Fantastic experience: One of the only places in Reading with squash courts, and you don’t have to have a paid subscription to book. Very friendly staff too.

Positive experience: Changing/shower space is very limited and the pool viewing is very limited in space and visibility.

Fantastic experience: attended aqua aerobics. The participants were amazing. It was really fun. Jake who was orchestrating was such an amazing chap. full of energy. Thankyou. Will definately book another session

Negative experience: Shame some staff are creepy and weird. Taking pictures of ladies when they walk past outside on your phone) and you sniggering with your friend is NOT OK! No professionalism at all be mindful taking kids if they haven’t been dbs checked

Fantastic experience: Daughter had birthday party here, Team was great couldn't ask for a better team here at meadway sports centre, all hands was on deck to help tidy up, plenty of parking also on a bus route for those who don't drive, lots of space for the kids to run around, a good size bouncy castle, great value for money, i appriciate you all, thank you

Positive experience: Had the sports hall for my Grandson's birthday. The only draw back they don't give enough time to clean up after your party before the next one comes in.

Negative experience: Really awful experience , no staff at the front desk , the changing rooms smelt and it was very dirty, pool water was cold for children and babies don’t think we will go again in desperate need of upgrading the entire place

Fantastic experience: First time coming here, and I must say I'm loving the entire thing. Went in for a pickleball session, and I really liked it. I'm going back as soon as possible. The instructor was very knowledgeable and helped and guided everyone. Super clean, nice lockers with everything working, ample parking and very nice and accommodating staff. Delighted :)

Fantastic experience: Took my son swimming today, I got my times muddled however the friendly helpful staff went out of thier way to accommodate us. Clean changing rooms and a lovely warm pool.

Fantastic experience: I cannot praise the staff enough. I popped a disc and was looked after like a princess. Now recovered am having Aqua Aerobics with the amazing team who make the sessions lively and fun.

Fantastic experience: One of the better location of Better sports. Though small in size but provides ample of sports facilities, kids play area, swimming,squash and ample pf parking spaces. Staff is very friendly.

Fantastic experience: My son had a party here and for £95 for an hour and a half, the use of a bouncy castle and soft play, I really can't fault it. We all had an amazing time and the young staff were so helpful. There were two young lads in particular that went above and beyond to help and cater to our needs, sorry I didn't catch your names but both are real assets to the Meadway. 100% will book again next year. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I have been in this centre for almost 8 months. Very nice and clean centre. Friendly staff and convenient facilities. Huge free parking.

Fantastic experience: very helpful staff. after I passed out with low blood pressure and result to that I had head injury. The staff was amazing in first aid. Kelly (first aider) was amazing. She was very professional. she made sure i visited the A+E due to head injury even though I felt fine. Next day I had a call from the manager to see if I was ok. Definitely will be going back to use the facility again once I've recovered. Once again thank you guys.

Fantastic experience: Went to aqua aerobics. Changing rooms were tidy, no shoes allowed in there. The lockers are located around the pool, which was unusual in my opinion. A good experience.

Negative experience: Very disappointing that they don't change their swimming timetables for half term - can't take my children here or to Rivermead, or South Reading - seems "Better Health's" mission to improve physical, mental, and social wellbeing only applies to adults.

Negative experience: The worst swimmjng pool I have seen so far. The water is cold for babies, changing rooms are out of the pool building and not convenient for babies who can get sick very easily. Very bad experience and will not come back. Shame that the price is same as other facilities which provide a perfect service.

Fantastic experience: A lovely girl today helped me download the app as I was trying to book a lesson at the sports centre. He name was Georgia such a credit to the medway sports centre Wish everyone was like her. Also I think she was the supervisor told how to book and what was available.

Fantastic experience: Very good

Positive experience: Good place for sports clubs to use but the facilities are shocking to say there's been a substantial investment in recent years. Changing rooms are not centrally heated, so you're frozen. Toilets are often without toilet tissue and I doubt there's a regular cleaning schedule in place as the area smells awful.

Negative experience: Been coming here for Saturday swimming lessons for a short while now. Location very convenient but the building is just not fit for purpose. Access for wheelchair or pushchair is difficult - none of the doors are automatic, and the room we all wait in during swimming lessons has no lift access, and whilst there is clearly a facility for a cafe here, it’s not open. Overall I’m very dissatisfied with Meadway, and the only thing that keeps me coming back is the convenience, even if it means I’m dragging a pushchair through doors and up stairs on my own.

Fantastic experience: Arranged my son's 6th bday party at Meadway sports center reading. Awesome staff, so calm, helpful and nicely arranged. No hassle and tension free . Give it 5star for their well managed party.

Fantastic experience: Very clean and well supervised. The Sunday family swim is particularly welcoming, good value for money and a great opportunity for parents and carers to bond with the children

Positive experience: Clean pool and around (the sealing looks like some rust is there and also peeling off .? Not very nice view , clean showers and around, but really not practical, definitely need update everywhere in the swimming pool areas+ shower be nice to really have a bit of privacy! In showers you are exposed to everyone and after you need cross room to change areas which are covered by "curtains" which is ok, but what's the point when everyone can see you in showers only 4 showers next to each other not great space but ok.. Shame it doesn't have any lockers, you have to leave it by the pool everything or in an open changing/shower/WC area... Nice helpful staff, thank you

Negative experience: This has got to be the worst Better gym in Berkshire. Gym is tiny, with little choice of equipment. Building and facilities are out of date. Even worse, you can't use the spinning bikes unless there is a class because "somebody has to be around". So basically they trust you to use all the gym including weight lifting unsupervised but don't you dare use a bike unsupervised. ‍♀️ you better off at Rivermead or South Reading to be honest.

Positive experience: Good facility, with clean courts, pool, badminton and squash courts and friendly staff .the changing rooms are well maintained, parking facilitaties and courses..

Negative experience: Had my nieces 4th birthday here, no party host to set us up, came in late whilst the kids were trying to get on the flat bouncy castle, then decided to open the whole hall up when we hadnt finished the party to the construction people, so with about 20 4 year olds and power tools in site for them to go and run over too, genius people working here, avoid whole place needs bulldozing

Positive experience: Comparatively smaller leisure center compared to other better facilities in the town. Badminton courts, 3 were operational and the nets were new and good. Hall was cold with AC on. Bathrooms are not well maintained.

Negative experience: No swimming no clubs noactivities swimming for families is abismal one hoyr 7pmtill 8 pm on a school night terrible

Fantastic experience: Used the badminton courts, had a good time. Easy to find and the staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities are good. There is plenty of parking, and three hours is free which is enough time for most activities you'll be doing there.

Negative experience: My daughter has Autisum.she feel good when I took her swimming.I used to take her once a week and she requested to the staff when she is in a pool please music off but every time same staff girl make us annoying and soo rood with us ..it’s many time..she said we need music my Daughter can’t coop with music when she swimming.. This girl (staff)did many time annoying us that’s why I reported yesterday 27th of feb2022 at 4.05pm to the maneger..we didn’t enjoy swimming becose she took our time ..my daughter has a good Sence of humour and she didn’t harm anybody and she didn’t disturbed anyone she can swim and enjoy herself the big thing for me she can cooperate in group swim.I spoke with few manager too .. Every week when I entered the pool I face this annoying thing from the girl staff.specifically Sunday in swim for all.. I think they all staff need to train to deal with special need family and learn about respect polite and regarding.we are totally unhappy and my friend said same she is also not happy.my friend went with her special need son and I went with my special need daughter..we are soo miserable that day becose of the girl staff..she is soo rood with us and this isn’t first time..

Fantastic experience: Nice swimming and badminton faciltiy

Negative experience: Meadway is in such a terrible state rundown, equipment from 2 decades ago and classes being held in common areas that are literally waiting rooms. I mean they actually are waiting rooms. Enjoy your class while these children's parents sit and wait for their kids swimming to finish all around you whilst you lay on this carpet tile floor and stare at our rotten cobweb ceiling! It's beyond bad!! The exercise bikes do not even have a RPM counter on them in the spin class. I mean hire it out to TV and film companies making 1990 dramas looking for authentic locations but don't call it a gym. By the way the photos on the website..not the gym, not the studio or the facilities you will find!

Positive experience: Now under new management as part of the Better group and had a nice spruce up. Now much easier to book classes or squash and badminton courts with the companion app.

Negative experience: Where do I start.... well, it's a total hole! In need of refurbishment throughout. I am playing squash and will limit to this only as the rest of facilities as well as some class trainers are a disaster. Save your money or pay more for a decent gym. ( The Gym in Tilehurst is like 5 stars compared to this one...) Message to the staff... please do something about the place, don't take any more memberships, close the place down and refurbish it.

Positive experience: I only go for swimming, but honestly the pool area could do with a total redecoration, however i would say there is a wonderful receptionist (Maria) who is extremely helpful and an asset to Meadway Sports Centre

Negative experience: Since new company took over "better" this place is a NIGHTMARE! The worst thing is they mixed up kids from 3 different stages, so there is no development. If you still sign up for swimming lessons with them, be patient and prepare for lots of BS.

Positive experience: Parking is terrible and badly organised, the whole building needs renovation work. Staff are happy and helpful.

Positive experience: I have only used the gym and swimming pool here so I can't really comment on the other bits like the sports hall and upstairs. When I'm in the building I generally get the feeling that time has not been kind, and that the facility in general is underfunded. This is evidenced by walls and doors that have taken damage have not been painted or replaced in years, there's plenty of stains on carpets and ceiling. I'm the gym you can probably exercise every muscle group with the equipment in there, but only if you come at an off-peak time. In my opinion, the pool is too small, at popular times it is crowded, but nothing can really be done about that. Despite all these things, Meadway Sports centre is cheap compared to privately run places, and you definitely get what you pay for. My subscription is still active however!

Fantastic experience: Really cheap place to take the kids swimming we had such a lovely time and the staff are really friendly

Negative experience: Grotty little place. They actually have cctv cameras that charge you £100 if you stay over an hour! Very run down neighborhood, lots of poverty but the leisure centre will fine you £100 via a company that doesn't have a phone number

Negative experience: Pretty tired council run facility, convenient if you live in Tilehurst, but not worth traveling to.

Positive experience: Needs refurbishment, 25m pool, gym, sport halls that facilitate most activities - saving grace is £65 for a 2 hour under 5s party which includes v.large bouncy castle and bits of soft play, in the couple of hours you can decorate as you want, bring your own food, drinks and use of the music facilities - bring a Aux lead for your Spotify!

Positive experience: Good badminton courts at affordable prices. They do have classes, gym and a pool but have not used them.
