Negative experience: I am so disappointed in the management. You’re gonna need thick skin if you’re just staring out here oh and don”t sweat what ever you do! The manager may pull you out of your workout to let you know that you smell. Well done sale leisure centre.

Negative experience: I have just quit the gym after 2 weeks of going as I have had a complaint from old people that I stunk. It's a gym to work out and sweat. Would not recommend younger adults or juniors. They will be a target.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, everytime we go for swimming lessons there are NO car parking spaces.

Negative experience: I’ve had my child enrolled in swimming lessons at [sale leisure Centre] for the past couple of years, and I’ve become increasingly concerned about the quality of the instruction. The instructors do not enter the water with the children during lessons, which makes it difficult for the kids to accurately understand and follow the movements. Unfortunately, my child has not shown much progress since we started. Additionally, the hygiene practices in the swimming area are worrying. I’ve noticed that both visitors and staff frequently wear outdoor shoes inside the pool area, which is unsanitary and could pose health risks. This is particularly concerning for the children who are vulnerable to infections. I hope the management takes these issues seriously, as they directly impact the safety and effectiveness of the lessons.

Positive experience: Great customer service and prompt responses to all emails and enquiries. The facilities and centre could do with a bit of a renovation, like Altrincham, but this doesn't take away from the really good service provided. Trafford Council, if you're reading this - can we modernise the centre please!

Negative experience: I would have given it a zero is able. I got a parking fine having not been before I failed to see the notices. If I had put my reg in at the leisure centre desk I would've been OK. Could the staff not have asked me to enter my reg. Mind you most or them were expressionless kids....board to death. Didn't say hello and weren't interested in the fact that the cold drinks machine wasn't working ..." oh it does this sometimes "......so I endure 2 hours without a drink. The place smelled of damp....litter all.over the seating area..... I will never attend again.

Fantastic experience: 5* for the staff and swim teachers. My little boy has been attending swimming lessons here for a few months now, he has his lessons with fran who we can not speak highly enough of. She has been wonderful for him and has given him so much confidence in the water. Fabulous instructor, she also taught my niece a few years ago who is now also a very confident swimmer.

Positive experience: I'm a member of Trafford Leisure, I usually use Stretford site, but occasionally use the gym and pool at Sale. I do find it surprising that Stretford is getting a refurbishment when Sale is in a lot worse condition. It's perfectly functional, but there are signs of neglect, like the lockers in the changing rooms being essentially completely out of action. If the site gets refurbished in the next few years, it will definitely return it to former glories. If ascetics don't bother you and you're only interested in using a good pool(s) and adequate gym facilities, then this is perfect.

Positive experience: Went in to see dan a pt nice guy very helpful, was made to feel at ease .looking forward to starting my road to recovery

Negative experience: Absolute nightmare trying to book a swim for myself and my children. I have the ap but you can't book for anyone other than yourself. You can't book over the phone and you can no longer just turn up and pay on the door. Could trafford leisure make it anymore difficult. An absolute impossible task!!

Positive experience: In desperate need of investment. Can't fault staff and swimming coaches but building and facilities are in need of modernisation.

Positive experience: Great leisure centre with LOADS of activities for children and adults. Such as swimming, 5 aside football, squash courts, badminton courts, karate classes and so much more. Free parking (must key in car reg in keypad inside reception)

Negative experience: The lessons themselves are good but now the place is so overcrowded and the parking lots don't have enough space for everyone like it did before

Fantastic experience: The five stars are for the swimming lessons my son has had. Firstly with Maria, now with Nicola. These have been great. The centre, well, there's not much to say is there? The staff try hard and I always see them cleaning. Some really friendly, personable staff. Shame the place is in such a sorry state. I imagine the staff don't really enjoy their working environment much. I do hope they have a good team to boost their morale.

Fantastic experience: Situated right at the heart of Sale town centre. Large car park with free parking but make sure you enter you reg on the machine next to reception!

Negative experience: Would be nice if you close this place. It is unfortunately the worst center I have every been. Absolutely disgusting

Negative experience: Bit tired and grubby now. Needs some love. Plus they closed all the squash courts for seemingly no reason, so they could occasionally use them for classes and stop maintaining them; huge shame and removed my main reason to go.

Positive experience: I wish there was an option with no stars for cleanliness and tidiness But the teachers are ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ truly great they know what they’re teaching and they put a lot of effort in Would love the council to upgrade the centre

Negative experience: Lady’s room is Dirty. And there’s no privacy at all I have seen many men inside the ladies room which shouldn’t

Negative experience: Vile place. Female changing rooms are disgusting, absolute filthy. There's been no door on the female disabled changing room for over 3 weeks. Staff advise there is no alternative. Lots of notable repairs are needed, the building is falling to pieces.

Negative experience: Changing room it so dirty and smells of wee all the time . The downstairs sofa is broken ... my son joined swiming lesson last year , he was in same stage after a year . Linsey ( swimming structure) wasnt bother to teach kids swimming . She just walked around the pool or talked to other staff ... my son was dreading going there . The pool is so cold for kids ... I Will Not Go back again.

Negative experience: Not been for a long time can't believe how bad the changing rooms are, delapidated dirty, locks on doors don't work. Looks like it hasn't been updated since I took my children for their swimming lessons and now taking my Grandchildren. One of the seats on the ground floor was broken this week. Upstairs is better but not if you are watching the little pool.

Positive experience: Great staff and swimming lessons for the kids. Has everything you need, some parts are a little dated but hopefully they will be updated in the next Refurb which I'm told is coming soon.

Negative experience: No family changing rooms, only 1 baby changing mat that is broke, 1 chair for a baby to sit on which is also broke, which is right near the door where people are coming in and out, I had to get a customer to hold my baby whilst I got change as there was nowhere safe to put my baby, the play pen was dirty and had old food in it. Have to buy tokens for the lockers and don't get your money back as they only take the old pound coins so people leave their belongings in the changing rooms so there is no space to change.

Positive experience: Shame that vending machines are so complex. Why not just contactless payment?

Fantastic experience: Clean, safe and tidy, lots to do, extensive viewing facilities, plenty of trained, experienced instructors to help users of all ages and abilities, large car park.

Negative experience: we pay for our 10 year old daughter to have swimmining lessons, we got told she can go for a swim whenever she likes as we pay monthly ,when she went they have refused entry and we have to pay extra . We pay £23 a month for a half hour lesson in a group which is quite expensive but we got told she can swim anytime she likes now they have stopped her going anytime if there wa sanywhere else we could take her we would in a flash dreadful service

Positive experience: It was a good experience to be back in the leisure centre. The place is dated in parts and could do with an injection of money to certain parts of it, but this does not take away how mmaculately clean the centre is and the stuff are very friendly. All in all loved it and will be coming back.

Negative experience: Kids lesson - 12 to a lane , 4 lanes open in the main pool . Baby pool 2 groups roughly 12 in each . Thats turned around every 25 minutes That’s a lot of children and not enough space in the changing rooms . The arguments my kids have witnessed lately with parents over lack of space / cubicles is disgusting. It’s a joke that some activities at sale still restricted due to covid yet come swimming lessons it’s pack them in . I would love a manager to comment on here where does he expect all the children to get changed .

Positive experience: Very helpful staff and decent gym

Negative experience: Err I’m not sure what had happened to this place. Hopefully they are getting the same treatment as Altrincham leisure centre because at this point there’s not much left to do but demolish the whole thing and start again. The hand dryers, hairdryers, changing room doors, benches, vending machines and tiles are all broken, the floor is constantly filthy and the pool is freezing. Honestly it’s a health hazard in this state. The whole place is a rotten hole and needs to be totally gutted.

Negative experience: This place is terrible, as a public service it's shocking how bad it is. Rude staff, don't respond to your emails. Charge you two months direct debit to cancel, but won't answer emails or phone to close it. they don't clean up dirty towels there are holes in the wall missing door handles locker handles etc.. gym equipment from the 1950's ( it's rusting) the pool has a coating of sludge and my daughter is traumatized after being dropped in the pool. The list goes on. No one to complain to as there is like one staff member for the entire place, who is rude and no help. Also it smells. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: Our daughter has her swimming lessons here. She loves it. Great teachers and nice facilities. A little dated but still spot on.

Positive experience: The swimming pool was lovely and warm. Reception staff were very nice and helpful. This was our first visit so I shall review again at a later date. All in all a very good experience.

Negative experience: Never able to get a badminton court for an hour - always 50 mins only. The staff have difficulty knowing what the court costs are and the dry shower facilities have seen better days. The place needs to be updated.

Negative experience: The staff is very rude. They do not seem interested at all in helping customers. I feel like a burden if I ever need to ask something from the reception. Very disappointed

Fantastic experience: Went for a first aid class. Staff are very friendly

Negative experience: Found poo in my the changing room. Absolutely stank and they refused to clean it up. Lazy staff and disrespectful towels as they are no clean and have urine stains all over them. There was water coming out the shower and the swimming pool was wet.

Negative experience: I would give no stars here if I could no facilities closed due to Covid so I cancelled my membership now I have received a letter from a debt recovery company demanding the money plus £15 charge for late payment avoid at all cost FIND ANOTHER GYM

Negative experience: I've been going to SLC since I was a toddler, I'm now 37. SLC is the land that time forgot. In need of demolishing and rebuilding.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful massage at Wilde Harmony holistic massage at Sale leisure centre. Amazing. Far more enjoyable than the gym!!!

Positive experience: Great place with lovely staff. Not as flash as more trendy gyms, but there a really good variety of classes and two swimming pools.

Negative experience: Had a 12 month gym membership and wanted to cancel after 3. The equipment was old and rusty in many places, the exercise bikes would creak and grind and there was often no member of staff manning the gym floor. Squash courts need replastering and repainting due to the damage on the walls. I have no idea where the money for this overpriced membership goes but it certainly doesn't get reinvested in the building.

Negative experience: Swimming lessons for kids are awful and my children got stuck at a level with an instructor for 1.5 years. My children found no motivation for swimming.Changing rooms are dirty, toilets are blocked, no soap in toilets, when you climb out of the pool you find that your skin is covered in dirt and the showers do not work. The staff are disrespectful and do not take your complaints seriously. Considering the services being provided they should charge less instead of increasing the pricing as done recently . I would not recommend this lesuire centre for swimming.

Fantastic experience: Excellent centre and friendly staff. Go there regularly to play badminton and the facilities are excellent. Also, had a lot of help from one of the managers, James Hall recently, more than I expected. Definitely recommended

Negative experience: Definitely needs doing up the changing rooms are well outdated and smell. The swimming lessons aren't great and children seem to get stuck at a certain point and dont move. When you ask you get told you have to wait until assessment date. However they are supposed to be assessed all the time using the iPads which is what I was told.

Negative experience: I turned up today, swam for 1 hour and a few days later, i've learnt that i have been fined £100 for not inputting my vehicle registration at the leisure centre reception. This was not made clear, and is incredibly frustrating. I will endeavour to ensure i put off as many people as possible from getting caught in this money generating trap

Negative experience: Me and my 7 year old came today as I used to swim here when I was young we arrived and wanted to leave within 10 minutes the smell was disgusting damaged changing room floors clearly damp underneath giving of a nasty smell, old people guys just clearly dont know what a cubicle is nearly scared my son for life. This day and age they should be using a cubicle. Changing rooms need a refurb paint falling off the walls looks battered. After escaping the changing rooms we went into the pool it was empty now I know why it tasted like the ocean when pool water went in my mouth even my son picked up on it he also said it felt slimy the pictures I had seen on the site clearly propaganda really annoying considering I paid for this. Cheers again sale leisure ruined a farther and sons weekend

Negative experience: Didn't cancel direct debits for classes we could no longer attend which risked me being overcharged. Had to contact the direct debit provider direct who confirmed only one class had been cancelled by Sale Leisure despite me sending both cancellation requests via email and getting confirmation they had been referred to accounts at Sale Leisure. Poor administration services. Updated review 2022: facilities and pool fairly clean, free parking, reception staff have zero customer service skills you should expect to stand at the reception desk being ignored by whoever is on the other side until you speak. Reception behave as though it is the customers responsibility to attract their attention and facilitate the exchange. At least parking registration is computerised. I would prefer a computerised login screen to avoid having to deal with reception at all.

Negative experience: Pool changing rooms are absolutely disgusting. They absolutely stink of urine, don't get cleaned correctly and are extremely outdated. Awful experience.

Negative experience: I haven’t interacted with any other staff but reception so my review is based on those interactions. Staff are rude, unhelpful and perhaps even take some joy in being deliberately difficult. If not that then deliberately obtuse. Disappointing considering the facilities and location . Management please review your staff’s behaviour as it directly impacts revenue and footfall.

Positive experience: i deleted my previous review because it was 18 months old and out of date. It's about time they re introduced the lane swimming as adult swimming only. They let too many young swimmers in who have no sense of direction and get in the way. Also people who don't lane swim and just do aerobics exercises. should be told to use the general swims instead. Also they are very bad at starting on time and often too lazy to set up the pool properly for Lane swimming. (4 odd width lanes instead of three regular width lanes( Last night the lifeguard on duty failed to tell the swimmmers that they were swimming in the wrong direction as indicated by the signs. This is a safety violation

Positive experience: Always busy and full of fun with kids

Negative experience: Played badminton there and the floor surface was awful. It was like an ice rink and it was very dusty and dirty.

Positive experience: We use this venue for meetings. Staff are helpful and prices are very reasonable. Chairs were a lot more comfortable this time around too.

Fantastic experience: Great for gym, swim and badminton. They do fitness classes, judo and karate for all ages too. Good waiting area for waiting for people in.

Positive experience: Although slightly dated offers a wide range of activities. Flowskate Roller Disco on a Friday Night 6:15-8:00 £5 entry £1 skate hire is perfect for all ages and abilities and is filled with friendly staff ready to help. Young teen or adult skating can help improve balance confidence and ability. Give it a try

Negative experience: Had a family swim with my seven year old daughter in the small teaching pool supposed to be for under 8s only,a gang of young teenagers came in swearing and scaring the young children we left and other families left.When in the changing rooms I overheard the group say they got asked to leave and getting their money back i asked for mine back and gt told no. I have emailed the leisure centre but no response this is 4 days ago.Does not seem family friendly place.Sports direct have a pool and far cheaper also there are other leisure centres nearby ie Urmston, Altrincham ,Stretford and partington

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool. I like the locker idea, with the keys on wristbands you can wear in the pool. We are from NZ so it is quite a bit different from our swimming pools - no spa pool, quite expensive and no family changing rooms BUT we definitely enjoyed our swim.

Negative experience: Been ringing for over a month to enquire about 1:1 swimming lessons been passed from pillar to post sent in all directions still no further along the line to know if I'm even on a waiting list or not. Customer service is shocking.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed swim has a great pool and other facilities a small pool for novice swimmers also holds a gym up above parking free althou Ltd space close to sale metro and sale shops

Negative experience: Spoke to Brian. Very rude. I explained I have been trying to book online but had not been able to because their website has been down for 3 days. He said it was now available, but having just checked it is still not available. So I asked if I could book over the phone. He confirmed there was a court available between 4.30 and 8pm. So I asked if I could book for 7.30. He said rather abruptly that was not available. I said I thought he said any time between 4.30 and 8 was available. He then repeated himself saying only between 4.30 and 8. So, I said did he mean the last court available was 7 then. He said yes. So I tried to book for 7pm. I gave my details and he again rather abruptly said 'you're not a member'. I said I thought I was as I book online. He said I wasn't. So I asked if I could book anyway. He said no. He said you will need to call in to book. I found this strange as I had booked with George Carnall only yesterday over the phone. He said he could not take payment details over the phone. I asked so I would need to call in? He again rather abruptly said yes. I said I was only asking to clarify. He then put the phone down on me. Maybe Brian was having a bad day but no need to be rude to members of the public who have already been inconvenienced.

Negative experience: Tired and dilapidated, environmental health should take a look. The council should be ashamed particularly given they are trying to promote the town centre. Smelly, tiles falling off pool and ceilings, urinals overflowing. The staff do the best they can given their tools, but the place must drag them down along with the complaints they must receive.

Positive experience: Coldest swimming pool south of the arctic circle.

Negative experience: Very old and smelly. Changing rooms stink of pee.

Negative experience: Staff are brilliant and friendly. The building is another matter. The place is far too hot to do anything, there is no aircon at all. The changing rooms are a disgrace, they are dirty and unkempt. There were ceiling tiles missing, lockers were broken, the toilets were flooding, taps were not working, and plasters on the floor. But I suppose what do you expect from a council-run place.

Negative experience: Rubbish. Very outdated. It need of an overhaul. Wouldn't go again.

Fantastic experience: Must try Aerobics,yoga and pillate class

Negative experience: Took my baby daughter for her first swim today and I was quite shocked at how filthy and in a poor state of disrepair the changing rooms were. Floors were very dirty and the walls are crumbling, tiles hanging off. There is a pull down change table but not in a cubicle it's next to the door so I had to get changed next to the door which isn't very practical as the floors are very dirty to put your bag or clothes down. No family changing available either so quite awkward. Pool had various filth in (hairbands, clips and plasters along with black floating stuff) my daughter did love the water and it was a good temperature but I'm very shocked at £9 for that level of facility. Seriously needs some attention, bit upsetting as I would love to take her regularly.

Negative experience: I went to the swimming pool in Sale yesterday (Sunday) at 8am when they opened. When I got into the water, I was shocked. It was indeed warm and not as cold as all the other pools in this area, but it was very very dirty. The dirtiest pool I have ever been to and swam in.. It was disgusting. There was some brown stuff on the floor, there was some rust on the sides of pool and stuff floating around (don't wanna know what that was). The changing rooms and showers were not much better. When I left at 9am (!!) the floor was really dirty already and it appeared the staff had not cleaned from the day before as there were some old overshoes and some kids swimming trunks lying about. The tiles on the walls in the showers has orange dirt on it appeared they never got cleaned before. And all of that for 4 pounds a session. I will definately not be going there again and would not recommend it to anyone who appreciates a clean and hygienic environment.

Fantastic experience: Clean public areas. Two pool well staffed by lifeguards. Water temperature warm, good for small children as well as nesh adults. Lockers need special token similar to old £1 coin. Ample free parking and good access for those with disabilities.

Positive experience: Massive pool and lots of activities. Fitness classes like Circuit Training or Zumba are usually full so its not easy to attend but great value for the money.
