Bletchley Leisure Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: Good place to play badminton, a little pricey though
Positive experience: Facilities are very good but to pay £15 for a day pass for swimming and sauna is ridiculous
Positive experience: I attend once a week to play squash, off and on can have a problem with staff but mainly ok, seem pleasant and approachable. Squash court 2 , for a while now, the kick board on the main wall needs to be fixed. The floors can be dirty as well. The removal of the table tennis table needs to be removed after the session has finished from the squash court . I don't normally moan , it's just a heads up on what can be improved. I hope this helps.
Positive experience: Plenty of activity options there and a great website to book classes online.
Fantastic experience: Lots of thing to do there, always busy. Car park could be bigger.
Negative experience: Noone picks up the phone! I have been trying to contact the centre for the past week, calling multiple times a day at various points, yet no response. This is absolutely appauling and disappointing. Way to lose new customers BLC.
Negative experience: Since changing the company, it has gone worse. Internet Wi-Fi is crap, no hot water in showers. Shower cubicles in men’s rooms are never cleaned.
Thank you for your comments, we have encountered a couple of teething problems in the take over and we are working to get them sorted. We are sorry you have experienced these issues. Thank you, Victoria
Negative experience: Never pick up the phone
Fantastic experience: To be honest, we only visit this place as it is currently home to the MK Breakers Basketball team. We are big fans, so we can only comment on that perspective. Team are lovely, and we always have a good time even on the odd occasion we lose. Can't comment on the cafe as most of the time shut or not enough choice, so we tend to go into town and grab food first and bring snacks with us.
Negative experience: Wish I could give it zero stars. Joined there and only remained a member for less than 2 months due to how nasty the place is. Gym is decent and nice, staff are lovely. Pool side has mould everywhere, broken tiles. Toilets absolutely disgusting, makes you want to Vomit. New management and the place has become more untidy. I mean what does paining walls change. Place needs to be condemned. Reported to Milton Keynes council and health and safety.
Thank you for your comments Matthew. I am sorry to hear your experience has not been as you expected. We are currently working with the new management team to ensure these issues are resolved soon. Victoria
Positive experience: I use this place every week for indoor bowls and find it's generally clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. Only downside is that the carpark lift is broken and is unlikely never be fixed.
Positive experience: My 4-year-old recently attended her Stage 1 swimming class at Bletchley Leisure Centre. After the session ended, she continued playing in the water while the other children had already exited. The instructor, instead of gently guiding her out, shouted at her in a loud and harsh tone, demanding she leave the water immediately. I strongly feel that such behavior is inappropriate, especially when dealing with young children in their formative years. A simple, gentle nudge would have been more than enough. We raised our concerns with the staff at the reception, and the young lady there was very understanding and empathetic. She promptly adjusted my child’s class timing so she could be taught by a different instructor, which we deeply appreciate. The three stars in my review are solely for the kind and thoughtful staff member at the reception. However, I would like to humbly request the management to address the behavior of the instructor teaching Stage 1 children on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 6:30 PM. It is crucial for instructors working with young children to approach them with patience and gentleness. Shouting should never be an acceptable method to gain compliance, as I’m sure many parents would agree. I hope the management can provide feedback to the instructor and offer guidance on how to handle young children in a more positive and constructive manner.
Negative experience: Good range of facilities in gym. However the changing rooms were disgusting. Signed up for the 7 day trial and on the first day I was put off from signing up as both gym & swimming changing rooms are grim. Tissues, rubbish and all sorts left around there.
Negative experience: Frustrated. Disappointed. Been using this facility since being a kid, as the days went on, service became worse and worse. Now the membership has no benefits? What’s the point of signing up for a monthly membership if I’m not getting anything out of it. This ain’t a CHARITY?! Booking an hour is £80, usually you’d get discount prices for the monthly subscription but now discounts are all removed. The prices are very unreasonable. Cancelling my membership and finding a new venue.
Negative experience: They have cut down the membership discount after being a member with them for all these years. Very disappointing
Fantastic experience: Great place for sport and leisure. So many classes and activities there. Car park is free, lately getting quite busy, but still able to find a spot. There is a cafe where you can buy food as well. The high street is around the corner too.
Positive experience: I went there to watch some Thai Boxing fights. Given that putting on shows isn't the venues intended purpose I thought it was good and the staff were helpful.
Positive experience: Great place to keep fit!
Positive experience: Lots to do ample parking good facilities
Fantastic experience: Nice place for swimming and much more
Positive experience: I love it, not least because I can incorporate a 20 minute walk each way getting there and back! It has all the facilities and classes that I could wish for with, usually, very helpful and friendly staff. The only reason it didn’t score 5 stars is that the cleanliness of the gents changing rooms often leaves something to be desired. In fairness, of course, that is partly down to the casual attitude of some of my fellow men!
Negative experience: Nice leisure centre and excellent hospitality. However, the pool is too shallow, that's why 2 stars.
Fantastic experience: Very good center with lot of sports and activities to do. They have nice courts for badminton, basketball, table tennis, squash. They also have a good size swimming pool. The staff are friendly and keen to help with any needs. Its a great place to play some games and get some good fitness sessions in. The prices are also quite decent.
Fantastic experience: Big pool, really good aqua fit class, very decent sized gym. Cafe is nice but not much of a selection. Really nice staff and nice and clean. Loads of changing rooms, nappy changing facility in some and larger rooms if needed. Just remember to bring a padlock for the lockers
Negative experience: Worst gym I’ve ever been to in my life. And I’ve been to many all across the UK. I signed up to this gym mainly because when I was given a tour of the gym and sold my membership they confirmed to me when a fitness class was not on I could use the spin studio and fitness studios to workout in. For religious reasons I don’t exercise in mixed sex areas so this was perfect news! After being a member for two months the leisure centre has now told me I’m not allowed to use the fitness studios, I’ve spoken to a different member of staff every single day I visit the gym for the past threee weeks about this. One day someone tells me it’s fine to use as long as I inform staff when I’m in and out, another day I’m told strictly no entry. It changes every day and the arguments with staff costs me valuable time from exercise as I only have a short amount of time before I start work to exercise. The poor communication of the staff here has been extremely frustrating and they just lied to me to get me to sign up to their gym, one of the gym staff( the white guy with glasses) even told me the sales team will say anything just to get a sale. So they only care about getting your money and nothing else. I have now cancelled my membership and will never return to this leisure centre. I have now warned my neighbours and their families to avoid this gym and have also shared this to my social media channels so as many people know as possible to never sign up to a scam of a place. The gym facilities is poor and more for the middle aged to older generation. They hold these ‘gala’ events often which means you can’t use the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and other areas of the centre for days on end. The facilities is very old, smelly and dirty. The only good thing is that there is a costa coffee on site. I recommend going to Nuffield or Fitness First as you get more for your money and they don’t lie just to make a sale. If you do decide to sign up, I recommend you record what the sales team says to you and promised you so you have proof of their lies and can use as evidence to report them.
Negative experience: Never really had a problem with this place until now. My little girl goes here for Gymnastics normally we take a water with us however on this occasion we forgot. Purchased one via the vending machine, was charged but unfortunately the drink got stuck, asked a member of staff for help but instead they decided to treat me like I was a thief. I wouldn’t mind if it was an expensive item but for a water!! Are you kidding me, I’m not going to lie about a water being stuck so I can get a freebie. Feel like the lady in question could do with a crash course in customer service!
Negative experience: Came in around 1pm Sunday to use the upstairs gym, the music was so loud I could hear it through my noise cancellation headphones. Not just hear it but hear it very loud! Spoke to reception but nothing was done. Absolutely ridiculous! I'm here to workout, not to party for gods sake keep the music down!!
Negative experience: The changing rooms and showers are absolutely disgusting in the swimming pool area, the showers don't even work properly, one of the shower handle literally fell off, they are unclean literally vile. There's insects crawling everywhere and the toilets are filthy too.
Fantastic experience: I really love the gym at Bletchley leisure Centre ❤️
Positive experience: I have a membership and enjoy my twice weekly swim . There is seriously a lack of organisation awful experience today . The place needs better management, I was going to discuss this privately with the Centre Manager today but was this clearly wasn’t possible . Need to up your game and ensure all members are getting the experience they pay for !
Fantastic experience: A beautiful environment for our recently concluded Health Education and Physical activities event. Very friendly staff.
Negative experience: Worst run/managed leisure centre that I’ve ever used! At least twice a month, the pool isn’t opened on time due to manager/lifeguards not turning up. Absolute disgraceful.
Negative experience: Hire people that want to answer the phone. The receptionist just kept cutting the phone. The more I called the quicker the phone was being hung up
Positive experience: I went here for a swim, it was a bit grotty and run down but the schedule was good, they sold day passes and it wasn’t too crowded. Pretty good overall experience.
Positive experience: Took me and 2 under nine for a hour session that cost £21 I'm sorry but this is so expensive for a hour of splashing with the kids
Fantastic experience: The leisure centre has much to offer. Today I took my family swimming. It has a large pool. 3 lanes for the lane swimmers. And a area for the family to have fun in. Please make sure you book on the app for the centre,as day/days before you intend to attend. As it will most likely be full. It's a busy centre, but as long as you book it will make your life easier on the day. Many different memberships available for all sorts of exercises. Lockers require a padlock. So make sure you have 1 before you attend.
Negative experience: Today we went with my daughter, and even though she had a great time as most kids do in or near water, for me the experience was somewhat different. The lack of hygiene mentioned here on other reviews is obvious. In or near the toilets the smell is just unbearable. My daughter could not go to toilet as all female stalls were marked as out of order, and the male toilet was just disgusting beyond comprehension. However, the worst was going in the water. Even though the water was so full of chlorine that it hurt my eye going in, the water smelled of all kind of other things as well. I don't think water has been changed in a long-long time...
Positive experience: The swimming changing cubicles don't look clean. There is a whiteboard telling people not to wear outside shoes into the swimming change area. This is ignored or I have noticed a lot of people arriving with pool shoes so they don't have to change them I often see mothers standing by the pool wearing boots and with pushchairs and they aren't challenged.
Negative experience: It started great when we first played Badminton there , but the third time when l pre booked a court , nothing was set up a it had basketball players with music blaring, booked for an hour but left after 25mins , absolutely fuming and none of the staff could even apologise, just looked at the floor and walked away .
Positive experience: Website is "dogy". Prebooking for public swimming is not easy. However the scheme "kids swim for free in mk3" is interesting. Not very clean changing cubicles.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to the two members of staff on reception at approx 6pm on 26th March. My young son had trapped his thumb in my car door on our way into a Fustal class and the staff on reception, even though dealing with other customers, leapt up to help us as my son was very distressed. Their first aid and care was so appreciated, thank you so much.
Negative experience: My recent visit to Bletchley Leisure Centre was nothing short of a nightmare. My friends and I had made plans to enjoy a basketball session from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, which we diligently booked over the phone in advance. However, upon arriving at the leisure centre, our excitement quickly turned into frustration and disbelief. To our dismay, we were informed that our reserved basketball session had been cancelled due to purportedly someone else cancelling their booking. This excuse was not only unfounded but also reeked of incompetence and poor management. It was abundantly clear that the staff at Bletchley Leisure Centre were incapable of managing their reservations system effectively. What was even more infuriating was the indifferent attitude of the staff members we encountered. Instead of offering a genuine apology or attempting to rectify the situation, they brushed off our concerns with apathy and disinterest. It was as if they couldn't be bothered to uphold their end of the agreement with paying customers. Bletchley Leisure Centre's utter disregard for customer satisfaction and professionalism is utterly disgraceful. Not only did they fail to honour our reservation, but they also failed to provide any semblance of adequate customer service. It is evident that customer satisfaction is not a priority for this establishment. In light of this appalling experience, I strongly advise against patronizing Bletchley Leisure Centre. Save yourself the frustration and inconvenience by seeking alternative leisure facilities that actually value their customers. Bletchley Leisure Centre has lost my trust and business indefinitely.
Negative experience: I had a horrible experience, I had booked a time for the basketball courts from 14:30 to 16:30 but due to unforeseen circumstances I wouldn't be able to make it on time. I called at 13:53 to ask whether we could change it, knowing it was unlikely. They said they couldn't change it so I had said we were going to be late. We had turned up at 13:15/20, and tried to get in. They had then said that my booking was not there. Upon questioning they then claimed that I had cancelled it. I obviously said that I didn't but they kept saying that I did. They claimed I had cancelled it at 13:57, funny how the cancellation happened right after the call ended. I think it was quite likely that they had cancelled it due to a miscommunication on the phone. I had asked to speak to a manager and they brought out some random girl who looked like she was my age (18). I said can we not just go in, I know I haven't cancelled it and I am the only one with access to my accounts, can I not just go in, we're now anyways. She said there was "nothing we can do it's against our policies". They then said we had to either leave or pay for ANOTHER hour. The whole time they were speaking to us rudely, and not taking us seriously because we are young. They all need training in customer service because this should not fly. We ended up paying £60.00 for 1 hour of basketball. Absolutely disgusting, do not go you will lose your money.
Fantastic experience: I go there every morning gym swim and sauna, very friendly and not that busy at 7am weekdays
Fantastic experience: We have just held a pool party for my daughter's 10th birthday. Rachel coordinated the booking and was incredibly helpful. Questions were all answered quickly and efficiently. Priya was our party host and was absolutely fantastic. She went above and beyond to making sure everything was perfect. From helping us to decorate and set up our extras in the party room to clearing up. She knew just what needed doing. We choose to self cater but the party room was set up with a banner, table cloths and balloons. We could also play music in the room. I loved the swim test (1 length of the pool) As the adult booking the party I felt really comfortable that the children were safe and that the lifeguards knew who to keep a closer eye on. There were plenty of mats, noodles. Floats and balls to keep everyone entertained. Thank you so much for making my daughter's 10th birthday so special. My son has already requested the same for his 10th birthday!
Negative experience: As a local leisure centre with membership prices at the typical rates, one does of course expect the usual problems - uncleanliness, poorly maintained gym equipment, miserable staff, overrun with children, and so on. However, Bletchley Leisure Centre goes far beyond this in its flaws. The swimming pool changing areas are filthy. Last week, there was an actual puddle of urine on the bench in one of the changing cubicles. The staff are constantly spraying cheap men's cologne to try and mask the unremitting foul odour that pervades the entire swimming pool area, never addressing the root issue (guttering and drainage). You can prebook your swim session, and must scan on entry. However, the scanner doesn't work properly, and will frequently open the doors without marking you as 'attended' on the system. Guess what - three strikes and you're banned! Humiliating every time I have to mention in front of a large queue that, yet again, the system has 'banned me', despite never once having not attended a pre-booked session. I've complained about antisocial teenagers using the free-weights area in the gym, which apparently shouldn't be allowed. However, I complained again about this last week and pointed out the kids to the staff, who were so very weak in their approach. The offenders remained in the gym, deliberately dropping dumbbells near me, and then mocking me as I did dumbbell shrugs with perfect form - "What is my man even doing? Gay!" - one of the charming youths remarked before making his swift exit. I've requested that they ban the individual or I will be cancelling my membership. I'm actually all for youngsters being able to train in the gym - fair play to them. But the antisocial ones - no, thanks. This isn't a prison gym. The gym is relatively empty during the days, but alas, the weight plates and dumbbells are never put back in their place by the elderly gentleman in charge of the gym, who typically seems more concerned with trying to fill the space with cheesy pop music from a 90's boombox. He does seem rather too frail to be handling weight plates heavier than 15kg. They run a swim class for kids on Wednesdays. I entered a free lane, not realising it was reserved for the class, to then be squawked at by the Trunchbull-esque swim instructor as though I'd purposely committed the most heinous of offences. Charming lady! The automated front doors have been broken for a month now. Not going to get that fixed, hey guys? Finally, I will mention - a couple of your female staff members do not seem to be quite aware when they are actually truly outside of another's peripheral view. It is terribly bad manners to be eyeing up men from head to toe, ladies. If this had happened once or twice, fine. But every single time I pass you? Please stop. Bletchley Leisure Centre is literally one of the very most unpleasant environments I have ever endured. I think I may have PTSD. *eye twitches*
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we apologise the facility and your experience wasn’t up to the standards you feel it should be. We are aware that you have already had discussions with the team regarding some of your comments. Fantastic experience: Excellent Gym. This has many facilities from Sauna, Swimming Pool, Tennis court, Basketball Court, Squash Court, E Gym, Viewing Gallery, Normal Gym with all the free weights and may extras, Physiotherapy onsite, Restaurant and much more.
Negative experience: Dirty place: always a mess in the gym with a lot of dust on the equipment, the floor in the pool always dirty - people going there in their outside shoes, rude and unorganised receptionists.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant if you want to go swimming, gym , or even play sports in the hall
Fantastic experience: I booked for my son and 4 of his friends to go to the Halloween fun swim today and they all had a great time ! And the hot dog and drink after that was included in the price went down well ! All the staff were soooo friendly !
Negative experience: Have tried calling the reception multiple times, various times in the day and so has my friend. Neither of us have had an answer! We just want to book one of the tennis courts!! Really, really poor and looks like we’re not the first to mention this either.
Negative experience: VERY BAD. STAFF RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND MEASURED. THEY CREATE A BAD IMPRESSION. DIRTY SHOWERS ARE NOT MAINTAINED AND VERY NEGLECTED ALL AREAS. AVOID THIS SPORTS CENTER. IS THE WORST IN MILTON KEYNES
Negative experience: Filthy and in need of a deep, thorough clean. Have been coming to swim here every week for the passed 4 weeks and having given it a chance I don't think I will be rushing back. The swimming changing rooms are dirty and there is often debris (wrist bands from timed sessions) throughout the changing rooms that is rarely cleaned up. Floors are dirty and feel rarely cleaned, the showers have silicon that needs renewing and has been siliconed over repeatedly, and the pool itself often has debris on the bottom and doesn't smell of treatment chemicals.
Negative experience: Rude reception staff today...need a refresh in customer service. Not one smile on anyone's face today. Rude and belittling reception stuff who think you should know everything about the leisure centre. Really unhelpful and just looked like they didn't wanna be there. Re check your staff!! Not a great first port of call for the leisure centre!!
Negative experience: There are no notices or price lists for customers. i took my grandchildren swimming; the attendants were friendly and helpful BUT you cannot secure your valuables away in a locker unless you bring your own padlock - yes, try to get your head around the stupidity of this! The place is shabby and needs attention. The old leisure centre was much better in the days of Doreen Adcock - no tribute to her there either and yet, she gave years of service, teaching hundreds of children how to swim and was the BBC’s sport personality of the year
Negative experience: Found booking up rather hard work. I got told to download the app but you can not book up for yourselves and the kids that has to be done online by a Web page. The lockers don't have locks you need to take a padlock with you or you can purchase a rather cheap padlock from service for £4.
Positive experience: We visit every week for the Arabian gym sessions. centre has lovely staff but wish there was some ‘guide’ to the place - it’s not really obvious what facilities there are, what the timings or costs are or how you can ‘use’ the place. Missing out on potential customers I should expect. The inside is well kept, apparent from the seating in the cafe area which is very old and falling apart - could do with a spruce up. Outside the place is overgrown with weeds and generally unkept, could improve this easily with some litter picking and weeding that would encourage more people to come in.
Positive experience: Often congestion at reception and beware of mid afternoon weekdays with teens running riot after school. Facilities are good.
Negative experience: Bloody useless company. I understand you could possibly be understaffed or something however it’s ridiculous you HAVE to be a team member to book public swimming on the app and website but when you call to book, they don’t even answer! I’ve called 8 times today and my partner called 9 times (all throughout the day) and no one answered! Crazy to think this company is still going on. Not to mention yesterday, how rude the lady was to us when we ask how it worked to book etc!!! Absolutely ridiculous!
Negative experience: I understand Inspireall is responsible for the cleaning of the car park. These are the less than inspiring photos of the stairwell to the leisure centre.
Fantastic experience: It is very nice, the water is not that cold, it should be a little bit clean at the shower area, and the stuff at the reception could be a little bit more clear in explaining to foreigners the schedule, other than that for us was ok and also for the kids!
Negative experience: Good luck getting the to answer the phone. I have called about 30 times in the space of 2 days. Left a voicemail with my number. Had no answer and no call back. Called yesterday all the way through from there opening time till around 7pm at variest points throughout the day. When I've been in there before there has always been 2 people on reception.
Negative experience: Pool water was very cold, no hot water on showers. We told the staffs there but they just shrugged their shoulder. Dirty floors everywhere. Sauna and steam room was dirty too. Yaaaikksss.
Negative experience: Absolutely downhill! They have definitely downgraded since the last time I came with the school! Pool changing rooms are filthy.. disgusting, tissue papers thrown on the ceiling , rubbish in the changing rooms, no bins to put rubbish in! It's an absolute disgrace.. so glad I cancelled my swim membership when I could!
Negative experience: They don’t even deserve 1 star, the most disorganised business. The staff do not know what they’re doing and they don’t know how to keep up with their tasks. Me and my friends play badminton here regularly and we always face altercations here. The so called duty manager Zack was rude and blunt and you can see his frustration with me when me the customer booked in badminton to go in and find out I can’t play because there is a basketball game going on all day. If you have an event taking place. Why do you not update your app and take off the slots? Ridiculous. The duty manager needs customer service training, and the girl on the desk has no clue what she’s doing or saying. She advised we can go play at 6pm to only wonder outside the main hall door after 6pm waiting for the basketball game to finish and for them to put the court up. They’ve given my refund but for the time and money wasted coming here. They couldn’t compensate me or my friends. If we hadn’t actively gone to reception and ask them if time would be added as it had gone past 6pm, we would have been standing there idle and that’s when they found out the basket ball event is on for the whole day ant not just till 6pm. Shame on you guys!
Negative experience: The facilities I use are fine, but what really gripes me is they never answer the phone!! I can ring 10 times across the day before anyone bothers to pick up!!! I have ring to book squash as im not a member and I go through this rigmarole every time
Negative experience: Pool is ok but Poor cleaning service. Changing rooms are filthy. Place need big face lift.
Negative experience: My club train weekly at the leisure centre and the service we get is barely sufficient. Despite our requests the floor is filthy which is important as our sport includes sitting on the floor. Admin is poor as well, our club treasurer has the bailiffs to his home to collect an outstanding invoice which had been paid months earlier. High turnover of senior staff doesn't help! Can't speak for the swimming pool or other areas. Reception staff are pleasant.
Positive experience: Go bowls once a week, unfortunately the green is used for other events and needs hoovering better, otherwise the centre has a lot to offer
Negative experience: Swimming lessons are crowded and they do nothing to remove the distributive children who cause delays. Not worth the money most of the time. Also takes a long time for any child to move up a stage
Fantastic experience: Very good leisure centre, having plenty of sports facilities like basketball, badminton, tt, swimming gym, gymnastics and many more. They have multiple membership plans to fulfill everyone's need. Also have free parking which is added advantage.
Negative experience: The toilets are disgusting and resemble a health hazard. They absolutely always stink of ammonia from urine. They do clean it but it needs complete refurb of the toilet and changing room area. The changing rooms always feel like they are about to fall down.
Fantastic experience: Five stars as it's reasonably prices, staff friendly and has good facilities. It's not David Lloyd, no bad thing.
Positive experience: So hot on poolside and the water, it was difficult to race. Swimmers all got headaches or felt sick from the heat.
Fantastic experience: LESS MILLS workouts are outstanding! Especially BODY COMBAT and PUMP with ISSA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays evenings. Perfect if you’re looking for a POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE workout with GOOD MUSIC and TOP LEVEL INSTRUCTOR. Brings the visual results and increases your fitness! MUST TRY!!!
Fantastic experience: Perfect for youth to’enjoy swimming without obligation to turn to serious swimming training. Clean, warm, coffee shop is direct on the swimming pool and you can see your little one swimming. Relaxing place. Parking always available for the car.
Negative experience: Only 1 lifeguard for a whole olympic size swimming pool. They harrass you for swimming with a friend and accuse you of doing private lessons. Very rude lifeguard with long blonde hair (Alison) she needs to be replaced. Wearing jeans.. how is she supposed to dive in and save someone if the jeans are restricting her movement. Different rules for different people. I guess it depends on the colour of your skin. Steam room is never hot enough. Drains stink, front desk always looks miserable like they'd rather be somewhere else. To be fair I would too but then I don't work there.
Negative experience: Please close the pool and fix it...tiles are falling off the bottom. Booked and paid full price for a family swim, allocated a tiny narrow area to swim and the middle third was closed off due to dangerous floor! Felt like a goldfish in a bowl...and it's freezing lately!
Negative experience: Ok for small children or a relaxing swim. The sauna and steam room are ok but when there's lessons on can the parents use the seating that's available not block up the swimming pool area. It was very unBritish to have parents next to the watered dressed shoes on and cheering their children just to be a few steps closer to their children!!?? This is a health and safety issue and shouldn't be allowed when there is seating. Plus it made my whole experience feel bad for the £6 I spent to relax!? I should have asked for a refund.
Fantastic experience: We were interested in the swimming pool and whilst there was invited to join the club for a monthly fee with no contract but decided not to take up the offer
Fantastic experience: Wonderful pool. Excellent staff. Very friendly. And the cafe is also very good indeed. Well l worth a visit for a tea or a latte after a lengthy swim or workout session.
Negative experience: Bit disappointed with the service. shower doors are missing and have no locks working on shower doors. Hair dryer are broken and some are switched off. Sorry to pointed out this stuffs.
Negative experience: Dangerous experience I had last week in the lane swimming I was unaware while swimming that pool divider had been unlocked and was randomly loss in pool my arm hit it a few times. Not staff member informed me they was unlocking divider in the lane I was swimming in if they would have done I would not have swam until divider had been removed from pool. Dangerous is because I panicked while swimming in deep end my breathing at best is not good as I have COPD so it was made worse swimming to get shallow end panic breathing away from loss divider. The staff on duty who created this no health and safety issue never even apologized to me at the least
Positive experience: As a self-confessed couch potato with an erratic commitment to diet and exercise, I joined as a swim only member last year. It’s a lovely pool, and apart from the occasional tumbleweed of hair which seems to drift into lane one, it’s a pretty clean and tidy area. The temperature of the water is good and if you pick the right times (not telling!) you can enjoy a nice relaxing swim. Unlike a lot of pools where lifeguards are nattering to their mates or staring at their phones, I’ve noticed that the staff here are very responsible and attentive which makes me feel safe as a swimmer. I recently enquired about upgrading to full membership as I’m trying to lose weight and get fit, and "gift of the gab" Romeo on reception was very persuasive, pointing out all the obvious benefits. So with that - and his lively sidekick Leon promising to help turn me into “a new woman” - I ended up signing a new contract the next day! Well who can say no to that dynamic duo LOL. The gym itself has a wealth of equipment to enjoy a varied and creative workout. It’s very well air conditioned (which is a delightful escape in this present climate!) and the atmosphere is very chilled out and non intimidating. I find the centre and its staff to be friendly and welcoming. The folk on reception are always helpful (the manager on shift who signed me up was cheery, professional, and efficient) and I had a thorough induction of the eGym this week by the lovely Kelly who was really down to earth and approachable. I went to Dani’s amazing Zumba class on Thursday and a lot of the members in classes, the gym and the pool seem to be very friendly, and it’s nice to see regular faces when you join a club. I'd like to see some Les Mills Classes on the timetable, particularly Body Attack - and perhaps some Boxing Fitness, Step and good old fashioned aerobics. However, compared to a lot of other places, they have a pretty decent mix of classes. It takes an awful lot of willpower to scrape myself off the sofa, away from Netflix, the comfort of my kingsize bed or the lure of tempting treats in the fridge, so I need all the help and support I can get and I really feel that I have a good chance of maintaining consistency and getting good results by having joined Bletchley Leisure Centre. Leon in particular has been very encouraging and inspiring to me with his high energy, enthusiasm and positivity - which I desperately need to change my lazy ways. So what better motivation is there than to turn up to the gym with The Chuckle Brothers at your disposal! I really feel I have all the help I need to embark on a wonderful fitness journey. Tally Ho! and ta very muchly, Katie x
Positive experience: For all the room there is no space. The lift in the carpark has been out of order for well over a year. There are stairwell doors where the glass has been smashed that are still awaiting replacement. The toilets in the main gym changing room have broken flushes and don't flush very well, and although cleaned regularly, they are just a big on the grim side. The gym is good, never too busy but sometimes there are classes held in the cross fit area which prevents gym users from accessing the equipment that they are paying for so if you're unable to go earlier or later than the classes are held you have no access to the area, which quite frankly p*sses me off. Classes should be held in the studio or the sports hall. When I have used the pool I've found the changing rooms a little on the grim side and you have limited space due to either schools having booked out most of the lanes or the swim schools are there. Not very child friendly either in my opinion as there's no real area for toddlers to splash around. I use the leisure centre because its convenient and thr parking free bug depending on what you're looking for there are better options available.
Negative experience: I'm still a member of this gym, the reception never gives you correct information, I opened a contract last year, the manager told me that it was a no-interest option and now after a year I have to pay it, the sauna is always out of service, the bathrooms and the showers are very dirty,I am very disappointed
Positive experience: Free car parking in multi-story. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Good range of classes. 4 stars not 5 because lift in carpark not working and stairs are filthy.
Positive experience: This is potentially a really nice place (great building and some great people) but there are a few issues. The app is confusing and issued me a notice that I'd not attended a swim booking when I had. The session itself was overcrowded and I know they probably don't want to turn people away, but it feels like there should be more control over how many people they let in at a time. I can accept slight overcrowding - most pools have this problem - but sometimes it goes a bit far here. My session was less of a swim, more walking around people and dodging dive bombers. And on that note, I think it's a bit unfair to leave a single, young lifeguard to deal with the behaviour of several burley male customers who are breaking the rules. I'd be reluctant to approach that situation too.
Positive experience: Some facilities here are great, but trying to get through by phone is impossible, the café is rarely open, and the pool changing rooms absolutely stink.
Negative experience: Can't give 0 stars otherwise I would. My kids and their friends booked in for 3 hours swimming time for 4till7, they were ten minutes late and got told they only had 45mins left, then a woman came up to all the kids saying your time is up after 30mins while in the pool!! While there was still people in the pool with the same coloured wrist bands!! I'm never going to this swimming pool again, as I don't pay for 3 hrs swimming time to get 30mins in the end!!
Positive experience: Not bad facilities but can have alot of kids/public so more regular cleaning needed in changing rooms/steam sauna and poolside
Positive experience: Nice large pool with easy access ramp. Changing rooms can be a bit dirty sometimes. Showers don't all work properly.
Negative experience: The booking system does not work properly and send silly notifications saying I did not attend swim sessions which i did attend. I scanned the bar code but still I was not marked as attended classes. Users should not waste their time raising tickets regarding a poorly implemented access control system. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR IT SYSTEMS. Frustrated.
Negative experience: Visited the centre in January and had a tour with two young lads, they made me feel very welcome, exceptional service with both of them from start to finish. However, I had an unpleasant experience with the swim school supervisor. The centre itself is extremely dated and needs some life. I personally wouldn’t part with my money for a 12 month contract when the facility looks this way.
Positive experience: Started swimming here again, pool is fine although it does have a dirty "tide mark" on the tiles. Showers in need of maintenance and some areas are not clean. Why has lift been out of order for many months?
Positive experience: I'm old, and i come to the leisure centre for a meeting in one of the conference rooms. I found it very good and all staff were great.
Negative experience: Have been going here since I was born which was many moons ago but haven't been since first lock down. Since when do you need my name and date of birth for a swimming session. I'm not a member so why are you collecting data on me, which is stored may I add after our swimming session has finished. There are no pricings on the website except for memberships and nothing to say you would need ID purely to spend 45 mins in your pool. Reception do not answer the phones, after 17 mins on hold in 1st position I gave up. If I had known before I would not have gone and definitely won't be back sorry to say, as the pool is actually quite good.
Positive experience: Only used the pool which is really nice, showers are okay But the ladies toilets are often blocked with toilet paper as they do not flush very well The cafe is really lovely friendly staff
Negative experience: By far the worst swimming pool I have ever visited. The ends are high sided, making turns difficult. Pool is very shallow, even at the shallow end where you can touch the bottom of the pool from breast stroke position. Advertised keyed pound lockers are few and have no wristbands so you struggle to keep your key safe and they don’t warn you of this so you can get a padlock from reception - by the time you find out, you are already changed. Steam room is nowhere near hot enough and leaks in cold air. Decorative finishes peeling and ragged in places. Hairdryers poor. Lane swim direction signs speeds not clearly positioned. Wayfinding signs internal and external are poor. Very echoey architecture. Needs total rebuild and revamp. Totally overpriced for the experience.
Positive experience: I'd not been to Bletchley Leisure Centre since "the old days", so it was good to see this "new" incarnation. The first thing to mention is that their car park is very well hidden and not signposted on the approach road . But it's a FREE car park, so that's a big plus! There's a pleasant snack bar, with a friendly lady bar staff. I was there for an NHS meeting for folks with respiratory problems. The meeting was held in the 'Multi-function' room; which is large enough for 30+ at socially distanced space. But it wasn't warm in there! I have to go again, next week, so will wear a sweater over my shirt!
