and this could be the best gym in the local area.
Negative experience: First of all, I did take a add on to my membership to have hydration drinks and the machine is at this day still out of order! I can't believe I'm paying for something not even working! Also, your air-conditioning vents are not cleaned or serviced for long time and as a result the air is not suitable for work out. It smells like dust and this air completely blocks my nose. Friday night it's closed at 10pm.
Negative experience: Half the equipment isnt symmetrical, oversubscribed and too hot, the AC units have dust on and none of the windows can open
Positive experience: Good equipment including hip thrust machine, however it is a very small gym, overall was pleased with my workout/ experience
Fantastic experience: I'm rating it five stars because I live 300m away and work from home so I'm able to go 09:00-11-30 or 14:00-16:00 and it's great - not crowded, lots of new kit, friendly & responsive staff (especially Eloise & Sam) excellent PTs, very good value. At weekends I've arrived at 06:00 and been the only person there. The other day I saw Eloise shepherd a disabled member around the kit, making sure he was exercising safely and appropriately, and of course enjoying himself. It's indicative of a very welcoming and friendly environment which lives up to its claim of welcoming everyone, regardless. But of course it's a city gym in an expensive location that has to pay its way, so it gets crowded if you go at peak times. Your choice is either to go to Virgin Active and pay at least twice the price or get up earlier...
Negative experience: Gym is almost all the time has issues with hot water and you cannot shower. Also timers are ridiculous. Off peak Friday for example is (9-10) pm only! As gym closes at 10pm why does it have to close that early most of pure gym stay long and we pay less..

Negative experience: One person working for the gym available, which I think is very dangerous not just for customers but the staff member aswell. It was very very busy and needed staff assistance but with one person working in the whole gym over 2 floors and also running the class it didn't feel safe to work out there.
Fantastic experience: The lady manager is great! Great communication skills and problem solving approach. She made me feel a valuable guest. Great Job! Gym has all the machines needed for a serious training.

Positive experience: If you are in the gym when it’s empty AND you have an off-peak membership it’s worth it. The equipment is good quality and it’s got the PureGym feeling to it. However paying £45 for the on-peak membership is extortionate for what it is. It’s substantially smaller than other PureGyms, closes before 11pm (I know right?) and is ridiculously busy after work from 4-8pm (to the point where it is more aggravating than enjoyable). But Clapham has very little gym options, so you pretty much have no choice but to choose this one anyway. It’s the fourth PureGym I’ve been a member of in my life and it is far inferior to the previous three. Nonetheless, I have good workouts there, but I have to come at the most inconvenient times to achieve them.

Negative experience: Gym is just far too busy. I’ve been going now for three years and it’s just gotten so busy since Jan. Even if you have a peak membership you are forced to go during off peak hours just so you can get some space and not have to wait for machines. From 6-8pm there’s always over 130 in there which makes it so crammed. Will be looking at alternatives!

Fantastic experience: I love all the new classes that they have added to the timetable. Great gym and great atmosphere. I just wish the classes were longer.. 30 minutes is always 25 mins and 25 mins is a warm up really. Can we get the 45 minutes or 1h classes back?! Also - what about introducing Zumba? It would be such a hit!!

Fantastic experience: Close to my home and I go in the morning for 45mins the. Shower there then off to work. Underground and buses nearby. I like the changing room as it has cubicle showers

Negative experience: Not enough machines and when broken it takes up to 4 months to fix one machine (with 3 or 4 being broken at a time) Other pure gyms have much more range of equipment and they pay much less than other gyms.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member for just over a month now. I have the off peak membership as it suits me to go at these times. So, for about £30/month I usually find the gym fairly quiet and have no trouble gaining access or using any of the equipment. I can't comment on other's experience of using the gym at peak times but my experience has been great, so far.

Negative experience: Definitely the worst PureGym in London. Pay £17.99 extra for access to this specific one which is one of the smallest I’ve been to, has only 2 cable machines which are always doubled up in use, and rarely a bench free unless it’s 3:15 on a Tuesday.

Our gyms are very popular and so can become busy especially at peak times, but this does fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day. To make the most of the space where possible, though, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. Members can also use the members area via the PureGym app or website, to see how many people are in the gym. Negative experience: Two of the back machines have been broken for 6 weeks. Bench press is positioned in a way that it may create a scenario for serious injury as it is positioned along a busy pathway so people may bump into the bar. Fitness class instructions blasted into the entire gym over the PA at full volume Why? Besides these issues the gym is not actually bad for a very busy gym.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Negative experience: They’re having a laugh. It was tolerable up until January this year. They’ve let far too many people in. If you read the reviews the one big complaint is that it is too busy during peak times. What did puregym clapham do? Put in more squat racks and let 50 more people in of course. On peak times (Monday eve) there’s about 180 people. I’m an experienced pt who has been to many gyms in the past, and never have I ever seen a gym this crowded. It’s pathetic. Not to mention that it cost 47£ for a core single gym access, and it isn’t even 24 hours! Daylight robbery if you ask me.

Negative experience: Terrible service. App doesn’t work. So much time wasted trying to log my details on the system. Password not recognised and trying to reset, no email received. PIN code to enter is disabled. I’m very unhappy new member.

Positive experience: I’ve been going to this gym for a couple of years now. It’s decent overall, ventilation could be better.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: Overcrowded at all times of the day. Don’t even waste your £56 a month on this gym and go elsewhere. The local leisure centre is so much better and has a pool. The classes are good but only when you can actually get in. They’re usually booked up way in advance. The app is good as it shows how many are in the gym (currently 141 people). The gym is too small to accommodate this huge number but PureGym are obviously only worried about profit. The equipment always breaks and seems to be left for months on end before it gets fixed. Waste of money. Oh and the air con is none existent so walking into a small area with 141 people working out in is like stepping into a steam room. It’s stale, smelly and gross.

Negative experience: Too many people not enough equipment badly laid out gym. Pure gym I’ve seen your bot replies PLEASE don’t fob me off with “sorry our gym is popular, peak times etc” The equipment is falling apart and there isn’t enough and the space isn’t used effectively. Total rip off considering it’s the most expensive pure gym

Negative experience: If you're thinking of joining this gym: DON'T. I've been a member here for a couple of years now and i've noticed a serious degradation in the equipment over this time (Pictures below). Equipment that fails or breaks, most recently the chest supported T-Bar Row is NOT replaced, and simply filled with an existing piece of equipment which isn't acceptable and is clearly a cost cutting measure. Attachments for cable machines are falling apart or have otherwise failed, and are now just down to bare metal on skin (Tetanus anyone?), also pictured. I raised a few of these issue's with one of the PT's asking if the equipment that had failed were to be replaced and he was visibily angry about it and i quote 'they never listen to us, you think us being PT's we'd have some sort of say in the state of the gym and the equipment they provide, but they don't. This is one of the most expensive Puregym's in the country and the equipment is severly lacking'. He was clearly dismayed and embaressed that i had raised this - IF EVEN YOUR OWN STAFF ARE SAYING THIS YOU HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. All in all i'd avoid joining this gym and pay the extra to go elsewhere - Not only is the equipment dated and failing, as other reviewers have mentioned it is horrendously overpacked at the best of times, it really need's to be seen to be believed. Queing behind 3-4 other members is the norm at peak times for a machine or weight bench. Overall a worn, over priced and uninspiring gym where your membership fee's simply disappear into the abyss of a CEO's pocket no doubt, with no re-investment to retain existing or attract new customers. This gym is literally opposite my house and couldn't be anymore convenient, but even that won't keep me as a paying customer anymore.

Negative experience: Disgustingly busy. You really have to see it to believe it. So cramped and claustrophobic. Can’t move for people. It gets two stars because the classes are good (albeit busy as well). But if you work a 9-5 job (like most members do) and want to use the main gym, you’ll be arriving at ‘peak’ time after work where you’ll be packed in like a sardine. I’ve seen PureGym respond to these complaints saying people should just go at a less busy time during the day… How?! We all have jobs. I can’t just leave at 11am. I wish they’d use the money they’re taking from members to actually expand the gym floor. If I had other affordable gym options nearby, I’d leave in a heartbeat.

Negative experience: I've been going to this gym for the past month. It is very close to my home so I though to change from my previous gym and give it a try. I've been going to many different gyms across London of many different companies and unfortunately the Clapham branch is as disappointing as it is expensive. There are couple of things that made me realize it was mistake since I walk though the door. First thing is that is to small for amount of people that goes there. Queues for equipment are very common thing. If you want to do quick session - forget about it. Equipment have visible signs of use which is not much of a problem but is kind of ridiculous taking into account how much monthly membership costs. Functional training area is right next to the stairs which are in the center of the gym , if the area is busy you got to maneuver around people to get upstairs. There is plenty of benches in the free weight area tho! BUT they are everywhere , completely unorganized. Finding couple of square meters of free space is difficult. At the time when I was going there only one lat pulldown machine was working. 1 pull down machine for average of 40-50 people at the gym at the same time. Just one. Overall I think that this Gym should cost half of what it does already for what is has to offer and stay as it is or get a MASSIVE upgrade and keep the high price. There are several gyms roughly 20 minutes by bus from Clapham which have much more to offer and you gonna save those 20 minutes because you wont have to wait to use the equipment. Only good thing are the classes! There are many options
