Negative experience: The pool is extremely dirty (urine stained tiles and literal mould) and I don’t understand how they can justify that when they’re charging £6 to swim for 45 minutes. From the smell in the changing rooms they clearly don’t get properly bleached/cleaned everyday. They also completely over book the slow lane :(

Positive experience: Nice pool but think it could do with being upgraded a bit and made bigger.

Negative experience: They say on their web page they are inclusive but i can't find any general swimming sessions over lunch time or evenings. 22 lane swimming sessions mid week vs 3 general swimming. Some people aren't able to lane swim for a variety of reasons and offering so few sessions means it does not feel inclusive or accessible. All of the 3 mid week general sessions are mid morning which is not accessible if you are working. Many pools offer sessions with a split of lane swimming and general, could this not be an option or just adding in a few more general swimming slots at least in the evenings?

Positive experience: Not very big though

Positive experience: I love coming to swim and play squash here although both are pretty run down. Squash courts could do with a revamp! Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Rundown, dirty, poorly maintained and generally shoddy. An embarrassment of a swimming pool. The changing rooms are filthy and stink of urine. Hair all over the floor, dirty toilets. Surely the good folk of Nailsea and Backwell deserve better? It seems the staff at Strode Road Leisure Centre in Clevedon are able to keep their facilities clean. Why can't you?

Positive experience: Definitely showing its age now. But great to have this pool in our area. Sometimes frustrating about daytime schedule.

Negative experience: It is a complete embarrassment to the area. The pool is rotten especially the shallow end that has nasty urine stained tiles, the squash courts are a joke (damaged, vandalised and not maintained) and the only thing that made it even passable was the sauna/steam rooms, which for some reason they decided to get rid of. All of which now means it is a sorry excuse for a leisure centre that desperately needs an overhaul and renovation. I feel sorry for the people of Nailsea and Backwell that have only this hole as their local swimming pool.

Positive experience: Overall ok, but Cold water in baby pool!! They warm it up only for classes. Shame, really shame...i am stuck with membership there, if I would have known, that water will be cold for babies, I wouldn’t sign on. Please start warming up the water! They told me "in the mornings is warm"..been in the morning a few times, always cold. Only for classes warm. Now just been in a busy Sunday family swimm that opens only at 13:00 lots of kids and water cold in baby pool. If not that, would be ok. Only 2 showers in changing rooms, smell off urine is very common, very dirty changing cabins. My baby is on a thick matt on the floor and touching everything, all walls in changing cabin are very very dirty. For adults I guess its ok, but not for babies.

Positive experience: £9.50 for 45 minutes swimming (1 adult, 1 child) seemed about the maximum I would consider reasonable. I wasn't getting anything out of it after all by teaching my son to swim. The changing rooms have not been removated since at least when I was at school at Backwell (1997), probably long, long before that. Consequently, they are grimy, slimy and just desperate for renovation.

Negative experience: The middle aged lady on reception came across very rude and gave poor customer service. I also didn’t appreciate the way this lady didn’t speak to a gentleman with downsyndrome, and instead only acknowledged his carer! The swimming pool and changing facilities are also very dated and have an extremely poor hygiene level.

Positive experience: Small but functional.. only had lane swimming. But at least i cd choose the slow lane..and mooch about a bit !

Positive experience: Very friendly staff, well trained swimming instructors. Unfortunately it’s not the cleanest place. People walking in their shoes on the sides of the pool and throughout changing areas. Some adults walk naked, despite of other people’s and children’s presence. The cubicles are limited, but cover yourself! Pretty disgusting

Negative experience: The squash courts are appalling, holes in the front walls, graffiti, chewing gum pressed into the walls, marks on the court surface and dust everywhere.

Fantastic experience: After an initial problem, which was sorted out by the local staff as I had no help from the national company. The service is fine and staff are helpful, the pool is ok too.

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool and friendly, helpful reception team. Not enough chairs, though and the pool area is a little dated. Overall, 10/10

Fantastic experience: Today, I experienced excellent customer service from Stella at Backwell Leisure Centre. She was extremely helpful in trying to locate my lost keys. Thankfully, she was able to call me back a few hours later with good news; a customer had found them in the carpark and handed them in. Feels great to be reunited with my keys. I'm grateful to everyone.

Fantastic experience: My boys have their swimming lessons here. It is a little dated but it’s a brilliant pool and has brilliant teachers there so friendly and so happy to entertain especially children with extra needs massive thankyou.

Negative experience: Went their today for the first time with my 3 year old, the staff were friendly and the changing rooms were clean, but the baby pool was not great… the water was a little murky and the grime around the outside was gross! I could even scrape some of it off with my nail plus in the corners of the pool the floor felt slimy so that was enough, we got out, had a really decent shower and left! I hope to get a reply saying they will carry out a deep clean and then we’ll be back!

Positive experience: Pools are warm, small pool perfect for infants and toddlers. One big complaint is the amount of sand, grit and what appear to be chunks of concrete in the small pool. It's extremely painful on your feet and knees (for both adults and kids). Definitely in need of a deep clean and pool vacuum.

Positive experience: I love this pool, the water is usually warm enough and it has lots of daylight. The changing rooms are not kept clean though, which is a bit off-putting

Negative experience: Very bad experience. The child caught a cold and the doctor said it would take a few weeks for the cough to go away. Shall we try to discuss whether we can stop for a few weeks first? Since can't, must calculate money, will never come here again!

Negative experience: Went swimming here, the changing rooms are small and filthy and had a rather unsavoury smell. The pool itself appears tired and unloved and is small. The reception staff were lovely though.

Negative experience: Main pool closed for my 6 year old grand daughter and myself but still had to pay full amount for the small pool. Disappointed

Positive experience: Good swimming lessons and kids fun sessions at weekends. Changing rooms need refurb/clean though!
